Graphic Card/BIOS/Driver Issue PLz help

Q: Graphic Card/BIOS/Driver Issue PLz help

I am running windows Vista. I have just reformated and then I literally started getting graphic card errors *Note was working perfectly fine before hand!!!!*, so I don't think it's the graphics card. After installing Vista *At this time I am running on onboard graphics*, I installed the installation disc that came with the card, and then the most recent drivers. But when I restart to ocmplete driver installation, I get BIOS beeps *2 short, 1 long* which indicates a video error *can someone give me more information on this*. Since it didn't work I decided to reformat again this time installing a later version of the graphic drivers 186, *which I know are stable from when I know I used before I reformated*, and still no luck. The thing again, which I must emphasize, is it was working 100% *no troubles at all* before I reformatted which was yesterday, and my display is connected and coming from my graphics card. I go to device manager and I get error code 43 can someone also get me more in-depth information on this as well as the BIOS beeps.

Much appreciated, and I hope to god it isn't my graphics card

There seems to be driver issue on video card. As soon as you fresh install, it works great for few hours, may be few days. After that, it crashed with blue screen.

If I go into safe mode and uninstall the display driver, sometimes it works other times, it doesn't

Any idea? is my laptop running too hot? how do I check the temp?

Hi Serious Gamer,

You could try running the Intel Driver Update Utility. Completely safe directly from the Intel site, it should find any drivers that our out of date and update them. IntelŽ Driver Update Utility

I know you said you ran multiple programs like that and if you've already tried that one, just let me know. I was trying to find a specifications sheet about your friends laptop, best I could find was this. Product data-sheet Toshiba Satellite L70-A-13P notebooks (PSKNEE-03X02WFR)

Does his laptop have the discrete graphics card or the on-board graphics?

Hello friends

How can I update nvidia grapchic card bios????

A:graphic card bios update

How often should I update my graphics card display drivers?

The general rule of thumb for graphic card display drivers is "if it ain't broken, don't fix it". When NVIDIA releases a new product, over time, Software Developers learn more about the architecture, and are able to gain better performance from this architecture through updated drivers. As a product matures, driver updates mainly provide bug fixes and compatibility with newer software.

If your NVIDIA based graphics card is a newer model, it is recommended that you update your graphic card drivers regularly to get the best performance and experience from your PC. If your NVIDIA based graphics card is an older model, then we suggest you update your drivers only if you are experiencing problems while running newer software on your PC.

The only hint I can give , is that my MB is SLI (not activated)and the previous card was retail 7600 GS SLI .Now it's not retail , and not SLI.
I don't know if it has anything to do with it , maybe.Any idea?

The initial display is a function of the card's CMOS. Some cards simply don't have any initial display.

Is there any problem with the card, or just no boot message?

Hello I have a Pavilliion 550-142d which I wish to upgrade to provide a better gaming experience. The pre-installed card in the Pavillion is GT 730 which is not made for gaming purpose.   The graphic card I'm intending to buy is either the GTX950 or GTX 1060. I have done the necessary research on upgrading the graphic card.  But I only discovered recently that I will need update the BIOS when changing the GPU. What are the precautions or steps that I should take in terms of updating the BIOS to support the new graphic card? I have just finished replacing my power supply unit successfully to 550w today. The only problem I encountered was I didn't have a slim-SATA to power the built-in DVD drive. I intend to get a slim-SATA adapter eventually. I will proceed to purcahse the graphic card soon, please advise me on the BIOS support as I understand HP has a built-in program to monitor and update any driver accordingly. As such I'm concerned if the GPU card support is in place.Currently I do not have any other NVIDIA program installed to update the GPU card.  Thank you.

Hey!So at the moment i am trying to enable virtualization,i m able to boot the computer into windows but entering network boot (spamming f10 key before HP loading screen)  but due to past problems, i have trouble getting into BIOS.It started when i got a new graphics card (Asus Geforce GT740) and this caused my computer not being able to boot, without forcing it into network boot. But like i said, when im trying to enter BIOS, it gets onto the screen where it says "Press Escape to enter Startup Menu" which at that moment it ignores when i press ESC.I have tried holding it, i have tried all F1-F12, but nothing makes a difference, so im wondering if there is any way for me to get into bios and Bypass this problem.I have looked for BIOS updates aswell, but i haven't been able to find one so far.

