Preferred Solution: How can I disable Hotkey on a Lenovo Yoga 920 in linux?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an X1 Carbon 6th Gen and I have the most recent drivers for the hotkey integration: 9.0.1.6 rev 5. As said in the title, my hotkeys don't work after every boot until  I go to 'services.msc' and restart the Lenovo Hotkey Client Loader. Afterwards, every hotkey works including after sleep and until the next boot. Could anyone help me diagnose the problem with the service? 'services.msc' displays the loader as running after every boot, meaning that the service itself has messed up somewhere.

As the current BIOS stands, OS installers - for me specifically, Fedora Workstation - can't see any internal drives. I've read that this is an issue that can be solved easilly with an update to the BIOS, hopefully lenovo will realize how silly this is and fix it.   Until Lenovo makes a change, no linux based OS can be used with this laptop.

It it possible to disable Win+X hotkey ? without disabling the Mobility Center itself? Or, better yet, use some other hotkey for mobility center (which, though, is probably simple) and bind some other hotkey to Win+X?

I have HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoWinKeys set to 0x01 already.

Additionally, I want to bind (shift+)alt+tab actions to Win+Z / Win+X ? is that possible?
Additionally (in case this won't require a separate tread), I can't bind Win+` (at least in Launchy) ? is there something special about this combination?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Install eventghost. You can configure it to capture just about anything (keystroke, remote control button press, etc).

A:disable Windows F1 hotkey

You should be able to disable the help stuff by disabling the Help and Support service. (start->type services.msc->press enter) At least that is how it works in XP... haven't tried it in win7 yet.

Hey guys.

I need a way (software, windows settings, whatever works) to disable my computer's internet (or block the connection of an individual process) by simply pressing a key (not mouse) in the keyboard.

Thanks for the help.

EDIT: Windows vista just in case. The disabling on the internet has to be close to instant as soon as I press said key (minimum delay).

EDIT: The key should be global since I'll be pressing it while using a specific process and not on the desktop or anything.

Friends from Lenovo,I write you because, on August 12th, 2016, trying to install the new Windows 10 Anniversary Update, I had to do a reboot of my notebook and in the process, I lost most of the programs and drivers that use my notebook to work properly. I already installed most of the drivers I lost that day, but I still haven`t found and install the correct driver for the hotkeys of my notebook. So far, I have tried with the files r09vu09w and 8jvu43ww, but none of that files is the correct one for my ThinkPad X220 notebook, which I bought in the year 2012. Therefore, I need to ask you if you could tell me how can I get, download the CORRECT hotkey file for my notebook, so I could download it and install it on my Lenovo notebook. Friends from Lenovo, could you please tell me how can I get the correct hotkey file for my notebook Lenovo ThinkPad X220, in order to download it and install it on my notebook?THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR HELP!!!! Yours truly,Cristián Palau

I have 2 screens, one large one for most my work, with a smaller one for when I am working with files and need to be changing windows a lot, it gives me somewhere to put them. However with my current graphics card, rendering 2 screens at once causes a notable fps drop when one screen is displaying a game and the other some part of my desktop. Is there a way I could create a hotkey to disable the second screen? (or a pre-existing one in windows or nvidia gpu drivers).

Hi, When I'm pressing alt+shift+l I get synaptics touchpad debug information. As this is a combination, that in Polish Programmer keyboard layout is typically used to get letter ?, this key binding is really annoying. The only way to disable this that I've found so far is to uninstall synaptics driver. Though this means also loosing touchpad gestures so I'm reluctant to go this way. As far as I was using WIndows 7, this was not an issue. Anybody has an idea, how to disable this key binding?

How would I add a hotkey to toggle on/off an audio device of choice in Windows 7 x64?

Here is an image of Windows 7 sound dialog window > playback tab to audio devices.

reason being: skype doesn't have a default audio device as an option so I switch between headphone (reciever) to speaker (PC creative sound card) with a hotkey I defined already using NirCmd. problem is skype doesn't switch along with it. my method is to disable an audio device so that way the next one is effective in skype. complicated but it's the best and only way I can think of without making it TOO complicated as it is already.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hey everyone, I have one or really two issues, but they may be connected. I bought the Yoga 900 3 months ago and yesterday I found out that the hotkey for disabling the touchpad worked only oneway meaning I pressed it and the touchpad would disable but I couldn't unlock it again no matter how often I pressed the key again (in combination with fn and also without). I needed to go to standby and then log in again for it to be re-enabled. I updated a hotkey driver, and afterwards when I disabled the touchpad with the hotkey it did still not work. So I went into standby and the whole laptop did not react to me pressing the standby/on switch on the right side for like 5 min. It just stayed off with a black screen. After a while it rebooted completely. Ever since then everything works fine except that the hotkey/f6 doesn't do anything now, not even disabling the touchpad. Can anyone help?

