I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Ok so i have a shot in the dark question, I am not sure on what parts are avalable for this laptop. I just picked this up on a trade and so far has been a pretty decent little machine. It has stock 2.4ghz wifi, which i know is pretty standard. My question is, is there a different internal wifi card i can replace the stock on with that will give me access to both 2.4 ghz and 5.0 ghz. I have been considering going the usb adapter route for both wifi bands but would like to keep some usb ports avalable without needing to get a small hub. Any info would be Appreciated! Thanks
Hi: Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03593667 Unfortunately the 3 supported wireless cards listed in chapter 3 are all single band cards. Back when your notebook was produced, HP had a BIOS whitelist which prevents any other wlan card from working other than the ones listed in the service manual.Read other 3 answers
Hi I have a new HP Pavilion 15-po78sa Notebook, Product number: J5B65EA#ABU, running Windows 8.1 64-bit The Wifi card is a Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn. I'm getting only 1 bar signal strength but all other devices in the house (laptop, ipad, nexus) have a full strength signal. I tried a Samsung USB wifi adaptor & I'm getting full signal strength with this. I updated the drivers for the Broadcom card but there's no difference.
Hi, I am having exactly the same problem.I recently bought a laptop HP Pavilion 15, product number J1Z18EA#ABZ, running Windows 8.1 64 bit with a Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn WiFi adapter. My modem is barely 3 feet away and the signal strength is 1 bar. My mobile phone (Nexus 5), the iPad and my other laptop (an old HP running Windows 7) are showing full strength (or at least 4 out of 5 bars). All the drivers are up to date and nothing changed. I have a laptop INSPIRON E1705 with a WLAN card (p/n DW 1390) installed. I would like to replace it with a WiFi/Bluetooth combo card so I can have Bluetooth capability. What is the recommended card to buy that is compatible with Windows 10?
Given that there will be no antenna inside the system for bluetooth, you're better off with one of these:
I have recently bought a new pci wifi lan card (Ralink rt61 turbo) and have plugged in and installed drivers. Initially the drivers the company I bought it from told me to install didn't work, but after some googling found the correct drivers and downloaded from Ralinks website. However these didn't work either.
When using the Ralink wireless utility it says that the card is disconnected, however in device manage it is both connect and the correct drivers installed and everything is perfectly fine.
I ignored the wireless utility and hoped that windows 7 would still be able to use the wireless card as past experiences have shown to be true. This case however I get nothing. Windows 7 says that the wireless card is experiencing problems, it doesn't show any of the routers that should be shown.
I have been looking around a lot and there have been several drivers that should have worked and they haven't.
I would have thought that the antenna is broken or the card doesn't work however when I use it with ubuntu instead of windows 7 it works perfectly fine without any hassle, so the card is definitely working.
Any advice that anyone can give on how to resolve this would be very welcome.
Have a look at this thread.

So, what i'm trying to do is create a wifi hotspot using my computer. In other words, turning my computer into a router. I'm wanting to do this so i can use my ipod at home instead of only when i'm around other wifi hotspots.
My computer is running off of a wired router, so that i can play online on my PS3 as well. I was told wifi doesn't work well with Ps3's normally so i just bought a wired router. So, the mainline internet cord is plugged into a wired router and then another line runs into my computer.
For some reason, after i make an adhoc connection, the computer is not sending the required information to the iPod so that it connects to the internet.
I've tried entering in the information into the Static tab in my ipod as well, and still only get Local Connection instead of Local and Internet.
This is what my connection looks like through the router using ipconfig /all:

Welcome to Vista Forums!
Unfortunately, it isn't as simple as that. You are connected to the router fine with your computer, but that tells us nothing about the ipod because wireless is off (but that's not the whole story either - you need something extra to do what you want). The following article should tell you what you need and how to do it: How to Connect iPod Touch to Windows 7 Ad-hoc Wireless Network. Although it says Windows 7, there are procedures for Vista as well (and the software will work with Vista).
I hope this helps.

This is my first time posting so i hope its in the right place. Here it goes:
I have just replaced my WiFi card from (BCM943228HMB) to BCM94352HMB. Before replacing my WiFi card i done the following:
1. Made computer boot in safe mode with networking.
After that i replaced the card, then booted into windows 10 (safe mode with networking) and checked device manager. Everything was OK (See attached picture). I then tried to turn on WiFi, but it does not turn on. Any help is appreciated.
Hahaahahaha don't look at the other tab
Why are you booting into safe mode? I would connect a network cable to the wired network port, if possible for you. In regular windows, not safe mode, right click on the 802.11ac network controller and uninstall. Right click on the top device manager entry for the computer itself and select scan for new hardware.Read other 12 answers

