Lenovo G500 CPU Upgrade?

Q: Lenovo G500 CPU Upgrade?

I did google search before putting up on this topic. I am pretty confused by the answers. I have Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3110M CPU. I want to know is it possible to upgrade to Intel Core i5-4570T or equivalent. Is that possible? I saw that the chipset is relevant but I haven't been able to clarify what the chipset is? Can anyone help? Thanks.

Preferred Solution: Lenovo G500 CPU Upgrade?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello there, I own a Lenovo G500, a 2013 model, and I just bought a 2 x 4GB 1600 MHz Kingston HyperX DDR3L memory kit.I pulled the old 4 GB memory out and put the new cards in, but both my Windows 7 and the BIOS see only one of them, so the laptop only uses 4 GB of RAM.I tried putting the cards in one by one, the bottom slot works, but when I only use the top slot, the laptop does not boot. It's likely this is the problem, cause even CPU-Z only sees RAM in one of the slots and displays "Single Channel" running. My question would be: is there a possibility this is a software issue? Is there a way to enable dual channel? If not, could this be a motherboard issue? Thank you. Regards,Darren

A:Upgrade to SSD on Lenovo G500 laptop

Hey Greg,

Since the SSD would be the same standard 2.5" size of the HDD in the laptop, you shouldn't have any issues swapping them.

The metal tray that holds the hard drive will have side screws that will work with the SSD as well. Just make sure that the SATA connection lines up before screwing the SSD on the tray though to avoid having to flip it afterwards. LOL

I?m sorry to hear that your G500 Laptop is not booting to Windows and hanging at Lenovo Logo and the issue persists even after performing Flee-Power step. Hence, I suggest to perform BIOS reset and check if the issue persists. Below are the steps to perform BIOS reset:

To access BIOS menu turn OFF the Laptop and press the NOVO button located beside power button.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now click on ?F10? Key to save the changes that are done in BIOS, the computer will automatically restart.

The first thing I look at if a machine hangs at startup is the USB ports.  Physical damage can create shorts which cause these symptoms.  Check for bent pins or a tongue broken off.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

You can do this to exclude device driver from Windows Updates

Open a run box (Windows key + R)
Type in sysdm.cpl   hit enter
Then click on Advanced System Settings

You should have a windows with Tabs / Go to Hardware TAB and click on Device Installation settings

Now click on "No let me choose what to do"
Never Install driver software from Windows Update then save changes.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Hi keshavshiyal,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You may use your serial number here on the parts look up page to get your OEM motherboard part number.
Using the part number to order or search online from other resellers in your location would help.

You can also call in  1-800-3000-9991 or to check here on where to buy as option.

Here is your hardware manual for reference as it includes FRU list to match the part number with the disassembly guide.

Hi  I bought a Lenovo G500 around a month ago (Windows 8.1, Intel Core i7 2.20 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB Disk, Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter).  I have a problem related to wifi connectivity. When i'm at home, no problems with networking. But when i'm at the college, where network is public and realized with a proxy, my lenovo sees the network, but can't connect to internet because the network is "unidentified" and i have a "limited access". My other PC and my HTC One continue to work fine with the routers and access points placed in the college. I tried everything: reinstall wireless drivers, reset winsocks and ip, disable Windows and Comodo firewalls, disable the energy options of the network adapter... but nothing seems to change, and every time i have the same problem: nothing fixes the issue. If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful! Thanks

A:Lenovo G500 WiFi Problem

hi marcello33,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Try this,

StepA.
Open Device Manager and check under Network Adapters,
Remember what brand you wireless is ex. Intel, Realtek, or Atheros
right click on it and click Uninstall.
Place a check on the Prompt that says Delete Driver Software for this device.
Now click the View option at the top of Device Manager and select Scan for driver changes.
Open Network adapters again right click and click uninstall driver
Now
On the same prompt for deleting the driver check if there is a check box still.

If yes Repeat the step until you don't see the checkbox anymore. then proceed to Step B.
If no Proceed to Step B,

Step B.
    Restart the computer.

Download and Install the driver below for what wireless you have
 Intel WLAN Driver
 WLAN Driver (Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek)

Restart the computer after installation and Reconnect to the wifi you're having issues with.

