Firefox, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox won't play MP3 files on websites

Q: Firefox, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox won't play MP3 files on websites

I have 4 browsers on my computer: Internet Explorer 8, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. I am trying to listen to some MP3 files on a website, and all of the browsers, except for IE 8, told me to download the Realplayer Plugin. So I did, and when I tried to listen to the MP3 file, Realplayer will automatically enable this "Autoupdate Helper" thing and check for updates. So I let it check for updates, but then it'll say "There are no updates..." and just stop there. The file won't play! I click play again, and the same thing happens.

Internet Explorer is the only browser smart enough to open the MP3 files on the web page using Quicktime (the website actually tells you to use Quicktime to open the files) but it doesn't load the Youtube videos that are embedded on the site. There's a X on the top left corner of the section where the video is suppose to be.

Now I'm stuck! I want to view all the contents on one page with one browser! But none of the browsers will actually work properly!

So the main problem is:

1. The MP3 files won't load in Chrome, Firefox, and Opera using Quicktime.

Chrome is the only browser I use frequently, and the others are basically backup. IS THERE ANY SOLUTION TO THIS!?!?!?

Thanks everyone!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Which one do you prefer and why? If you don't use neither of these browsers then feel free to share which browser you're currently using and why you choose to use it.

A:Google Chrome vs. Mozilla Firefox

I use Firefox. One of my main reasons is that I find it a bit intrusive and annoying to have everything integrated into one proprietary system. I don't want to login on every website with my facebook account. I don't want to use an integrated browser like microsoft edge. I like to choose each application independently, each based on its own merit for that specific function.

I've used lots of browsers over the years and Firefox has always been a very solid option. It isn't integrated into the OS (edge). It isn't integrated into my email (chrome). Why I  choose it over browsers like opera or the plethora of similar competitors is just a matter of functional preference more than anything else.

Hello, I've been having problems with Google Chrome's freezes for quite a while now.
They are random, first you see that your browser doesn't respond anymore, but then neither does the PC.
You wait up to 3 minutes, and everything works out. But that's not really ideal.

So, in order to see what was wrong with my problem, I thought that I should get Mozilla Firefox.

But as I have seen, that does not change anything

Please help!

Heya, folks--I've got a weird little issue here that's been bugging me for a while now, and I just cannot figure out what's going on! Maybe y'all can help me here....

First of all, I'm running Windows 7 x64 on an HP Pavillion (hardware details available in my profile).

When I'm listening to music (mp3s, FLAC, CD, anything) using either MediaMonkey or J. River Media Center 14 and surfing the web using either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox (any version), my sound output skips whenever either browser is rendering a page.

I have a SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum sound card and an Edirol /Cakewalk UA-25EX USB audio interface: the skipping happens regardless of which I use. The two devices are not both installed at the same time: I removed the SoundBlaster card and drivers before installing the Edirol. All sound drivers are up-to-date.

Also, all video/motherboard/hardware drivers in general are completely up-to-date as well, as are all Windows updates.

I do not experience ANY audio skipping problems in ANY other software. My computer is stuffed full of audio software for studio production, and I haven't noticed any problems whatsoever in other apps--just the mp3 players, and only when either Chrome or Firefox is rendering.

I've checked my system resources to make sure neither browser is spiking my CPU, which could cause audio drop-outs, and that's not happening: whenever a browser is rendering, the CPU barely takes a hit. I've used every possible sound output option ... Read more

A:Audio Skipping With Google Chrome/Mozilla Firefox

Some further information:

I've now tested all the browsers on my system--Mozilla Firefox 4.6, Google Chrome 5.0.335.1, IE8, and Opera 10.50, and they all cause the audio to skip. I've also started up and used Microsoft Outlook, Word, and OneNote 2010, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Drewamweaver CS4, and burnt three CDs and one DVD using either Win7's own CD burning utility and Ashampoo Burning Studio 9 while listening to music in, alternately, MediaMonkey 3.0.2.1294 and JR Media Center 14.0.50, and none of them caused any audio dropouts even when processor usage jumped to nearly 80%.