A:Cant Enter BIOS Due to Graphic card Problem.

@alilleland?, welcome to the forum. The reason that the computer wouldn't boot with the GT 740 installed is, it requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  If you are still using the GT 740, I suggest removing it to see if you can get into the Startup Menu.  You can do this by tapping the Esc key as soon as the computer begins to boot.

Hi, I have recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit,and I have several problems listed below:

1. My games are lagging like crazy, can't move the character, even the older games like CS 1.6, Half-Life 2, Tomb Raider Legend, Sims 2...

2. When I had aero effects on, some random pieces of open windows and taskbar flickering, but removed when I put the Windows 7 Basic theme on.
So I was wondering, is this because of the driver, because everything was working fine when I had XP installed, and is there a way to fix it???

P.S. I have chatted with an NVIDIA support technician, and he said that I perform a clean installation of the driver, which I did, but nothing still.

A:Need help with Graphic Card driver

Have you performed a clean install of the Windows 7 or you upgraded from XP?
I usually suggest to make clean OS installs so possible errors might be avoided. If you didn't upgrade, try using Driver Sweeper and then make sure you install the proper drivers for your videocard: 7600GS - Windows 7 x32 drivers.

Hello TSG.

First off, I think I should start by saying my PC specs:
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2, .Net Framework 1.1 and 2.0, 32 bit
Processor: AMD Sempron, 2600+, 1.6GB GHZ
RAM: 512mb + 1GB tablet
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon x550, 256MB (I know, old)
Hard Drives: C: Total - 30GB, Free - 8GB; D: Total - 45GB, Free - 44GB;
I've been having some trouble since last friday.

I thought of adding all what I did, but it'd be long and unnecesesary. I'll just post what I did after formating.
I was getting some blue screens saying that ati2dvag.dll was stanked on a infinite loop. After a lot of unsuccessful fixes, I formatted my Hard Drives (which explains why I have so much free space).

Now after I installed the ATI latest driver, my computer keeps crashing. It doesn't crash on secure mode though. I don't see any blue screen now though, the computer just freezes, screen goes black for a second, and when the image comes back, the graphic card is not working right anymore (I know this because the image refreshes much slower). Or it just freezes permanently.

I tried older display drivers, like 8.1 and 9.1, HECK, even 5.2. None of them made a difference.

I'm so tired... I've spent hours and hours on this... I also lost everything I had when I formatted...

Please, help me...

EDIT: Did I put this in the right section? I'm new so I'm not really sure o.o

Welcome to TSF.

Sorry, but I have to ask this . . . . Why are you still running WinXP SP1 (or even SP2 as it indicates under your username)?? If this PC is connected to the internet, you subjecting it to a lot of vulnerabilities. You really should install SP3.

You can download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

Both the download and the install will take a chunk of time, but it'll be worth it in the long run. Also, I'd strongly suggest leaving your PC running overnight for a couple of nights so that it picks up all of the updates released since SP3.

Anyother suggestion: Exhaust all least destructive troubleshooting methods before doing something such as formatting your HDD. Although that is occasionally necessary, it should be a last resort.

It could very well be that the graphic card is going bad. The only way to tell for sure would be to install it in another PC and see if you have the same problems. You can get a similar card on eBay pretty cheap or you can upgrade.

Since you've gone as far as formatting your HDD, reinstalling the OS, drivers, etc., I'd say that you have pretty well knocked out any chance of it being a software issue.

