I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi folks, It has been about 10-11 months since I bought my X1 Carbon 3rd gen. (2015), with 512GB SSD. It comes with ThinkPlus warranty, which says battery is also covered for 3 years.A month back, my battery started getting discharged very quickly when not on AC power. I checked the the Lenovo app, which says: "The battery is in poor condition"."The battery can only store 52.9% of its original full charge capacity". Its "Design Capacity" is 50.22Wh, but now its Full Charge capacity is about 26-27Wh! Cycle count is 288. I've never used any other AC adapter, except the original that came with it.Questions:1. Is it covered under warranty? This degradation is not normal and I believe there's a replacement I can do. 2. Warranty page for my serial number on Lenovo's site lists 3 warranties:i. 3 year limited warrantyii. 3 year ThinkPlus warranty and "The battery is also covered for 3 years". iii. "The battery included within this product is entitled to a 1 year on-site warranty. Please note that this may differ from the warranty of the base product itself." So, is my battery covered for 3 years OR 1 year?

Hi, I am trying to use this tool from IBM to check my battery health (no.3 on http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4YQJZV) as when I charge my laptop now, it lasts for less than 1 hr instead of 3 hrs and the battery drains really quickly! I have cleared my computer using spyware and adware programs and I don't think there's nothing odd in hijackthis log but I keep getting this error message after downloading this tool:

Anyone got any ideas, I would really appreciate it!

My W540 is asking me to consider replacing the battery. But where I can find it??

Hello everyone! I use the t450s for school, and I'm very happy with it thus far. My only complaint is battery. Just today, I realized it had a 2nd battery. Hi, I have run BatteryInfoView on a second hand laptop that I have just purchased and it is showing that the battery health is 35%. Obviously this is not ideal but how much of a problem is it? Should I be immediately shopping for a new one?

A:Battery health

second hand laptop that I have just purchasedClick to expand...

What's the brand name and model name and model number and serial number of that laptop?

Depending on how old that laptop is and if it still has its original battery, it's normal for a certain amount of battery life to be gone from it.
The only way to know how much life is left in it is to fully charge it and then disconnect the power adapter and then run on battery power only and then time it.

What's the best way to prolong the battery's life?  Keep it plugged in or allow it to discharge and recharge almost daily?  Thanks for your help.Ron

A:Battery Health

maintaining the battery at 70 to 80% charge whilst plugged in is the best, if you want to store the battery then 40% charge is the best. Don't do small top up charging, as this will wreck the battery, do a complete discharge and recharge every 3 months, if you don't use the battery regularly.

How do I carry out a basic health check on my pc? To make sure everything is fine, like CPU, Memory, HDD? Are their programs I can download?

I am using windows xp and its an advent laptop.

A:Health Check

Well there are certain programs like "PCCheck" that actually run on windows or as a standalone bootable Cd-rom. PCCheck is a general diagnostic that would indeed be able to check all or at least most of the hardware on your PC. The program is not free however.

What i'd recommend is downloading "Ultimate Boot Cd". It's an .ISO file that you can then burn onto a regular cd-rom with any Cd-rom burning application, like Nero or Burnaware.

The UBCD contains freeware and opensource programs that run right from the cdrom that will test your CPU, Memory and hard-disks. I believe this might be your best bet at getting your "health check" done.

I have had some problems with my PC freezing up and as part of the troubleshooting want to rule out the SSDs (no HDD in this PC). The two drives are Samsung Evo 850s, 500GBs. I installed and ran the Samsung Magician software, which produced the following results (speed test rather than health report, per se, I suppose):

Disc 1 Seq. Read = 5,241 MB/s, Seq Write = 616 MB/s, Random Read (IOPS) = 278,118, Random Write = 10,032
Disc 2 Seq. Read = 5,397 MB/s, Seq Write = 427 MB/s, Random Read (IOPS) = 279,377, Random Write = 10,021

I am not sure what these figures represent - they seem way higher than any I have found by Googling. Assuming that the read/write speeds are OK (?), does that in itself indicate that the disc health is also good. I assume not...

How do I check whether the freezing up of the PC is not due to an SSD issue? Are there any (freeware) tools that would do this and not just benchmark Read/Write speeds?

To be honest, I don't have an 'in depth' understanding of this - I know that SSDs don't have 'sectors' as such, so Windows reporting that an SSD has 'bad sectors' is a bit of a red herring (if I have understood correctly!)... In other words, what in practice does an SSD Health Check tool actually check - or is such a thing not really of any value?

Any info on this appreciated.