I'm now officially stumped. While just typing the above information the audio skipped several times. I verified that no other pages were loading (I'm using Chrome right now, and this is the only tab open) and all other applications were closed. I started up Microsoft Word while playing some audio and typed at least a page of random text, and the audio played flawlessly. The problem has to be somehow connected to browsers, but I cannot even begin to figure out what could be going on.

While trying to fix my wife's computer system (downgrading from Win8 to Win7); I was web surfing through some various websites for advise on how to do some things.  Next, what appeared to be a blank window opened up behind the Chrome browser I was using at the time, and when I minimized Chrome to see what was behind  it, it was a totally red screen of about 1/4 sized window entitled,"This cannot be right." and stated that if I remain on that website I could contract Malware.  So, I went to task manager, thinking I was doing the right thing and shutting down that window from there.  I did not think anything more about it as it was late and went to bed.
However, this morning, I booted up my system. I was able to get my email ok.  Then,  I noticed that my Avast update popped up , I updated it and then it opened up Chrome to verify that the updated was successful, but Chrome never came up. It just timed out.  So, I tried to open up Firefox and also Internet Explorer. Hi all. My first post here. Well here's my dilemma... I am a 32-bit Windows 7 user. Mozilla Firefox is my primary web browser. I use IE 8 and Chrome occasionally. Of late, I do not remember since when, lot of webpages never open completely - they're either refreshing even after opening or keep refreshing without loading the actual page [I'll attach the screenshots, for better clarity] IMPORTANT thing being, I am able to download music/videos off other websites at the optimum speed. I am on a 512 kbps plan (sucks, yeah) but I do get the desired speed ONLY when downloading something from the internet, that is, somewhere between 60 - 64 kBps download speed. I use IDM to download music/videos, etc. Here's a screenshot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2387250/s01.JPG -- That's an MS Answers website page - which is stuck in the process of loading for over 5 minutes. It still hasn't loaded BTW. Another screenshot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2387250/bleeping.JPG -- Make a note that this page has been open for over 5 minutes. Another thing to note, why does it say "waiting for platform0.twitter.com" at the bottom?? I am clueless! And yes, my Firefox browser is a new install, has not add-ons whatsoever (for now). I reinstalled it from scratch. P.S The same behavior, as described above happens with IE and Chrome, too. Hence I'm not attaching any screenshots. Even when using IE in no add-ons mode, the issue persists. Things I have tried:1. Full system virus scan (not a quick scan) wit... Read more

I know other users have had issues with this but I didn't know if I could follow the solutions for their problem or not.

(Not sure what information is helpful so I'll start and the top and be brief)
For my job I am required to sometimes go to 'suspect websites' and normally Norton will catch anything before it even has a chance to download. Sadly, two weeks ago I did download a file called Trojan.Gen (or at least that is what Norton called it). Almost immediately Norton caught and removed all threats but I knew I wasn't going to get off that easy.

For a few days everything seemed fine but shortly after I started seeing attack messages from Norton from \device\harddiskvolume1\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe, the IP and web address changes.

I couldn't tell if it was doing anything to my computer and have since been trying to remove it with no luck with Norton. Now, my web pages are being redirected to either a fake search page or a Pay Per Click page, if I click a link in Google.

Norton and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free are telling me that they are not detecting anything.

I did read the preparation guide, so I hope I have all the information that is needed.

I want to thank you in advance for any help that I can get and I understand that this is a process. I appreciate your time!

I've been having this problem for the last few days.
I'm unable to load several websites that I often visited. Like yahoo and facebook in particular. It takes sooo long to load and it doesn't load properly. Images and words are distorted. Anything to do with yahoo, like yahoo answers, omg!yahoo, opening an article, etc. won't load at all. Error 324 will come up.

I have 3 laptops and they are all connected to the same wifi. Only 1 works perfectly. The other two, a toshiba and a mac, are having this problem.

