Windows 7 - Photoshop incompatible

Q: Windows 7 - Photoshop incompatible

I have a problem with windows 7 and I'll be happy if anyone could help me with it.
In windows XP with my nVidia 9500 GT Graphic Card I could use 3D features in photoshop cs5 with hardware acceleration (I say it because until I moved to Windows Se7en, I never had messages saying I don't have the Hardware 3D accelerator.) But now, Photoshop uses software accelerator. Also I cannot use OpenGL features of photoshop since I have known them, so, although I know this is not relevant to this part of forum, but I'll be grateful if anyone knows if my Graphic Card supports OpenGL and I should just update to new driver.
thanks again.

Preferred Solution: Windows 7 - Photoshop incompatible

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Yes it had OpenGL. I had that card, and FurMark (which uses OpenGL) ran fine.

My Photoshop program worked for a couple of years, then it started freezing up. Today it won't open at all. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but now it won't even install. I have the original disk and it is in excellent condition. Were there possibly updates in XP that are in conflict with this old Photoshop program? I get regular XP updates from Microsoft.

I've recently had some horrible black screen issues which have left Windows very unstable. I'm now trying to reinstall Windows 7 64 bit, but after testing for compatibility it returns a message stating that "You can't upgrade 64-bit Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows"

I'm already running 64-bit and I'm trying to re-install 64-bit, I don't understand the issue?

I'm using the 'upgrade' option to keep my files and settings etc. rather than the 'custom' option of a clean install.

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks :/

So i got windows 8 on my lenovo g580 laptop but it turns out that it is not compatible with a bunch of programs that I would like to use, so I decided to go back to windows 7 like I previously had.
I got the Windows 7 upgrade advisor and it says that my Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Power Controller is not compatible with windows 7 and so I run into an error every time I try to install windows 7, does anybody know of another driver I could get or maybe some other way to solve this problem? I also heard thru other reaches of the internet that some windows 8 computers aren't compatible with windows 7 could that be the problem. Thank you for reading I really appreciate any help.

If nothing else helps, install Windows 7 in virtual with VMware Player. Then you have no driver problems and you can run both systems side by side. Here is a side by side demo - it is only the other way around (8.1 on a 7 host) but that is basically the same.

Hi guys,

I'm running Windows 8 at work, and we have some old software from years ago on CD that we are trying to run.

It tries to install Windows Media Player 6.4 and says it's incompatible (obviously).

Does anyone know of a workaround for this?

The software fires up Firefox to display the content but the videos don't load properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Windows Media Player 6.4 incompatible fix?

Not sure if this is considered as a solution to your problem, but I'll post anyways?

Search for and install an alternate media player.
MPC-HC (https://mpc-hc.org/) This is what I use to play all my videos

Possible perfect solution:
Copy the installation file from the CD to your Desktop -> Right click the installation file -> Properties -> Press Compatibility on top -> Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" -> Select Windows XP (SP 2) -> press Apply -> OK.

Try the file now

The latest version of Real Player still seems to be incompatible with Windows 8.

Every time I use it for any length of time it just breaks. Windows 8 It freezes, no information is to be seen on the page and also note the blue bar at the top of the screen instead of the selected system colour scheme. The downloading of Flash films using Real Player also does not work in W8. To get it working again the programme has to be shut down and reopened. When this happens Real Player also manages to bring down my ethernet connection, meaning a complete re-start of the computer is needed to get internet connectivity back up and running on the PC. Clean re-installs of the latest version of Real Player do not resolve the issue. Hopeless.

This is the only programme I have come across on my system that does not work as it should in Windows 8.