Hello. Recently I bought Gigabyte HD 4650 1gb agp 8x card. I unistalled drivers for my old card, removed the old card, put this new card, and plugged in everything. I turned on my pc, installed drivers and directx from cd, and restarted. But i then i noticed some problems.
First, Aero looks weird(picture: http://oi56.tinypic.com/2qu87xz.jpg), so i turned it off. Second, in game scenes and game itself works perfectly, but intros, and other prerendered scenes are really slow and laggy(1 fps!).
Third, when i start playing some game, it lags a bit but after a few seconds it stops and works perfect.
Fourth, some games don't show graphics correctly. Examples:
Assassins creed 2(first scene): http://i51.tinypic.com/16c9kzp.png
NFS Carbon(if i set visual treatment on high, otherwise it works normally): http://i53.tinypic.com/21e5kb7.pn
Also, I noticed that Catalyst Control Center doesn't show SmartGart and VPU recover tab, and I think they should be there.
I installed new drivers, installed newer version of directx, didn't helped. I removed drivers, same thing, i played with some options in Catalyst and ingame options, nothing. I changed some compatibilty stuff in windows, same thing. Please help, I really don't understand why it doesn't works properly. I meet all the requirements for this card, and this problems really frustrates me. Thanks in advance

Secondly, for uninstalling drivers I'd recommend using Driver Sweeper to completely eradicate any trace of the previous driver and see if that helps.

I'm really confussed about this issue, but I'll explain whats happened and if anyone has any tips please pass them on.

I have a machine by Tiny.com, running win 98se, 500mhz celeron, intel on baord graphics and audio.

I purchased a prophet 3d 4000xt 64mb pci graphics card and followed installation procedure and install card success fully and have been using it with no problems.

3 weeks ago I got given a 700mhz P3 prosessor and replaced it with my tied celeron, and the machine works a dream (considering it's spec!!) again no issues.

I then decided to upgrade my OS to Win XP (Pro). I booted Win98 and started to upgrade, everything started fine until the computer had to rest.

After searching for the MBR the cumputer would 'Hang' on a black screen with a white flashing cusor in the top left corner.

It took me ages to figure out that it was my graphics card that was the problem and after uninstalling it the system booted with no probs and completed the upgrade.

So no I start the install process of card and the same black screen on start up appears.

I've downloaded up to date drivers for XP from Hurcules website but nothing seems to be working.

The ATI Radeon x1650PRO does not have a high power requirement so it is unlikely to be related the PSU. There are two possible problems,

the first to look at is did you install the card correctly?

the second is, do you have the correct drivers for the card. ie 64bit

system restore?
choose a date before problem
2) update the graphics / video driver - whats the make and model of PC - what version of windows are you running - the driver should be available on the PC manufacturers website - support section

First off, I think I should start by saying my PC specs:
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2, .Net Framework 1.1 and 2.0 (about to reboot and install the rest), 32 bit
Processor: AMD Sempron, 2600+, 1.6GB GHZ
RAM: 512mb + 1GB tablet
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon x550, 256MB (I know, old)
Hard Drives: C: Total - 30GB, Free - 8GB; D: Total - 45GB, Free - 44GB;

EDIT: I don't know if this is in the right section or not o.o
If not, please excuse me.

A:ATI Graphic Card issue.

Is the graphics card a Sapphire ATI radeon x550 if so did you go to the Sapphire site to get the drivers? Or did you get those drivers from AMD/ATI site? If you went to AMD/ATI then you will have different drivers as Sapphire have their own drivers for their graphics card

Where do I get a a full UEFI BIOS which is a HP level 8 or higherBIOS level for my h8-1070t then? HP shipped it with a PegatronIPISB-CH2 motherboard. Warranty expired, though. I askedPegatron a few months ago; no answer.

A Google search for IPISB-CH2 gave about half of the first 20items found saying that this motherboard will not boot with anyGeforce 700 series graphics card. Tried, and failed to boot withtwo brands of GTX 750 Ti cards.

