I was at dell site looking at drivers to download

Q: I was at dell site looking at drivers to download

So I was over at the dell site looking at the drivers to download so I can install them on a re-install I plan on doing over the holiday break but there appears to be quite a laundry list of them Search - Dell Community

Do you recommend downloading all of these, or just the urgent and recommended ones as it looks like there are some optional ones?

Preferred Solution: I was at dell site looking at drivers to download

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Dell Inspiron 5558, I7, 6MB Ram , 1TB HDD, HD5500 graphics, OS - Win 8.1 64.

What is the best site to download drivers to keep system stability? I am assuming the Dell web site should be the first place to check, but should I be using the device manufactures site instead?

In the case of upgrading my graphics driver there is a number of choices available: Dell, Windows update, Intel, Windows Device manager and probably 3rd party sites. All have different versions and file names of the latest driver. Windows Device manager provides no info during the update when searching and downloading from the web.

When I went there and put in my service tag, it listed 36 things for me to download. 9 of the 36 were zip files.

I first installed the app files, 1 or 2 of which were useless since they had to do with a 1515 adapter and my system came with 1300, so I'm not sure why this is listed for my specific computer.

Then I went and dealt with the zip files, though it appears all of them are not compatible with my vista 64bit (wtf?) so again I'm not sure why these files are listed for the service tag I put in (I guess each individual or type of operating system has one).

Secondly I wonder what is a "firmware reflash" since it was in one of those zip files and I let it run and do it's thing (this is more important for me at the moment) did a search and didn't find answers.

I am constantly having this problem with my laptop. As I plug in and unplug my headphones throughout the day, I've noticed that after a couple times the bass gets really quiet and almost completely drops out. Since I have some pretty decent audiophile headphones with really great bass, it is super annoying and noticeable.
One workaround I have discovered is to go to the audio settings (either in Windows or the Dell Audio app), and switch the Default Format (the thing with 24-bit, 48000Hz in it)  to something else, play some audio, then switch it back.
A little word on my setup: I have the latest drivers from the Dell download page installed. I am running Windows 10 64-bit with all the updates. I have Waves Maxx audio "enhancements" disabled. My Default Format is usually set to 24-bit 48000Hz, but the problem eventually happens no matter what I set it to. The "headphone size" option is set to "Medium", but as far as I can tell this option does nothing if I do not have Waves Maxx enabled. Switching it also does not fix the problem.
If I play audio using WASAPI (this basically means that the music player takes over the sound card completely, and bypasses whatever audio processing Windows and the driver has) the problem does not happen.
How do I fix this problem? It's incredibly annoying, and most likely has something to do with the audio driver, since this does not happen in Linux, and it did not happen when I was runn... Read more

(Please pardon my redundancy - I have posted this to the Customer Care Board and Client Service forums - just hoping to correct what I hope was an accidental change in support policy.)
This is not a technical comment but it is a comment about Dell's Technology Support. Recently the support site for laptops, and I presume other areas though I have not checked, was revised to change its structure. In the process many items were removed notably having to do with drivers for older systems. Even if a system is past warranty that does not remove the responsibility for Dell to continue to provide the most recent (even if old) drivers especially since the cost of doing so is trivial. This is especially the case when Dell is the only source for specific drivers. A specific example is a Dell Vostro 3700 laptop which uses the embedded GPU in the CPU as well as outboard nVidia GPU; the hybrid video architecture is such that NVidia provides no driver and re-directs users to Dell's site. In the case of this specific model, most of the drivers that were present a month ago are now gone.
Dell laptops have two things going for them - good products at a good price and a great support site. This has prompted me to continue focusing upon Dell - e.g. two new 5759's in 2017, and to recommend Dell to colleagues and friends. I have had recent occasion to review some very old systems on HP's support site - all relevant drivers continue to be available. I strongly recommend that Dell c... Read more

After a clean install of Windows 7 i needed to install drivers for my graphics, the CD i got with my laptop won't install the Drivers and when I try and download them from Dell's driver site it will download around 5-10% before it suddenly stops and says its done. I've tried doing this on two other computers I own, in different browsers and they all do the same thing. The download size on the site says 155MB but the file size is only 46MB.

