How do you make a hack to make the print spooler start in safe mode

Q: How do you make a hack to make the print spooler start in safe mode

Hi. I just want to know if there is a hack that will make the print spooler start in safe mode. I'm using Windows Vista 64 bit. If there is no hack currently, could someone tell me of an easy way to create one? I know there was one for xp, but it didn't work for Windows Vista. Thanks.

Preferred Solution: How do you make a hack to make the print spooler start in safe mode

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The link to the safe mode hack for xp is this: http://www.theeldergeek.com/forum/in...dpost&p=267002, but it doesn't work for Vista. Could someone tell me how to modify this for Vista? I would have modified my original post to include this info, but a message came up saying that I couldn't edit my post after the first 15 minutes of posting it. That didn't make any sense to me since I've been on forums where you could edit your post at any time. Could an admin fix that please? Thanks.

First off, I'm using an extremely ancient Optiplex 755 while waiting to get enough money to fix another computer of mine. I accidentally get some adware, and I was told to boot to safe mode. This was a mistake. Now it goes through the booting process, but when I should be at my login it's just black. Seeing on Google, this seems to be a common problem, but my backups are very out of date and I have no idea to work this old piece of junk. Somebody help!

A:Safe Mode won't make Windows start

See this post. I doubt you have SecureBoot on this computer so no need to worry about that. Editing the registry offline to put it back into normal mode may work but I can't promise anything. Good Luck

My HDD has gotten to the point where I'm only able to run in Safe Mode, which oddly shows no signs of any issues. I need to print some emails but when I go to Add a Printer I get a message that the local print spooler is not running and I have no idea how to start it in Vista. Thanks for any help.

A:Solved: Enabling Print Spooler in Safe Mode

Just minimal drivers are loaded when in Safe mode as the reason for being here is to try and find out why your not able to load normally. So, with that said, this is the reason you are unable to use your printer.

In my office we have a laptop machine that is pretty screwed up, and will only boot up using Safe Mode. I needed to uninstall several programs from the machine before installing them on a new machine, due to having limited seats for the software. I have uninstalled everything except Adobe Acrobat X Standard.

When I try to uninstall it, it cannot complete the process because the Print Spooler service isn't running. When I go to Services and try to start it, I get an Error 1084: This service cannot be started in Safe Mode.

So what the heck am I supposed to do to uninstall this thing, so that Adobe will know that license is free to install on the other machine? I have searched the net for hours and tried several registry edits related to printing and print spoolers, but to no avail. There are currently no printers installed on the machine, not even the Adobe PDF printer.

I have no clue what's wrong with the machine when booting into normal mode. I usually get a blue screen immediately after the Starting Windows logo if I try to boot into normal mode. We're probably going to junk this thing or maybe reformat after this, but I just need to get this blasted Adobe software off of there first.

A:Can't uninstall Adobe Acrobat X in Safe Mode - no Print Spooler

Hello there.

If you're planning to use the licence on another machine, you don't need to uninstall the program, just go to the program (in this case, Adobe Acrobat X) follow these steps:

Deactivate on one computer before using your software on another

Before trying to activate on a different computer, deactivate on the computer on which you last used the product.
Important: Uninstalling your product on one computer does not deactivate it on that computer. Explicitly deactivate by following these directions.
Make sure that you are connected to the Internet. In Creative Suite 4 and 5, choose Help > Deactivate. In Creative Suite 5, deactivate on virtual machines after you finish working on them.
In Creative Suite 3, choose Help > Deactivate to start the Deactivation wizard. When you finish, select Erase My Serial Number From This Computer.
If you uninstalled your software without deactivating, reinstall on the old computer and deactivate. If your old computer is not available, contact Adobe Support.

