Weird freezes playing CSGO

Q: Weird freezes playing CSGO

So sometimes i get these 1 second lags in csgo just randomly and if u play csgo, then you do understand that this is a annoying problem, like if u are spraying at someone then the lag just appears.
I just cleaned my pc from dust so its not that.
Should i check my temps while im playing?
Is there something wrong with my gpu or cpu?

I appreciate all answers!

Preferred Solution: Weird freezes playing CSGO

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Weird freezes playing CSGO

Hello Tkosj,

Have you tried doing a clean boot and running CS:GO? there could be something running in the background running that is interfering with your gaming? also do you have the latest GPU drivers for your nvidia graphics card? doing a scan with Malwarebytes and checking your temps wouldn't hurt .

I've had this build for over a year and have been playing both CSGO and GTA with no problems for quite a while. The first BSOD came whilst using the shadow play feature that Nvidia offers. I turned shadow play off and did a fresh install of Nvidia Experience and updated the drivers for my GPU (Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 ti). This seemed to work for about a a day or two and then I had another BSOD. Since then I have been experiencing BSOD irregularly. Sometimes I can play any game for hours with no problem, other times I have BSOD as soon as I start the game up. I've checked for memory errors, updated the GPU driver, scanned for malware and I'm still at a loss. Would greatly appreciate any insight. Thank you

I installed a new monitor and problem starts when "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" issue constantly appears. So I updated my AMD Catalyst Control Center and the issue stopped. I tried playing a game (CSGO), then after a few minutes, BSOD occurs. Everytime i start windows normally, after a few minutes, BSOD will happen. I uninstalled my AMD CCC (including the display driver) then BSOD stopped. But when i reinstalled my everything, BSOD happens again and again. Need Help Thanks!

Ever since i got new RAM in my pc i've experienced random BSODS with random errors, lately it was quiet but recently when i started picking up on CSGO it kept coming back ( Note: it only occured reguraly on CSGO and no other game)

I understand that it could be an RAM stick gone bad but doesn't that seem odd to you? Since it's litteraly brand new ( and it's only one brand since the two came in a kit of 16 gb 2600MHZ)

To further help you understand the error, i'll paste the memory dump and a Bios screenshot of my memory.

Hey all,

So lately in the past couple weeks outta nowhere I've been not being able to play CSGO because it will just crash and BSOD after a while of playing (like 10-30 minutes). However, while playing any other game like Overwatch or Rust it doesn't crash at all and the BSOD issue doesn't occur. So I just decided "fine, I won't play CSGO", but now it just happened whilst browsing the internet a couple weeks after CSGO bsod became a regular thing. I have the dump files and this is a formal request for help, so thanks to anyone that reads the files and can give me any info on what I can do. Thank you

Hi, I'm new to this forum so apologies for not providing all relevant info right away.
The issue I'm having is that my computer will BSOD randomly while playing games such as CSGO, Civilization V and Europa Universalis IV. The time I play before a BSOD occurs seems random, although its usually before 30 minutes of gameplay.
In other instances, my computer simply turns off without warning, and then restarts itself without even presenting a BSOD. Attached is the BSOD file I've been instructed to upload. Any help would be much appreciated

If I need to provide any other details just say the word.

My PC started crashing suddenly after installing Windows 10. I obviously thought it was fault of the OS so I reinstalled 7 Ultimate x64, yet the crashing kept on happening. I haven't done any changes to my PC and it's been stable for months. Last change was GTX970 in May. i5-3570K is overclocked to 4,4GHz but it's been rock solid so I doubt it's the cause of issues. I'm honestly completely out of explanations.

Setup: i5-3570K (4,4GHz @ 1,32V), MSI GTX970 (Stock, was OC'd before), ASRock Z77 Pro3, 2x4GB G.Skill Ripjaws 1600MHz, Samsung 840 Evo 250GB, Kingston 60GB SSD cant remember model, 1TB HDD.

From what I can tell, the issue shouldn't be GPU, Memory, PSU or SSD/HDD drives. I doubt my OC'd i5 would suddenly start acting up as it's been stable and temps have been good (I'm running AIO water). I'm pointing the finger towards motherboard as it's been acting up once in a while, but I'm not sure if that makes any sense.