When i try and open the Driver that is downloaded it comes up saying:
"This self-extracting zip file is part of a multidisk zip file. Please insert the last disk of the set"

(I did try my Driver disk, but nothing happened)

I keep clicking OK, and it comes up with:
"An error occured while unzipping. One or more files were not succesfully unzipped. The error code is 110"

I tried a Google search for the error code but not of them talk about the Drivers or a zip file. I'm at a loss... Please help? I'm sick of having my res set low because it wont go any higher.
(I wasn't 100% about putting this here or in another section, sorry if I got it wrong)

Just bought a new Dell Inspiron i5559-3349SLV with windows 10 pre-installed. I am planning on doing a clean install this weekend, but I'm not completely clear which drivers to download to complete the reinstall.

It has a 128GB SSD, so I know I need this driver. There is a newer and older version - does it matter which I use?

For the wifi drivers here (under network), there are two wifi options. How do I determine which driver is the right one? Also, for all the other drivers, do these need to be downloaded or will Windows 10 automatically download all of those again after the install?

Lastly, out of the drivers listed on Dell's driver reinstall guide, which are actually necessary?

Apologies for the noob questions. Thanks!

I have recently upgraded to windows 10 and everything seems file except one problem I am facing which is the wifi card connectivity issues. My connection to router drops very frequently, curently the generic driver which windows think is appropriate is installed. I wanted to undate that with Dell's driver which I can't find on driver download section. 64 bit WiFi driver is NOT there. 32 Bit driver is but that won't install on my machine.
Can someone from Dell help? either to give me the link for correct driver download or confirm driver is not available in which case I would need to downgrade to windwos 8 as the system is unusable in its current state.

A:Dell Inspiron 15R 7520 SE - Windows 10 64 Bit WiFi Driver not available on Dell Site

On the Drivers & Download pages for the Inspiron 15R 7520 there are only 64-bit options for Windows, whether 8.0,8.1, or 10.   So those drivers are the ones for the 64-bit version of Windows 10, as long as you filter the operating system option to Windows 10 64-bit.
The file name may state "Win32" but if you click on the "View Details" link, and then check "Supported Operating Systems" near the bottom of the page you'll find that the driver supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
You don't mention which wireless card you have in that system so I can't link directly to the specific driver.  Which card do you have and what error are you getting when trying to install the drvier?
I would also recommend updating the firmware on your router.  Many routers need an update to be able to handle Windows 10 specific drivers and cards reliably.   What router brand and model are you connecting to?  And do you have problems with all routers or just this one.
Lastly, here is a link to the Dell Networking & Wireless Support Center.  You will find a few support articles in there that may be of help to you.
Let me know which card you have and when the last time you updated your router and, if you can't get the connection to work, I'll see what else I can suggest to help you.

Would any of you please tell me where to find the proper 64-bit drivers to use on a Dell Inspiron 531S?

The official Dell website does not share drivers for that edition of XP. My computer came with Ubuntu pre-installed. Please help me get the right drivers XP Pro (64-bit).

The only reason why I'm searching for 64-bit drivers for XP is because I have no interest in using Windows Vista or any 32-bit operating systems from Microsoft. Like I mentioned before, the Dell website is not offering the proper drivers I need for this computer and the Windows XP (64-bit).

I've read articles about getting 64-bit drivers to work on that computer, but I haven't found any website that offers the same drivers. I'm basically on my own, according to this Dell expert (see below). That person told me about the drivers without sharing 1 single link to download the 64-bit drivers (or chipset) for XP, which he/she mentioned:
Dell does not support 64 bit in that model and the reason there are no drivers. You are basically "on your own" to try and find suitable drivers.

However, if you installed the Chipset drivers, Windows should either install a generic driver or find suitable drivers.

