Touchscreen Keyboard Issues

Q: Touchscreen Keyboard Issues

When attempting to access the touchscreen keyboard, it will flash at the bottom of the screen for a second, then disappears again. Please tell me it is some kind of operator error and not a tech malfunction with my brand new Flex 4. And for the record, attempting to get a Lenovo representative to help out is something of a joke. Yo, Lenovo...might wanna up your game in that area. Now, back to my dysfunctional touchscreen keyboard... HELP!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've had my Yoga 900 for just a little while (got it the day that showed up in stores). I love it, save for one thing. One time, it got into this mode where touches would randomly appear on the screen (the little dot you get when you do a touch). At the same time, random keys seemed like they were being pressed. And you'd press the keys on the keyboard but they'd give you a totally different keystroke than they were supposed to. This persisted through two whole reboots. But it wouldn't happen 100% of the time. It'd be fine for a few minutes, then start doing it again. I managed to get a BIOS update in and a reboot, and the problem seemed to go away. But then in the last day or two, it has come back, albeit much much less horrifically. They'll be a stray touch on the screen with my hands nowhere near it (I'm almost always in laptop mode). Or something weird will happen like my browser will open a new tab that there's no good reason for. All of these might be phantom touches, but some could be phantom keys as well. Anyone else run into this? It seems like it's probably the hardware, though I can't rule out software.

Good day and welcome to the community.

Sorry you're having difficulty.
I've not seen this reported previously for the Yoga 900, but a driver update for the Yoga 3 14 (I believe) fixed a similar issue. So, if you would, please confirm which video driver version you have, and compare it to what's listed in the driver listing: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-900-13isk

I have a problem with my Dell XPS 15. Anytime it wakes up from sleep mode, the keyboard and touch screen features do not work, leaving me with nothing to do but reboot the system in order to get them working again. This is extremely annoying and a fix for the issue would be greatly appreciated. I am running Windows 10 if that helps address the issue easier. Thanks in advance for your help, this is driving me absolutely crazy.

Main issue im having is the keyboard is acting very bizzare. First keypress does not register when I start typing or after pressing the spacebar. shift keys and backspace are intermittent. for example, on this sentence i had to press the "f" key twice as well as press every letter twice after each press of the spacebar. Reinstalled drivers, system restore, malware scans all to no avail. i'd guess it's a hardware issue.now the touchscreen:does not work 99% of the time but randomly appears to. When it's not working windows tells me no touch is available for this display. Seems like a poor connection to me as well as I can't seem to find touch screen drivers. anyone have experience with this?

Hello, I bought an Edge 2 1580 last month. All of a sudden the items in the subject stopped working and the fan runs full blast.  I think it happened at the same time as a windows 10 update so I tried a roll back but that didn't fix anything. Any chance this is fixable? I see many threads about the keyboard and touchpad going out on other models.

I just had the same problem with my Flex 3 1580.  It is at Lenovo being repaired as of yesterday.   My computer was fine and the next day booted up and fan runs full speed , touchpad didn't work, wifi didnt work, and the keyboard would only output "6" no matter what key i pressed (only 4 keys produced other output such as "s" or "w").  The onscreen keyboard worked though.  What is the status with yours?

Hi all,
I have a dell XPS2720 and so here is what happened.
I installed PS Now app in my PC and i wanted to get my wireless controller to work so I downloaded and installed SCP driver installer. I ran it but then the computer stopped responding so I decided to do a hard reset.  I held the power button to restart then once the computer and windows started, i am unable to do anything anymore since I am stuck in the home screen.  This is the screen wherein when you press any key or click the mouse, the system prompts you to log in your password to unlock the screen.
My mouse, keyboard and touchscreen are all not responsive.  To isolate the issue, i tried my unifying receiver on another PC and it is working.  I am thinking my drivers perhaps got messed up.
Can you help me?  What can i do given that i can't even log back in to the system.