I think it's the connection problem... Because when I used my iPhone as a hotspot, everything works fine. I have no idea why the other laptop is working just fine.

I use google chrome as my main browser. At first I thought the problem is with chrome, so I installed firefox as well, but no luck. I tried accessing the webs in safe mode, cleared cookies, cache and history, clear DNS cache, none worked. I did all this on my windows 7 laptop.

Any suggestion on how to fix it?
I'm not very tech-savvy, so please be patient with me when you're explaining it

Hi about five days ago my computer suddenly stopped loading certain websites in every browser. Some of the more known ones are:
ESPN, Amazon, Sfgate.com (SF Chronicle site), Sacbee.com (Sacramento Bee newspaper) and many others. I can still load gmail, hotmail, google and facebook without problems.

When I try to load one of these sites it says: "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading"

Now I have Vista and the Norton 360 firewall and antivirus program. I made sure I had the current versions of Java, flash player and shockwave. I have scanned for viruses using Spybot search and destroy, Kaspersky online scanner, and the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool and haven't found anything. I tried cleaning out temporary files, cache, cookies, reinstalling firefox and IE and that hasn't helped.

The new programs I added at about the time I experienced problems were Ashampoo Winoptimizer 5.04, Tuneup Utilities 2008 and Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007.

So I'm at a loss as to what to do next. It's really annoying as I can't access about half of the websites I try to connect to now. Any thoughts?

Hi,

I'm Phil. I've worked in IT for a few years now, and the following is one of the most confusing problems I've had to deal with.

At our organization, we run a network split over 8 sites. We have approximately 400~ computers. Our kit is of mixed quality - we have some solid computers, but our backend is still Windows Server 2008 R2 (we have one server at each site, linked via an internal network, and access to the Internet is routed through a proxy which handles filtering). Users login and receive settings via Group Policy.

Anyway - the actual issue we're having is that some of our machines with Internet Explorer 9 installed can only access a limited pool of websites (e.g., bbc, amazon, microsoft). Most websites do not work ("Internet explorer cannot display the webpage"), and it doesn't seem like the machine is even trying to connect to anything - it just goes to that screen in maybe 0.5 seconds.

Has anyone run into anything similar / does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Cheers,

Phil

P.S -
- Notes:
The machines can access the internet via Firefox or Chrome.
We're unsure exactly when this began to pop up, but we think it was approx. April 15th~.
It's nothing to do with our proxy, Firefox/Chrome pick the settings up from the same place as IE and they work.
System time is synced across all machines.
There's no immediately noticeable similarities between broken machines in Active Directory - we have two users in the same container and... Read more

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
One thing you might try is go to internet options/ advanced and uncheck all of the ssl boxes and check all of the tls boxes.
Those are the only differences in 9/ 10 and 11

If there's a 32 or 64 bit difference in the machines that work and don't it might be a 64 bit that might not
64 bit has Active x filtering that might be getting activated for some reason = Gear symbol or tools/ Safety see if anything there is checked if so uncheck anything that is,
Try In-Private browsing and or safe mode with networking to see if either of those have an issue,

Otherwise I'd also ask here,

HP pc, win7 home premium, sp1, 4gb, 160gb, no video/sound cards. Started a few days ago, when chrome home page failed to show bookmarks. I re-started pc, then bookmarks re-appeared. since then, the same websites either fail to load at all (chrome), or load completely (firefox/ie). for instance, www.directv.com, gives 'aw snap' on google, ie and firefox will load partially down to the exact same place on the page, then lock up for 30-60 seconds. after that, system seems to crawl for 1-2 minutes. there are only 3 websites (so far) out of about 40 that do this, and prior to this problem, they all loaded just fine. at the same time bookmarks disappeared, background turned black, managed to put windows logo back on-but a little strange. Around this time, Chrome must have updated itself to ver.55, but I don't know when.

