Blue Tooth issues? & Wireless networks dropped issues ?

Q: Blue Tooth issues? & Wireless networks dropped issues ?

Yoga X1 S/N xxxxx 17/09. Would like to disable the speakers and only have audio output to my Beats3 wireless ear buds. It does connect soemtimes and then will disconnect? Very annoying as when I am at the gym I do not want to spend time connecting and reconnecting my Beats 3 wireless ear buds.

Also, the unit I have seems to have trouble staying connected to public wirelss networks? Is this a problem / issue with the unit or a problem / issue with Bit defender?

Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all, I have quite a mystery.  I have a T460 1year old.  Everything was working fine until about 2 months ago.  My computer is used for business and is in my office.  One day my bluetooth mouse stopped working. My first response, new battery in the mouse and also tried another mouse.  No luck. Got in touch with lenovo support, they did remote view messing with drivers etc. No change. Then they put in a new wifi bluetooth card and then new motherboard no change. Here's the mystery, I took my computer home to do work, and the bluetooth mouse worked. The computer recognized and connected with the mouse. Went back to office, no go.  Computer will not pair and if it find the mouse to pair it usually doesn't connect.  If it does connect on rare occasion, it works for about 5 seconds, then disconnects.  In setting it seems that other bluetooth devices are being recognized but they are not mine. The latest suggestion from lenovo is to re-install windows 10.  I'm not an expert, but if it was windows, wouldn't it do the same thing at my home? It works there. I have heard that sometimes in office buildings there can be interference and issues.  If a re-install of windows 10 doesn't work, what can be done to solve this.  Most techs have been stumped.  Thanks

It is 15-e037cl model number. Not sure why you are upset with HP; your problems only started after you installed Windows 10 which HP did not make you do. Nevertheless it should work fine on your laptop.  The drop in internet speed when you run on battery is likely a power setting. When you shift to battery sometimes processor speed and other performance is slowed down to extend battery life. That can be overridden in the power settings.  The official specs on your model laptop do not list bluetooth: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03885347 It would help to see a screenshot of the device manager just to see if you have the right drivers installed. AMD computers in particular do not seem to do well on the generic drivers Windows 10 seems to want to install.

Hello,

I have a DELL Studio 1558 that I upgraded to Windows 8 64 bit. The Broadcom Driver that Windows 8 puts in place of the DW1520 Wireless N reduces downloading speeds considerably so at the behest of many a post here I installed the Win 7 Driver back. Problem is I have many devices on my network that I routinely access and sometimes the NetBIOS name fails and I have to refresh my WNIC by making a change then I can access the Network Device without it saying to me that 'the network location is invalid'. Otherwise I have to use the LAN IP of the network device. I can only assume that its a DW1520 problem with Windows 8 and Dell is not forthcoming with a new driver (anyone know why? are they infighting?).

The toggle I keep having to use is going into the adapter properties of the TCP/IPv4 Advanced Properties WINS configuration and going from Default to Enable and it works for a while but then loses it again. The Windows 7 devices on my network do not have this problem. It only seems to happen when connecting to PC's running Windows 7 and not NAS devices.

Any help is appreciated.

I presently have two PC's working via a wired router. I don't have a laptop nor do I want one. However I have a phone equipped for Blue Tooth that I would like to transfer photo's from into my PC without disturbing my present (non-wireless) router setup. Can I just install a PCI wireless card in my PC and using Blue Tooth technology transfer my photo's. Blue Tooth uses the same 11g protocol as network wireless so I'm wondering if this would work, it seems that it should.
Thanks anyone.

A:Wireless just for Blue Tooth.

Nope. You need a Bluetooth adapter, since 802.11b/g/n is NOT the same link level protocol. You can pick up Bluetooth USB adapters for $10 or so.

