I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,
Please can anyone help me? I'm so tired of seeing the same error message keep popping up and what's it keeps closing my applications after I clicked it. It can be so frustrating!

So here's my problem, EVERYTIME I open my Yahoo! Messenger 8.0 or Windows Live Messenger 8.0 or Internet Explorer 6.0 or sometimes Mozilla Firefox 1.5. I will get more or less this error message window popup (see attachment for details):

"Yahoo! Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

and when i click to view the report, it show this:

"AppName: yahoomessenger.exe AppVer: 8.0.0.711 ModName: wininet.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.2937 Offset: 0001b7e0"

EVERYTIME I clicked 'Send Error Report' button or 'Don't Send' button it will the close the running application. It goes the same with other applications.

PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME

Hi all!
I have a problem with connecting to the internet using IE browser. Instead, using Google Chrome doesnt have any problems. So is the situation when using related instant messenger software. Windows Live Messenger & Yahoo Messenger aren't able to connect to the Net whereas Google Talk Messenger works perfectly fine.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hello sweeta, as i read your post, the solution that comes to mind is for you to confirm your settings in your Audio Manager. If you right click your Audio Manager which is usually located in the Taskbar, you should be able isolate and fix this issue . Hope i helped .

Hey guys,

Just read some similar questions to mine on this forum and other, but couldn't find anything that matched my problem. I am currently only accessing the internet through Google Chrome, which works perfectly but isn't my favourite browser, and even if it was, I'm concerned that theres something wrong with my system. Essentially, the problem is that IE and Mozilla Firefox will not start at all - when I double click on the appropriate icons the "Firefox/Internet Explorer has stopped working" error message appears, before the window has even opened.

So far I have tried the following steps:

1) Reinstalling Firefox

Reinstalled firefox once, which didn't work. Then uninstalled it totally, then reinstalled it again. Still didn't work.

2) Starting the system in "Safe Mode with Networking".

Strangely, this worked perfectly. Both browsers worked perfectly and could connect to the internet, leading me to believe there was another program or virus that was preventing the browsers from functioning.

3) Using Google Chrome

As you can see, this works, and solidified my belief in the point above.

4) Tried a wide variety of anti-virus and firewall software.

Didn't work, and Vista One wants me to uninstall McAfee before installing it, which I don't really want to do.

5) Attempted an ipconfig flush.

Using the cmd.exe command followed by an ipconfig flush. Didn't work.

What error message appears?
What is your default browser on your system?
Do you have a Different/New type firewall program installed?

If you have many server browsers installed they might be having a conflict with each other, as for the firewall programs perhaps you might have a new one installed, it might be blocking your browsers that are installed. (not sure, but this happens when you have many firewall programs installed).

or perhaps the files are not correct, if reinstalling wont work try redownloading the installer of the browser and reinstall.

Hope this helps

Okay, in a previous post I talked about how nothing worked, I couldn't open files, use internet explorer, anything. So, out of frustration I did a complete reformat. Everything is great now, except that Windows Update still won't work and sometimes freezes my computer, Internet Explorer does the same, as does Yahoo Messenger. I have run Registry Mechanic, Ad-Aware, Updated Norton and did a complete virus scan, all with no problems. I am really frustrated now. Can someone tell me what might be causing this? I was thinking possibly a software conflict, but that's just an uneducated guess and was hoping someone a little more knowledgeable could shed some light on the problem for me!

Thanks in advance!!!

I seem to have a unique problem, that I've been searching for hours for a solution on. Anytime I try to load Internet Explorer and WMP, the window will appear for a brief second then disappear entirely. I look in to the task manager and it says neither are running. The computer I'm using was riddled with viruses and malware, which I took care of, although it seems that the damage done couldn't be fixed. Windows Live Messenger is giving me error 80040154, and I've followed the solutions, none of them worked. I think that ultimately, something is preventing ActiveX from working, which is stopping all three, because I've noticed one thing in common for all three applications, that Internet Explorer is absolutely required for them to work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling up to IE8 or 9 and it still won't start up. Games such as Anarchy Online, that have an ActiveX control on the login screen, do the exact same thing, a flicker of a window then it shuts down immedietly. I can find no work around, no repair utility, or anything. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium x86. Also, a few things I've noticed that I think are related because they came up at the sime time, anytime I install something and it tries to make a link on the desktop, it comes up with an error. I can put one on myself, but Windows Installer can't seem to do it. On top of that, whenever I'd bring up something that would let you say, search for a file through Windows,... Read more

Yahoo Messenger problems...are probably best solved at their website.

