Script Errors And Weird Script, Overwriting And Hard To Read

Q: Script Errors And Weird Script, Overwriting And Hard To Read

Here is my Hijack this log file. I did everything listed but I am having issues with the way pages load or don't load properly while on the internet. Cannot read the words very well, sometimes they are overwritten , sometimes they are huge or the writing is too thin to be read easily. For example, when I load a newpaper like NY Times, the columns are squeezed in the middle of the screen and isn't displayed so it is readable columns overlap and words and photos overlap or are sqeezed into a narrow column. I have downloaded new drivers for the display, played with display properties and cannot seem to find the problem. Wondering if it is a bug or virus or worm or something. I am really not a geek, so I need help. I don't know how to mess with registry things, so I use Registry Mechanic. But it has not fixed this problem. I get runtime error codes and it asks me if I want to debug... mostly script errors. I ahve no clue about debugging, so I don't do it. Anyhow, any help would be appreciated!!!Thanks! Preferred Solution: Script Errors And Weird Script, Overwriting And Hard To Read

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi travlinrose and welcome to Bleeping. Sorry for the long wait. If you haven't got to the bottom of this problem yet, can I ask you to install a different browser and let me know if you still experience the same problems please.Try Mozilla FirefoxIf that works we at least know it's a problem with IE.

I reinstalled recently my laptop and put a fresh Windows XP Pro Tablet Edition on it, upgraded to SP2 and IE7 applied patches and installed tons of software, which I use, from Office tools to archivers, anti virus, etc.

During the installation and updates must have something happened, because I get now weird script errors in IE.

I noticed at first at my own homepage where IE returned an "Unspecified" Error on a "obj.filters" statement. It's not the code, because it works fine on another computer, also with XP Pro SP2 and IE7 installed.

I also get errors in other places.

For example at Microsoft's own page to add additional search providers to the IE search box. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...n/default.mspx

The browser returns again an "Unspecified" error at line 536.
This time is the "addBehavior" function a problem. This is the piece of code that errors out.

Code:
document.body.addBehavior("#default#clientCaps");
If I ignore the error and select any provider, another "Unspecified" error occurs at following function.

Code:
window.external.AddSearchProvider(...
At http://www.msn.com/ am I getting an error on Line 1 already. There it is the "addBehavior" function again that causes the issue.

Code:
s.b.addBehavior('#default#homePage')

I tried various things already, including

- resetting IE
- reinstalling IE
- reinstalling service pack 2 for XP

A:[SOLVED] Weird Script Errors with IE 7

I had the same problem, and I found your post while searching for a solution on the web. I didn't find one, but this thread ( http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-1971536.php) gave me the idea to try resetting my Internet zone security level to Medium and that change worked to stop the error.

I then started changing the Internet zone settings, one at a time, back to the custom settings I had started with. I found that the culprit was the Binary and script behaviors setting under the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section which I had disabled. The default Medium security setting is Enabled. As you and I both noticed, quite a few web sites seem to make use of the capability this enables, so Disabled is not a realistic setting for this feature.

This seems to have taken care of both the xxx.addBehavior() errors and the yyy.filter() errors that both produced the Unspecified Error message.

Hope this helps others that are experiencing the same problem.

Hello everyone!

It has been a while since I have been on here. I have had a few computer problems that I had to work through, and once again I had to do a Factory Condition System Reset. The second time in jut over a year. They did not know what was causing my problem. I talked to both Dell; my computer manufacturer and Microsoft who made Windows Vista. They boh could not figure out what was causing my problems. Microsoft recommended to go to my computer manufacturer. And Dell just said to do the complete System Reset, Also Known As: Factory Condition Restore.

Back to my questions about Script debugging and Script errors. Every once in a while I have Windows notify me of the Script errors. Also sometimes when I go to view a webpage or enter a website a message will pop-up saying that a script error occured that could prevent me from viewing the page properly and asks me if I want to continue. I do have: "Disable Script debugging?" checked for both "Internet Explorer" and "Other". I also get a little note in the lower left hand corner saying: "Done, but with errors on page."

My first question is: What the heck is Script debugging?

