Tablet Edition required for Tablet

Q: Tablet Edition required for Tablet

Got a tablet PC, but we lost the original system disc that came with it. Can I simply put WinXP Pro on it or do I have to put Tablet Edition on it?

Preferred Solution: Tablet Edition required for Tablet

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Your best bet is going to be to contact the manufacturer and see if they will send you one. It will most likely cost you a nominal fee.

If you find a download online it will most likely be illegal.

OS = Windows Vista

Hi there everyone.

I recently aquired a Nisis G3 easypen graphics card. Plug and Play on vista is fine. However i cannot seem to adjust settings for the nib (ie 2 taps = right click) on vista. I can do this with the supplied drivers but they do not want to install correctly.

Having never used a tablet in the past i was wandering if anyone knows if the pen should start drawing/ selectingas soon as it touches the tablet without a left/right click. ie when i select pen/brush tool in paint program the pen draws straight away rather than use a left click) or on a page with text as soon as i thouch the screen it starts to hightlight the text. I though it should have been the opposite( clicking button when ready to proceed.

Hope this is making sense.

I do not have the manuals for this pen and www.nisis.com does not exist for downloading manual.

Any comments on this are appreciated.

A:Nisis G3 easypen tablet help required please...

I hope this may help if you have not already solved the problem. I have some instructions for the Nisis graphics tablet.

Tracking Modes - You can change the Tracking Mode, although it is recommended that you leave these settings in their default settings which are Pen (Absolute) and Mouse (Relative).
Absolute Tracking Mode means that you regard the active area of the graphics tablet as a map of your computer screen. If you place the pen nib in the top left corner of the active area on the tablet, then the cursor will move to the top left corner of the screen. Similarly, if you place the pen nib on the bottom right of the active area of the tablet, then the cursor will move to the bottom right corner of the screen.
Relative tracking is what you are familiar with when you use a conventional mouse. This means that if you lower your mouse onto the active area of the tablet, what ever the position of the mouse, the cursor will remain where it was originally. The cursor onlly moves when you start to move the mouse. So for example, if the cursor is positioned in the top left corner of the screen, and you place the mouse in the bottom left of the screen, the cursor will not move, but will remain in the top left corner of the screen. It is only when you begin to move the mouse that the cursor starts to move in the same directionyou are moving the mouse.
My aplologies if I have misunderstood the problem.

I just received a Compaq tc1000 Tablet PC from a friend in exchange for some computer help. What I would like to do is format it, and start from scratch. I have never used a tablet pc, so I am a bit confused on exactly what I need to re-install the OS. My friend did not have any of the restore discs, and I went to the compaq site to find drivers that were available. It only has drivers listed under 'xp tablet pc' operating system, but I am wondering if I would be able to put windows XP Professional on it and somehow integrate the drivers. Or do I need to contact Compaq and request a set of recovery discs, which I somehow doubt they would have with how old this system is now.

Give Ubuntu 10.04 a shot. It comes with everything you need as far as drivers and the touchscreen will work out of the box. The only issue I have is the screen will not rotate when I fold down the LCD. It's free and http://ubuntuforums.org/ have all the info you could ever need if you have any issues. I installed Wine so I can still use some Windows software like Microsoft Office.

I've been very needy these past weeks and I'm so grateful for this forum, thanks! >.<
Hopefully this will be my last issue with a computer, I've had 3 different computers with different issues!
I've got a Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, which somehow got corrupted and was given a format. The format was pretty successful, but the problem is that the PC is now empty, really empty. I cannot connect to the internet, I cannot use the touch screen, I cannot use my Fn keys and it's driving me crazy.
In Add or Remove Programs, there are no programs, in Windows Tast Manager nothing is running.
Normally the netbook has wifi, its stickers say ''Blutooth'' and ''intel inside, centrino, mobile technology''. I tried connecting through ethernet but it tells me I got a limited connection. I tried downloading drivers but to be completely honest, I don't know what the heck I was doing. Is it even possible to find drivers for the tablet pc these days, like to use the touch screen and all that?
What can I do about this?

Ebay or Craigslist are your best options. What is the make and model # of your Tablet? The manufacturer may have a restore disc you can purchase.

I just bid on a tablet PC on eBay, and only noticed after I had placed the bid that it did not include an operating system. As per usual, with my luck, I won the auction.