If your Internet connection allows you to connect to other websites...my guess would be corrupt cookies/files, etc.

Hi, greetings to all, I have a situation that I can not seem to solve. I am definitely at the end of my rope. I work for an ISP, I have a customer who can not type in anything in her address bar in Internet Explorer without it going to yeahoo messenger's wesite. It is like it redirects her to it. She is running Win XP with Internet Explorer 6 (of course) Has anyone else ever ran into this problem? We have tried spyware removal, we did a system restore, removed search toolbars in add/remove programs and even tried CW Shredder just because I was running out of ideas. It doesn't seem to matter what we do, yahoo messenger's site returns. Any ideas would be helpful.

Yesterday my windows live messenger was compromised, it changed the display name and started spamming my friends with links. So I changed my windows live id from another machine, now messenger seems fine. However I also noticed my yahoo mail was hacked, the mail address is the username on the windows live messenger, but the mail and messenger had different passwords, so I'm not sure how they both could be hacked at the same time. In both messenger and yahoo mail it had added the same new contacts with creepy looking email addresses.

Also, the night before I was logged onto messenger and my email at the same time, something that I haven't done in years. This is the only overlap between those two I can think of. Another possibility is of course that my mail was already hacked but I never noticed, I barely even noticed yesterday due to Mail Delivery Notification Errors I recieved from the hotmail postmaster. But I have a hard time believing that my yahoo mail can hack my messenger through Chrome. (although my yahoo mail is pure flash).

So I concluded that I must have a keylogger. However full scans with Avast, Superantispyware, and Malwarebytes came up empty (except for tracking cookies).

So now I'm getting paranoid since I can't find anything, and I do not understand how I got hacked. Any thoughts or help on the matter is greatly appreciated! I can also post a hijackthis log on request.

Greetings Snifferman and Welcome to the Forums,
Before we can help with anything, we need to know a bit about the system. Please do the following:

Disable the active protection component of your antivirus and antispyware programs by following the directions that apply Here. Next, please download the free utility DDS from any of these locations...Here, Here...or Here.
Note - Some infections may prevent certain executable files from running on your computer. If one of these download locations results in a failed run of the utility, please try the next location until you find one that will work on your machine
Double click dds.scr to run the toolWhen it completes, DDS will open two (2) logs:DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop.
Next, Download GMER from the following location and save it to your desktop.

GMER Download Link 1
GMER Download Link 2 (Only use if the previous link does not work)
Right-click on the gmer.zip icon and select the Extract all... menu option. You should now see the gmer folder.
Open the folder and double-click on the gmer.exe icon. Please "ok" any prompts to allow the program to start.
You should now see the main GMER window. If you receive a warning about rootkit activity asking if you want to run a full scan, please click on the NO button.
We now need to configure GMER to prevent some features from being used during the scan. Please uncheck the following settings (we do NOT want to see these in our scan):IAT/EAT

Hello, thanks for the great site!

I have an Acer laptop running Vista Home edition. I recently installed Yahoo! Messenger on it and the next day, I could not log onto the internet anymore.

I have a wireless card in the computer and when I log on, the internet shows connected in every diagnostic check I can do, but when I try to open Internet Explorer, it just gives the same old "cannot find the page" no matter what address I put in.

I tried these things:

reset the settings to default for browsing programs
tried to start IE in no add on mode
uninstalled both Yahoo and MSN Messenger
rebooted, shut down, etc.

Nothing works. I cannot log on to the internet at all, even though the card is connected and so forth. Can anyone shed any light on this? I would re-install IE, but I can't get online. Is there a way I can download a new version to a USB drive and do it that way? Thanks!

A:Major Internet Explorer problems after installing yahoo messenger

Hi. . .

The first thing that I would do before any more restore points are lost is to try a System Restore - choose a restore point prior to the Yahoo incident - be sure to check the box (bottom left) to show you restore points > 5 days old:
START | type rstrui.exe into the start search box and hit enter

If no luck with rstrui, next look at the Device Manager for any red/yellow flags - specifically in the Network Adapter area -
START | type devmgmt.msc into the start search box & hit enter

Expand the Network tree - any red/yellow flags? Un-install ALL network drivers - right-click on each until they are all gone. Re-boot.

If no change, re-boot again - this time into SAFEMODE w/Networking - tap the F8 key repeatedly during boot-up. Test IE7 there.

If still no connection, try an alternate browser - do you have Firefox? If not, download it to another system on USB, then be sure to copy Firefox from USB to your desktop before installing. Anything?