Second question is: What can I do about the Script errors that occur?

Third: Why do script errors occur or what causes them? I know there can be millions of reasons that they occur, but what are the most common ones?

Fourth: Is there anything that can be done to fix them from the viewer'... Read more

Don't know how I got what I got (probably a supposed YouTube video click but I get an array of popup windows and neverending loading icon on FIrefox tab (it's taken me 5 minutes just to write this statement).I also continously get a flag to continue, debug, or cancel a script in FIrefox.

Hi,

I'm using Windows XP SP2 with IE 7. Because this is a testing machine (for automated tests), I can't upgrade IE. I want to eliminate script debugging errors, but they keep popping up, even though I've gone into Tools -> Options - Advanced and unchecked

Display a notification about every script error

These options are checked:

Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)
Disable script debugging (Other)

What else do I need to check? Thanks, - Dave

A:Getting script debugging errors even though I disabled script debugging

Just in case you didn't do it, check and uncheck Display etc., then be sure to hit OK and close the browser. Reopen and let's see what happens. Also go to this MS site: Cannot Disable Script Debugging in Internet Explorer.

If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

I'm currently trying to use my LG Rumor 2 to act as a modem for a dialup connection with my bluetooth capable computer. Everything is working great but my university, which I'm trying to connect to, requires a ppp script setup and I need to use the terminal window. So the computer dials correctly and everything works but when the terminal window appears I can't type anything although the text field appears for the username. Also, within a few seconds of the terminal window appearing I get the error "The Script has Halted." I can however right click and paste in text (but i don't know if that's relevant). Here is what I see:

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen
book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop
publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Hello, I have written a simple PHP web script to read your minidump (*.dmp) files and output using the DUMPCHK program from Microsoft's debug tools.

Go to:
http://www.zacksdomain.com/?page=tools&t=bugcheck

Upload a DMP file, it only takes files less then 200Kb. Once it is uploaded, you can click on the file name to get the output from dumpchk.

Right now the script is in beta. One issue is that if you happen to upload a dmp file with the same name as another, it will overwrite it. I have some additional stuff to change. But let me know if you find this idea usefull at all, and what I could do to improve it for regular use.

Thank you.

I have been on symnatec's site so many time it feels like home, all they do is keep redirecting me to their links all of which I have tried with no success. I have reinstalled and uninstalled more time than I have had hot dinners this week. Can any one reccomend a solution or an alternative antivirus software thats more reliable?

Uncheck the option to scan for scripting as you will continue to see those types of errors due to the fact that scripting can be very vague and sometimes unreliably picking up false positives.

In IE 6, whenever I go to any multimedia site like Windows Media Player (and especially that site), I get bombarded with script errors, so many that I have a hard time just exiting those sites. The only answer that I've been able to find in messages from others who have the same problem is in IE go to tools/internet options/advanced and to check "Disable Script Debugging" and to uncheck or leave blank "Display A Notification About Every Script Error," yet that does not at all solve the barrage of script errors that I continue to get. Anybody have any ideas?

A:Script Errors

Go to Tools-Internet Options-Security and click default level when Internet is highlighted. Then go to to Advanced tab and hit restore defaults. If this doesn't help, get some other opinions. If you don't get any more opinions or they just don't help, go to Microsoft.com and reinstall Internet Explorer. Hope I helped you.

Under "Official Downloads" HiJackThis. It's the 2nd one down.

Download and unzip to a permanent folder of your own creation.

Open HiJackThis. Click "Scan". Then,in the lower left corner, click "Save Log".

Save it to your permanent HiJackThis folder (or floppy disk if necessary).

The log will open in Notepad. Click "Edit" then "Select All".

I get a message sometimes on a web site
that says, "An error has occurred with
the script on this page, do you want
to continue processing script?"
What is this, and is it important?

It's errors in the HTML code for the webpage. It's not a problem on your end. Asssuming you have IE5 do this to eliminate seeing the error message, Start>Settings>CP>InternetOptions>Advanced. Remove the checkmark next to "Display a message about every script error". Be sure "Disable Script Debugging" is Selected and click on Apply. You'll be fine now.