Let me know your findings

Okay where do I start? When I first got my notebook around 2 years ago, it was perfectly fine. A few months from now, that's when it started to mess up in so many ways. My system constantly froze randomly, Windows had trouble booting the system, etc. Aside from these issues, I figured I had to factory reset my system in order to fix it. I did this and my system worked fine, only if I was lucky enough to successfully boot it up. It takes 40+ minutes for it to boot up and it works perfectly fine when it does and when I'm browsing through the desktop, but I think there may be major hard drive issues with it. The D drive/partition, or as it's called, the recovery drive, is inaccessible and empty. When I factory reset my laptop, I was able to open it but it was empty. After a few Windows Updates and boots, I can't do this anymore. Bare in mind I was running Windows 8.1 at the time. This partition could be the main culprit as to why my system takes so long to boot up, but I could be wrong. The only things I've installed on it is Windows 10. These are the things I've done with no success: -Run my notebook without the battery and only the charger-Remove the CMOS battery when booting up notebook-Remove the disc drive and boot up notebook I'm honestly running out of ideas. I've tried looking at the other forums but I think my issue is a lot different then theirs. On the other hand I can sometimes successfully boot up my system so maybe having this could give me... Hello.I have a Lenovo G500 and I removed the DVD drive and replaced with a HDD caddy so I can use a SSD and my 1 TB HDD in my laptop. All worked fine for about 1 year, but after that my Lenovo G500 started to get stuck at the LENOVO logo and won't boot, or it just stop responding in windows software. Solved: Re: Lenovo G500 WIndows 10 drivers - Lenovo Community

Lenovo does not make drivers, it is just a reseller. If the hardware is not supported, there is nothing it can do.

That said, everything might work, 8.1 drivers are mostly compatible with 10, so you will not know, until you try.

Removing the battery (page 36) can also be a good option if you do not use the laptop outside that often as recharge cycles will not be used and any generated heat will not effect the battery (heat can contribute to faster battery usage).

Opening the battery side can also be an extra ventilation for the laptop too.
Just keep the battery at normal room temperature and use is once a week for maintainance.

Hope this helps answer your query.
Update us how it goes best for you.

Hi Saif,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that you G500 Laptop is hanging at Lenovo Logo. I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power and BIOS reset. Below are the steps to check and resolve the issue:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
If the issue persists even after performing Flee Power then resetting BIOS to its defaults should resolve the issue
Now access the BIOS menu press F2 when the Lenovo logo appears on the screen while the computer is starting up.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now click on ?F10? Key to save the changes that are done in BIOS, the computer should automatically restart. Please check if the issue persists.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Hi golona,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Please Try uninstalling AMD Driver under Device Manager and make sure to put a check on the prompt asking to delete driver software.
Then Check under Control Panel / Programs and Features / Uninstall any Catalyst or AMD Graphics Components.

Then try to Install This Software
     AMD Video Driver

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

I have a G500 Ideapad that will not boot or boot to the bios no matter what I try. It goes directly to a blank screen (back light is on monitor but nothing appears) no matter which button I push to turn it on. The Lenovo screen does not appear. I have removed everything including the hard drive, reseated the ram and the processor and have even unplugged the cmos battery after removing the main battery for days and it still will not go to bios. This happened two other times but I was able to get it to go to bios. I have upgraded from win 8.1 to 10.

I tried the hard reset. Nothing. I even tried to put another hard drive from another computer in but still get that maddening blank screen right after turning on. Trying Fn + F1 or F2 does nothing. I would love if someone has some idea I can try to get to the bios I have not tried.

I have a Lenovo G500 and it will not turn on all the way. It gets to the logo screen and then gets stuck, enters diag mode, and then sends me to the blue screen. I've tried refreshing, resetting the files, and wiping the entire thing clean, and still can't get past this screen. I'm thinking the HDD is shot. Anyone have any suggestions of solutions? If you think the HDD is shot, any suggestions to what I should replace it with?  Thanks!!

Hi everyone, I am in ownership of Lenovo g500 laptop. I recently bought a crucial mx500 250gb to replace my old failing WD 250gb HDD.I cloned the data to SSD with Acronis software which makes the partition too as I hear, and when i replace the disc with SSD, i experience blue screen with stop error 0x0000001E, I tried reinstalling SATA controller but no luck. the blue screen occurs when it boots up. I can stay 10 seconds in safe mode before it goes blue again, to see messages as drivers installed, one of them is  intel sata ahci controller that was reinstalled, 12.0.0.1082 version. What could be the fix to this problem? can any other driver be the issue? I am searching the net for similar issues but problem persists i cannot use the ssd.