Yesterday, after restarting my PC to finish updates from Windows, and installations from Autodesk and MATLab, my keyboard, touch pad and wireless mouse stopped working. After checking the drivers, I found that the keyboard and mouse drivers had a code 32. So I did a system restore before all the updates. Did nothing for the drivers.I tried uninstalling, updating the drivers; didn't work. Then I used CCleaner to clean up registry errors. No changes.Next, I went into the registry and deleted the UpperFilter values for the keyboard and mouse drivers. Code 32 was gone for HID keyboard driver and the HID mouse driver. But now the ps/2 keyboard driver and the synaptics smbus driver now had a code 10.After removing and reconnecting my wireless mouse's usb, I noticed that fixed drivers come and go with it, so I tried to find the drivers for the mouse to try a manual reinstall for my mouse. Couldn't find them, (Logitech's website was of no help). So I got Driver Booster to help me. The program said my PC had a lot of outdated drivers, so I decided to let the program update them all in hopes it would fix both the code 10 and let my mouse work again. And that's how the touchscreen stopped responding. Driver Booster had paused while downloading the driver for the Bluetooth as Windows Defenders stopped it. When I tried to allow the download, I notice my only method of interacting with my PC had failed.I force shut down the PC in hopes that the problem would be fixed. Didn't work.So now, I can... UPDATE:Okay, I found that there was a way to force the PC into recovery mode without any buttons.I took out the battery, forced a shut down, and unplugged the power cord when I turned it on. After replugging the power and powering up, it went into recovery.Touchscreen and keyboard worked in recovery mode, was too excited to test TouchPad and mice.Anyways, I'm resetting the PC now. Hopefully this fixes it all.I'm somewhat leary of doing updates, however. Reading around online, some had this issue for their keyboards and mice due to Windows 10 hybrid shutdown and fast startup. I'm going to try to turn that off, update everything, and hope that fixes everything. Will update status later.Hope anyone having similar issues find this useful.

Hi, so I have a Dell Inspiron i3147 (11.6 inch) 2-in-1 running windows 10. For the past few months, the touch screen freaks out at random times. In the upper left corner, it looks as if someone is tapping the screen repeatedly, and with several fingers, making the entire computer unusable, since the cursor is constantly getting redirected to the corner. Usually, when I restart the computer, the issue goes away, however, lately (past week or so), I have to restart four or five times before it finally works.Around the same time, it started running unbearably slow. Now, I'm not sure if this is an infection issue, or a hardware issue, so please feel free to correct me if it seems this topic is in the wrong thread. Thanks in advance!

A:2-in-1 Laptop Touchscreen Issues

This can be as bad as a failing board or as easy as a bit of oil/grease in the wrong spot - but very unlikely it is an infection.  Do a thorough cleaning with an alcohol pad designed for monitors first to get any grime that may have built up -- then consider taking it to a repair shop for a (hopefully) free diagnostic if the machine is not under warranty.

I bought a Lenovo Yoga 13 almost a year ago and recently I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and I've been having touchscreen issues ever since. Everytime I restart or wake make computer back up from sleep/hibernation the screen has this white square on the screen, it looks like this: The mouse is stuck here, but I found some weird trick to get the mouse unstuck and make the box go away. I just touch the screen with my finger where the box is and move it back and forth a few times and the mouse becomes unstuck. However, it leaves 2 white circles on the screen that stays there forever. Here is a picture of those circles. This makes windows think I am touching the screen when I'm really not and therefore I can't click things anymore because if I actually touch the screen then it thinks it's a 2-finger touch which turns into a zoom.  I've looked around and seen that some Lenovo Twist user has this problem here and he/she seemed to fix it with touchscreen firmware updates. However, I cannot seem to find any such fixes for the Yoga 13 since there is no touchscreen firmware update on the drivers site. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix the problem? FYI, I'm not sure if you'll need it but here are my comp specs:

Ok people, this is gonna probably be a hard one.

At work, we are trying to set up 11 touch screen monitors for use with our graphical applicaton. We are having some problems as the drivers provided with the monitors (2 types) only supprt 4 or (I believe) 6 screens, not 11. We have been using a custom made driver set (made for us by a company in the UK) which has given us some success, but there are still problems, and they don't seem to be able to fix it.

The problems we have are:

1. Pointer swaying on some screens, 2 -5 centimeters from point of touch. This we 'think' can be removed with a filter that is provided in the native drivers, but not in our custom set.

2. Sometimes the screen doesnt let go of the pointer and the pointer is stuck on that single screen.

As you can imagine, we have spent many hours trying to get this to work, and it is frustrating, as none of us know anything about the drivers for this stuff, and the companies concerned are not too helpful (surprise surprise).

The drivers we are using are UPDD 3.8.66.0A

Monitors/touchscreen:
2 x 24" Monitors Samsung 243T Max Res 1920X1200
2 X - Elo, Smartset 2500 IntelliTouch, USB

11 x 20" Monitors NEC LCD2080UX+ Max Res 1600X1200
9 X 3M Touch Systems, EXII, USB

The drivers which came with the 3M Touch screens are TW5.64SR5A.

3M touch screens has a limit of 4 touch screens per PC (we need to use one PC)
Elo on the other hand support a higher number.