I created a system of clearing the print spooler in a W7 standard user account. It consists of a file I found on the internet "Clear Print Spooler.bat" and a shortcut "Clrear Print Spooler" that I put into the desktop of a standard users account. the text of the batch file is as follows:

[email protected] off
echo Purging the print queue . . .
net stop Spooler
echo Deleting all print jobs . . .
ping localhost -n 4 > nul
del /q %SystemRoot%\system32\spool\printers\*.*
net start Spooler
echo Done!
ping localhost -n 4 > nul -------

the shortcut has admin privilege by selecting Properties.......Advanced and putting a check in "run as admin".
This works fine if in the admin account. But put it into a "standard users" account and the UAC is displayed and the user must input the Admin PW. This is the action I would like to get rid of, ie: the UAC and PW.

A:Can't make the "Clear Print Spooler" work right

you probably would have to go into the assign user rights area in administrative tools to give the standard user the rights to the print spooler.

My video card fan was replaced and the fellow at the store told me I now need to reinstall Windows XP Pro. When I turn the PC on it goes to the red COMPAQ but then the screen shuts off. I can get into safe mode so can I copy all my stuff from there and if so how do I do this. Also, if someone could tell me step by step how to reinstall Windows. Thanks so much...I need my PC back.

A:Can I make copies in safe mode?

Why re-install windows?

It sounds like you have a driver issue most probably the graphics card

If you can get into safe mode, then I would suggest that you remove the graphics card driver and reboot. Hopefully, Windows should find the graphics card and install the necessary driver for you

trying to reinstall my printer , when istall screen comes up a box comes on and states
dont know how to get PRINT SPOOLER STARTED. I go to ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS,then to services, click on PRINT SPOOLER WHEN I CLICK START ERROR BOX comes on and states PRINT SUBSYSTEM is unavalible. SO how do i get PRINT SPOOLER to start? Printer was installed on my computer before and i followed same instructions but it wont let me install it now. PLEASE HELP

A:print spooler will not start/ print subsystem is unavalible

Welcome to TSG...What make and model is your machine? Which version and service pack is your Windows O/S? Make and model of the printer might be helpful as well.

Go to services again-double click the spooler service, click the 'dependencies' tab, and see if there are other services besides RPC which your print spooler requires. Some lexmark printers, for instance, require that a service called Lexbccs (not sure about the spelling) must also be running for the spooler service to start.

(Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, HP LaserJet CP1215)

When printing from Word (or any other normal application) the documents just sit in the print queue with Status = "Error - Printing".

If I stop, then re-start the Print Spooler service, they then print.

Strangely enough, this does not happen if I print from the HP printer diagnostic utility.

I've done complete re-install of the entire printer driver suite and I'm pretty sure everything that end is OK. So what's happening with the spooler? The error message isn't exactly very revealing .

Any help gratefully accepted!

My printers have vanished from the control panel.
I have been everywhere and tried every fix I could find.
I have restarted the print spooler a zillion times and it goes out as I am looking at it.

I did download the above Fixit Wizard.
It scans and shows corrupted drivers and registry keys.
They want $39. for it.
I don't understand why I would need a yearly subscription for it, if it fixes the problem.
It looks something like a scam to me.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Since nothing seems to work, do I really have to take it to a computer shop to have it fixed, or does anyone have
some further suggestions.

A:Is Print Spooler Fixit Wizard safe?

I would NOT use the program listed. Most so called registry repair programs do more damage than good.

Try to install the printer software for your specific printer. (not listed in your statement)

When I open the Nvidia Control Panel by double-clicking in Windows Control Panel, something called Spooler Subsystem App tries to connect to the internet (spoolsv.exe is the program) and it is added to the ZA Program Control. I've blocked it every time, but I'm wondering what the deal is...

I've been told it has something to do with a printer over on the ZA board (though I don't have one connected to my laptop yet), but I don't see the connection between Nvidia control panel and a printer...? So I wanted to get a second opinion...

This IP info is from the Entry Detail in ZA (there was no Desination IP listed in the log itself, except for first one below, that had two entries for "New Program" in the log and actually listed that Destination IP as Port 53). DNS (This shows as Google.) DNS (This shows as American Registry for Internet Numbers.) DNS (This shows as Xeex.)

I never allowed access and all attempts were blocked (as far as I know).

So to sum up, I double click Nvidia control panel, spooler subsystem app (spoolsv.exe) tries to connect to the internet, and I block it.