I found this previous thread on this subject but could not addanything to it:

I am a bit of noob in Computer hardware. I have a HP Compaq 8100 CMT (Energystar) system with Window 7 Professional (32 Bit). The system comes with a Intel Graphic Accelerator Card. I also have a Nvidia Quadro NVS 290 Graphic Card(256MB, 64-bit, DDR2 SDRAM). I want to install it in my system to improve graphic performance. I have been suggested to update my BIOS before installing any new component. My current BIOS is 786H1 v01.05. I went to this link http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=4098384&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4053 and http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=wk_85463_2&swEnvOid=4060 I am not sure if I am at the right place (I don't want to corrupt my system. I have loads of data here) 1. Please suggest me correct BIOS update to download. 2. Do I start from a fresh install system if I update the BIOS or My Old data in HDD is retained?3. Is this the correct Driver? http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=wk_61110_14. What are the precaution I need to keep in mind? Thank You. System Specification:

I own HP Pavilion Elite HPE H8 1010cs. Motherboard is HP IPISB-CH2. I bought new graphic card GAINWARD Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB together with 600W PSU Corsair CX600M. First I tried my new PSU with my old GPU nvidia 550Ti. It worked perfectly. But when I replaced old card with new GTX 970, bios freezes on the first power on window. Escape does not work. Should I return new graphic card, or is there still some hope in this?

Hello @Tomas83, I understand that you are having issues getting your HP Pavilion HPE h8-1010cs Desktop PC towork with your Gainward GeForceŽ GTX 970 Phantom 4GB Graphics Card. I believe the reason you are experiencing this issue is the the break in the downward compatibility on the PCIe slots was broken at around the Gen 2.1 mark and you are trying to put a Gen 3.0 card in a Gen 1.0 slot. This in essence makes your computer incompatible with the graphics card you have chosen to use.  I am providing you an article on the overclock.net website titled The final answer to the controversial PCIe x16 version compatibility., where the author explains what I described and goes into how he made the determination. I would advise you review the article if you have any questions concerning the issue you are facing. I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

For the last several days, my PC has been acting very strange upon start-up.
It starts with 640x480 resolution screen and refuses to accept any higher res setting.
I have to re-install the NVIDIA driver and restart the PC to solve this.
But next time I start my PC up, I have the same problem again.
Now I have go through this re-installation and re-boot steps everytimes I start up my PC.

What's wrong with my PC?
Can anyone help me here?

I have P4, 3 GHz, 1 G ram, Window XP home, NVIDIA Geforece FX 5200. It is 2+ year old.
I've already scanned my PC several times with several applications and it is free of spywares and viruses.
This is cold start so it is not temp related.
Also I didn't have any new software installed recently.
Harry.

I'm an newbie when it comes to this kind of stuffs, so if you would be kind enough to make your responses "Newbie friendly". Thanks

Can someone help me install a new Nvidia driver?

My current driver is Nvidia Quadro NVS 135M and i would like to change it to Geforce 6600 or something higher. But i would go with 6600. So if someone could provide me a step-by-step process on how to install these would be highly appreciated. Thanks

A:How do i install a new Graphic card driver

What you're asking is to change hardware, not software... which isn't exactly updating. You would have to buy the specific graphics card to do that.

If you want to update your graphics card:
Start -> Search "Device Manager" -> Click Device Manager -> Click arrow next to "Display Adapters" -> Right Click your graphics card -> Select "Update Driver Software..."

I have just reinstalled Windows 7 x64 which is OK then install Asrock H55 mobo drivers which is OK but when I install Nvidia gts450 drivers and reboot I end up with a black screen or just a screen with no taskbar or shortcuts, any advice please to get it working.
I have also done a Paragon image from a couple of months ago with the same problem that just shows an empty desktop.

A:Graphic Card Driver Problem

There could be a problem with the driver you are installing - or your video card just doesn't like it. You can try installing a previous version (older version) driver to test.

Or your video card may have gone south (died - the slow death). If it works when using the generic drivers that load from Windows but then fails when you load the nVidia drivers it means that the advanced features of the card - like 3d graphics - are failing or have failed.

You can play with the settings for the card in the nVidia Control panel to see if you can get it to work with the driver, or at the very least isolate wherein the problem lies. If you have played with these settings in the past you should try resetting the factory defaults.

Also try re-seating the card, and check that all the contacts are clean and there is no dust in the slot. Re-check the power cord(s) to the card too.