Hi All Bit of an issue - not major but anoying.  Two thirds of the screen will not work with touch.  Right hand side seems to work whilst the two thirds working from the left side will not work.  Occasionly, I can get the task bar at the bottom to work by touch - the windows button for instance but noting after.  I have activated tablet mode but no difference - I did try to see if a calibration might help but as it does not work via touch, I'm not able to perform the setup other than from the right hand side and of course thes test starts on the left!  Using the BT mouse and keyboard all works perfectly. Any ideas please? Many thanks Steve

I'm working on a Duo 1090 that has a touchscreen that doesn't work. I've looked in the control panel and there aren't any settings in there for pen and touch, or tablet. The unit is running Windows 7 Home Premium.  I recently replaced the system board, palmrest and fan on the unit.  I did notice that one of the hall-sensors has a bad ribbon cable. I wouldn't think that would cause issues with the settings bring available in the control panel. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

A:Satellite U920T - when I slide out the keyboard touchscreen no longer works

> Tablet PC setting in the control panel also disappear once the keyboard ist out..
I assume this should be OK since the tablet PC settings should be available only if the notebook is used in ?tablet mode?

The point is that this notebook can be used in three different modes.
1) tablet mode -> the keyboard and touchpad are pulled in and only touchscreen can be used
2) laptop mode -> the keyboard and touchpad are pulled out
3) photography mode -> keyboard is pulled in but touchpad is pulled out and can be used as well as the touchscreen.

I?m not quite sure if the ?orientation lock button? (on the left side) would affect the touchscreen but fact is that using this button the automatic rotation of the screen orientation can be enabled or disabled.
If you are operating the computer in laptop or in photography mode, the screen orientation will always be in Landscape mode.

Please check also if the touch display has been calibrated properly
Go to control panel (win key + x control panel) -> Tablet PC settings

Here you will find the first tab called ?Display?
Click on ?Setup? button to start the setup where you could identify the touchscreen
In bottom area called ?display options? you could calibrate the touch display.

Hello!  Back on 07/14/2016 I posted in the HP Forum about a different HP Envy laptop, and between Danny (moderator) and Jeff, they were able to help me get connected to the people who facilitated the return shipping, repair.  It's working great!

I bought a second HP Envy in July 2016, online from Best Buy.  It was intended as a backup for the first one that got repaired.  I'm a DJ so I need to make sure I have a backup  if the first one fails.  I loaded it with the music and lyrics pretty much right after it arrived, and put it away.  Just this past week I purchased the Microsoft Office 365 Suite, and so I went to put it on to this laptop.  That's when I discovered that there are a number of significant problems with it:

It won't even play the music files (?)
It runs VERY slowly - booting up, navigating the internet, anything you do takes a long time
I tried putting Microsoft Office 365 on it (purchased the suite at Best Buy) and it won't allow me to complete the final step
On one of the re-boots I tried, suddenly the entire desktop changed, and a new wallpaper appeared with the 'ASUS' logo in the bottom right.  As soon as I saw that, I knew something was seriously wrong - there is no way that should happen!
The last reboot I tried, I couldn't even connect to the internet.

I would like to have this laptop replaced with a new one - preferably the same kind, an HP ... Read more

I just received my Inspiron 7559 Laptop in the mail yesterday, and it is the 4K Touchscreen model. However, upon setting everything up and attempting to use the touch screen, it's not working. I contacted a Dell support agent whom I gave remote access to try and fix the issue, however he downloaded drivers I already had and was unable to correct the issue as well. Upon running diagnostics, we were stumped to find that everything came back clear and there was apparently no issues with the hardware in ePSA.
Looking under the Device Manager, there is nothing that says touch screen under Human Interface Devices or Universal Serial Bus controllers. I don't know if I am just missing a driver, or if my screen just malfunctioned. I would just really appreciate help on the matter as this is the second laptop I've gotten in a span of two weeks that has an issue that may require sending it back, and I really do not want to have to go through that again.
Thanks.

So I recently bought a refurbished Yoga 3 Pro. I don't have any real warranty and I would rather not return it just for the touchscreen, as I don't plan to use it often. However, I'd like to try to fix it if I can. I powered on the laptop and opened it to the pre-installed Windows 8.1. I went through the setup, and everything worked great except for the touchscreen, which does not respond at all and acts like a normal, non-touch display. I suspected it to be a driver issue, but as I already intended to use Ubuntu on this machine and I often have to reinstall drivers for Linux anyway, I decided to ignore it for the time being. Now that I have Ubuntu installed, I'm back to trying to figure out the touchscreen issue. I haven't been able to find where the touchscreen output is located, but I'd like to try installing the drivers and see if I can get it working anyway. If anyone has better advice, please let me know. Otherwise, I need to know: does the touchscreen interface through a serial port, and if so is there a specific one it defaults to? Thanks!

