Q: How to turn off touch screen on Qosmio DX730?

I want to use colour calibrators such as colourmunki for my graphics work. These need me to place something on the screen.

How do I turn off the touch screen temporarily whilst I do this?

Thanks for any help

Preferred Solution: How to turn off touch screen on Qosmio DX730?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: How to turn off touch screen on Qosmio DX730?

Did you find out how to do that?
I think it?s not possible to disable the touch screen.
Did not find any info in user manual?. Maybe you can check the available BIOS settings. Power up the unit and press F2 to access the BIOS.
But to be honest I doubt that an on/off option would be available there.

My wife's parents purchased a Toshiba Qosmio DX730 (PQQ11A model). They recently upgraded to Windows 8 and the touch screen now does not work.

The problem is missing drivers (the monitor driver is reporting as a Generic PnP Monitor).

I went to the Toshiba site and selected the driver downloads for the appropriate model and installed a number of drivers, including the recommended NVidia display drivers. There are no drivers on that site that seem to install support for the Toshiba touch screen monitor.

Are there no Windows 8 drivers available for this model? If not, is there another solution? If so, where can I find them. Any help very much appreciated as they have a nice computer and purchased Windows 8 so they could use it with the touch features.

A:Qosmio DX730 and Win8 - touch screen does not work

On the Toshiba EU driver page you can find the Win 8 drivers.
As far as I know you need to install the Toshiba display driver to get the touch function working properly.

I found this driver.
Please check if you can install this:

my screen is not working. I can see that the computer is fine as I can get it to briefly flash into view when I switch the AV input mode, but then the screen just blanks out. I have tried rebooting a number of times, turning off completely, but nothing seems to work.

Any idea on how to fix this?

A:Qosmio DX730 - Screen is not working

If your computer works properly in connection with external screen, then the problem could be related to the internal display panel? maybe it?s faulty? I said ?maybe? because to find the malfunction, the hardware must be checked by service engineer.

However, from my point of few it could be a display panel issue and this can be fixed only by part replacement.

We bought a new Qosmio DX730-10K, but it's touchscreen seems not to be working properly.

There is an elliptic area in the center of the screen (about 10 centimeters diameter) which is "dead".
In that area no touch is being sensed at all.

any help would be nice
greetings from germany

A:Qosmio DX730-10K: not full screen area is touchable

As far as I know its full touchable screen?
The optical touch screen has retro tapes on the left, right and bottom side of the screen.
The retro tapes are for identifying the point you touch by calculating the reflections of lights from the upper bezel.
You should keep the lcd bezel and retro tapes clean. Otherwise the touchscreen may not functions properly.

I've just upgraded to Win 10 and can no longer play DVDs.

'This PC' shows the drive as 'DVD RW Drive(E' under name, but it just says CD drive under type. Does this mean it thinks it's now only a CD drive?

When I put a DVD in the drive double click the E drive (it does not autoplay), the drive opens and I get the message "Insert a disc - please insert a disc into drive E:"

Device manager recognises the drive and says it is working and drivers are up to date.

How can I fix this to get my DVD player working?

I don?t know what you want to do with the DX730 display but I don?t think that you could mount this on the wall.
According to some pictures which I could find in the net, there is no holder which would allow you to mount the monitor on the wall?.

Accidently pull out headphones port has pulled away now there is no sound on the desktop at all now, it is not a driver issue.

My question is I would imagine the sound is on board and not a mini card can anyone confirm this . As barring that it would be an expensive repair as there seems to be no other options as to getting sound

Regards Iam

A:No sound on Toshiba all in one Qosmio DX730

To be honest I didn?t understand what happened exactly. Is headphones jack still in the port and you cannot remove it or what?

Check please this similar thread.

I cannot say if the repair would be expensive. If the headphones jack is defective now it must be replaced.
I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service provider, explain the situation and ask for help.