When I set out to begrudgingly find an OS to buy, I discovered that Windows XP Tablet Edition is not available for purchase, and can only be found pre-loaded on computers. Somehow eBay still has some, but they're about $170, and I was hoping for something a bit cheaper considering I just bought a new computer which should already have it.

So my question is, if I buy Windows XP or Vista, will the stylus and tablet still work as a mouse? Or will it be reduced to a normal laptop with a pointless touch screen?

Any information on finding a ridiculously low-priced OS would also be very helpful, as I'm rather lacking in funds at the moment.

If it is still under warranty, call Lenovo. IF you tried to reset to factory defaults, and it is still failing, then you have something else that is going bad. My suspicion would be memory as that is what happened to me although it was on a desktop. Something to check...good luck.

I have upgraded my X201 Tablet to Windows 10 32bit. As far as I can tell, everything is working, including the WACOM drivers and touchscreen.  Wireless has worked perfectly so far, not sure about Bluetooth as I don't use it. My only issue is that the buttons on the display do not work. The power button located on the display does work. I tried installing the Tablet Button Driver II and it will go through the install but the buttons do not work.  This is the download link:http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds027627 The document claims Windows 10 compatability and was Last Updated :08 Jun 2015. On inspection, all the files extracted are dated from 2012 and when trying to manually run the software Windows throws up an error that the software is not supported on this PC.   I removed and reinstalled and noted that the driver information page when running the installer does NOT have Windows 10 listed as a supported system. My assumption is that the driver that they have linked on the download page is NOT the most current driver and is infact the driver for Windows 7 from 2012. Does anyone know how to contact Lenovo to get the correct driver posted to the page, or know of an alternate source to try and find it?

System Tool is a nasty put out by crooks trying to steal from you, whether it's money or data. Try booting into Safe Mode by tapping Function 8 as the system bootts up - if you're lucky, the Administrator account may not be quite so hamstrung as the normal User Accounts. AVG won't help in tnis instance but if you run a search in My Computer for .exe files created between two very recent dates - say January 5th and today, you might be able to find and delete the one that's causing it.

I recently purchased a refurbished Toshiba M400 tablet PC/laptop from a reputable computer store. They origionally came preloaded with XP Tablet edition 2005 but I don't think that is what is on this machine. There is a Microsoft Genuine label on it with a product key and and a COA. It also has a Microsoft copyright date of 2004. What it doesn't indicate is what version of XP it is. When I check Control Panel/System, it indicates that it's Windows XP 2002 and that SP3 is installed.

For the most part I can use the stylus pen and it does work but some of the tablet buttons on the screen don't work properly and the handwriting function doesn't work, also there is supposed to be a lined pad type of software that can be used to write notes on using the stylus pen but it also is not available.

I'm wondering if Tablet edition is available on all XP discs and is unlocked using the correct product key. I have a copy of XP Pro from another PC I have and I'm wondering if I can use it combined with the legal product key for this laptop. If not can someone else suggest something I can do. If your asking why I don't take it back to the retailer it's only because they are a 2hr drive away from me and I don't get there too often so if there is a way I can resolve it myself I'd rather do that. A:Question about XP Tablet Edition 2005

The System Properties should show windows XP Tablet Edition if it is installed. Windows XP Tablet Edition is only available from the Tablet manufacturer. The features are not available in Windows XP Pro. Unfortunately Toshiba does not supply replacement discs for their Tablets. The only way to get it back is to send it to one of their repair facilities for 75.00 under warranty or for 75.00 out of warranty plus 35.00 initial call fee. Your laptop is Vista ready so you may have to install Vista if you want the Tablet functionality.

My computer has a Intel centrino vPro proccessor, I'm pretty sure it's 1.94 Ghz. My laptop also has 1GB of ram.
These problems started about 2 days ago, these included:

The system freezing.
The system failing to complete a task
The system not responding after only 6 minutes of inactivity
Internet explorer not working ( i will elaborate on this)
and general instability
The Finger swipe would not log me in

Good day and thank you for reviewing this post.

I have a tablet PC using Win XP TE 2005, SP3.

I cannot get it to install updates from MS.

I have followed the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949104/ and at the MS page describing how to get updates to work when they do not work. I have also tried the Windows Update Agent, also from MS.

None of these altered the symptoms AT ALL.