A:Real Player15 incompatible with Windows 8

Realplayer 15 will load and display everything and properly imported my libraries. Just one major problem, when I start to play a video, it will play for about 2 seconds and then the video part just freezes. The audio continues to play. When I use the timeline, it will only display a still image of the video. Of course, it also refuses to play any ,flv files. And Windows 8 does not have a Windows player installed. I downloaded a universal player which works intermittantly. So I use another machine with Windows 7 in which Realplayer works flawlessly. BOB

I bought a jack - usb cable at the music store. There is a built in sound card. I tried connecting it to vista but all operating sound dissappeared and no sound was comming to the computer. So I tried installing windows 7 and the same problem occured. I can clearly see that the driver is installing when I connect it.
So I called the music store, they don't know so much about computers, but they recommended me to only use it on xp. It doesn't say so on the package but I tried on another computer and it actually did work.
For me it would be a lot of trouble to install xp and my computer isn't compatible with virtual pc (the new xp mode). So what I want to know is if there is any way I can use this cable with windows 7? Without all sound dissappearing when I plug it in.

With all this work I've spent on it I may buy a new jack to usb cable that is compatible with all windows os. So if there is nothing else to do then please recommend a new cable (the store should send to europe), these cables can be hard to find.

Thanks again

I have a 4 year old Dell Latitude E6330.  My workplace (Weizmann Institute) preferably purchases Dell and my problem is actually a bit of a surprise to our IT staff.
My computer has worked beautifully until now.  I made the "mistake" of upgrading my computer to Windows 10.  The audio (both speakers and headphones) stopped working.  IT staff (both work and Microsoft) looked into it for me and confirm that my drivers are up-to-date and functioning.  The problem I was told by both IT help-desks is that Dell has not updated their laptop software to be compatible with Windows 10 (at least for the Audio system).  Dell, you went to the trouble to make a computer that lasts longer than your competitors , but don't upgrade your drivers to allow these older computers to be used properly - It is only 4 years.   I am quite disappointed to be frank.
Is there any chance that you good people on this forum can help me?

A:Dell OS incompatible with Windows 10 Audio

The problem isn't with Dell -- it's that IDT got out of the audio chip market, so it never released true Windows 10 drivers.
This isn't a Dell issue - it's an issue with the manufacturer of the audio chip itself.  It's likely possible to get the older drivers working in compatibility mode.

I tried to update my Dell Inspiron 5110 running Windows 7 Home Premium, but the Windows 10 Compatibility Checker showed that there was an incompatibility with the BIOS. I updated to the latest BIOS, reran the checker, and the Compatibility Checker report now shows that all is good to go.

I have "upgraded" to Windows 10 from 8.1 recently and have lost the ability to send mp3 and mp4 files stored on the computer to my smart TV.

All attempts result in an error message on the PC and the smart TV.

Microsoft tell me it is because Toshiba have not released Widows 10 compatible drivers for the LX830 series even though it is only 2.5 years old and came with 8.1 already installed.

A check on Toshiba website shows that the LX830 does not feature on in the lists of machines scheduled for windows 10 compatible drivers release.

Does anyone know if further releases of drivers will follow beyond the ones available so far?

The Toshiba website simply says that if your model is not on the list, it is not compatible with windows 10 - which is a little harsh for a relatively new machine.

A:HP Client Security Manager Incompatible With Windows 10

Hi: This is a peer to peer forum. No one here can answer questions such as yours (any questions directed to HP). I would see if the latest Client Security Manager software will work with W10. Install this and see if it passes muster with the Windows 10 advisor. This version is still valid for W7, so you can try it now. http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=ob_148454_1 This is an even newer version, but it is only good for W8.1. http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=ob_149745_1 It is highly doubtful that HP will be releasing any drivers or software for W10 until after it is officially introduced to the public. That has been their usual method of releasing drivers and software when new operating systems come out.

I'm trying to install a 64bit version of Windows 7 Professional onto a brand new Dell Inspiron 15 that originally had Windows 8.1 on it.

The dell website shows that 64 bit drivers for Windows 7 are available so it has to be possible to install the OS. However when booting from the disc (or even USB) I get a BSOD saying:

"The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS"

I actually let Windows 8 boot completely up, and then downloaded and installed the latest BIOS update for the machine, but it didnt make any difference.