The correct install sequence is (1) Install Windows (2) Install chipset driver (3) Install Device Drivers.

On Intel systems the chipset drivers define what is on or attached to the motherboard. I assume the AMD drivers do the same thing.Click to expand...

A:Dell site won't help me. How do you get XP Pro (64bit) to work on Dell 531S?

Hi there

The very best database for drivers is DriverGuide.com . You need to create a free account to gain access.

What the tech suggested was installing enough drivers to get your networking to work and then letting Windows find all the missing drivers automatically using the now working internet by selecting the option "search for drivers automatically" when installing the devices through the add/remove hardware applet in the Control Panel.

Advertisements are shown on this site unless you are logged on with your forum account as a registered member. These are AdSense Google Ads which is allowed in order to defray the cost (pay the bills) of maintaining the board. Although the site owner permits ads, we have no control over them and BC does not recommend or endorse any of the advertisements. Sometimes the ads are for downloading junk registry cleaners and optimizers or other worthless applications we do not recommend. When not logged on, some folks may click the incorrect download link or unknowingly click a link which downloads or attempts to download a program they did not intend to install. Again, if you are logged in to the forum, you should not see any advertisements and that's one reason we encourage our members to sign in first.BC does not allow popups to be displayed on the site. If one is being shown it is either a rogue advertisement or an infection on your computer.

There is a certain website where I download MP3's, but lately a message keeps coming up "Internet Explorer is not able to open internet site. It is unavailable or cannot be found". I've never had this problem before (I recently got RoadRunner). When I go to Microsoft help, it says to disable the ASP dynamic error page. It gives instructions to right-click the Web site in the Internet Service Manager MMC. Could someone please explain what they are talking about? Also, I do not have trouble in any other website, just this one particular one.

Has anybody noticed that IE5.5 SP2 has been removed from the MS site? You can still get IE6.0 SP1 and IE5.01 SP2. I found IE5.5 SP2 from one of the college sites but it is not ready avaiable as it was.

I know they are stopping support for some items but don't understand starting with a newer version.

A:MS Download Site

Hi Deke

I remember after going from IE 5.0 to 5.1, shortly thereafter the Windows Update site started listing IE 5.5 as a "Critical Update". Eventually I upgraded to 5.5 and sure enough, shortly thereafter the Windows Update site now lists IE 6.0 (6.1 ?) as a "Critical Update". It wouldn't surprise me that MS is trying to wean (i.e., force) everyone to update, whther they want to or not.

There's a site to download a wide variety of device drivers, but I can't remember it. Do you know?

I'm upgrading my HP Pavilion 6540c to Windows 2000. It isn't officially supported by HP but it can be done, I'm told, with udated drivers. Any help would be delightful.

A:s/w driver download site

I would suggest you go to www.hp.com
- click on:
> Support & Drivers
> HP Support for your product
> Home PCs

Enter your product number (HP Pavilion 6540c) in the input box and hit enter

- click on:
> Drivers and Downloads
> Windows 2000 professional link

Or follow this link if it works: http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/document.jhtml?lc=en&docName=bph05537&prodId=hppavilion18818&lc=en

Here you will find pretty much ALL the info you need about upgrading your PCs OS. The article is titled "HP Pavilion Desktop PCs - Upgrading from Windows 98 to Windows 2000"

Regarding hardware and drivers, I would suggest finding out exactly what all your hardware is, (motherboard, video card, soundcard,...etc. If you have following the above links, you should be browsing links associated with your exact model) then visit each manufacturer's site for the latest firmware and drivers. I would think after doing so, You should then be able to run Win2000 no problem. (But there is really only one way to know for sure... You canalways run the HP restore process if you run into too many problems)

Good Luck!

A:can someone tell me the right site to download PDFCreator from?

If what you want is to create a PDF from any application as a PDF printer then I would recommend BullZip PDF Printer vs PDFcreator.
Note: If all you want is to print Web Pages as PDF, then the Chrome browser allows you to do this.