For the most part, this machine is running perfectly ... it is quick, responds well, and does everything else properly, but it WILL NOT install updates. It DOWNLOADS them ... but will not install. (Express Updates from MS site)

I do not have an OS CD for this .... I have all 3 versions of XP (H, PRO, MC), and have tried a chkdsk /r with the XP home SP3 disk ... did not find or fix any errors.

Please -- if you have anything to offer, offer it.

--Oh .... I have scanned with MWB, Vipre, and also run an Iobit ACS scan. No spyware/viruses found in either Vipre or MWB. Norton 360 is installed, but firewall and Virus Protection turned off. Vipre has been removed so there is only 1 virus proggy. Internet works wonderfully.

Thank you very much and have a nice day.

Hi all. I'm new here. I have always found solutions to my PC probs from forums like this all over the web, but now had to go direct as I am unable to find a fix for my problem.

I recently got my hands on a used Gateway M280 (AT 1) tablet pc, but had problems with the screen rotation in tablet mode, caused by the XP SP3 update (conflicted with the ATI Mobility Radeon X600SE graphics card) according to web remarks on this problem.

I have decided to re-install Win XP tablet edition (ghost copy) and it installed fine, but the pc does not boot after the reboot action. It gets to the boot screen just as the win logo fade in, but does not get any further. Booting into safe-mode is also no use as it stops at agpcpq.sys (briefly showing ?press enter to load sptd.sys").

I am obviously unable to use the ?ghost? install discs to get to the system repair options and tried using my XP PRO SP2 disk, but once all the drivers loaded, the system indicates that no disk is present.

I have downloaded the SATA driver as I suspect that this is the reason why my XP PRO does not recognise the HDD (though it does not make sense that the system will get to the boot screen, but XP boot disk does not find the HDD). My problem now is to get the SATA driver installed as I do not have a FDD to load it via floppy disk.

I am not very good at this type of thing and hope that someone will be able to suggest a solution in ?layman?s terms? if possible? I also know that there?s a ?self-booting freeware U... Read more

I really do not know where else to ask this question so I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place.  I have a customer who has a Fujitsu Lifebook which originally had Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 on it.  I was looking for the OEM version of Tablet PC Edition 2005, but could not find it.  So I downloaded the 2 iso's titled Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 that I saw , ran install, and then get stuck at the part where it asks me put in the product key.  The product key on the bottom does not work so I found this article and followed the directions under manual install, but that product key does not work either.  The customer does not have the original cd's that came with the laptop so that is not an option.  Please help me understand why my technet subscription does not allow me to access oem version of the os or tell me how to get this working.

I haven't been able to get my Gateway PC to boot properly after a strange shutdown. I posted the problem in a previous thread....but I have new informaiton. My IT support person was able to boot the PC using a flash drive designed to ghost our work PC's to install Windows 7. I had hoped to use this limited operating system to run the recovery dvd's that I had created but when I try to run them....I get the message "the program cannot start beacuse LZ32.dll is missing -- try reinstaling the program to fix the problem. I have an old Tesco Hudl 1 tablet that I am thinking of giving to a nephew. I need advice as to how to make any data stored on this tablet essentially unrecoverable.

I am aware that in many instances and particularly with the Hudl 1 that a factory reset will not suffice. The Hudl 1 does not have an encryption facility and this makes me wary of what I can actually do to make any data marked on the internal memory unrecoverable.

I was wondering if I filled the memory with dummy or other data and then did a factory reset immediately after (and repeated this process multiple times) whether the info previously marked on the disc would thus to all intents and purposes be beyond recovery for anyone with access to easily available recovery software on the net.

Many thanks for your time. Any information you can provide will be most gratefully received.

I ran mallwarebytes antimallware and it failed and now like everything else won't allow me to run it again. I also tried windows live which caused it to kill firefox. They led me to your forum and I went to run the dds.scr and the rootrepeale but they won't run so I have no loggs to show you.

I was ablre to do a full backup so... I can wipe it and start over but would prefer not to....

I have a gateway PC -- with XP Tablet edition which might make a difference.

I did see some help that discussed getting logs for what seems like the program I had but don't want to jump the gun.....

Let me know what if nay information I can provide and I will do so.....

If not instructions on starting over would be nice....

Thanks -- Rum2Runner

A:PC Antispyware 2010 and Rootkill Virus -- XP Tablet Edition

Sorry, thought of two additional items....

XP firewall seems to be working and I have the pc offline and have been loading software via flash drive rather than vie the internet.

