Mail server issue - Help!

Q: Mail server issue - Help!

I recently registered mydomain with Yahoo. I created a little web site. I decided to buy MDaemon Mail Server and host and look after my own mail. So I added my MX record to my Yahoo services so that Yhoo no longer look after any mail for me.

I opened the appropriate ports in my router and firewall to allow for this. I also got a static IP address from my ISP. But everytime I try to send a mail to a user @mydomain I get the following failed mail delivery message.

Preferred Solution: Mail server issue - Help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi

I am desperate to resolve this issue, as I have been getting this 0x800ccc0e error from Outlook on my laptop, regarding failure to connect to my virtual server (apache tomcat running windows server 2008)

I tried to connect to my email via Webmail on Plesk, and received a failed login. The same for all accounts.

The problem arose when just minutes after sending through an email okay, I tried a follow up email to the same person and received this 0x800ccc0e error message.

I check on the server and noted that Mailenable Professional was not running IMAP properly, as I have exceed my trial period, so I spoke to them and installed Mailenable Enterprise on over the top to keep the trial running.

It kept the same settings, and IMAP and all the other services on the same accounts worked.

Having gone back to Outlook on my laptop, and tried to send. I got the same error.

Since then, I have disabled all anti-virus (KASPERSKY PURE / SPY WARE DOCTOR / MALWARE) on my laptop and server (SYMANTEC END POINT), disabling the firewalls to no avail.

I tried setting up an account with POP as opposed to IMAP, and test fails in Outlook. I have also verified the account details to be the same, as had worked previously for a long time.

I've tinkered with some port changes via other forums, and its not worked either. Plus did a run of registry cleaners on both systems, as well as resetting machines etc.

My colleague has just informed me, that when he went into his emai... Read more

A:Server (WINDOWS 2008) Mail Issue (MAIL ENABLE)

This has now been resolved, by the kind folk at mailenable.

Here are details of the fix, from the email they sent me:-
Ok we have logged into the server and performed a telnet test locally on the
server to see if we were able to connect to the MailEnable POP, IMAP and
SMTP services which were unsuccessful. We could see that you are running
Symantec Endpoint protection which is includes a firewall option. We added
the MailEnable IMAP service to the firewall rules which allowed us to
successfully connect the IMAP service. You can now use the Horde webmail
interface and log in using the IMAP protocol.

We then tried adding the SMTP service to the Symantec Endpoint Protection
firewall rules, however this did not make any difference. So we then
accessed the MailEnable SMTP properties and enabled the alternate port for
the SMTP service to listen on (587). We were then able to telnet to the SMTP
service on port 587 which indicates that there is some other
application/firewall that is blocking access on port 25. I noticed that the
Windows firewall was also running so we added a rule to the firewall for the
SMTP service and can now successfully connect to the service and send using
the Horde webmail interface. I'm quite certain that your Outlook errors
should be addressed so give it go and see if you can send/receive from the
Outlook client.

Cheers, and I hope this helps anyone who has a similar situation.

Best regards
A*

Since SP2 was installed, client cannot receive emails, client can send only. I configured the windows internet security and firewall and everything seems fine in the windows OS. Clients mail server said everthing looks ok on their end. Any clues??

A:Issue with WinXP Home and Outlook Express and DSL mail server

Is it any e-mail or attachments? SP2 disables attachments when installed...you have to open OE....tools..security tab and untick the box. This is the same for images...so if a user sends an email with an image or background it will be blocked.

Mail app push email notification for Outlook account stopped to work today (it was working for one year). I haven't changed anything. Note it stopped to work
on two different devices at the same time. The only way to get new messages is manual synchronization despite of it reports "Up to date" which is not true now. I have also reinstalled the Mail app, no change.

I believe it is a server issue because TcpView now reports connection to
dub407-m.hotmail.com server (on both devices affected) while there was something that starts with snt<number> before when it had worked. It seems to be Microsoft account specific because notifications on other Microsoft account where Mail app

Is there any way to check whether the notification works on dub407-m node or to force connect my account to the old snt-xxx node that worked for one year ? Currently the mail account becomes useless without incoming email notifications.

I have 2 email addresses, one through a company server, and the other a regular ISP account. Using Windows live mail 2012.

-The company email address I can not receive message, but I can send.
-The ISP email address seems to work fine although it seems like I am getting
less emails especially spam type stuff, or anything auto generated.