I've tried turning off secure boot, switching the boot type from UEFI to Legacy boot, even tried changing the SATA mode to ATA from AHCI.

If anyone could offer any suggestions they'd be welcomed at this point (unless your going to tell me to return the laptop)

As the topic says... I've read several times in chev65's posts (I don't remember which/where/when) but he said something about routers that are incompatible with Windows 7... Is such router exist? I mean - for those with computer networking knowledge background, a router is effectively an independent device. It can be another computer, or some network appliance all together. What connects a router to Windows 7 is network protocol. As far as I know, there are only several network protocols that are supported by Windows 7, specifically - Ethernet/TCP/IP based protocol. There are some other protocols like Frame Relay, HDLC, FC, and many others - but mainstream users won't even know that those other protocols exists, and many consumer class hardware most of the time only supports either Ethernet and/or Wifi (802.11a/b/g/n) with TCP/IP on top of it...

So, is such router exist? I mean, a router that specifically hate Windows 7 to a level that it won't work if a Windows 7 host connected to it... Has anyone seen/have one?

A:Windows 7 incompatible router: is such thing exists?

According to the Windows 7 compatiblity chart there are many routers that will no longer function with Windows 7 due to changes in the network stack that are no longer supported with firmware updates. Most of the time firmware updates make them work again and those firmware updates are still coming.

And yes I've seen quite a few other types of older routers that just don't seem to work at all or have limited functionality with Windows 7. Especially when it comes to wireless 64 bit machines.

I have been able to find links to obscure and unofficially supported firmware that can make certain supposidly incompatible models compatible with Windows 7 like the D-link DIR-300 series firmware which has already saved a few old D-link routers from the trash bin. Although I believe that D-link has firmware for many of them by now.
Index of /pub/Router/DIR-300/Firmware

I really can't remember the numbers for all the routers that aren't compatible but there are pages of them.

For anyone else who may be experiencing the same problems:

I just discovered an incompatability with our older Nuvico DV2 DVR and Windows XP Pro SP3 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 7. I called Nuvico and confirmed this with a technician. They will upgrade the unit to a compatable version but you have to pay around $100.00 and send it in to the factory. There is no online support (also confirmed by the tech) to upgrade the unit's firmware as this model has been discontinued. Go Nuvico!

We had everything working nicely over the LAN via the CMS client and remotely via the web client before installing MSIE 7 and SP3.

Fortunately I was able to reach a tech during business hours (around 3pm PST) via the customer support number: 866-523-1700. (from http://www.nuvico.com)

A:Reseting Windows Vista Icons due to incompatible AlienGUIse.

Hello Hoopla_Punta, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You can give Method One a try in the Icon Cache - Rebuild tutorial to see if you get lucky. It will not hurt anything.

If it has not been to far back a go, you might try doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before you installed the Theme manager program.

If that does not help, then other than reinstallin Vista, you can use the tutorial below to see if changing the file extenstion type icons manually back to their default icons can fix them.

Does this problem happen with both ethernet and Wi-Fi, or only with one but not the other?

I just ran a troubleshoot on it and apparently, the Qualcomm WLAN service is incompatible. It is burning up my CPU, using at least 30% at all times and making my fan go crazy. It's a YOGA 910 and it is hot. I need to fix this immediately.

This is for Windows 10. I am not sure if this process will work on other operating systems.

Like many of you, I have old games for previous operating systems that I really enjoy play but are "incompatible". I have managed to get them working on Windows 10. One of them, Star Trek: Legacy, was one of the ones I had the most problems with. Another is Tiger Woods 08. The warning message at bottom comes up in my Action Center Flag in the Notifications Bar. Yet the Programs and Features control panel does not list a "Google Pack". My only Google installations are Earth and Chrome.

Does anyone know what Windows 8 is calling a Google Pack? I have never installed one in the previous OS versions of this computer.

[Action Center message] "Google Pack isn't compatible with this version of Windows. This product is no longer supported by the manufacturer. To prevent this problem from recurring, we recommend that you uninstall Google Pack."