Any idea what's going on here and if I need to be concerned about this?

Spent about 10 hours trying to resolve a network printing problem on a laptop today and now I am asking for your help. The HP laptop stopped printing with the message "Print Spooler is not running". I tried starting it at services.msc but it will not start. I tried uninstalling the printer from add/remove and could only remove the printer applications but the driver will not uninstall because the print spooler is not running. I tried reinstalling the printer but it will not because the spooler is not running. I tried installing a different printer with the same failure. Microsoft FixIt identified the spooler as not running, tried to start it and it failed immediately. FixIt said it could not help. I checked windows update and it is up to date. Printers work with 4 other pc's on the network. OS: Win 7 Pro

Treat it as if there are jobs in the print queue that can't be deleted. As I recall you delete the subdirectory in the Spooler directory used for that specific printer.

I am unable to reinstall my printer or print anything.

A:Cannot start print spooler

Which operating system you use ?
The very first step you should do is a check disk scan and system file check to fix damaged OS files.
To run check disk enter "CHKDSK C: /R" in command prompt. You will be prompted to run the check during the next boot so restart the system and let check disk finish the scan.
After that open command prompt again and enter "SFC /SCANNOW" to initialize a system file check. You may be required to insert the installation CD if you are running XP.
If the above step didn't help you we may need to analyze your OS components and running services using third party  tools.

Do this....

Then it will open another window telling you that changes have been made blah blah blah...check the 'don't show...' etc box.

Try this:

3. Start > Start Search > C:\Windows\System32\spoolsv.exe (Right click > Properties)

4. Click on Security Tab > Advanced > Owner. Take ownership of the file and give full permission to the file. Once done, close everything and try to start the service again.

5. Start > Start Search > cmd (Run as Admin using right-click)

6. del /Q C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* > Press Enter

7. Once done, try to start the spooler in Services

I'm trying to install Adobe Acrobat Pro and it's need to run print spooler service. I'm getting a message "Windows could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer. Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified" and "Check that you have administrator

I've checked folder c:\windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ and there is nothing.  I have also check in registry in HKEY_L_M\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\spooler for any additional dependences; there is no any.

First create a Restore Point.
Then open regedit and navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Spooler
registry key and right-click Spooler > New > Expandable String Value > then name the value
ImagePath then double-click ImagePath and type (or copy and paste) the following under "Value data":
Then press "OK"
Close regedit and see if you can start the Print Spooler service.

I've searched everywhere and I can find nothing that actually helps.

The problem: The print spooler won't start when my computer comes on or when I try to start it from the services window. I get an error 1053 which says it didn't respond in a "timely fashion."
Steps I have taken (none worked):

1. I reset my computer.
2. I opened Run and did "sfc /scannow" which scanned but nothing seemed to happen.
3. I booted from my XP Installation CD and chose to repair windows (it had recognized that it was damaged). The repair was successful and fixed a few of my other problems but no print spooler.
4. I made sure lexbces worked and ran properly (even thought it wasn't listed as a dependent).
5. I removed all traces of lexbces.
6. I made sure RPC was working.
7. I ran the Microsoft Fixit program for the printer spooler. On light mode it processed but changed nothing. On full mode it "failed to process."
None of these helped at all. The spooler still will not start and I get the exact same error. I can't install my printer and I can't even frigging SCAN (all I actually want to do, I never print) Because photoshop won't make a TWAIN for my printer and when I select WIA Support it says that no WIA devices are connected.