The servers, ports, password is all accurate. I first had this problem 3 weeks ago, online forum suggested to disable anti virus suite, so I did McAfee I uninstalled it.
So Windows Defender is running now, Windows 10. If I disable Defender it does not solve the problem.

Anyway the problem has resurfaced again. Same problem logging onto Webmail, the one account does not receive. I loaded eM Client (in case it was a live mail problem) same issue.

When I refresh for mail on the company email account I am prompted to enter my password, so I do that and hit ok, it keeps bouncing back. Says unable to send or receive password is incorrect (I can send though)
The error message is
Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server response? ERR log in failed
then list the server name
Windows Live Mail Error 0x800CCC92
Protocol POP3
Port 110
Secure (SSL) No

Any help is appreciated.

Also when I set up eM Client it automatically attempted multiple port possibilities.

Hey All,

I am working on a server and recently two of their mail accounts have began not sending out email. When I first looked into the outbound box, the mail I sent out is still pending. It usually takes anywhere from 1 minute to several hours to for it (Argosoft Outbox) to be delivered. Also, when I send out a email to that particular a particular address, it will just sit there.

I have also done scans with AVG 8.0 and found that it had I-Worm/Bagz.D infection. I quickly quarantined that infection as to not allow to infect other files on the pc / server. I have also done a Hijack This Scan, please can someone look at this and tell some about what I am making out.

Hi Everybody!
I was wondering if I could get some help... I have had Outlook Express for a while, and whenever I end up doing a system recovery or something, my outgoing server either STOPS working, or STARTS working, even though I really change nothing. I have one e-mail address I use, it is under verizon.net. My servers are:

incoming.verizon.net
outgoing.verizon.net (i've also tried the other smpt.outgoing.verizon.net (if that's correct)).

Nothing has worked. I can receive e-mails, but whenever I want to send an e-mail, I have to go straight to the verizon.net website, and copy & paste the subject, the e-mail address, and the e-mail itself. Can anybody help? I am really lost, I've looked every where for a solution! I just want some ease in sending my e-mails & receiving them ALL with Outlook Express.

I use DSL (with verizon).

Thanks in advance!

I'm a network admin, but I don't know much about how the mail system works. Currently we have an 2 NT DNS servers with a horrible freeware program that takes mail in from the outside and forwards it to our Notes server.

What I am want to know is what is the program that others use to do this? Does windows 2000 server or advanced server have some built in function that does this? I realize Microsoft's mail program is Exchange but we use Notes. So since we use Notes does this require a 3rd party app to forward the mail messages?

A:main server not communicating w/ mail server

If it is crashing there is more going on there than just a connectivity issue...sounds like a hardware or NIC problem. Patch the server to the latest service pack and try again. If you have added any new hardware or software recently it is imperative to upadate the service pack after such an upgrade. Are both of these servers on the same network and subnet? You might need to add a static route between the two if they are on different networks. Can they ping one another? Do you have Active Directory configured correctly?

Hi,

I am having an issue with offline files created offline syncing back to the server. I have set up a network share to be available offline on a client computer. All files are available offline without issue. Here is the issue however. If I set the folder to work offline any file I create in the folder when it is offline just disappears when the folder comes back online, there are no conflicts or sync failures reported in sync center. If I create a new folder offline the folder does sync back to the server. Any changes made to an existing file are also replicated back to the server once the share is back online. So the issue is only with newly created files when the share is offline. I have not been able to replicate this error on any other file server in our environment, However I have recreated the issue with multiple shares with multiple Win 7 clients on this file server.

Steps taken so far.

Checked and reset permission levels on the share.
Recreated new shares from scratch for testing.
Disabled and enabled offline files on the client computer and cleared the offline cache.
Check various registry entry settings.
Disabled cashing on the File server.
Tested with XP the issue does not exist with XP.

I have spent hours researching this error online to no avail.

The clients are running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit
The File server is Server 2003 Standard 32 bit with SP2

Any help or ideas would be most welcome.

We run a web proxy server on our network for internet access.
On client machines (running Windows 2012 R2) I have configured the proxy server setting in Internet Explorer "Tools\Internet Settings\Connections\LAN Settings" to point at the designated web proxy server.
When attempting to browse websites from IE I receive the "The proxy server isn't responding" error.
Conversely, browsing the same sites via Google Chrome and Firefox (installed on the same client server) return web pages without error.
In addition, if I run Internet Explorer as administrator (Right Click\Run as Administrator), I am able to browse web sites without receiving the error.
It would appear that the issue is isolated to browsing via IE when not run in elevated mode.
Has anyone come across this issue?