I've tried:
Reinstalling clean Windows a few times - crashes and BSOD here and there keep on happening with nothing installed apart from standard drivers, Steam and CSGO.

Reinstalling Windows to another SSD - no effect.

Downgrading to 3 different Nvidia drivers and been using 353.30 - maybe little bit less crashes, no real effect

Running Memtest86 for 8 hours - 0 errors

Running 3Dmark on loop for 2 hours while overclocking the card - stable as a rock, TDP 110% so PSU should be fine

Taking another memorystick out - no effect

At first thank you for your time.
I am getting crashes when playing game like CSGO or when stress testing with prime 95(blend test/torture test threads =4).

While playing csgo it sometimes just freezes and then csgo isn't working anymore, if i then check the system log file i get WHEA warningslike: A corrected hardware error has occurred. Reported by component: Processor Core.
But sometimes it also freezes my whole pc and then when i check the windows-system logbook i see this error:
Your computer restarts, and a critical error message that resembles the following is recorded in the event log:

Log Name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
Event ID: 41
Level: Critical
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

And when i Stress test with Prime 95, it will test like 5/10 minutes and my 4 cpu's get to 91 degrees C, and then it will crash. And on the next startup i have this error:

BCCode: 3b
BCP1: 00000000C0000005

I have recently played Counter Strike - Global Offensive and encountered a BSOD that never happened before. I'm running the latest Radeon Drivers 16.3.2 and played CsGo at windowed fullscreen mode if that matters. All spec same as in my profile info.

On some forums I have read that this can be RAM related, but I don't know for sure since the BSOD might obviously have many causes.
Dump attached. Hope we can figure this out

Thanks inadvance!

Hey everyone, was referred to here from Reddit. Been having trouble the past two weeks. Random crashes during CSGO, thought it was my headset because it always said USB malfunctioned. Changed headset, mouse, keyboard everything, still crashed. Tried replacing my thermal paste on cpu, still crashed so it isn't temps. One of my RAM sticks died 3 weeks ago but I replaced it. Problem started after that but I ran Memtest and no issues. I've uploaded my zip as instructed. Also all of my drivers are up to date. Any help is appreciated, getting very annoyed by this after two weeks.

New fresh install of windows 8 updated to 8.1 with all my motherboard drivers etc up to date. Display drivers are the newest Omega drivers from AMD.

I installed steam and decided to install csgo to my ssd/C: drive since it's my most played game. Now I can play the game fine but after a short amount of time the game and display drivers will crash giving me a black screen and sound loop. I let it sit there for a while so I could get a bsod and crash dump to happen.

Since then I also updated my ssd to the latest firmware and reinstalled my AMD drivers and the problem still persists. I have no other games installed at the moment so if you wan't me to check if the crash happens with other games let me know.

Ok Im going to describe this to the best detail I can. Its late. Im tired

Ok so I burnt a dvd tonight.
It was an avi file movie.
I used DVD Flick to create it. On my 32 htdv lcd and my panasonic dvd player, it plays with no problems.

But when I go to play it on my projection tv it plays wrong. The sound is fine, the picture is there, but the picture moves from the top of the screen to the bottom as if it was on a reel.(if that makes any sense)

Its as if the refresh rate is different for the tv.

I played around with a million settings but cant seem to figure out.

I change the mm delay on the tv and it seems to slow down the speed that the picture moves from the top of the screen to the bottom, but I cant be to sure, think its in my head.

I really cant seem to figure this one out.
Even the menus on the dvd player move with the picture when its playing.

If anybody has a clue what Im talking about, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A:Burnt DVD Playing weird

Yes, most of us have seen this when copying movies (well after its done)

It's the built in legal part that's doing it. The part that says you cannot copy this movie. To stop users actually copying movies like this, the manufactures have placed protection mechanisms on it, thus causing the scrolling affect on playback.

Now that's laymans !

There are a number of tools (software programs) that can stop this protection, but I'm not sure if I should discuss them. Anyway I've answered the question

Hello, I really hope you guys can help me, because i've tried almost EVERYTHING to stop this from happening and i can't.