Hi, new to the forum. At work we have just gotten 4 new laptops that have Windows 7 Professional. One of our users had a Vista laptop that always had the print spooler stop when he tried to print. I had to go into the services and start the print spooler again. When trying to print a second time the message would pop up again to state that the Print spooler had stopped. I hoped that the Print Spooler issue with Vista would be cured in Windows 7. Well, sort of. With the 4 new Windows 7 laptops that I have setup onto our domain I notice that the Print Spooler takes about 2-3 minutes to start. We have a print server in our domain and all the shared printers will not show up in the OS until the Print Spooler service starts up. I checked the dependencies of the Print Spooler Service and it is the Remote Procedure Call. That service does not seem to be an issue. When I try to print to a network printer it takes a long time to print. I check the printer queue and I see two files; the doc and a file called Local Downlevel Document. I try printing an hour later again and I can print with no issues. Then I will try to print again the Print Spooler service will stop and I will have to restart it. I searched the net and I see tons of hits for Windows 7 Print Spooler issues and I have tried a lot of fixes but I still have issues. I even installed a Win 7 driver for two of the printers, one local (LJ5) and one networked and the local printer never has an issue! Possibly it is a domain is... Read more

Hi there.

I have a brand new Vista machine that I set up last night.

I have been trying to access a printer over the network but I kept on getting a "spooler subsystem app stopped working and was closed." message when I tried to add it.

I found that for some reason, the Print Spooler in services doesn't seem to start with Windows.

If I start it myself, I can add the printer and print to it no problems.

Is there any way I can make it start itself? Its set to Automatic.

A:Print Spooler doesn't start with Vista

If the process is set to Automatic startup it usually means it'll start up on its own. Obvious, I know, but the only thing I can think of that may or may not be causing the problem is your anti-virus/firewall software (if you have any). Check the settings and then restart, and see if the same thing happens.

Post back here if you still have problems. Hope this helps.

Hello, I am trying to install my new Canon Pixma MP 330 printer, and cannot install its software because of this error:
"Processing cannot be continued because the Print Spooler Service has been stopped."

It told me to restart so I restarted, which did not start the Print Spooler. I went to manage services and tried to start the Print Spooler, where it gave me "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."

I looked up its properties, where I found that it is set to Automatic. The Print Spooler depends on Remote Procedure Call (RPC), and hpdj00 depends on the Print Spooler.

HP deskjet 5700 series was my old printer. I already uninstalled all of the HP Deskjet and Officejet software using its uninstallers, and I force uninstalled it all again using RevoProUninstaller. After the uninstalling and restarting, I still cannot start the Print Spooler, and continue to see the hpdj00 dependency and Error 2.
I can think of two possible explanations:
1. In uninstalling the HP printer software and deleting the leftover folders, I accidentally deleted a Print Spooler file that I need. Everything can be reinstalled from the HP CD or restored from the recycle bin, so this should be reversible.
2. Some piece of HP printer software is STILL on my computer, disabling the Print Spooler.
I have an HP Pavillion a1101n, Windows XP Home SP3.

The HP printer programs I uninstalled are: HP PSC & OfficeJet 4.7

After having some neices and nephews on my computer over ThanksgivingI have had major problems. My printer icons are gone from the print folder. My recycle bin contents got deleted. My 'My Documents' file was renamed to ++. I have been unable to install a printer, turn back on WMI, no print spooler shows up in Services, can't find dependencies, error messages, etc. It is a mess! I have tried a bunch of suggestions I found in Microsoft Knowlege fixes to no avail. I seem to have different problems than what these fixes address, especially with no print spooler even listed in Services and being unable to start WMI at all. This is my hijack this log. I hope someone can find something here that I can do to fix these problems without me having to do a reinstall of windows. I have a lot of software without installation CD's that I would hate to lose!Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 9:38:55 PM, on 12/7/2006Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\brsvc01a.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\brss01a.exeC:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgamsvr.exeC:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG... Arrrrrgh! New HP/Compaq Presario V6000 Notebook came loaded with Vista Home Premium. Once desktop opens, the dreaded message appears: "Spooler Subsystem App has stopped working." Tech support at HP/Compaq has not been able to start the Spooler & keep it started. When it is Off, no printer drivers can be downloaded (either from the Net, from a disc or from Vista's library of printer drivers. Bottom line: this computer cannot be hooked up to a printer. Arrrrrgh!

Something that might be a clue: NONE of the Services current Start-Stop; Manual/ Automatic/Disabled, setting can be changed. More accurately, when changes are attempted within Properties the attempt fails, either immediately or within a few seconds. In the case of starting the Printer Spooler, a small window opens saying that Windows is attempting to turn on the service and the bar begins to fill with green...but after a second or two, the bar stops filling and the window closes.