Hi,
I was on bed with my Dell xps 13 laptop and I accidentally dropped it on the side and it hit a solid surface. Afterwards, sound was unable to come out of the laptop. Despite this, when I plugged in my earphones, I can hear sounds from it perfectly. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the sound driver but the problem wasn't fixed.
The weird thing is, after leaving the laptop idle for a few hours, after I came back, the laptop sounds worked perfectly. I restarted the laptop to make sure it will work again, however, sound stopped coming out again. Does anyone know why? This is really strange and I want a method to troubleshoot this.
Thanks.

Hello,
So, I've got two separate, but somewhat related issues. One has been going on for a year and still hasn't been resolved (posted about it before) but I have some updated info, the other one is new.
AsHere I go ....

1. Can't Connect to the Internet
I all of a sudden could not connect to the internet. As my wireless isn't working currently, I used a wired connection. I am using that wired connection right now on my work computer that I am messaging from, so I know it isn't a modem/router issue. I have removed all the anti-spyware that I had and only installed Avast!, I re-installed all the drivers, and I contacted my internet provider. In troubleshooting with the internet provider, we tested the ping for www.google.com, which didn't work, but when we pinged the numerical ip address, it did. The same thing happened when I opened my browser. The representative said that the IP address was not being resolved by the DNS (is that correct)??? Anyways, that's where I am at - how do I resolve it so that the IP address is resolved?

2. First, for some extra background, please see the thread from a year ago that I had posted:
http://forums.techguy.org/networking/663585-wireless-issues.html
Here's what I posted initially before:
I have a Compaq Presario R3440CA with a Broadcom Wireless card. I used to be able to connect to my wireless just fine. Now when I try to 'Find network connections', the error comes up as follows:

Yesterday I dropped my month old Inspiron laptop from approx. 1 meter height to a concrete surface while it was turned on. So far, miraculously, no major problems are showing except that the screen has some yellow tinting on the upper right corner. I searched about it and apparently it now suffers from backlight bleeding due to the damage I'd caused. Can this be repaired or does the screen needs to be replaced? No cracks nor scratches, just the yellow tint.
Also, what about the hard drive? I don't hear any scratching or clicking sound as described in forums I visited. I've just noticed that the Dell logo takes a little longer to pop when I turn the laptop on but overall the laptop works fine. Applications respond fast like the usual.
Any advice on these?

A:Dropped my laptop. Help with backlight bleeding and potential hardware issues!

Please list your Dell model number and version of windows. Ex: Dell Inspiron 3543, windows 10
In the meantime, I'd suggest you run diagnostic tool to check hardware on the system. Please follow steps below.
1. Power off system. Remove all peripherals except AC adapter.
2. Power on system, quickly start tapping F12 key continuously until you see Preparing one time boot menu in the top right corner of the screen. In the boot menu, stroll down to Diagnostic and then click on it. After quick tests, click on hard drive, and then Thorough Test Mode. Report back any error code.

Hello, and thanks in advance for the help.

When I am at home, I automatically connect to my Wireless Network with no problems whatsoever. Last month, at a friends house, I tried to connect to his network, but couldnt unless I did it with a cord, and also in a couple of weeks ago at another place, it couldnt connect either as well. As said before, it connects fine to my network at home.

So, last week, I went on vacation (and of course brought my laptop with me ). On the hotel there were free Wi-Fi, but guess what, I couldnt connect to that either. The only solution I had was to ask my friend in the room to do:

Cmd.exe
Ipconfig
And then write it off, except changing the last number in the IP address a bit. Like a miracle, it worked.

So now I am at 2 stairways, both leading to Internet Heaven.
The first one being that I have to write IP Address, Gateway, Subnet and DNS server down for every place I visit, OR to some way configure it to do it automatically. As far as I know, it should be doing this automatically in the first place.

Thank you for your time
Like a miracle

If I am not writing back, I am probably sleeping, just came home from vacation.

