Preferred Solution: unable to open or save anything from email

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Cannot do anything with email attachments.
When trying to open one - I get nothing, like I never even clicked on it.
When trying to save one - I get a message "The command failed to execute".

Thanks for any help you can give me.
Take it easy on me though, I'm not much good at this computer thing.

Would appreciate any assistance you can give me to get my email going to OPEN immediately and not to SAVE.

Many thanks for your support.

I'm operating in Windows 7 and haven't been able to open or save downloads frm email in yahoo. The location that opens for a save is ne1-attach.ymail.com and wasn't where downloads were saving in the past. I believe when I updated an adobe program, I began to experience the problem. I've tried disabling a few add ons but I'm really not sure how to some of things without really compromising an already time-consuming problem. I cannot do my work efficiently at this point, if I cannot open and view materials needed as part of my day-to-day operation. Please Help!

I'm creating a desktop app in Visual Studio for my company. It will be a fairly simple Inventory Query that is simple to use (one screen) and much more feature rich. I'm new to Visual Studio but I'm figuring out that piece.

What I want to do it set up a schedule run of a report dump from Oracle. Easy to do but when I schedule a report the only way I can get the output without being within Oracle is to have it send to my email. The email I receive has the same subject line except for the report number. It ALWAYS states, "Inventory - Available has completed with status Normal - Request #".

From this point I would click the URL within the body of the email, which is a one time link, and my report would open as html. I can then save it as a txt file on my desktop, import to excel and modify as needed through a macro, which then updates an Access table, which will later be linked to my App created in Visual Studio.

Problem: I need some automation so this can update on it's own every 3 hours and I have no idea how to do so.

When the email comes to my inbox, I would like Outlook to grab it (maybe from a rule that looks at From and the piece of the Subject that's always the same. Then auto open the URL in the body. Save it as a txt file to a specified destination. I'd want to have a file named Current_Inventory_Level.txt that always gets selected during the save and overwritten.

From there I should be able to make the other stuff happen. ... Read more

I am using Windows 7 in a Dell Inspiron and my live mail on my desktop will no longer open. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my battery went dead while the computer was on two days ago, but I've been able to get into the mail since...

First, the problem:

Quote:
Windows Live Mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows Live Mail message store. Windows Live mail was unable to locate the message database. If you've moved the database files to a new location, click OK to rest the database path to that location. Otherwise, click Cancel to proceed, any existing messages found will be available under Orphaned Accounts (0x00000000.2)

If I click ok or cancel, I get:

Quote:
Windows live mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows live message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. (0x8007002)

So far, to attempt to remedy it:
Run a disk check
Restarted three times
Run Repair on the Live stuff
Tried system restore to four days ago
I even removed my anti-virus (temporary of course)
None of the above has any affect.

How can I save my emails without being able to open the mail program itself? As one of the few idiots, I did not back up my emails.
Where are the located? I figure if I can find them, pull them into another folder and the reload the Live stuff, I'll be ok. *hopefully*

Well, I got it. I pulled the email files, backed them up, and imported them with the import wizard. Whew! I thought I had lost everything for good! I had previously asked if anyone had the solution for opening email with .email file ext. This ext. seems to be used only by msn
users. Has anyone run into a way to open these emails?
Thanks, Bob Reynolds

A:unable to open email with .email file ext.

Never heard of an extension .email but if you have it so be it. Who am I but if it is an MSN thing, then have you checked with Microsoft.

If it is MSN mail then outlook or outlook express should by all means open it and if it doesn't then I don't know if I would want to open it. Who sent it to you, do you know them personally?

I know that is a long shot but it is the only one I can think of at the moment other than have you tried typing the ext into the address bar on IE explorer and let MS do a search for it.

I do that a lot and get great results doing a search for MS things.

I have two problems with Word 2003.

First, regardless of any changes made to a document, when I close the application I do not get a prompt asking if I want to save the changes.

Second, I cannot open more than one document at a time. If I have a document open, and I try to open a second document, it flashes the second document on the screen briefly and then closes it, leaving me with my first document open. There are no windows minimized to the taskbar, and there are no documents (other than the first document I opened) listed in the Window menu of Word.

I have installed all updates and service packs (both for Office 2003 and for Windows XP), and I am not using any 3rd party add-ins. I even tried uninstalling all Office related applications and reinstalling. No dice.

This has been going on for quite some time now, and I cannot find ANY information that seems to relate. I am begging for help here, so anything is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok up until a couple of day ago I was able to open the two emails that are in question using IE 6.0, I am however able to open them using Mozilla. I am on a cable hook up with comcast as isp. I have ran are removed all found virus with the following software . Panda platinum 2005, Spybot search and destroy. Adware, Microsoft antispyware, housecall, f-secure.com After all this I still am unable to open the emails, Microsoft doesn't have a clue.