I recently purchased a Qosmio DX730 and the wireless mouse behaves erratically. It jumps about the screen and is just about manageable for basic use but practically useless for any detail work such as graphics manipulation. This isn't related to any particular program, happens with all software and windows desktop. Things I have tried but it doesn't solve the problem;
1. changed the batteries and resync'd
2. talked with toshiba helpline, uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled
3. searched for updated drivers (none)
4. tool wireless keyboard, mouse and transceiver back to shop and exchanged - still go the problem
The wireless keyboard works fine

I was wondering if I was getting some wireless interference but have turned off all other electric and electronic devices in the local area = no difference. I am reluctant to just give up and go to a plug in mouse because it is brand new. Any help appreciated.

A:Erratic mouse behaviour on Qosmio DX730

in the events of a faulty hardware it is always a good idea to see if the hardware behaves in the same erratic way on a different computer. so i would advise you to do this - if it's still erratic, theres nothing wrong with your software setup or hardware in your computer like the USB ports and most likely its a fault in the mouse itself

if its not erratic, we can get cracking on your problem =]

Hope someone can help with this.

've had the DX730 PC for about 8 months now, and I recall that initially when the PC powered up there would briefly appear a message saying to press 'F2' to enter BIOS configuration.
But lately that does not happen and I don't know why.

Pressing F2 brings up the Windows Startup Menu instead of the BIOS configuration.
Is there some way to restore the original startup functionality?

I have a Toshiba Qosmio Dx730.
I am not using the supplied wireless keyboard, but a standard D+ll wired keyboard as I prefer the keyboard layout.

However the keyboard indicator for the virtual keyboard is malfunctioning, and appears in the bottom left of the screen randomly (regardless of whether I hit caps lock or not).

It has now begun to randomly switch Caps Lock on and off, for no apparent reason.

Can I switch the keyboard indicator off somehow?
I never use the virtual keyboard, so I would be happy for that to be turned off as well.

Thanks for any assistance!

A:Qosmio Dx730 - virtual keyboard indicator issue

The virtual keyboard indicator (icons) in the lower right corner of the screen appears because the provided WiFi keyboard does not support the indicators for NUM LOCK, CAPS LOCK and SCROLL LOCK. Therefore the ?virtual? indicators appears to shows the status of mentioned buttons.

You can turn the icons ON/OFF by clicking the Toshiba keyboard indicator in the notification area on the task bar.

Hi Toshiba Support,

My QOSMIO DX730-10Q has just been upgraded to Windows 10. I recently bought an LG LED monitor and tried to connect it to the HDMI (this is the first time I?m using the HDMI port since I bought the computer awhile back) and it?s not working.

Whenever the LED is connected on HDMI, it says ?Checking signal? then ?HDMI No Signal?. When I tried disconnecting it from QOSMIO, the LED says ?Please check your connection? ? so this means it?s able to detect that it is connected earlier, only that it?s unable to receive any from the computer.

I bought a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter, hoping to isolate the problem. I noticed that it has a USB 3.0 driver (from the system), but since I?ve not used this too before, I don?t know whether it?s working at all. The computer has 6 USB ports.

I tried all of them, still not working.

Could you advise?

Would appreciate your immediate response (or from anyone who encountered the same issue!), thank you.

I've got a z20t-B-107. Lovely machine, upgraded to win 10, all working fine - I had to download a new Wacom driver to get the 'left-click' to work with the pen.

I'm using it in tablet mode to digitise some data points on a map, and to sketch with the pen. However, when I rest my hand on the screen it 'activates' the touch screen and makes things go crazy. I really need to be able to temporarily switch off the touch digitiser and have only the Wacom digitiser running, and if I can toggle it on/off somehow that would be useful. Otherwise i need to use the pen in a very unnatural position to avoid touching the screen with my hand.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note which uses the Wacom type digitiser - it doesn't seem to suffer from this, as soon as it detects the pen near the screen it appear to switch off the touch part.

I would be grateful for any help - I've tried search engines but they only seem to give results about touch pads, and that's completely different...