I've been having problems with my wireless networking on my laptop but it only happens on certain networks. I have a Linksys router and my laptop works great on it. My friend has a similar Linksys router and most of the time my laptop won't connect to it. It starts to but shortly after says it can't connect to it. When it does connect, the internet is very slow. I set up my friends router and it is set up just like mine so there shouldn't be any issues with that. I've also disabled all firewall/antivirus programs on my laptop and tried connecting to the network and it does the same thing. I have issues with the wireless network at my school as well. I don't know what make of equipment they use but I will connect to their network and sometimes quite randomly after I have been connected for a while my computer will BSOD. Sometimes it will go days without doing it and sometimes it will do it multiple times within an hour. I've tried uninstalling the wireless adapter through the device manager and letting Windows reinstall it, I've tried updating the driver, and I've tried updating my BIOS. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

A:Networking issues only on certain networks

"similar" Linksys router... Please confirm:
1. SAME model of router
2. SAME level of firmware
3. SAME set up (wireless, security, firewall etc settings)
4. Your friend has no problems connecting wirelessly to his OWN router

Also, confirm that using your laptop at home with YOUR Linksys router is trouble-free ("works great" - does that mean NOP probs, or few probs...)

Does a wired connection to your friend's router work OK? If so, it's a wireless issue, but the questions above will allow for more focused troubleshooting.

Does your laptop ever BSOD away from school?

Cheers

Hi,

We have internet provided through the place we live for free. It is broadcasted as an unsecured wifi network. I can connect to the internet with no problems with my windows 7 computer. I recently got a windows 8 computer. I this computer has trouble staying connected to the unsecured network. It will connect for a few minutes then the limited connectivity will come up. Other times it says its connected has a full strength bar but the connection just spins and nothing loads. I have tried a few other forum suggestions with no luck. I have went to the settings and told the computer to not turn of the wifi to save battery which has not fixed the problem. I do not have access to the router and have not way to change anything with it. I have tried turning of the firewall turning of the windows defender to see it it was those programs but still have a connection problem. I am unsure what setting is keeping the connection from being stable with this computer.

Hello. This is my first post. Please be kind if I have not phrased my question(s) in the proper format.

I work in a University and we use DHCP w/ MAC filtering for resident hall students.

With Vista laptops, I've noticed that when we connect in the room, we connect to "Multiple Networks (Private)", though they are all using the same IP and the lease expiration is only a few seconds or minutes apart.

Lately when students unplug/replug their ethernet connection, a few strange things are happening.

1) An additional network is added to the list of "Multiple Networks" that I am now connected to, all with the same IP, etc... I can merge them all and eventually no more pop up.

2) They get dropped from our DHCP pool, losing their 129 IP and reverting back to a 10 IP as if they never applied for the resident hall internet service (once they apply, Symantec firewall is installed to make sure windows updates are on, and that SAV is updated, and of course to monitor any suspicious bandwidth activity) Then, we have to reapply them to get them back to a 129 IP.

3) They get an "IP Conflict" message, that another computer has the IP, even though we see NONE on our list.
The leases are for 5 days. I am curious as to whether these "Multiple Networks" are causing problems with the lease, for example, when Network 1 expires, Network 2, 3, etc. still have the IP address so Network 1 cannot renew. Maybe I'm wrong though.

This is very frus... Read more

I fell asleep while online using an unsecured network of unknown owner. I realized I was connected to a public wifi network for several hours.(which I had set up as "Public Network" and had Network discovery "Off" and files/printer sharing also "Off").

I feel I was freeloading with (?) impunity. My guilt was partly because my own network is secured ...and actually , am not sure why I protected it with such elaborate password.

Any possible ulterior motives by owners of these unsecured networks to let their property used by total strangers? I wonder about my own safety with this prolonged free internet connection. Is it even legal?

The question of legality is best answered in a forum filled with lawyers - even then, you might not get a solid answer.

Sure, some people open a wireless access point so that they can capture all/some of the internet traffic flowing thru it. The odds of you encountering such a person seems pretty small. It is a lot of work for very little return. Most likely, the person had the access point unsecured out of ignorance or altruism.