Are there any error messages? If so, please post the error message here.
Are you able to do anything else with the messages? Move to another folder, copy to another folder?

Can you drag the messages onto your Desktop and open them there?

Are these messages text only or HTML?

Not sure what happened. The Visio files were opening just fine a few minutes ago, and now when I try to open them, IE prompts me continuously for "Open, Save, Save as." I tried all three options for the fun of it and IE still prompts every time.
Tried opening them from a remote PC and they open just fine. Can't do anything with them on my PC except view them in Visio itself.
I've tried resetting IE settings. Uninstalling IE 11 and going down to 10. Nothing in event viewer for IE.

Any ideas?

I am using windows 98 with IE and outlook express 5.5. Some of my email attachments started coming in with an icon (too small to read) in a box beside the name of the attachmenton the attach line. I am unable to open these. When I click on them to open, it takes me right back to outlook express. These do not all come from the same sender. I can forward these to others and they receive them with the normal white envelope with the open flap and name of attachment in the attach line and are able to open them. Some of my attachments come in fine and I am able to open those. This just recently started happening and I have no clue as to why. Do you know what this maybe and how to correct it? My email is rocketmail, managed by Yahoo! I have several folders where I store emails I want to keep. I can not get into the "College Admissions" folder where, of course, important info for my college-bound daughter is stored.

I have contacted Yahoo, rebooted and refreshed many times, Yahoo says if they unlock it, I'll lose everything in the folder. Is there no other solution?

I put two e-mails in the file last week - they were in boldface as unread. I tried to open folder to click the emails so they wouldn't appear as unread and that's when I discovered this problem. I couldn't get in.

I added another email to see if that might unlock something but it's stuck in there now, too.
I have about 15 other folders and they all open.
This is the message I get when I try to open this folder:

"There was a problem accessing your mailbox.
We recommend clicking the "Refresh" or "Reload" button on your browser's toolbar. If this doesn't correct the problem, re-login to your account. If the problem persists, click here to send us a report."

Hoping someone can help. Thank you!

A problem that keeps coming back.
I have had this problem about 4 times now and on different PC's.
I install WLMail and use it for a while with on average 4 or 5 accounts in it of which 2 hotmail and one live mail account and some other one(s).

Once again and this time on a laptop with Vista Home Premium running on it I have Windows Live installed and loaded it with this time 5 accounts.
For about 4 months it has worked like a charm and I was always able to open Live Mail and get all my mail come in without any issues.
However after about 3 1/2 months it lost the ability to load my emails from one of my Hotmail accounts and it comes up with an errors indicating the following:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (XXXXX) account. To send and receive messages in your Hotmail account, go to Sign In on the Web, or try again later. To get help from Windows Live Customer Support, go to http://support.live.com and click Windows Live Mail in the list of services.

I'm hoping someone will be able to help.

I have Vista and install all Microsoft updates regularly on my home computer.

However, whenever I receive an email attachment .docx, pptx, & so on I am unable to access the file. It saves as a WinRAR file (zipped, in other words) and when I attempt to unzip it, I just get blank files.

My email is on a university server. When I access attached files from my work computer, they are fine. I only have the problem when I try to access the files from home. As you can imagine, most files these days are .docx, so it is quite frustrating.

Can anyone help me solve this ?

Hi, Excuse my lack of technical terminology here, but since I have had my laptop (with Windows Vista) I have been unable to click on a link to an email address, e.g. if there is an email address within the body of an email or within a website, if I click on to send them an email, an error message comes up
"mailto:_______ (the email address) Application not found"

Also another problem which I would say if related: I am trying to click on a link in a website to add my email address to their mailing address, and it comes up with the error:
"Windows Internet Explorer
Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed"

But apart from this problem I have not had any other problems sending and receiving emails.

I hope this is enough info? Sorry I am new at this.

Thank you.

A:Unable to open up or connect to an email address link

From your error message I will assume you are usingInternet Explorer?.

Installing any version of Office that has Outlook should fix the problem. Or installing Windows Mail from http://download.live.com/ should also fix the problem.

If neither of them work you can always try updating Internet Explorer to the latest version. http://update.microsoft.com/

I emailed myself an essay, and instead of saving the file, i just pressed "open". Now after a couple hours of editing I can't find the file anywhere on my computer. Is this file gone forever, or is there still a chance of finding it?

A:Pressing "open" instead of save on an email attachment

What email service do you use? This is the reason it is wise to save a project every few minutes when you are working on it.... Saves a lot of grief...

Hi! i need you help!.. I am unable to open or save files in the shared drive using Excel 2007 but i can open/save excel 2007 files saved in my local drive

The error message I get when i try to open is "Could not open...." followed by the path and excel name.