Many thanks in advance

A:Portege Z20t - can I turn touch screen OFF?

I use a Z20t too (but with Win8.1) and have the same problem. I have decided to switch off the touch complete. It is not a good solution, but a good working with OneNote is only with switching off the touch functionality possible.
Maybe this is a possible solution for you.
In Win8.1 I switched off the driver in the device manager.

I found the following steps here:

1. Right-click and select "All Apps" at the lower right corner, then select Control Panel
2. Select Hardware and Sound
3. Select Device Manager
4. Select Human Interface Devices
5. From the list, look for the driver for the touch screen. This can be tricky since on my tablet they are all listed as "USB Input Device" and there are 3 of them. I found it by disabling and re-enabling one at a time until the touch screen stopped responding. You can also identify the touch screen by checking the Properties | Details and get the "Hardware Ids" then do a search online to see what the device is. In my case, the touch screen has the ID USB/VID_0EEF&PID_7302.
6. Once you know which is the touch screen, disable the driver and the touch screen should no longer work
Enable this device to make the touch screen work again.

My laptop has developed a strange habit of the Touch Pad changing its behaviour. It will randomly change from acting normally (finger movement moves the pointer and taps acts as clicks) to the pointer only moving if the right key is held down - and then only sometimes, and the left and right keys open menus etc. I've reloaded the driver, but it still sometimes dows it. Is there a setting somewhere that I've accidentally changed that I don't know about? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks for reading.

Dear Toshiba Forum Members,

I am writing this new thread because I experience serious problems with my Qosmio X770-107.

I bought it in 2014 from a famous electronics store here in Greece.
The first problem was the little duration of the battery. It was lasting for an hour when surfing on the internet and for about 10-30 minutes when playing games. I changed the settings lots of times but nothing changed.
Then I went to the store again where they found a problem on the battery and they changed it.

However the same was happening. Then I changed the battery 2 more times as well as the laptop and the charging cable during the year. At the third model I had the same problem. After a month I was experiencing some problems with blue screens and the fn keys were not working.
I formatted it and the problem with the blue screens was fixed.

Today I am still having the same laptop and the fn keys are not working. I have tried to reinstall the drivers but nothing changed. Additionally, the touch button for the keyboard lights is not working and when I touch it the sound is muted.

My question is if someone had the same problems or similar to those I have and if I can do something to change this model with another or receive my money back.

Here I have to refer that I have sent emails lots of times to Toshiba but they did not answer.
I have also sent my laptops to the official Toshiba service in Greece but they did not solve my problems.

Please answer as soon as possible

A:Qosmio X770-107 - FN and touch key issue

I formatted it and the problem with the blue screens was fixed.

Mostly the BSOD issues are related to software problems… MS updates as well as conflict between different applications can cause the BSOD… therefore its always advisable to recover the unit back to factory settings to get rid of system conflicts.

Today I am still having the same laptop and the fn keys are not working. I have tried to reinstall the drivers but nothing changed. Additionally, the touch button for the keyboard lights is not working and when I touch it the sound is muted.

I guess you are still using the Windows 7 system.
As I mentioned, due to the updates, it could happen that the system registry and FN key utility would be muddled up…

The FN keys are controlled by Toshiba Value Added Package as well as the Flash Cards Support Utility
Therefore I recommend you to uninstall both tools. Then to reboot the notebook. Then to clean the registry (you can use CCleaner Utility). After that, reboot the notebook once again and then start with the installation of Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility

Furthermore I recommend you to check this interesting Toshiba document which explains all the software preinstalled on different Toshiba notebooks:

You may also check the Toshiba Assist Utility… and Toshiba button support which allows you to configure the touch buttons̷... Read more

A:Qosmio F60 - USB ports & touch keys are not working

Do you have the latest firmware on the SSD?

Have you installed all the drivers and software listed on the Toshiba website? Make sure you install the Intel Chipset utility first, then TVAP second.

Also make sure you have Win7 Service Pack 1 before installing drivers, and update the BIOS to the latest revision.