Okay, About three months ago, I got hacked HARD...permissions were changed, administrator rights were removed from my administrator accounts, etc. i was flabbergasted. THe iactually didn't bother me though until I ran a MBAM scan and found 133 viruses and spyware instances on my drive (NOT including tracking cookies!). I cleaned and recleaned, using MBAM, SuperantiSpyware, Avira, running each one in safe mode first, then loading into my normal account and running them, and finally erasing my user account and creating a new one. But even after the new user account was created with Administrator privileges, I still routinely received virus and Malware threat warnign flags from MBAM and Avira. Eventually, Avira and MBAM were disabled and Avira was "deleted" (Windows will not uninstall because the setup.exe file has been 'Changed" and won't reinstall it because I don't have "Administrator privileges" on my Administrator accounts!) even though at startup I receive an error message saying that Avira has been corrupted. The most telling issue is that antivirus and spyware/Malware scans come up clean on Safe mode scans, but using my normal account, the machine reboots. Using Superantispyware I notice that it's always during the memory test that this occurs (and in Safe Mode, it passes through this section with no issue). I have recently had a problem with my computer showing no wireless networks. There are other computers that can log on without a problem (obviously, one which I am using).

It is well noteworthy to mention that a few days ago there was an accidental download that initiated. Trendmicro caught it and says the last virus/malware found is: TROJ_DROPPER from C:\WINDOWS\system32\eventlog.dll.

(I thought trendmicro caught it, and Prevx cleaned my system, but it may be contributing to the problem or has done damage)

Since then, at school, I have noticed my computer was connected to the internet (I could still surf the web) but would say that it was NOT connected. When I went home, my computer would say it detected a wireless network, however, when I clicked on it it would say "no wireless network detected"

I tried a few things including:

1.Uninstalling the Network adaptor

Hi:
After an electrical storm I was given a combination modem router in place of a fried single function modem.

The office set up includes a new DSL Sagemcom [email protected] 1704 N combination modem router (with a new SSID WIN_6011), a wireless Brother MFC 8810DW printer and 3 other computers W8, W7, and Vista. In the office a perfect 5 bar signal comes from the new WIN_6011 SSID.

The new Sagemcom 1704 modem is wired to the old Linksys Cisco 610N router. The 3 remote WAPs are wired to the Cisco 610N router as they were previously.

In the area served by the remotely located WAPs, a much better signal (sometimes the only signal) Is received from the old previously used network SSID WW. The remote areas do not receive the WIN_6011 SSID well if at all.

The office laptops which are 10 feet from both devices receive sometimes 2 and sometimes 5 bar signals from the WW SID. They sometimes connect only with difficulty and frequently drop the WW SSID as opposed to the perfect signal from the WIN_6011 SSID.

The problem is that I am unable to program the printer with 2 networks simultaneously.
If I removed the Linksys Cisco router, and plug the wires of the WAPs into the combination device, what other configuration will be required.

Would this allow both areas to use the same network? WIN_6011?

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Why not just use the Linksys Cisco 610N as an ethernet switch only as follows? This would put all your devices on one network. If any are using a static IP you may have additional changes.

JohnWill's procedure (Aug. 30, 2008) for configuring a secondary router as a switch and, optionally, wireless access point follows.

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together.

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use... Read more

Do all bluetooth hardware items use the same frequency? My bluetooth mouthpiece used for voice recognition software from Dragon turns my cap lock key off. Does anyone know a way around this? I tried a newer Logitech wireless keyboard to no avail.

Hi Guys

I am tryin to install a blue tooth reciever for my mobile phone.

I have used this reciever\sender before when i was running xp home and all worked fine. Now i am running xp pro it wont work it installs all the drivers but wont recognise it as being plugged into the usb port. I have changed my usb ports and tried it in all the ports.

This is very similar to the problems i was having with the usb tv reciever (Which still dont work)

Does anyone have any ideas?

Could it have anything to do with my usb wintv problem???