After not being able to solve the problem, HP's idea is to do a Recovery. Which I'd rather not. So, has anyone else encountered this problem and been able to come up with a fix? Arrrrrgh!

A:Printer Spooler Won't Start: Print Drivers Won't Install

Sounds like an errant setting within Windows itself. Short of changing every setting on the system, a System Restore will probably be the easiest fix available.

This just started happening this week out of nowhere.

Print Spooler will not start. I cannot start it manually. Hamachi (specfically LogMeIn Hamachi Tunneling Engine) service gives the same error. I haven't had any problems with any other services. Upon trying to start the two manually, I get the error 1503 "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.".

I've tried the following:
- System restore to a date I believe the spooler worked
- sfc /scannow (and in safe mode)
- Chkdsk (Auto fix errors)
- Windows Repair utility
- sc config spooler depend= RPCSS
- Bruce's Printing Pages (+ reinstalling printer)
- spoolsv.exe and .exe.mui are in their correct locations. Tried renaming .exe to .bak and the .exe.mui to .exe
- RPC services are running
- DCOM Server Process Launcher is running
- Tried cleanspl.exe but it refuses to work on NT 6.1
- Troubleshooted printer. Finds spooler service isn't running. Fails to start it

With Hamachi, I ended up reinstalling it then adding in a registry key as found on their help topic over the matter. Just so much easier using this to play Sven Coop and Synergy Coop (Half-Life1/2 mods).

The spooler, once it turned back on normally...I think that was after my first attempt with "sc config ...". Anyhow though, it's never sticking and staying on after a restart and further use.

Classes just started up for me, so I'm desperate to fix this now since its bothering me to no end, and I need my print... Read more

Try clearing out the Printer spooler folder,
Sometimes a corrupt print job can crash the print spooler services indefinitely, until it is manually cleared. Even though your printer may show 0 Print Jobs in queue
Hers how to:
Make sure the print spooler servies is stopped.
Click the start button, (bottom Left) Copy and paste the path below into the search programs and files bar,

This should open your spooler print jobs, If any files are showing in there, please delete them,
Then you will need to re-start the print spooler service:
Click on the Circle start button, This time, in the "search programs and files box"

Type: services.msc

Locate the printer spooler services - Right click it, and select Start.

Hello. I have a home computer(eMachine) with a printer/fax(Lexmark). What exactly would I need to be able to print from my laptop(acer)? Thanks for your time.

A:Trying to find out what I need to make my laptop print wireless

What do you have?

If both of these machines are connected to the Internet through a wireless broadband router, you have all the hardware you need, just some configuration required now.

How about the make/model of the modem and router, as well as the version and patch level of Windows on each machine?

This TCP/IP Home Networking and File Sharing Tutorial should get you started.

I have recently changed my browser from Chrome to Edge. With Chrome I had a Gmail Notifier icon showing when I opened my mail program. From this I had an option to have a sound play when incoming emails arrived. (Options/Notifications/Default Sound Notification/User Defined Sound/Browse) and then I could choose my sound. With Edge, I cannot see a Gmail Notifier and as a result am unable to set a choice of sound to notify me of new mail. I have downloaded Gmail Notifier but can't find a way around my problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys i am getting wireles so that i can use the internet at the same time on 2 computers.

My question is how can i make it safe?

Also can i use any wireles card with any wireles setup???

Thanxs Baltan

A:How do i make wireles safe?

If you're going to use a router, which I think you are, you have to make sure both the card and router have the same letter, ie. 802.11G is the most used today, I think.

You can use MAC Adress filtering and WAC encryption, you can hide your SSID, so nobody can see your network name.

That's all I know. All of the above options can be found in the router setup, which you can acces by typing in the routers IP adress in your browser.

Try this extension, it works pretty well on a lot of pages, and it will remember pages that don't want it to run on. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/high-contrast/djcfdncoelnlbldjfhinnjlhdjlikmph?utm_source=...
