Preferred Solution: Keyboard delay input and date time keeps changing.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi.So as the title states, I'm having a problem with mouse/keyboard input.  Occasionally (usually if I'm doing something that puts the CPU under load, not necessarily full load, but under load.), my keyboard and mouse will get this delay where if I press a key or press a mouse button, the computer doesn't seem to register it until a second or two later.  It will normally happen now and again in short bursts, not really something that happens consistently and continuously for a long and extended period of time.(Okay, so I'm gonna put the problem into a small list, since it's a little easier for me this way)>Pressing a button on the keyboard or mouse, the computer will not do anything with the input until a second or two later.  Example: Pressing forward, backward, then side-strafe in a game will cause it to not register for a second or two, then I'll move forward, backward, then sideways after that 1-2 seconds.  Typing in something like Trillian will cause it to register the first few keystrokes slowly, and then suddenly type everything out in a quick burst.>Sometimes, if I press a button quickly and not for an extended period of time, the computer will act as if I held it down for several seconds once it registers.>If I press enough buttons while the delay is still going or if the keystrokes are starting to register, the computer beeps. I've got filter keys, sticky keys, and bounce keys turned off completely with no way to activate them excep... Hello, Dafsbro, don't think you have any sort of nasty on the system as this sounds like the tell-tale signs that your motherboard battery (cmos battery) needs replacing.

I recently installed Windows 8 Pro on my Acer Aspire 5515 notebook. I set the time and date on the desktop clock, and every time I log in, the time and date are wrong and I have to reset them again. I have a dual boot setup with Windows 8 on one partition, and Ubuntu 12.10 on the other.

It doesn't appear to be an issue with the hardware of my computer, because the time and day stay set in Ubuntu. Some time ago, I was running a boot time diagnostic, and I got a warning the the was not timer connected to the apic...but that's all I could read before the message disappeared, I researched what I could and learned that this could and learned this had something to do with a physical component of my processor or related to my processor, but was unable to find out any more. As far as I know, this is the only hardware problem I have, and I thought this might be the cause of my erratic time/date.

Any thoughts?

A:Time and date keep changing

The bios time and windows time are set properly. If I, say turn off my computer and retrun to windows later, the bios time will still be correct, as will the time in Ubuntu 12,10 on a separate partition, but Windows clock time will have changed.

The CMOS battery in my computer is fine.

Hello Team,

I'm pretty sure I have a virus again

Windows 7 shows error messages (not always, but frequently) while booting although the system was shut down properly.

When it does, the date and time changes to 2009 and the bottom right quick launch changes in weird ways, e.g. symbols disappear.

I even had my start-up menu look totally distorted before (once) and the system shut itself down once before (a blue screen appeared, can't remember what it said).

The whole thing has been bugging me since a couple of days now.
I hope someone could help me!
Thanks guys!

Hi, My date and time keep changing randomly while im on the computer sometimes back to 1601, at first i thought it was my motherboard battery, so i replaced it. That didnt work and the time still changes while im on my computer. I preformed full scans with the following programs.

Symantec anti-virus

They found some things, but they were able to remove everything.

I changed my timezone back and forth. I tried disabling and renabling the automatic internet time through windows. And made sure the computer had the daylight savings patch from windows. Hi all!

I've got a rather weird issue going on. Several times now, I've jumped on my pc and noticed that my AV is "out of date" so I do an update and it still says it is out of date. So then I check the date/time in the task bar and it way off! just yesterday it said it was September 3, 2407! It has done this several times and it's starting to bother me... also, a utility for a game controller I have crashes at windows start-up along with Steam (sometimes). I don't know if these are related or not, but right now I just need to get the time/date fixed... I'm thinking of maybe reinstalling windows to rid of any viruses that AVG FREE isn't picking up....

Any ideas?

Well this is a blast from the past.  I have a Dell Dimension 9150 circa 2006, with 3 gigs DDR2 Ram, an Pentium D Dual core CPU, a 1 TB Western Digital HD and the original AMD/ATI RV620 LE [Radeon HD 3450] video card.  It's still running fine, but last week I noticed the date & time was wrong.  I figured perhaps maybe it was time to change the CR-2032 battery.  I mean after 10 years, the thing might have gone bad. ;)
So I put a new one in & re-set up the BIOS settings, and here's the rub, the time will still sort of keep changing.  By that I mean the Minutes & Seconds will usually always be right, but the Hour will change & also it will change from AM to PM & Visa-Versa.  But no other BIOS settings are affected.
This only happens when I'm in the BIOS.
I have Ubuntu-MATE 16.04 LTS on it, and the time/date are always correct, (I'm guessing because the clock is set to use an Internet Time server instead of the computers)
As this seems to be the only problem on a 10 year old Dell, is there anything to really worry about?  Everything else is working fine, just this one small thing in the BIOS that I hardly ever see anyway. ;)
One other thing, is there any Linux program I can download just in case a miracle happens & Dell releases a new chipset driver or BIOS update?  I did find this in the Ubuntu repository:

It could be either a dead CMOS battery or the time not set correctly in your BIOS settings. In addition, double check to make sure that you have the correct time zone and Daylight Savings set for your location.