I have a newer dell laptop that shares same network, and all websites load fine.
Far as I can guess, can't be the browsers, or network, so hardware? but what hardware problem will cause only certain websites not to load?
Thanks.

I am an old dog with entrenched habits and wish not to adopt chrome browser (just don't like it). But Chrome will play videos from certain sites including ESPNFC.com with no problem.....WHY will Firefox not play them?!!? It is one of these very agitating problems that is not the end of the world but eats at me nevertheless.

So I am coming to you fine tech folk for a helping hand if one of you has some spare time to educate and help.

What i've done:

1. I've uninstalled-reinstalled latest version of Flash player adobe.
2. I have latest firefox version 43.0.1
3. running XP home edition
4. All youtube, dailymotion, all regular site videos WORK...no problem....including the regular ESPN.com site.
5. I've done the uncheck "hardware acceleration" exercise with flash settings
6. In my mind I've tried EVERYTHING that has been advised but nothing works for me.
7. Firefox add-ons (plugin section) will not allow me to uninstall/re-install so I can't really try that...but all updated flash versions have been done.
8. It worked for me a few weeks ago but now it doesn't. I don't remember doing anything (downloading or updating anything) that could have corrupted .....maybe I clicked on an ad or something that changed something.
9. I have run CCleaner, superantispyware.
10. I even tried updating host file
So, again, it is ESPNFC.com site and a couple of other sport sites that provide sports game videos to watch (not live streaming)....that do not work. YET, they work in Ch... Read more

A:Firefox will not play ESPNFC.com videos -- Chrome does.

Try this: In firefox, click "Help", then click the "Restart with Add-ons Disabled..." link, then click the "Restart" button, then click the "Start in Safe Mode" button".

Type in ESPNFC.com in Firefox's address bar and press [Enter].

Click any of the "circle with an arrow head in it" you see on any of the videos on that page, then click the "Activate Adobe Flash" that appears there, then click the "Allow Now" button (near the top left).

If you have Adobe Flash installed correctly, the video should now be playing.

I'm struggling with getting Youtube videos to play in IE9 and Firefox 24 on my work computer. The videos play one second, then reset, then play the one second again, then goes to the fuzzy screen and "An error occurred, please try again later" message. They do play in Chrome. I used to be able to play them in all browsers.

I've googled and tried everything people suggested. I do not have an ad blocker (that I know about), other than the pop-up blockers that come standard on the browsers. I did a complete wipe and re-install of Flash. I have active scripting enabled.

I don't like Chrome, so I keep having to copy shortcut then open Chrome and paste there. It's getting old. Any ideas?

Thank you!!

Hello forum

After recently buying a new custom PC, I've yet to find big flaws in the system.
Yet now I found one that is pretty annoying!

I'm not able to download any files (while using Firefox). After a download is ready in the 'download'-tab, it's not openable. The 'open' and 'open file location' buttons are greyed out. So I can't find the file I download nor open it.
This is proving to be a severe problem, since I'd like to install certain programs and download addons for WoW.

Already tried using Internet Explorer, yet when downloading anything it gives me the message: 'Your current security settings do not allow you to download this file' ( or something along these lines ).

Any idea's? I'd like to reinstall Firefox to see if that helps, but I got no current browers who is capable of downloading the files needed!

system:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Cheers in advance!

A:Mozilla Firefox, problems with downloading files.

Hello Broxxar, I may be stating the obvious to you but do you have your 'Options' set correctly in Firefox?
I've attached a graphic of the 'Option's in the 'General Tab' and you should nominate where to save your downloaded files to. In Windows 7 it defaults to 'Downloads', however you can 'browse' to a different location that you may prefer. You will also see that you can 'tick' the box to 'Show the Downloads Window when downloading a file should you wish. I don't and a pop-up appears on your Taskbar to show download completed. I only hope this helps.
Regards.