When googling, lots of pages say to use the BIOS Hotkey Mode setting, but on the Yoga 920 there is none.  Other pages say to use Lenovo Settings, but nowadays when starting that, it redirects to Lenova Vantage, which has no setting for this.  Hardware Settings | Input has Pen and More, but nothing at all for the keyboard. It's quite crippling not to have fn keys in easy reach without using a bucky key to access them.  Besides, the Fn and Ctrl keys have been reversed on recent models like this one, which makes it even worse, so I'd like to have a setting to swap those too (and apparently there used to be a setting for that too).  My old Thinkpad Helix has the good old keyboard layout, that's what I'm used to.

Lenovo, it is much appreciated if you can provide an updated BIOS that allows the owner to enable/disable the hotkey function. The advantage is, that the owner can make a clean maiden Windows installation without 3rd party software, or use other operating systems such as Linux that lacks this feature of switching between the hotkey function and standard behavior for F1-F12 keys. Looking forward to this, as it gives me freedom of choice and it also is a key for buying Lenovo products future-wise. Thanks!

I'm not an owner of your model, but with some Lenovo laptops Hot Key functionality is added by installing the Lenovo Utility application.  For your model there isn't a Windows 10 version of Lenovo Utility available, but you may wish to try installing the Windows 8.1 version.  If it doesn't install then try re-installing again using Windows Compatibility Mode.  Here is a link to the Windows 8.1 driver....

Hi there. I'm planning to buy a Lenovo G500 laptop, and I simply can't find the correct answer to one small question.

As you might know, laptops of today incorporate many hotkey functions on their F1-F12 keys. And for that particular Lenovo model (and some of its closely-related brethren), I can't figure out what the F8 hotkey does in Windows 7.

It looks like three small squares, and ''F8'' below them. According to the G500 user manual, it is used to ''display all currently active apps''. As apps are only available in Windows 8, does anyone of you know what purpose could it serve in Windows 7?

I posted this already on Lenovo official forums, but not a single soul bothers to answer. There's gotta be someone who uses Windows 7 on Lenovo G500/G505/G510/G700/G710 or any other Lenovo with inverted Fn/function keys. If you're one of them, press F8 (or Fn+F8) and tell me what happens.

Thanks in advance.

That particular brand and model laptop comes with Windows 8 pre-installed.

If you need more specifics I have this PC right here! Airplane mode works if I manually activate it via the wi-fi settings, but the hotkey, F7, won't turn it on/off.  The key doesn't appear to be broken, just the hotkey function it carrys, as using Fn activates the basic F7 function. All my other hotkeys work perfectly. Anyone have the same issue? Know of a fix?

I have a Lenovo T530 and am using Windows 10 and recently had to replace the keyboard because a few buttons were just plain gone (don't ask). I'm not sure if it's the Lenovo, the keyboard or Windows 10 that are causing these problems, but I am beginning to think it's Windows 10. I apologize in advance for the long post. Despite the keyboard being new and installed and working very well (as is obvious from the fact that I'm typing on it right now), the backlight is not working, even on startup. I made sure when I purchased the keyboard that the backlight was included and there's even that little symbol on the spacebar indicating that it should. While this is not the end of the world, the volume buttons have completely stopped working. I can control the volume on the computer through the keyboard's volume buttons after startup for about a minute, but as soon as I click a single program or open an application or something I can no longer control the volume through the volume buttons. I can still use most of the other hotkey buttons (barring Fn+F5 and Fn+F6, but I never used those even when they did work). I have tried updating a few drivers and uninstalling and reinstalling drivers in multiple times in multiple ways and checking things in BIOS and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions other than a system restore or something along those lines since I had a similar audio problem on my last keyboard with the audio and it went away with a new windows update. This y720 is my first real computer that I've bought/owned myself, so i'm not too good with understanding parts. I'm trying to have 16gb of total RAM but I ordered the wrong type of RAM (different Hz) and had to send it back. Before trying again I was wondering if this would be compatible with the RAM my latop came with. They seem to have the exact same specs. Or is it preferable to get identical ones? Another question, that's more for convenience: I recently had to reset my laptop because it had an Os problem. After I got that sorted, I went to the lenovo website and redownloaded Nerve Sense, the Bios, and a few other recommended things. The hotkeys for it dont seem to work (keyboard lighting, fan overdrive, etc). Is there a way to get the computer to use the Hotkeys again. I'd like to use them because its much faster than opening up nerve gear everytime I want to turn my lights off.