Hello. For the last few months almost every time I turn on my computer it will double beep(instead of one beep) and once I get to my desktop the date will go back to January 1st, 2011. If this is not the right spot to put this then please move it.

A:Computer double beeping and changing date and time.

This is usually caused by a flat CMOS battery. This battery is used as a back up battery for keeping time & date etc. when the computer is shut down.
Firstly enter the BIOS & make a note of all the settings as they are now.
Turn off & disconnect the main power lead & then remove one of the panels you should be able to see this battery. In most cases it is 3 volt 2032 lithium battery.
Remove it carefully & leave it out for at least a minute & then fit the new battery. Replace the side panel, reconnect the power lead & power up, then enter the BIOS & reset the time & date & make sure all the settings are the same as they were before.

Hello,

I've encountered a minor problem with my computer that started happening a few weeks ago. The date and time kept reverting to weird dates years back, and always to early times like 3 AM. Of course I thought nothing of it, changing it back to the correct time while also running several virus scans, all of which came up clean. Within a day or two however, it would always change back to its own date and time. Only very recently did I search for a solution to this, which was to uncheck syncing to the windows website or some other. Didn't change a thing.

As well as this, I've experienced a more severe problem that first happened a week ago. Upon opening my browser I was greeted with the message that Firefox doesn't recognize the security certificate...of Google. I soon found out that it didn't recognize the security certificate of any website at all. Ran a Malwarebytes scan. Clean. Ran an Avast scan. Clean. Super Anti Spyware scan, removed all the offending cookies. Yet the problem persists. At one point my taskbar changed to a Windows Classic style, and I have no idea why. As you can see, I'm pretty sure I have some sort of stealthy virus, but I could be wrong.

True story: Users are either inadvertently or purposely changing the system's date & time on WinXP Prof desktops.

Not only do I want to prevent them from accessing the Date/Time applet, but I still want them to be able to log onto their domain which runs a system logon script that syncs time from the time servers. We have not yet converted to ADS (in the works) and I already know about the Local Security Policy setting. If I take away Power Users from the 'Change the System Time' setting, it doesnt allow the time sync with the server.

Another option I looked into, running the RUNAS command (with a admin account info) in the system logon script. Problem with that is that it prompts the user for a password during logon. No good! Even if I was able to include the admin account information in the script, the user might see the admin password because it is not encrypted.

Is there a way? Help me out TSG! Thanks in advanced.

My kids' computer with most recent McAfee A/V was infected with some trojans and malware. McAfee sporadically found and removed autorun.exe virus. My son went through some type of system recovery attempt (wiped out my last known good configurations). I found and removed ld08.exe. And downloaded and ran smitdefaultfix.exe which found and removed migicons.exe. In windows recovery mode, I removed a new and bogus driver name.

Now, it appears as if something is loading at Ntdetect.com time in the boot process, that replaces/hijacks the standard input. It appears to be forcing <Enter> to cancel disk checks, and disables the keyboard after I get to enter one character at the login splash screen. So, I can't login in safe or normal modes. The only thing I can get to (by fighting for the timing, so I type my characters before it gets an <Enter> in to cancel my windows recovery mode) is windows recovery. So, I can't run anything that requires the windows OS for troubleshooting/fixes.

Any assistance would be appreciated, as I am out of ideas.

Thanks in advance,
Stacey

I apologize for posting to the "general" forum here - even though my issue concerns gmail, it may have something to do with file handling in Windows 7, so I'm shooting for the broader audience in this forum.

How do I save an attached file from my gmail account, such that the date and time stamp, once saved to my local computer, remains the same as that of the original file?

That's how I just always assumed it was being done, and yet with gmail, the files are saved to my local computer with their save date/time, not the date/time of the actual file.

This is just wrong! If I send a file to 15 people, I want each recipient to have a saved file with the same date/time - not 15 different times based on when they saved them.

What am I missing, to force gmail/Windows to preserve the original file date and time stamp?

BTW, I posted this question to a gmail user forum, and the only answer I got so far is unhelpful, and likely wrong, gobbledygook.

A:Saving gmail file attachments without changing their date/time stamp?