First, please try to reset the Internet Explorer. Some plug-ins may affect the proxy.
If it doesn't work, please try to perform a network capture on the client.

VISTA SP2 and windows mail.

Some of my filed mail folders have an 'odd' problem.
When I go to the folder all the mails are shown .. correct subject, date, attachment etc.

However when I click on a specific mail ... the 'body text' is wrong ... in fact all filed mails in the folder have the same body text (which is from one valid mail in that folder)

Also if I go to a mail in my inbox and move it to the problem folder ... it also then has wrong body text ! weird.

If I move that mail back to Inbox, it does not recover correct body text .. i.e. shows the incorrect 'common' text.

The computer is a year and a half old and don't remember experiencing this before that much. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not against getting a new card and probably need new power supply.

I was wondering if someone could shed some light on to this problem I am having with a web mail server. It is actually a mail server. Workgroupmail Enterprise. It has web mail capabilities but for some reason the log in page will not display when I try and go to the sign in page. So I downloaded a 3rd party web mail server that interacts with the mail server. It is IceWarp Web Mail Server. I am able to get to a sign in page and I am able to sign in and retreive email via a web browser, but I can only do this from behind my router. I have to enter http://localhost:4096 and the sign in page comes right up. I cannot figure out what I need to do and what URL I would use from a web browser outside of my router. Locahost will not work because it is referenced to my non-routable IP. I tried using my Wan IP and I get page can not be displayed I have opened the necessary ports in my router and as far as I know they are the correct ports. 80 being the port I opened. Any help would be greatly appreciated on how I would access my email from outside my router. If more info is needed please feel free to email me at [email protected] And yes by the way this is all being used with an ISP. The mail server itself works, and like I said I can access my email via webmail if I am behind my router.

Thanks,

TexanByBlood (Rowdy)

Hello,

I have a coursework at my uni which is to measure the response time taken to download/receive an email from a courier imap server.
I've got an intranet of 6 ubuntu machines plugged into a switch. After reading the wiki for mail server, imap & courier-imap,i'm in a state of total confusion.....So I have come out with these questions

1)To undertake this project,should i be installing a mail server,eg
postfix + IMAP on my ubunu server;then send mails from the other PCs and start measuring the performance

2)or do i need only to install courier IMAP-i ruled that out cz then there would be no way to send the email in the first place

3)I understood what the MTA does, but cant really figure out what the role of an IMAP server is.....like in this case,5 PCs connected to a mail server, what does the IMAP server do,and where would it reside on?the server machine or on every client machine..?

And in the case of a web mail like Google, where does the IMAP server reside?
Thanks in advance...I'm new to networking, plz dont flame

Cheers
David

A:mail server

Web mail has nothing to do with Imap.
IMAP is a protocol used to retrieve your email mostly used by Outlook but other mail clients have that capability as well. You do have the option to download your email using IMAP with Google mail. You just need to use a mail client that supports IMAP. Most of them do these days.

Hi, and welcome to TSG.

It depends on who owns the domain name (the part after the @ in the email address) used for the account.

If your old hosting company owns it, you may be out of luck. Your only hope might be to ask if they could forward incoming emails to a new address for you.

If you own the domain name, you would need to find a hosting company for that domain that at least provides the use of an email server. You could then change your domain name records to point to the new server.

I'm pretty ignorant regarding user operated email programs as I've always used free accounts from Yahoo, or my isp, etc. I was going to send myself a message using Outlook Express just to see how it works. When I went to send the message, it asked me for my email address for responders. So in order to use Outlook Express, I still have to have an outside email address. Is there a way my computer can be used as my own mail server so I don't have to use outside accounts? I presume it would it have to be IP based.

Get your ** REMOVED** mail right in Hotmail

what is that mean please ?

A:what is POP mail server . . ?

Hotmail uses a protocol called "http" since it was/is primarily a web based (i.e. uses a browser) email service. However traditional email servers pre-date Hotmail and other web based services. They were designed to handle email with dedicated clients and servers using special "mail" protocols: pop3 for receiving (download and delete from server), smtp for sending, and imap for viewing what is on the server before download. Historically many email services have used these protocols, which is how previous email clients from Microsoft have worked (Outlook Express and Windows Mail). With WLM, Microsoft decided to include the ability to download Hotmail to a client program using http without dropping support for the traditional protocols (pop3, imap) still in use by many other services. So, for those people who get their mail from different providers the WLM client will work with them all.