So the problem is, when i'm running some games (not all), suddenly my screen goes black, with an out of range message floating around, after that my computer reboots, and says that Windows encountered an error.

Error: 116
Region_ID : 2070

To test if this error occurs i usually run Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and after 10-15m it happens...

I will post my computer specs, together with GPU and CPU data including temperatures (altough i'm sure that this isn't the problem).

Now so far these are the things i did:

-Updated all drivers.
-Updated the BIOS.
-Run prime95 for 24 hours (nothing happened).
-Run FurMark, torture test for the GPU, and it never crashed.
-Used CCleaner to clean up everything including registry.

And now i'm really getting out of options. I will post all the info on my hardware and hopefully you guys can help me.

Note: I can play LoL perfectly as well as Street Fighter IV (for example) Modern Warfare, etc without any crash. But Skyrim crashes after 10-15m, and it also crashes in Dota 2.

I really hope you can help me i'm getting desperate here!

Thank you!

Hello, some weeks ago I started to notice how I seem to be getting weird textures when playing games. I've only played World of Warcraft and Age of Conan but the problem is pretty much the same:

I'm experiencing that all of a sudden (Might be 10 minutes after playing, hours etc) the textures becomes all weird. In WoW for example, all stuff beneath objects become green with some weird pattern. This can be fixed by simply quitting the game but usually I restart the PC because after this "issue", alt-tabbing goes very slow. It takes like 10 seconds for the game to come to the screen again.

Does this sound like a GPU problem or something else, like RAM related? I posted this here because I thought it might be GPU but I don't know very much so I'm sorry if this is "off-topic"

My computer:
Windows XP
Athlon 64 Dual core 4600+
2GB ram, if I remember correctly, it was 533 mhz (I can't remember if it was 2x1gb or just one stick though)
The GPU and PSU is the only thing I've replaced, this was almost a year ago.
The gpu is 8800GT and the PSU is at 550W
I have no idea about my motherboard though, I don't know how to check that.

Some more information: I've tried removing most of the dust in my PC (although the processors part is still quite dusty but I can't remove that with just air) and I'm using the latest DX9 and latest nVidia drivers. I'm most likely virus free, at least the scanners h... Read more

Usually someone would ask you if you have the lastest drivers, but you do. Next someone would think you have a faulty 12v rail. You may not be getting enough power the the video card. Just as important as how many watts it is, who makes the psu is important as well,

Hello,Your system is terribly infected. Problem with these infections nowadays is, it causes a lot of damage. Even if we clean the malware off your system, I can't guarantee that your system will be clean afterwards, because these infections/bundles leave a lot of leftovers behind that most scanners won't even recognise and logs won't show. Also, I can't promise you we can repair all the damage it caused... Even after cleaning the malware, you can still get errors afterwards because of the damage. Solving these is not always possible since it will be searching for a needle in a haystack to find the right cause and solution. So, we can try to clean this up and do what we can, but keep in mind that we can't solve ALL problems this malware already caused. In light of this it would be wise for you to back up any files and folders that you don't want to lose before we start. Reason I am telling this is because when a system is so terribly infected and we try to clean this up manually, the damage that is already present may interfere with our removal attempts. Perform next instructions in the right order..I see you have the NeoPets toolbar installed. This Toolbar has a questionable reputation, so that's why I recommend you uninstall it.Then, * Download Brute Force Uninstaller.Unzip it to a folder of it?s own (c:\BFU).Read here how to unzip/extract properly:http://metallica.geekstogo.com/xpcompressedexplanation.htmlStart the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exeNext to... I'm currently using the new alienware 15 with gtx 1070. When I'm playing dota 2 or GTA V, the gpu load is never maxed at 99% which resulted in low FPS. However, other games such as Bioshock infinite could reach 99% of gpu load. So, is this the games' problem or any driver issues?