Hi,
I doubt that can happen
At best there might be a universal Date Created or Date Taken on all of the files.
The camera it's self would enter that info "if" the time and date were correctly set on the device.

Hello,
I have a little peculiar annoyance with Windows 7. About a year ago I was into fps gaming and kept a close track of my reaction time using various online reaction testers: Human Benchmark - Reaction Time Test
Sound vs. Sight Reflexes
http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbo...n_version5.swf
etc.
I used to average 150ms, but after installing Windows 7 it rose by about 60ms if not more. Back then I tried looking for solution, but in the end just reinstalled my Windows XP. Fast forward to today and I just bought a new laptop, which came with Windows 7, and tried doing some tests again only to get atrocious 230ms. Obviously I couldn't have gotten so slow, so I checked on my desktop pc and I got an average 180. I am still using my several years old mouse, but I tried the tests using AutoHotkey script for mouse click, so I don't think it's a problem with my hardware. Furthermore it doesn't seem to have an effect in game (I have a few reaction drills, which I wouldn't be able to do with the extra ms). If anyone of you who have 2 systems with different operating systems could check or better yet provide their insight on this little problem I would really apreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

I have a Dell D610 laptop w/ XP Pro SP2... or had.

I have a corrupted registry entry hosing the keyboard input. The mouse works fine up until the point when I kit the first key on the keyboard when under the Graphical Windows interface. After I hit any key, the mouse freezes as well. This happens if I use the laptop keyboard or an external keyboard connected to a PS2 jack.

I have performed hours of troubleshooting and it is not the keyboard hardware. Keyboard input works during all non-graphical UI (BIOS, Recovery Console, etc.). I even removed the drive and plugged it in to another computer. I made a copy of the WINNT\system32\config files (sam, default, security, system, software) and replaced them w/ a copy of these files from WINNT\repair. The computer boots to Graphical Windows and I am able to type in this session just fine.

How can I "erase" the keyboard driver corruption in the registry (or perhaps a corrupted driver file or set of files)? The problem is that I can't boot the system to a point where I can edit the "corrupted" keyboard entries. I can't use the Recovery Console because I don't have the Administrator password. So I tried to install SP3 from a bootable CD. The minute it asks me to type in the Product Key (a graphical dialog box), input is frozen a the first keystroke (even a key like Caps Lock). Can I actually edit the registry that resides on the boot drive while it is connected to another computer? Any other suggest... Read more

Greetings, and thanks in advance for your help..

Awhile back I formatted my Windows 10 PCs to show ddd dd-mmm-yyyy on my taskbar clock. This worked happily on my desktop and laptop for months, maybe even a year +

Now (probably starting in the past couple days, if not today), on one of those two PC's, this format will no longer display. It is Okay on the other PC.
What has changed that the taskbar clock space used to expand to fit the "short date" format, but now it will no longer expand - and instead just refuses to display the date at all. (NOTE: I've verified the issue by testing shorter formats -- short formats, like "ddd" show up correctly. Only if you request a longer format will the date not display - evidently because it is too long for the clock area. )

Additional Notes that may help:

* "Working" pc is running build 10586 PC with too small a clock space that won't expand -- Build 14393

*Other differences: Notification/Action center Icon is left of clock on the working PC - Right of clock on the non-working
Right- Clicking on task bar gives "properties" option on working PC -- But "Settings" option on the non-working

( I don't want to prejudice responses - but clearly the implication to me is that some recent OS update is most likely the culprit.)

Thank You

Specs:

GPU: GeForce GTX 770
CPU: i5 760 @2.80 Ghz
Motherboard: Asus P7H55
RAM: 4GB
PSU: CoolerMaster GX-750W
Display: Acer v193w
Audio: Fatal1ty headphones, Hi-Cube speakers
Input devices: mid-range a4tech products

So, I had had gtx650Ti for some time until it started performing very poorly (natural death, in the name of technological progress I guess).
Along with obvious frame drops though, for some reason came input lag.
I upgraded to GTX770 relatively recently and the problem still exists, except it is worse now.
Since the problem started I have changed my hard drives too.
Suprisingly, after getting the new GPU, audio lag came into play to make the matters worse, or so I think it did (maybe I just didn't notice it before, but it is a bit unlikely).

What could be the problem?
I have cleaned my registry, only run essential programs and services, don't constantly use an antivirus, have the most recent GPU drivers with setting optimised purely for performance (along with disabled screen scaling), don't use mouse\peripherals softwares or enhancement options of my monitor...
HPET isn't available in my BIOS settings, by the way.
I have successully ran a lagless computer using the current display (got it directly after an CRT monitor a good few years ago, so I would feel the difference in resposiveness) before.

Any more suggestions?