I had the same problem before ON yahoo messenger. it was working fine then it keeps closing with the message looking for a fix and then closes , windows live Mail is find and loads up all my messages but when i reply to a message the same thing comes up windows live needs to close and find the problem to solve. Never found the reason or fix for the problem from windows. What can i do ? have i been virused on my laptop? or blocked by a firewall or replying to mail and using Yahoo messenger? why are they connected and doing the same thing . Any ideas what i can do to correct this problem on my HP Laptop Pavilion g series. Yes i can go into my browser and bring up yahoo and use the messenger there and go into hotmail on browser and use the email there, but do like the separate apps i have had that suddenly quit working right, i did remove and download both and didnt work either , Help?
Thanks NANCY

Hello!!! First tell us if you have Service Pack 1 installed for Windows 7 or not. Do you have any Internet Security suites installed or any third party firewall software installed? You have asked a good question asking if it may be a firewall or security software since from what I am reading you are using an email client. We will not assume any potential viruses yet, also because we here at the Microsoft Support portion of TSF we can not help you with that.

I found this site through fixing a problem - namely that a registry entry showed up in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\WindowsNT\drivers32 . Removing this key and the file fixed that problem but another has showed up in the aftermath. This may or may not be related to the problem but it all started at about the same time.

Now whenever I run Yahoo Messenger and open a chat window the part of the window that would display messages will not paint. No messages show up in it and moving the window around simply moves whatever image was showing through when it was opened. Closing the window results in a crash:

[codebox]AppName: yahoom~1.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.2152 ModName: unknownModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0ebb1e21[/codebox]

Windows Messenger (which I never use but thought I'd try now) crashes when it is trying to set up the passport account. It generates no error message that I can see.

In an attempt to fix the problem I have -
uninstalled YIM. Deleted the program files directory. Removed the registry entries for HKCU and HKLM.
reinstalled YIM v9.
uninstalled YIM. Deleted everything as above.
reinstalled YIM v8. (same problem, possibly a different error message)
uninstalled YIM v8.
reset the IE configuration to factory defaults.
reinstalled IE v7 (thinking it might be the embedded IE).
Installed IE v7 updates.
reinstalled YIM 9.

If you don't, it would be wise to just uninstall it.

1) Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs.
2) Select Add/Remove Windows Components.
3) Uncheck Windows Messenger.
4) Click Next.
5) Click Finish.
6) Restart the computer.

Hi
I had Windows Live Messenger and I had installed the new beta version that came out 9.0 and I tested it out but I wasn't pleased with some of the functions it had so I tried unistalling it but for some reason it does not show in my Add//Remove Program so I went through my registry and hit Ctrl+F and I deleted everything that had Windows Live name because I wanted to install an older version of Windows Live (8.5) and it would not let me until I unistalled the newest. Anyways after I finished, it would let me now install the "Windows Live Installer" (the first process to install the messenger) and when I installed it I clicked on the link where it says "Start Messenger" which it would not do anything so I installed a really older version of messenger (5.1) and had a friend send me the 8.5 version, messenger.exe. So when I clicked it, it gave me an error that I did not have the msncore.dll so I downloaded the dll and sent it to the system folder and now when I click on the exe it throws me this error that I can't seem to find a solution. If anyone could help me out with it:

msnmsgr.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point [email protected]@@[email protected]@[email protected]@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library MSNcore.dll

Thanks
PS I tried installing 9.0 beta again and it won't let me either. Im currently on crappy 5.1.

Found this:It?s not that difficult to remove the pesky little pile-on of a software: MSN Messenger!Let us keep it simple. First, make sure you have exited MSN messenger and unsinstalled any MSN Messenger related entry from Control Panel (START ? > CONTROL PANEL ? > ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS).Then, START ? > RUN the following command:RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.RemoveDone. That should remove it. If it doesn?t, check some more round-about and cumbersome ways from Microsoft that involve the Windows registry.http://support.microsoft.com/?id=302089

I'm not sure if there's any way to do it but i'll ask anyways.
I use both yahoo and live for messaging. When Live is connected it stays open in the taskbar even when the window is closed which makes it easy to navigate and change status since i keep it pinned to the taskbar. Is there a way to do so with Yahoo? With the new yahoo there's a dot on the icon to show your status if you're online or away etc... It'd be nice if i could make Yahoo function the same way as Live does when I'm logged in. So my main question is, is there any way to close Yahoo to the taskbar rather than the system tray?

A:Close Yahoo to taskbar like Live messenger

Pin Yahoo! Messenger to your Taskbar and use minimize instead of Close button