A few days ago I noticed that my Windows Start and Exit Windows sounds weren't playing at all. They were playing before, so I have no idea why they would suddenly stop working. I also noticed some other strange occurrences, including Windows booting unusually fast (i figured this might be why the sound wouldn't play, ie. it didn't have time to, but now I'm not so sure), shutting down unusually slow, icons that are supposed to be in the taskbar aren't, and when the desktop first appears after startup, the right-click menu appears, even though I didn't summon it. I looked in the sounds section of the Control Panel to make sure all the paths were correct, and they were. They even played when I pressed the play button to preview them. Also, I noticed that the maximize sound doesn't play either. Every other System Sound I can think of plays fine, though. When I double-checked the Control Panel under sounds again this afternoon, I got curious and decided to change the startup sound to see if it would work then. upon pressing 'browse', however, I noticed that the directory reset to C:\WINDOWS\Media. This should not have happened, as I have been using a custom sound scheme. I still haven't tried to see if other startup sounds would work, but i will tonight, because right now I don't really feel like rebooting again. If anyone has any suggestions, i'd be glad to hear them!

Ok so the problem is as follows. Sometimes when I play sounds on computer (can be msn,video/audio, software, youtube) the computer slowly creeps towards a freeze.

Sometimes the sound starts crackling and sometimes the sound keeps playing uninterrupted (say I have a song playing, it might just play normally while everything else freezes or it might start stuttering/crackling).

During these freezes HD is usually idle/doing whatever it was doing before this happened. The mouse pointer moves around the screen as if nothing has happened. CPU is usually at 100%. There is not 1 specific program that hogs all CPU power but svchost.exe's instance dcomlaunch and its service PlugPlay (Plug and play) tops the CPU chart every single time. Usually audiodg.exe is somewhere at the top too.

If I keep booting and trying sounds until it doesnt freeze the computer will not freeze until I hibernate/shut down the computer. These unaffected boots happen totally random.

I have tried updating sound drivers (my laptop has the AC'97) but that seems to do no good. Also I have uninstalled my antivir as I thought it might have something to do with it but it seems like it didnt.

I have disabled enhancements for my playback device and that didnt help the problem at all.

If you have an idea what could be causing this please speak up!

E: The laptop is a Sony sz61xn/c
Did some quick google and the soundchip might be a SigmaTel STAC9872AK

Hello! I've recently (and for the first time) built a gaming computer. For some reason, however, when playing recent and hardware-intensive games like Dead Island Riptide and Witcher 2, I get through about 5 minutes of gameplay before I start hearing a strange buzzing/stuttering noise through my earphones - accompanied by the screen freezing, making it hard to alt-tab or bring up the task manager. If I leave it in this state for too long, then the computer will bluescreen and restart, with some error along the lines of DRIVER_OVERRUN_STACK_BUFFER.

It's very strange, especially since I do not get this error on other games like Mount & Blade: Warband and even Red Orchestra 2 is fine (which is one that I think would cause problems, being quite hardware intensive itself).

Does anybody know what this error from the BSOD means, and perhaps how I may fix this error? One other thing it may be is that when swapping my GPU, i dropped it in quite a cringe-worthy fashion (if you can imagine) - so it might be this.

I'll post my specs here if this helps:

CPU: Intel i7 4770
Mobo: Gigabyte z87-D3HP
PSU: Corsair hx750
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16gb (2x8)
GPU: GTX 660 Ti

For those of you out there thinking of posting "google is your friend!111one LELELE" - I have googled the problem! So my pc (running on windows XP) recently had this new problem where the screen will suddenly go all weird and have a like checkerboard pattern across the screen, and i can't move the mouse, so i have to manually reboot the pc
however this usually does not solve the question because the boot up screen will have random patterns running across it too
I first thought this was due to my graphics card over heating, however the last time it did that, my screen would go blank instead

I've never had this problem before, and my pc a couple years old, and my dad insists there's no problem with the pc -.- I got 2 fans and a desk fan to cool the pc down when this happens how ever that usually doesn't solve the problem

I've looked around the internet, and the only source of this problem are either:
the heat-conductive paste on the CPU has gotten pourous, leading to areas where heat builds up
Loose pins on the connector that connects the motherboard to the power source
Poor graphics card

The first 2 were solutions for this problem on a laptop, so im not sure if they're true
can anyone confirm what this problem is and offer a solution please?

