I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Could you go into task manager, performance and post a screen shot of memory? You only have 1 memory slot It should be 8 GB.Also download CPU-z.http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html Post a screen shot of the SPD tab and Memory tab.

Hey guys, I have a Lenovo Ideapad IdeaPad 100 14ibd - win10 and basically im planning on formatting my laptop to get rid of all the stuff/unknown files that are terribly slowing down my ram. But im still new to this process so im wondering if using Lenovo's Onekey recovery is a good thing but then i saw the Reset this PC feature of windows is another thing. My question is, what would be the more recommended thing i should do to get my laptop to its original state just like the new windows 10, or are there any difference within those  two?PS: I got my back up files all set from this laptop to my external hd already Thank you!

Hi

I got a 2nd hand Lenovo Ideapad 100S. It came with Win10 installed but had someone elses profile and data.
(I am not sure if it originally had Win8.1 when it was shipped, there is no rollback option anymore)

My preference is to wipe the current installation completely by downloading Win10 and installing a clean copy off USB.

I also usually prefer to delete all partitions, including recovery because future reinstallations can be done from scratch via USB. (I don't need the option of reinstalling from recovery partitions , the extra space is more important)

I see a warning in the user guide however .....
"Do not delete or modify the Recovery Partition on a WIMBoot-enabled computer. If the Recovery Partition is deleted or modified, you may not be able to restore Windows to the factory status. For computer models on which WIMBoot is enabled, deleting the Recovery Partition may cause Windows to fail to start. How can I determine whether the Windows running on my computer is WIMBoot enabled? WIMBoot technology is normally enabled on copies of Windows 10 Update running on SSD (or eMMC) -only computer models."

What is the best way to do this?

Install a clean copy and remove the partition by booting off a USB, or should I not do this?
Via Settings: settings > Recovery > Reset this PC > Remove everything, or
settings > Recovery > advanced startup > Reinstall from USB

A:Ideapad 100s - Win10 clean installation on ideapad...

 Hi larrens ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It's a good thing you posted first before proceeding with any clean installation.
Not sure what the Machine Number is to verify the details and specifications of your system.

But if you have a pc with a Windows Image Boot (or WIMBoot) you may not want to choose a clean installation.
This new deployment of installation is compressing part of a big OS file so that you can have an operating system that can only take small spaces intended for small storages (SSD).

Best option to wipe out previous owners profile is a have a fresh out of the box image is using the Puch button Factory reset (Novo key similar to Item 7 page 1). Simply shutdown the system and use the button to turn on, System Recovery option would provide One key recovery from initial backup to do it.

WIM boot are usually created thru OEM depot authorized by Microsoft . DIY for WIMboot maybe a bit complicated.

Hope this answered your query.

Hi,
I have Lenovo Ideapad 300-15ISK type/model 80Q700DRSC.
I want to update BIOS, so I downloaded D5CN47WW. In text file it is written that this is BIOS for my computer.
Everything seems fine but when I execute BIOS exe file it says that this is BIOS for Lenovo Paris 300 notebook!
What Paris now? I tried to google but only can find Paris in France.
I am user of Lenovo notebooks for many years (from IBM ThinkPads to this days) but when txt Readme file said
this is update for your computer, it was! This is confusing for me so I cancelled update.
Can anybody explain this mistery?
Thanks in advance

Hi all, I have a friend who has purchased a Lenovo Ideapad but it hasn't an ODD. It has space for one though. I've looked up the Service Manaul and it states 9mm options. Will a 9.5mm dvd drive fit into this slot or does it need to be a 9mm dvd drive? Just the cost of a 9.5mm drive is only £13 odd, where as a 9mm drive is £23.

Hi all,  I have an Ideapad that started to constantly crash to the blue screen, so I decided to reset it to the factory settings with the USB Key I created from the Lenovo support site. When I start the computer from the USB it goes into recovery mode, but it always stalls with what looks to be about 5% of the restore to go.  It will sit there at the same spot for hours and make no progress.  See photo below. Any ideas? Thanks! MW

is it possible to run this laptop without the battery pack? my last laptop  had a removable battery but this model appears to be fixed? there are screw fixings but im not sure if these will detach anything, would welcome any information on this.when the battery is fully charged can the adapter remain plugged in? or should i remove it? i was wondering if there is a cut out for when full charge is reached or it just keeps charging as i use it, this is why removable battery packs were standard a few years ago and the laptop could run off the mains with the charger plugged in, i would rather do this than eventually have to replace a worn battery later on at more cost etc, thanks for your help in advance

Hi, I have been trying to install a fresh version of windows 7 64 bit on my laptop, but really getting nowhere. I copied the ISO on a USB flash drive using rufus: NTFS file system. My Setup configuration:USB Legacy - Enabled Boot Mode - Legacy SupportBoot Priority - Legacy FirstUSB Boot - Enabled On the Legacy options slightly lower down I see two option, SATA HDD and SATA ODD. I see nowhere to select USB drive as the boot option. When I enter boot menu my options are as follows: SATA HDD, SATA ODD, Windows boot manager with my SATA HDD name. I dont see a USB option to boot from? "Secure Boot" is an option mentioned in some forum posts, but I cannot find this option in my setup. Another thing I read was disabling USB from the boot exclusion list. This is another option I cannot find at all. The guide from lenovo site here https://support.lenovo.com/za/en/solutions/ht500207 shows a different BIOS menu that I see on my laptop. I just need a simple fix, why is this so complicated

You didn't need to set the boot mode to Legacy Support, you should install it without legacy support, but install on the UEFI, so next time turn the legacy support OFF, and install the Windows on the UEFI. If you turn legacy off, it automatically should be UEFI

bought a new Lenovo Ideapad 520, worst machine ever.  the hard drive is so noisy and clunky with random whirring, sounds.  the fan starts up randomly and also so loun it sounds like a race car taking off. all replies seem to report the same problems.  having the fan replaced does not fix it.  worst laptop i've ever owned.  Lenovo support is also appauling.  They sold me a VGA USB-C adapter for my older style monitor - it didn't work.  5 phone calls later, they told me it wouldn't work on my laptop!  actually they couldn't agree, one person would say it should work, the next it would't work, and then back to the beginning again.  they then argued amongst themselves about a HDMI-VGA cable, couldn't agree if it would work.  they promised to call me back 3 times, and send me a confirmation email - NEVER did.  I called again and EXPLODED told them what a joke their service and support is and asked for a refund as they had a sold me a cable that wouldn't work. they again told me they would call me back to confirm the refund, BUT NEVER DIDI CALLED AGAIN, THEY FED ME THE SAME LIES AGAIN, NEVER CALLED BACK. Worst decision i ever made was buying the noisy brick of a machine.  Lenovo support centre is unable to provide support for it's own devices and has absolutely no idea what their cables are for, or if/how they work.  They are also incapable of processing a refund for fauly equipment/non working equipmen...