My desktop has mcAfee and I updated the viruse today to hopefully avoid cross contamination.

Thanks -- R2R

I have been able to log in to my tablet pc running XP pro SP2 both at work (where I am on a domain) and at home. I wanted to print from the tablet via my desktop at home, so in order to access the local resources I thought I had to tell my tablet to connect to the local windows workgroup rather than through a domain, so I switched this setting - but now at the log on screen it will not accept my username and password, and I always get the message: "The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type your password again."

I cannot access my computer at all - hitting F5 and trying safe mode or any of the other options don't work - I always end up at the log on screen with the same results.

Any ideas?? I have to find a way to log on! Secondarily, is there a way to access my printer on the local workgroup without encountering this problem again?

I don't see how Safe Mode can do that - it should let you in , if only as the Administrator. It's the Function 8 key - not 5 - was that a typo or will Safe Mode simply not come up?

I work at a school and am responsible for 130 or so laptops with XP Tablet PC Edition installed on them from Gateway (now MPC). We have recently purchased volume license media from Microsoft and would like to install it on our Gateway e-155's. The issues started when I discovered that the e-155's had SATA HDDs, which XP does not support. So to solve that issue, I used nLite to slipstream SATA drivers into the volume license install disc for XP Pro with SP2 (aka XP Tablet Disc 1). When I did this, it installed, but did not ask for disc 2, which has all of the tablet functionality on it. Also, the more major issue is that I can't install my drivers. I tried installing both the chipset driver and the ethernet drivers but they both are not being recognized. I have seven devices not being found in Device Manager: Mass Storage Controller,Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, Biometric Coprocessor, PCI Device, Video Controller, Video Controller (VGA Compatible).

If I could just get the chipset and ethernet drivers to install I think I would be able to install the rest of them. However, when I try to install the chipset drivers, they install just fine, but Device Manager doesn't recognize them as being installed. When I try to install the Intel Pro/1000 drivers, I get an error message that says:

I figured out that I did not have all of the Windows Management Instruemtation services installed. I reinstalled them and got my ethernet drivers up and running. I am now able to install some of the unknown devices. Will keep you posted.

My next issue to tackle is: How do I get the Tablet components off of the Tablet CD? Upon reinstallation, it never asked me for disc 2, which has all of the tablet pc tools on it.

Your domain login credentials are on the domain server, not on the local machine. You need to use a local machine logon for what you're trying to do.

Dear Lenovo-Community,my Thinkpad S1 Yoga change into tablet modus not only when I fold back the monitor but also when I have closed the lid normaly and than reopened it or sometimes by slightly moving the monitor or a minor percussion of the table. That is very annoying, because than I have no access to keyboard or touchpad while beeing in the laptop-shape. I can revive keyboard/touchpad by folding back the monitor and than back to the normal laptop shape, but this works only one time! After that I have to send the thinkpad in the energy saving mode and wake it up, to get keyboard/touchpad back.I think it is a problem with the sensor, but does there a software setting exist so keyboard/touchpad keep unlocked in tablet-modus? Or a way to switch off the tablet-modus completely? I can live without the tablet-modus and the thinkpad is probably too old to be worth a great repair. My system is fully updated. Any idea out there?

I have been using my Inspiron 13 5378 since December 2016. After working normally for few days my screen stopped auto-rotating. I sent my laptop back to Dell for repair and received it after a month in April. Very frustrating thing.
When I received the repaired laptop the auto orientation was working fine but it stopped working again after a couple of days.
I don't know what is triggering this but I have tried myriad of solutions available online including reinstalling chipset and sensor drivers, disabling and re-enabling sensors in device manager, setting sensor services to start automatically and much more.
But still, the auto-rotate feature is not working.
I don't want to send my laptop back to dell again for another month, please suggest any solution if you know it.
Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I've noticed that my Yoga 910 is not auto rotatingwhen I set it to tent mode nor to tablet mode. Not only it doesn't auto rotate but it also keep the keyboard active... Not sure if this is a faulty sensor problem or just some bug. I've tried to follow the solutions presented in other topics but without success even tried a system restore but the problem is still here. I can't really identify which update has created this situtation but I know that when a couple of months ago it was still working. I also have the impression that more are affected, so could Lenovo release a patch to troubleshoot and solve such an important issue for a Yoga product (basically there is no Yoga functionality with this problem). Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!