If you still can't get it working, you can order the Recovery Discs from Toshiba and install the factory image on the SSD so everything works properly.

Hi There,

My F60 won't turn on.

I have tried switching power supply cords, tested wall outlets - they were ok, but still no power.
I tried taking out the battery and using only AC power - still no power.

I tried holding down power button for 30 seconds without AC power and then reconnecting AC power - still no luck.

I have had the laptop for almost 4 years with no problems till now.

Can you please suggest any other options?

You could try to replace the memory modules just to check if it would help you to bring the Qosmio back to life?
Memory modules are not expensive parts and therefore I think its worth to check RAM modules. Otherwise I?m afraid there is an serious hardware problem for example motherboard malfunction or CPU issue.

In case of motherboard problem you will have to spend lot of money to get it fixed and I guess it?s not worth to spend around 300? to fix an 4 years old notebook.

I am using a Qosmio F750 laptop (PQF75A-02Y00Q).

The previous OS installed on the computer was Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I then upgraded the OS to Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

As expected this change would cause some problems to appear. The thing that's really bugging me right now is that the touch sensitive keys at the top right of the keyboard aren't functioning as intended.

The keys still respond if you touch them but they don't do anything on screen; mostly. When I touch the Volume Up/Volume Down keys, they work as intended. However, the Mute key, the Play/Pause key, the Wifi On/Off key, and the eco Mode key (as well as the toshiba bulletin board key) don't do anything.

Curiously, when I manually turn on eco mode from the power settings the eco mode key still turns green.

My ultimate question is, how do I fix this so that ALL of the keys work as intended?

I noticed that the webcam facial recognition was doing funny things as well but all that needed to be done was recalibrate the setup for that to make it work again.
All of the FN key functions curiously work as well.

As an addition to the bolded question, are there any other drivers I should install to improve/restore functionality to my laptop? Like the ones from the Windows 8 page?

I bought a brand new Toshiba DX735-D3660 All In One from the States and got it sent to Australia, it arrived last night and I went to turn it on but it simply comes up with "PC" then "No Signal".

I have the Power Cord connected to an adapter as it says the input can handle up to 240V (AUS Output level). I had a tech guy come look at it today and he tested the Volts and they came up as 19V and then dropped out, he said the solution was to go and buy a new AC Adapter.

I did, and it still hasn't solved the problem.
The new AC Adapter has an output of 19V and a max of 7.5A, so it should be fine.

It is still coming up with "PC" then "No Signal", the power light is amber then flashes white once turned on then goes back to amber. There is no sound coming from the computer so it doesn't appear to be starting at all.

Any solutions would be great!

A:Qosmio DX735-D3660 won't turn on

Usually the AC adaptors are made for international usage, mean that the same AC adaptor should work world wide. The power input is mostly 100-240V
In some cases you will need a adapter to plug the power cord into the wall socket but this depends on the country or region?

In your case it does not seems to be an AC adaptor issue since the power light flashes.
Possibly the hardware is affected? so I think an technician should check this? you could also call the dealer to get an replacement.

Good luck

I have a hp pavilion touchsmart 15-n029so. Unfortunately my touch screen is defect, so 5-6 points on the screen is constant active. Until recently I managed to disable the driver for only the touch driver (not the screen) through device manager, but then a lately update for windows 10 activated the driver again. So now the 5-6 points is constant active, and I cannot login because the screen will not focus on the login field.  This means I cannot login to windows 10. I have also tried to start safe mode (turning off computer repeatly, so it starts up in safe mode), but here the touch screen driver is also active.  How can I disable the touch screen driver without login into windows 10?

My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

My Ideapad S415 touch screen has suddenly stopped working.  I've had a tech connect to my PC and try a BIOS reload of default settings, plus unistalling all "HID" devices in Device Manager with no resolution.  I've also tried a system restore with no luck. The system properties does see the touch capability. Suggestions? Thanks.

hi Hersh,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
First do a Power Drain
     (If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.