Another question I have got is regarding the Windows Experience Index. When I first got the laptop,Graphics gave me 5.7 and Primary hard disk gave me 6.4.When I done it today,Graphics has fallen to 5.4 and primary hard disk has fallen to 5.9.I did the tests under the same settings.Graphics is integrated Intel4000.Can anyone tell me the reason for these figures falling?

A couple days ago I tried to install a new PCI to USB Card, the USB on my Motherboard doesn't work anymore

A:T450s Won't Boot After Battery Depletion

It sometimes takes an hour or so before the battery appears to begin charging from total empty, but usually it should boot fine regardless.Do these have the internal battery as well as an external battery?

Read other 5 answers

Hi, I like that my T450s has 2 batteries. But the thing that bothers me is that the removable battery is drained first entirely prior to using the built-in battery. I've noticed that this increases the "cycle count" of the removable battery as essentially the battery has been completely used. In other laptops this is not a problem as they come with 1 battery and the cells are depleted uniformly.  This has only become a concern for me when I want to use the laptop for long hours without a charger. This would increase the cycle count of the removable battery if done on a daily basis. By doing so will I be ruining the battery life ?  Pls let me know, thanks.

A:T450s - How many cycles can the removable battery ...

Not sure, but I guess this is a bit by design, True the external is wearing more by having more cycles, but this also means that the internal one has a increased live time. The external one will be the first to wear, but is also the more easy one to replace .I already have 2 externals with my laptop. But I get your point and I'm curious about it too. Depleting a battery fully will wear a Li-ion more then not fully depleting it (if my study's where right that is). So it might be true that the less wear on the internal battery does not compare equally to the extra wear caused to the external battery. On the other hand, the extra wear might not be that great to worry about. And this dubble battery design does give us the awesome feature to hot-swap external battery's (which I use quite more that I thought I would).

Hi all, My 2-year old Lenovo T450s is experiencing charging problems. If I plug in the battery charger, it starts charging for a second, it then stops, then the cycle starts again. Needless to say that none of the batteries (neither the built-in nor the external) charge properly. I tried to: (1) buy a new battery charger, (2) unplug the external battery leaving the internal plugged in, (3) unplug the built-in (internal) battery leaving the external plugged in. None of these solutions worked. I then unplugged both batteries and plugged the battery charger, and the laptop works. What do you think? Is it a hardware problem (perhaps related to the motherboard - I can't think of anything else)? Is it a software problem? Thank you in advance for your time! Best, Paolo

Is there any (free preferably) health check or diagnosis software that I can run on my machine from time to time to check it is ok or after there is a problem?

Or if people could recommend any useful tools I can put on a USB stick to repair a problematic machine?

My computer has unwittingly downloaded programs that i can not un- install. When i use the internet, my usual Google home page does not come up. Instead, i get some random browser. Other programs are also not working properly ans something keeps asking me to start a scan on my computer. Please can you help me remedy the situation and bring my laptop back to good health.

A:need general clean up...health check!

Lots of things you can try.  I guess I'd start with the free version of Malwarebytes.  Get it up to date, boot to Safe Mode and do a full system scan with it and your antivirus.  Reboot to normal mode.  If the problem persists, run SFC from an elevated command prompt.  Click Start, go to the search box and type CMD.  Then right-click CMD.EXE and click Run as administrator.  From the command prompt type SFC /scannow.
Good luck.

Today, my computer decided to fail. From now on, everytime I start up my computer, it gives 4 error messages:

'Cannot initialise application correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to end the application.'
Microsoft Windows
'Sharetest has stopped working'
'A problem has occured which caused the program to stop working correctly. The program will be closed and you will be noted when a solution is available'

Picture 3:
Microsoft Windows
'HP Health Check Scheduler has stopped working'
'A problem has occured which caused the program to stop working correctly. The program will be closed and you will be noted when a solution is available'

The errors in picture 2 came up when I closed the error in picture 1, and the error in picture 3 came up when I closed the upper error in picture 2.

Also, (this is actually more a problem that should be in the games forum, however it seems very relative to this problem as it started at the same time), ever since this happened I have had problems with a certain game (MapleStory Private Servers), as they would no longer start up. I clicked and doubleclicked but no they wouldn't even give an error, or connection failure: th... Read more

A:'HP Health Check' bringing problems.

For your info, the first picture is the first error, the second picture are errors 2 and 3, and the last picture is the last error.

Also, it might be that this is wrongfully placed and should be placed in the windows vista forum, I just wasn't sure if HP Health check had much to do with Vista.

everytime i do some installation of new software or encounter some application crash or hang ups...the best thing to do to check whether your computer is working fine is check EVENT VIEWER.

is this the right thing to do to check your computer health?

A:EVENT VIEWER: use to check your PC health?

Vista has an over-all "health check" which will lead you to the event viewer for pertinent issues.