However, many people prefer not to use an installed client on their device but use the web browser to access their mail from providers that offer a web interface (often called "webmail"). But for each provider you would have to log in to each provider's web interface. What Microsoft has added to their Hotmail website is the ability for you to enter your login credentials for your other mail providers. Since pop3 is the most common type of mail server protocol, you would most likely be adding your pop3 access credentials for the other providers' email services. So... Read more

I've been using Mozilla Thunderbird as my email client, and my ISP is the cable company. My TBird settings are such that mail comes to the TBird mail but also stays on the server until I go to the ISP home page, log in, and manually delete it.

Yesterday I decided to use Outlook Express, so I opened an email account. I then noticed that ALL the mail on the server automatically came to the OE mailbox. That didn't bother me, but when I checked at the ISP page I was shocked to find no mail there. OE had taken all the mail from the server.

So my questions are:

1. Is there any way I can return all the mail to the server?
2. Is there a setting in OE (I looked but can't seem to find it) that will allow OE to download/display mail while letting it remain on the server?

Hi. Recently installed "I Hate Spam," and I have AVG free scanning my e-mail. Kept getting this error, first, when logging on to Outlook Express: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'inbox.allstream.net', Server: 'inbox.allstream.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '+OK 36861 octets', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F . Okay, I know it's about the 8-bit IP address, but what do I do with that? Anyway, I un-installed the anti-spam, and the anti-virus - that didn't change a thing, and sometimes I'd get the old time-out message: A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'inbox.allstream.net', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19. Tried to fix it with the help of my e-mail server company, but the best he could do was have me access my e-mail from their web page. Tried the e-mail last night, it worked fine, then I tried it again today and I got halfway thru it and it got stuck again with the octet message. Can't see how this could be an Outlook Express problem. Funny thing was, I was able to send myself a message using the control panel\mail dialog box to check if my e-mail was set up OK. I'm getting a lite DSL next week, which at least will mean that I won't have to me... Read more

I am trying to set up a mail server to go with an internet server I'm also setting up for myself. I would love some help with the following questions:

1. Do I make any changes in Apache to facilitate the e-mail server, or are they completely separate systems?
2. I have an I.P. address and a domain name, but I have no clue what to put in the POP3 field of my Smart Mail server.
3. I have the same question for the SMTP server. How do I find out what to put in this field?
4. What port does the e-mail server listen to if I've used port 80 for Apache?

I think I'm going to use SmartMail as the server and Pegasus as the e-mail program. If this is a stupid idea, feel free to set me straight.

Thanks in advance for any help with these questions.

Hi all

I now find myself needing to know more about email and mail servers and although I have watced some videos and looked online for material I still find I cannot grasp exactly how it is setup to the point where I can build my own email server.

I just need the basic bullet points.

my best guess from what ive seen so far is that I

Have a physical server with lets say ms exchange server software on it and assume i can configure it.

I aquire a static ip from a distributor online they say great you can use this one and I now use the ip address they decide on. So i punch that ip into my email server which is on a dmz port on my router.

I need a name for my email server so I go online and register a name eg. dumbass.net and next automagically if anyone pings dumbass it gets resolved to the static ip i bought from the other company because uh i was asked for/provided them with this ip when I registered the name dumbass.net

So when I register a domain name i give them the ip and then I am lookupable from the internet?

Next i configure the the exchange mail server to accept mail from outside its sitting pretty with in the network switch connected to the router with email ports open static ip punched in and people can now send email to my server.

Am I on the right path

If anyone has the right basic steps id love to hear

Thanks for reading

I've ignored this problem for about a month now, thinking it was a possible mail server attack, but there seems to be no end to it.
I am constantly receiving email that are marked 'undeliverable' by daemon or postmaster, some come in as auto noticification of vacation, or a request to validate the sent email.
However, they are all from some invalid address for my domain. I've never noticed that one is from the same sender, they all seem to be some random address like [email protected] or [email protected] I've looked at the headers and all seem to be coming from different places, and none of these are being sent by myself, or anyone with an address at my domain.
Any suggestions on how I can track down and resolve this problem?