Hi there,

I contracted a virus a few months back and managed to remove it sucessfully with help from the MalwareBytes forum. However, when doing Google searches in Firefox a few days later I was beginning to notice that the search results I was clicking on were not taking me to the places they were intended to go.

http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/ always seems to be behind the issue. Although this problem is intermittently occuring it is now beggining to get on my nerves!

I have scanned my computer for viruses using a combination of AVG Free and MalwareBytes which have both come back negative. So I am not too sure what to do next.....looking at another post on the forum almost identical to this the problem seemed to be with a bogus Firefox extention. I strongly believe that this could be the potential source of the problem.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

Kind regards

Richard

Gigaom reports how sources "directly involved" with the project gave details of the device and even provided a prototype of the product. It is possible, should the unit hit retail the shelves, that it will be called 'Netcast' as this is a term seen in some recent Mozilla developer notes.

I don't know if my problem is Firefox or WordPress but I thought I'd try here first.
I use WordPress to publish articles and usually copy and paste from the finished article in the Articles forum to WordPress but since I reinstalled Win 7 this no longer works as paste is no longer an option when I right click in WordPress, or at least in the particular part that I need it to. I can, however, do it in Internet Explorer, but images aren't copied over, which they used to be. I've tried all the usual things like clearing the cache, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A:Is this Win 7 or Firefox at fault? Moved from Mozilla/Firefox browsers

Hi,
I am using Win-7 too but I haven't used IE. So my suggestion is to, try another browser for the same purpose and then see the effects (I feel firefox is well suited for the purpose). If you are getting same problems then, you are missing with some features of Win-7 otherwise, it is the website issue.

Recently my Google Search results have been getting hijacked to ad websites. Whenever I delete my cookies it goes away for awhile, then comes back. I also have occasional audio advertisements play on my computer, I found whatever trojan is doing this, is using iexplore.exe. I ran a scan with Spybot S&D, and it found some things, but things are still being redirected. I ran a scan with HijackThis, and the log is pasted below. If you could have a look at this, and see what could be doing this. I am running Windows 7 32bit Ultimate, with everything updated, all updates. I have Kaspersky IS 2010 installed. All help is appreciated. Hey there. I've recent been having problems with Firefox/Google Chrome where my searches are being redirected to random sites when I click on the results. In addition the spellcheck function doesn't work if this searches are mistyped. I've tried several different programs with no success in fixing the matter. Among them are Dr. Web Cure it. As well as Malwarebytes which caused my computer to crash both times I tried using when it reached a file called zipfldr.dll

I've looked around at a couple sites but as nothing seems to be working I thought I'd give this a try. Any help would be apperciated, and it only seems to be affecting Firefox, and Chrome. Oh, and in addition to the redirect it's highlighting random phrases within the webpage with something called Clicksor, as well as the redirects going through something called 123bounce.

I have enjoyed Firefox for some time now but tried out Google Chrome on a whim. I really liked it once I started figuring out how to arrange my bookmarks across the top of any page.
I found that it was almost what I was looking for, not quite, but almost.

Then I found SpeedDial in FireFox Add-ons and WOW! After half an hour of setting all my bookmarks up I started getting that deflated feeling again. It was close, just not close enough.

THE SOLUTION, Fast Dial for FireFox. It pops up as my home page, is fully customizable, has the option to create folders so I was able to create a link to a second and a third page of bookmarks, I was able to find logos/icons for more than half of my sites bookmarked and plain, yet attractive file icons for the rest. They let you change layout, page background color or image, size, bookmark background color or image or icon and you can assign icons from one thing to something unrelated without any problems. NOW WHEN I GET ONLINE ALL OF MY FAVORITES ARE AT MY FINGERTIPS IN A SLEEK FORMAT AND WITHOUT ALL THE CLUTTER OF A "MSN" HOMEPAGE OR THE BLINDING WHITE OF A "GOOGLE" HOME PAGE.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WILL DO IF THIS IS EVER DUMPED AS AN ADD-ON. CHECK IT OUT AND SEE FOR YOURSELF.

Humbly submitted by the easily pleased!