I am looking to set up a macro or formula that basically inserts the current time when a cell is filled SO:

when a2:a100 is populated with any thing then the corresponding C cell will be populated with the time.

AND

when e2:e1000 is populated wiith anything then the corresponding D Cell will be populated.

Currently I am using this macro.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("A6:A100")) Is Nothing Then
With Target(1, 4)
.Value = Time
.EntireColumn.AutoFit
End With
End If
End Sub

which works great for the A and C cells

but it does not work for the other one.. how do i add and modify this so all my needs are met.
I need another 2 sets of 2 macros accross the sheet for time entry.

I have a Date/Time field that I need converted to just a Time field.

It comes back with 2/11/12 0:00:00

I need just the 2/11/12

I thought about changing it to a text field but I think there will be an issue with the month because it does not bring back a 0 in from the months with only 1 digit.

This table that I am creating is being sent to a txt file and that is where I see the issue. It looks good in Access, but not the txt file.

Any suggestions?

I am trying to make an input mask for a MS access Database that will display the "MM/DD/YYY" characters in the field when I click on the field. Is there also a way of having the cursor start on the first character so the user can just start typing in the date information without having to move to the first character?

Thank You

If I am in the wrong forum, please let me know.

About a month after I started using it, the Say the Time clock program I bought stopped launching the management menu when I right click the date/time field in the task tray (notification area).

Therefore, I can't use or edit the program.

Neither the touchpad nor the cordless mouse works.

Other than this problem, my computer works great. Every single item that's meant to be right clicked works for me.

Is there a way I can generate a log to show the software manufacturer (Provenio) that it's their problem and not mine?

I am a novice user but I can follow instructions.

However, I don't want to put my computer at risk if I make an entry error.

Or is it obvious that it's a software problem?

I've been using computers for 18 years and I've never had this problem until I bought this software and used it for about a month.

I just wanted a conclusive way of putting the ball back in the manufacturer's court.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Regards.

You can use VEW by Vino Rosso http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe
and save it to your desktop

Double click it to start it Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.

Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left

Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).

Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run
Once it finishes it will display a log file in notepad

Please copy and paste its entire contents into your next reply

Hello, I use online accounting software (KashFlow) and part of entering invoices involves clicking into a date input field.  It is one of those where a little calendar shows when you click into the field.  You can also manually type a date into this field too. However. On my brand new Yoga 920 using Chrome and Firefox the date input fields are greyed out and a red 'no access' icon shows when you hover over them.  But you can still click it and the calendar pops up as normal.  The only difference is you can NOT type into them anymore. When the source for the page is viewed it looks like the fields have been designated 'readonly'. There is no such problem on any other computer I own, even when using Chrome or Firefox.  The date fields work perfectly well on these other computers - even on a Sony Xperia tablet I own. The only browser that works properly on my Yoga is Edge.  The date fields work as they should.  It's just Chrome (my main browser) and Firefox where they don't work. This seems like a Lenovo-based problem.  A little Google has revealed a couple of similar problems with other Lenovo users. Does anyone have any clue on how to fix this?  This is utterly bizarre behaviour and it's preventing me from working properly. I have attached a photo showing the problem when using Chrome.  These fields should never be greyed out. Thanks,Matt

Has anybody else experienced this problem?

I open Event Viewer - "Admin View" to see what Errors/Warnings are there and in the column - Date and Time only the date is showing. Same goes for all the other views.
The "Time" element seems to have completely disappeared.

Any idea where its gone........... and more importantly, how to get it back?

Thanks

A:Time stamp missing from Date and Time column - Event Viewer

Problem solved - but - I don't know why.

Solution:- I changed the Date/Time format from UK to US, opened Event Viewer and it was as it should be. Date & Time showing.
I then changed format back to UK, opened Event Viewer and , as above, the Time was back up.

If anybody knows what had happened I would be most interested.

My thanks to Bill............. from another site for helping me out with this one.

I have a 4 year old computer that runs perfectly, except when I turn it off at night and then back on the next day, I loose a few hours on the time date at bottom of screen. I ajust each time I use it but the same thing happens each time I turn it off. Could it be the clock battery or ? My operating system is Windows XP Home
Thanks Lc

A:Windows XP time/date clock looses time after shut down.

Welcome to TSG...A bad CMOS battery will cause your machine to lose time. If the system is four years old, you're eligible for that issue...also, if the system has spent any lengthy amount of time (weeks or more) unplugged from AC power, it's more likely to happen.

Next reboot (after leaving it overnight), enter BIOS (setup) and see if the time there is slipping as well.

The battery itself (if that's what's bad) is cheap to replace...less than five bucks.

Please give us some specs on the hardware-make, model, etc.-and we can help you with battery replacement instructions.