I should get dual or single band wifi for a laptop that I would like to purchaseClick to expand...
do you mean a router
or as part of the laptop spec ?
what router do you have and does it work in dual band simultaneously
the advantage of the 5ghz signal is if you are in a crowded 2.4ghz environment then 5ghz helps avoid interference - also the coverage is wider - although the 5ghz router i have linksys - does not seem to be
if your current router only works in 2.4ghz , then no advantage in the short term
some routers are advertised as dual band - but you have to choose between 2.4 or 5 ghz and so ALL devices will need to support 5ghz

Hi: That is a somewhat common issue with the dv2000/dv600 and dv9000 model series. The motherboard overheats and cuts off power to the mini-PCIe slot that powers your wireless card, or the heat generated by the motherboard burns out the wireless card's network chip. The least costly solution that is guaranteed to work (as long as your USB ports work), is to purchase an external usb wireless adapter. You can try another wireless card by removing yours, getting the part number from it and going on eBay and finding a cheap but tested and working replacement by doing your search by the part number. You should be able to get a used wireless card for $10 or less. However, you need to be prepared to accept the worst...that it is a bad motherboard. PaulRead other 7 answers

Hi @DailyGrind, Welcome to HP Forums! I have read your post and wanted to help. I understand that the wireless capability cannot be turned on. The laptop is only 2 weeks old, purchased with Windows 8.1 and upgraded to Windows 10. Wifi was working perfectly until 24 hours ago when it kept losing connection and went from 0 to 1 bar. Other wifi devices had normal signal strength. I tried again today, even comparing with a near identical laptop which is on a fresh install of Windows 10 and could show more wifi services than my own one with both placed side by side within a few metres of the router. I googled around and tried setting the power plan setting to max performance on battery. It made no difference. There was no difference on battery power or plugged in. I tried HP Support Assistance to restore the driver which was V17 before and still V17 after. I then tried HP Support Assistant and Windows Update to find any updates. There were none. I then came to the support pages for the device and saw updates dated 4th October 2015. Puzzled why HP Support Assistant hadn't found them, I used the hp support pages to check for updates. This downloaded a new version of HP Support Assistant and this successfully downloaded a number of updates, include Wireless driver updates (v18). I still only have 1 bar most of the time though it goes up and down a lot, peaking at 3 on battery power. I have reset the power plan settings to default and there is no difference. Still other devices around me have more signal strength than this.&n... Read more

Generally anything with a 4th gen Intel Core or newer is past the whitelist and you can install any wireless or wifi-bluetooth card of the same form factor as long as you have at least 2 antennae which I believe the G6 models do.Read other 1 answers
After I turn on my HP Pavilion g7 laptop, it will automatically connect to my Wi Fi and after a few minutes, it will just disconnect and it won't connect back again unless I shutdown the laptop and start over. Each time, it will only stay connected for just a few minutes. I don't know what the problem is. It only started doing this 2 days ago, it has always worked before, connect automatically and stay connected while I was using the laptop, now I have this problem where it will only connect when I turn on the laptop and just disconnect after a few minutes. I have other devices, phones and tablets that connect to my WiFi router and they don't have this problem. Please advise.Read other answers
I recently purchased a HP Pavilion x2 - 12-b003tu with windows 10 (64 bit). From the very first day, wifi of my laptop is not working properly. At the same network, my phone connects at full speed while my laptop works very poorly. My wifi connection is very fast and works very well with my moble but with my new laptop it has not been working properly. Connection shows full strength but small files (around 10 mb) take very long time to download. Sometimes it gets connected with relatively good speed but never at full. Please provide solution. Thanking you.

When the WiFi button (F12) is pressed the LED show red and a message on-screen briefly says "Flight Mode ON" and the network connection icon in the notification area shows a red X. - this is expected - however When I press F12 the on screen message does breifly display "Flight Mode OFF", but the LED stays orange and WiFi is disbaled. If I click the network icon in the notification area the panel that appears says Flight Mode OFF, WiFi (OFF). I simply cannot re-enable the WiFi with the F12 key. If I go to Computer->Properties->Device Manager, select the Wireless Adapter I can switch the WiFi back on by going to the Advanced tab and selecting Radio->Enable. If I do this the let then goes white and WiFi is OK. So what is going on - why can't I simply toggle the WiFi off and on with the F12 key. Why to I have to resort to the device manager to switch it back on again?
Solved my own problem - if it help others ....the WiFi Driver update dated 25/09/12 caused the problem in my case.Right click on 'Computer' select 'Advanced' and open Device manager. Locate the WiFi Adapter and choose the 'Roll back driver option' to restore the previous driver - worked for me. You think someone would test drivers better than this !!!Read other 9 answers
I have looked up several things on my pavilion g6that could be wrong with this notebook. It's product # is c2n47ua#ABA while the model # g6-2249wm. I've checked the Wi-Fi adapter, it's working properly. While I also uninstalled and reinstalled back in. I've refreshed the computer it allowed me to connect to the internet and then dropped the connection. Now I am factory resetting the computer but I'm not sure if it's going to do anything. If anybody has anything to help me solve this it would be greatly appreciatedRead other answers