This is the error message i get when i try to save in the shared drive:

Microsoft office excel cannot acces the file". There are several possible reasons:

the file name or path does not exist
the file is being used by another program
the workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook

Please help

One of my user is having this problem on her Windows XP PC:

Dell GX260 with Windows XP Professional running 512MB RAM, Office XP, Acrobat 5.0

When opening a Word file & edited in Word XP, the user cannot SAVE or use SAVE AS the file, when try to exit out the file, get prompt to either SAVE, CLOSE, or CANCEL the file, at that point it will still not save the file, the only way to exit the file is to hit CLOSE to exit.

I initially thought this might be a Word Xp problem, so I ran the repair tool in Office XP, that did not fix it.

I then uninstalled Office XP, reinstalled Office XP, but that also did not fix the problem.

I then ran the Office update to download the latest patches from MicroSoft, but that also did not fix the problem.

I then UNINSTALLED Acrobat 5.0 from the PC, that FIXED the problem.

WITHOUT Acrobat 5.0 on her PC, the user was now able to open & edit a Word file, and able to SAVE the edited file, also able use SAVE AS to save the file as a new copy.

I then reinstalled Acrobat 5.0 thinking the previous copy of Acrobat 5.0 on the PC might be corrupted, as soon as Acrobat 5.0 was back on the PC, the same problem with the SAVE feature came back in Word XP.

I then installed the patch update for Acrobat 5.0, that did not fix the problem.

At this point, I am out of clues on how to fix it....The user tried Acrobat 6.0 before on the same PC, but decided to reverse back to Acrobat 5.0 because of format problem with 6.0.......so Acrobat 6.0 is no... Read more

Trying to figure out a global issue with are new  Windows 7 image at work in IE.  We have old PC's that we are replacing and on the PC's we are using an updated Windows 7 image but has the same IE 11 version 11.0.9600.18738CO on both images.
The difference though is that there is no security prompt to open PDF files on the old image.  On the new one we get the prompt to Open, save or save-as and trying to find a way to remove it.  Our guy that built the image did not set the Group
Policy intentionally if there is one for this.  I can't find a way to remove the prompt in GPedit.msc, missing the "Launching applications and unsafe file" is missing but yet i see the option under security settings in IE.  The radio buttons
are grayed out from making changes in that window.

Any thoughts?

Received a few MS Excel files from an outside vendor as e-mail attachment. I am able to save the attachement to My Doc or desktop and then open or open them directly from Outlook 2003 or 2007.

But when I tried to save the doc with or without making changes, the spreadsheet just sits there and saying Saving at the bottom. I waited several miniutes to be saved, but it just sits there. It does not taking any extra resources. On Application event viewer, it just displayes application hang error.

Hi All,

I work on a web application that has Excel and Word documents in it.

At the moment when a user opens these documents in IE9 they get presented with a dialog box asking:

What do you want to do with "filename"?

The user is presented with Open, Save and Save As as the options.

Unlike previous versions of IE there is no check box to tick to remember the user's choice so it comes up every time.

I really need to get rid to this box. Does anyone know how to disable it?

Thanks

Tom

This is a weird problem I've not seen before and I could use some help or someone to point me in the right direction. I searched the forum with no luck.
I'm assuming this is an issue related only to my machine and not an IE7 problem.
:-(

When I click on this link (or one in similar format on the same page), the new window will initially begin to open. Then the new browser instance is redirected to another site....which seems fine & the page switches to the new address, then suddenly the window disappears and the "File Download-Security Warning" box appears and asks if I want to save the file or find a program online to open it with:
Program Name: browserRedirect
Type: Unknown File Type
From: ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net

Clicking on "Find" takes me to the Windows File Association web page where it says that windows does not recognize this MIME type.

Here's the actual link:
//click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=DKrkLM3KmGA&offerid=78941&type=3&subid=0&tmpid=1826&RD_PARM1=http%253A%252F%252Fphobos.apple.com%252FWebObjects%252FMZStore.woa%252Fwa%252FviewAlbum%253Fi%253D27672884%2526id%253D27672964%2526s%253D143441%2526partnerId%253D30
If I need to register a file type, I don't where to start! I scrolled through all the file types in My Computer and honestly, I'm at a loss as to what to do.
Could this be related to some corrupted mime file or something?

A user tries to download a PDF from a government site by selecting a checkbox for the document and hitting Download Document button. The file download box comes up with "Downloading file... Open/Save/Cancel". When she hits Open, the box dismisses and the download progress box appears. Almost immediately, however, the file download box reappears but this time Open is grayed out, forcing the user to save it before it will be downloaded and opened. On any other computer in the office, the file will open right up. I have checked the internet settings and they seem correct. What would cause this to happen just to this one user? Or, what can I do to fix it?

A:Solved: PDF DL: Open/Save window returns with Open grayed out

Upgraded to version 6 and the problem went away. Thanks for everyone's response!!