Thanx

Hello everyone!  While visiting my brother in law I was having an issue with my hp folio i3. I don't even remember now what it was but about two weeks after receiving it back and after I was no longer visinging my brother in law who lives no where near me, I discovered my bluetooth was no longer operating. I discovered it when I went o use a bluetooth speaker I have and it would not work. The computer no longer even recognized it nor would it recognize it.  I can't even find where the settings are that turn it off or on.  I went to the start and tried to find the bluetooth options for turning it on and off but to no avail.  The wireless on and off on the key board shows that it is on.  I can find where it say's it is working properly but yet it clearly isn't.  So I have an hp folio i3 with windows 7 and all drivers seem to be up to date and working properly but I can't use any bluetooth devices.  Can any one help please

new computor does it all ready have blue tooth software installed i can not get my speaker to work

A:blue tooth

Hi: You can't get the BT speaker to work because according to the product specs for your notebook below, it does not come with built in bluetooth networking. http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-15-ba000-Notebook-PC-series/10862317/model/13386205/document/... If it did, that feature would have been listed along with the 802.11b/g/n (1x1) wireless connectivity specification.

I have a non-wireless printer and a very small usb blue tooth adapter on my acer 5250. now how can I make my printer wireless? thank you

A:blue tooth help please

What is the make and model of the printer? What would a USB Bluetooth adapter have to do with it? Do you think your printer supports Bluetooth connections? It would have to be pretty close to the computer, and I'm not aware of any printers that support a Bluetooth connection.

You could buy a print server or a router that supports a USB printer connection and printer sharing over the network.

Hi, my lab top didn't have a bluetooth adapter.  Per suggestion from an advisor who also provided me a part number, I bought an adapter and isntalled it.   My computer recognized the adaptor and all the drivers are up to date.  However, when searching or being discoverable by other bluetooth devices, neither happens.  I have tried uninstalling, disabiling, etc and reinstalling, ....  have not been able to fix the problem.  I am running windows 10 by the way.  Any ideas what I should try next? Thanks.

A:finding blue tooth

Hi: The model wireless card that was recommended by the other forum member does not work on W8, W8.1 or W10. You need a more modern Ralink wireless card with BT 4.0, which will not work in your notebook because it has a BIOS whitelist. I doubt any of the wlan cards with Bluetooth  listed in the service manual for your model will work on W10.  They are too old. If you have to have bluetooth for your notebook, your only option would be to purchase an external usb bluetooth adapter such as this one. https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTD-400-Bluetooth-4-0-USB/dp/B007Q45EF4

I have a mikom blue tooth dongle model no BD-01 but have lost disk ,and cannot download a driver

grateful for any help.

A:blue tooth driver

Mikomi appears to use BlueSoleil drivers and application which is not free. You can download their trial version here : http://www.bluesoleil.com/Besides all bluetooth dongles can use generic Microsoft drivers in Windows Vista and 7. If Windows fails to install its own driver for your dongle, then you can force install the driver using Bluetooth driver installer.

i recently bought an alienware lap top and did not chose the blue tooth option and am regreting it. is it possable to add it in now? what will i need to buy? and is there a guide on how to do it?

A:Installing Blue Tooth into a lap top

You can use a USB bluetooth adapter.
If you want bluetooth audio also, you will want to stay away
from those cheap,99 cent adapters and get one that is at
least edr 2.1 and hopefully broadcomm based as they keep
their drivers up to date.
This should work fine and the price is right.......

I am using "DRAGON NATURALLY SPEAKING 10" voice recognition software with a Plantonics Blue tooth wireless headset. The headset is turning off my cap lock key. I want it to stay on as I mostly enter numeric info. Plantonics says "can't be, never heard of this". Nuance basically says same. There is no question when I turn off the Dragon software the caps lock stays on. when it is running I can watch the cap lock turn itself off.
Any ideas

A:Cap lock and blue tooth

Blue Tooth uses a frequency-hopping spread spectrum, which chops up the data being sent and transmits chunks of it on up to 79 bands of 1 MHz width in the range 2402-2480 MHz. If your keyboard is in that range, it could be affected.