A:Pc freezes with weird patterns

It does sound like a problematic video card. Video cards can fail, they generate good amounts of heat. It may be time for a new card.

Is there a fan on the video card? Is it working?

Lately, while browsing, the computer start to freeze in this way:
First the browser (any browser) gets stuck loading pages but it is responsive (I can change tabs, scroll, select text etc)

The taskbar stops working at all and the mouse cursor changes to spinning circle when I hover on it.

The desktop screen seems to work at first, but it freezes too with the spinning circle if I open anything or right click.

CTRL ALT DEL, ALT TAB and start screen shortcuts won't work.

I have to reset because I can't reach shutdown or reboot options. Then the computer returns to normal.
Checked hard disk, and sfc /scannow without any errors. No errors in Event viewer.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi all, I haven't used this site in a while and I forgot my old username, so I now have this one! On to the problem though...
I am not computer illiterate, I know how to fix a computer and I do so quite frequently (especially virus removal, which I excel at). The problem is that my computer will completely freeze for about 5 seconds every 20-30 seconds for no apparant reasons, even when doing nothing (all programs closed sitting on desktop with nothing running). Now the problem doesn't crop up right away when I start my computer, from what I've noticed it USUALLY starts when I am using firefox, and will not stop even if I close firefox (also check to make sure in processes that it and it's plugins have stopped). It is fixed if i restart my computer, at which point it will work for a while (even when runnign firefox) but will all of a sudden start the freezing after hours of being fine (once again starting it's vicous freeze cycles). I've run virus scans, malware, CCleaner, checked resource monitor while it's freezing, checked for spikes in processes when it triggers, and much more to no avail. Now if I was to take a wild guess I would have to say it was one of the plugins in firefox, but it is weird that it would continue after it's ended (or that it would do it after working for many hours already). Now I just recently noticed that when the cycles start, If i start doing new things like opening new tabs on firefox, rapidly moving the mouse, starting new programs or an... Read more

Ok, here's the scoop, My computer was bought about in 2002, I recently added a stick of 512MB Ram (Had a 256 in there already) Making it 768MB RAM. I like to listen to music so Windows Media Player is open 75% of the time I'm on my computer. It occured about a couple months ago: My mouse freezes for about half a second every 1.5-2 seconds. I don't know why it does this, I mean it doesn't hurt much but it's pretty annoying... If I slowly drag my mouse across the mouse pad... My cursor on the monitor seems like it "sticks" sometimes to the screen . Here's another thing that happened at the same time that never used to happen before: Everytime I open up a program (Say MSN or Firefox or MS Excel or anything really) my music starts to bug up...like as if IT freezes aswell, and that lasts for about 5 seconds, (or depending on how big the program is) and resumes to it's normal state. I know it doesn't sound like much, but when you got your music Full Blast and your working out and all of a sudden a friend messages you on MSN then your music just locks up with a continuous loud sound isn't very pleasent. Here are my computer specs, don't know if it would help any but whatever. Btw, It Never Did This To Me Before I Added ANY hardware... And also I DID however add Norton antivirus 2004, but even when I take live protect off it still does it.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Several months ago I got a WD My Book external hard drive. I immediately noticed problems on computer bootup such as being asked to select boot drive. I need to have the drive turned off in order to boot properly.

Then all of a sudden my system wouldn't boot up at all. After calling my box maker (Velocity Micro-I have to give them a shout out), they helped me see that a BIOS setting got switched from IDE to RAID somehow. For some reason I suspected it had to do with the external HD.

Yesterday I was doing a large backup to the drive and I started to get write error messages. I stopped the backup but the drive wouldn't stop spinning. Then the same thing happened as before (BIOS got switched to RAID setting). I forgot how to fix that so Velocity helped with that.

Today I plug the drive into my USB port and my computer immediately shut down. Is this the HD? The USB port? What is going on??

A:External hard drive playing some very weird games

Does any other USB device shut the machine down? If yes, the problem is most likely in the USB port.

If no, then the problem most likely is the USB adapter in the housing, or the controller board on the drive is shorted.