I am continuously getting script errors....sometimes after every key stroke I type (this just started happening about a week ago).
I've gone to the Advanced tab of the Internet Properties and found that the "Disable script debugging" box is checked....and the "Display a notification about every script error" is unchecked.....which are the recommendations I've read about on how to fix
this problem.  Since these boxes are already checked/unchecked appropriately, what is causing these script error problems.....and how can I get rid of them?
Thanks

A:How to fix IE script errors

Go to internet options,
Advanced section, uncheck display a notification of every script error, apply and okay.
Close and open a new window,
If it doesn't stop,
Go to the security section,
Custom level button, scroll down near the bottom and disable xss filter, apply and okay.

Using SBC's internet explorer and am constantly getting "Internet Script Error" messages popping up on my screen. Is there a seting to fix this, or should be trying something else?

Thanks,

A:Script Errors

Usually if there is an error in any JavaScript on the page a message will pop-up. But if it happens on every single site you visit then there is probably something wrong with your copy if IE. I'm not sure if you can disable the message. Let me check.

Hi, let us have some Pc specifications.
Check and post
TSG System Information Utility - found here.
http://static.techguy.org/download/SysInfo.exe

Download Security Check by screen317 from.
http://screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/
Or
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/securitycheck/dl/123/

Save it to your Desktop.
Double click the install icon.
If using Vista - Win 7 - right click the install icon and select "Run as Administrator"
A command Prompt window will open.
Let it scan the Pc - press any key when asked.
It should now open in Notepad.
Copy and Paste the result of the scan in the reply box below.

The saved log will be called checkup.txt.

I am running IE 8 on Win XP sp3. About a week ago I noticed pages not loading correctly and I keep getting script errors when I click on the yellow triangle on the bottom left of the screen.

For example, I will log on to Facebook and when I click to go into my photos I get a script error and page does not load properly. I then go back to the home page and same issue. Then I will refresh and it works just fine.

Most of the time when I do refresh it does not work. The page will simply not load.

I googled the problem and the responses suggest I go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and then check the boxes Disable Script Debugging. That had no effect.

Why do I keep getting these script errors on this computer. My laptop has no issues except very rarely.

Anyone have any suggestions to fix this issue. I can post some of the errors if needed.

Thanks for any help provided.

Try running in Compatibility mode by clicking the broken page thing to the right of the address bar.

Hi,

I frequently receive the script error: "Done, but with errors on page" on the status bar of few websites. How can I fix this?

Thanks

Hi there

Open up control panel, click on Network and Internet, and go to Internet Options to open up the properties box, click on the 'Advanced' tab. Scroll down and and See if the option 'Display a notification about every script error' is checked or unchecked. If it is checked remove the tick, click on apply, then click OK and then restart Explorer. See if this cures the problem.

When navigating within Netzero e-mail, I encounter 'script error' messages. I can get to my Inbox, but can not access the Write or Address Book, nor any folders, such as Sent, Hold, etc. This computer has 32mb RAM and IE4.0.
Any clues?
Thanks

First of all I'm on WinXP, since it asked.

I am having the strangest problem with script errors. Specifically, with Icq 5 and script errors, when I try to load certain features in Icq that link with sections of the Icq site and I keep getting script errors. I've never had major errors like that before, the odd one now and again but the page will generally load anyway. But with this it seems to come to a grinding halt.

Icq told me to check with my ISP that they're not behind a firewall or proxy, but I've never had trouble with anything like that before. I haven't changed any settings that I'm aware of.

Totally lost as to what to do. Any help would be appreciated...
I hope this is in the right forum btw.

Well, so much for that. It seems to have fixed itself...

I'm running Win 2K Pro on my old K6-2 computer. Broadband hook-up. Lately, when I visit certain sites I get a barrage of script error messages. How do I stop the error messages? I've been tweaking, but apparently I haven't found the right spot. Any advice would be appreciated.

I am using Windows7. Yesterday I have been getting a lot of "script error" messages possibly related to playing games. I get anywhere from 3 to 6/7 every few seconds.

I've heard that they are meaningless and there is a way to turn them off. Is this true?