I've been having issues with my laptop ever since purchasing in January 2015. I've just about dealt with them but I've had enough now. My touch screen hasn't worked for a while but was hoping it would just need an update and be ok again. Spent a full day doing various updates etc. and nothing has worked. I have read it could have something to do with Windows 10 changing the touchscreen capabilities. However, on Device Manager> Human Interface Devices there is no "HID-compliant touchscreen" option so I am unable to even enable or uninstall. I've followed every possible solution HP's "customer support" page has offered. I've read a lot of people saying "make sure your device is compatible" - it definitely is. It is branded as a touch screen laptop and I used the screen fine for the first 8 months or so. My last resort is to try a full restore to factory settings but thought I'd see if anyone had any advice first.  In April I had to have the charging port replaced when it one day decided it would stop charging. I am also having issues with battery life (e.g. it can be plugged in for up to two hours and then die within 20-30 minutes.  I feel like there is nothing I haven't tried so I though it would be easiest to contact someone directly, however am unable to find a number or email anywhere. The closest I have got is through twitter but I can't begin to describe my issues in 40 characters. Someone please help

Okay, so this just started happening tonight, but my trackpad and touchscreen on my XPS 15 9560 aren't working like they used to. I've had this laptop for about one and a half months and this is only happening now.
Whenever I use my trackpad, be it using one finger to navigate Chrome or to select files, the trackpad randomly registers my one finger navigation as two finger scrolling and scrolls down the page. If I'm actually scrolling with two fingers on my laptop, sometimes the trackpad will register this as two finger zooming and will resize the webpage. Sometimes it will even register my two finger use as a three finger gesture and minimize my open windows. I don't know why this has started happening, and why only now, but it has made my trackpad unusable and I can't seem to do basic navigations anymore.
My touchscreen is also starting to konk out on me. It just plain stops working. I can touch it once, and it will register, but then any more touches won't register. I can't scroll with the touchscreen and it becomes unresponsive.
This is my only laptop and the laptop I will be using for the next four years. I'd really appreciate help in fixing these issues. Thanks.

Hi massimoabad,
Thanks for posting.
Since your system is so new, you should take advantage of the warranty you paid for.  Please run the system diagnostics by pressing F12 at startup, make notes of any errors, and contact Dell Tech Support: You can contact them at 1-800-624-9896 or 1-800-288-4410, or you can initiate a chat session at: http://dell.to/2v4snVm

So I've had this happen countless times. The touchscreen stops working. The laptop is in perfect conditions. The screen, not even a scratch. I format the laptop, it still doesn' work. So, I've always fixed it by installing the AUO Touchscreen Firmware/ sp63116.exe from:http://support.hp.com/mx-es/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-14-f000-sleekbook/5375393/model/5403360#... My problem atm is that this time, that process isn't working. The installer opens, installs the thing, then the program opens and immediately closes. This prompts windows to ask me if the driver installed correctly or that if it should attempt to install under a compatibility mode. No matter which I choose, it still does the same thing. It won't stay open for more than 1 second.  I've restored my laptop to factory presets a couple times already and the touchscreen isn't working yet because the driver/program/wizard thingy refuses to stay open after it is done installing. Can anybody help me? Perhaps share a different version of the installer? Thank you.

SOme info about the laptop. Product Name: Sleekbook HP Pavilion 14-f004lOperating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit) I've had this problem a couple times already. The touchscreen stops working sporadically and the only way to make it work again is installing the  AUO Touchscreen Firmware/ sp63116.exe driver from this site. however this last time I've run into quite the weird problem. The driver installer CLOSES INMEDIATELY BEFORE I CAN DO ANYTHING A couple months ago I posted this:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/AUO-Touchscreen-Firmware-installer-doe... Since then due to time constrains and schoolwork, I did not attempt to restore the BIOS until today.Today I restored the BIOS, followed all procedures they gave me, and the installer for the Touchscreen firmware does the following: -Runs-Asks for permission-Install it-Finishes installing-Runs the program's window-Inmediately closes, I can't even click on anything because it flashes for a second and disappears. I've already restored the laptop to factory presets. The installer DOES THE SAME THINGRestored the BIOS. The installer DOES THE SAME THING So please, do not tell me to restore the laptop. I've done it already. Doesn't work. Same thing for the BIOS. Nothing. Can anyone help me? Thank you
