Preferred Solution: Tecra M2 BSOD.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

I have my Tecra since 2007. I bought it with win XP. Until to the middle of 2011 OS works OK but later no.

When I turned up the computer, it starts and when the desktop was up and running, I just started with the touchpad or USB mouse on any item on the desktop but could not close it anymore. I could only using the keyboard and select logoff windows to n blue screen to log in again.

From that moment on I could turn on and off each application or component on the desktop.
The problem associated with Windows XP.

Unfortunately, after replacing the windows 7 32 bit with an earlier disk formatting problem remained.

Now, do not turn off your computer only toggle into hibernation. Each full shutdown ends the same, and I have to log out and log. Both the USB mouse and touch pad work the same way. It makes no difference whether the mouse is connected or not.

Hi

It looks like hardware problem.
I came to this conclusion because the new OS installation (Win 7) did not help to solve this problem.
So I think you are agree with me.

What hardware part might be affected?
Well, I think some common parts like HDD or RAM should be tested.
How?

Well, the HDD could be tested using some freeware tools like Drive Fitness Test.

The software RAM tests are not really helpful and I think notebook should be tested using new good working modules.
But of course it?s just an assumption from my side?

If you don?t want to spent money for new RAM modules only to check if its ok or not, visit an technician who could do that for you.

A friend entrusted me with her Toshiba Tecra A2 (1.75GHz, 489MB RAM, 40GB HD, XP Pro SP1), which was suffering from the usual middle-age-terminally-slow-operating system problems, caused by badly clogged registry etc...I ensured her that I wouldn't break it, or at least wouldn't make it any worse, and she would be ?30 better off than taking it to a tech shop for them to look at.

So I did the following, standard stuff, all of which worked fine.

*Disk clean-up (from C:\ properties)
*msconfig to remove unnecessary startup programs
*Full scan disk
*full defrag
*hooked up online to run liveupdate for Norton AV
*ran a standard, basic registry cleansing program
*whilst online ran several passes of windows update, with several reboots all without error.

It then took all afternoon installing SP2, and upon reboot, it went through the usual XP-style sky blue boot screens I expected post-SP installation i.e. "please wait.............................."

then seemed to crash, reboot, and displayed the blue screen of death, and this message:

The session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x000026c. (0x00000000 0x0000000).

I have since tried all other boot options (safe mode, last known good settings, etc) to no avail. I can't get into windows at all (otherwise I would just remove the SP and try again).

Tecra S11 BSOD after trying to install BIOS v3.1

I have just reinstalled fingerprint utility successfully. After that I tried to install new BIOS v3.1 but I got BSOD

Where can i find minidump file to see what is the problem?

C/windows/minidump folder is empty.

A:Tecra S11 BSOD after trying to install BIOS v3.1

Hi

Do you get the BSOD during the BIOS update procedure?
Do you use the Toshiba preinstalled Windows OS? or did you install your own system?

If you installed your own system, then you should check that VAP is installed as well.

Furthermore I found this info regarding the BIOS update:

+Caution !+

+Please close all applications before executing the update.+

+At the end of this process, the computer will be rebooted in order to update the EC.+
+While updating the EC, the screen may not be displayed and the power LED etc may blink.+
+The computer may reboot several times. This is no abnormal behaviour.+
+Please wait until the computer is fully rebooted.+

BSOD appears due to serious system problems or hardware malfunction.

I think first of all you should recover the notebook to factory settings.
If this doesn’t help, the single parts must be checked.

I’m thinking about RAM memory modules.
This is an essential part and should be checked firstly.

And sometimes my system just freezes.

Has anybody help?

A:Tecra 9000 - BSOD after display driver installation

Hi

BSOD is a result of serious software issue or hardware malfunction.
You said this BSOD appears after installation of graphic card driver.

First of all; did you install the right graphic driver?
Secondly; did you install the Win XP patches?

The Toshiba driver page provides some Win XP drivers for this notebook model?
The drivers are placed in Archive area because this notebook is an oldie?
Should check it?

If the BSOD will still appear after Windows XP update and after right driver installation then a hardware issue could be the reason for this issue?
By hardware malfunction I mean the graphic chip issue or memory module issue?.

Hi,

I own a Tecra R850 with the ATI HD 6450M, and every now and again it hangs and BSOD appears.
I've observed that mainly it happens when reproducing flash videos.
After checking System Events I've discovered it's a problem with the display card driver.

The event system says that may be a solution [here|http://wer.microsoft.com/Responses/Response.aspx/21682/en/5.1.2600.0.00000000.9.9?SGD=13feb1cd-4c8b-4c3a-aeee-ca4ca2c99729]

This webpage indicates that it is a bug in the driver and I must upgrade to the latest driver to solve de problem, and it provides a link to ATI webpage.

I've downloaded the drivers from ATI webpage and the installation program says that it is not compatible with Toshiba laptops.
I've checked Toshiba webpage and I already have the latest (and unique) driver for my display card.

As it appears on the webpage it's a driver bug, but Toshiba seems not to have released any update in the driver despite Ati has...

Any one can help?

Thanks,
Jose.

A:Tecra R850 - Display driver problem - BSOD

Hi Jose

Do you use original Toshiba preinstalled Windows or your own version?
Original display driver included in original recovery image is tested so you should not have some troubles with basic stuff like playing flash videos.

Since when have you noticed this issue? Can you give us one example when this happen?
Have you installed some updates?

My faithful 8100 (W2K sp4) has developed an irritating fault. If you press Fn-F5 (Display control), the system promptly crashes.

However, it looks like Stop 0x00000050 (0xF000FF54) Page fault in non-paged area.

Now I have no idea whay this has started. In case it was software I re-imaged the boot partition back to a stable image from 12 months ago but it makes no difference.

Its something to do with windows for sure. If I press Fn-F5 before the Windows has loaded there is no problem.

I'll try it in safe mode tomorrow to see if that helps but if anyone has any experience of something similar I'd love to hear it.

Thanks for any info

A:Tecra 8100 W2K: Fn+F5 produces Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)

The bad thing about those Blue Screens is, besides they are really annoying, that their error messages are just good for nothing. Never found out what Windows wants to tell me with this ;)

At the moment it is a bit hard to say what this has caused, but you could try to install new display drivers. They can be found at the Support & Downloads section.
So, safe mode seems to be a good idea for testing, because most of the drivers are not loaded, including the graphic card one's.

Perhaps this helps.

A:Can I use Tecra A10 OS disk to install OS on Tecra M10?

At first I must say that Toshiba recovery image is created for each notebook model separately and it is 100% created to work on specific model. Why?
Every notebook model has different hardware platform and all drivers, tools and utilities for certain model are part of recovery image. These recovery images are also tested.

Generally speaking if both models have identical hardware platform (hardware parts) it can be used.

Ian

A:Difference between Tecra A10 and Tecra M10

Of course the both notebooks are different.
There are different Tecra A10 models and there are different Tecra M10 units.

For example:
Tecra *A10-13B* supports an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2,26 GHz CPU and Intel GM45 chipset.

Tecra *A10-1D2* supports an Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.80Ghz CPU and Intel GM45 chipset

You can find details about different discontinued notebook models here:
http://www.toshiba.eu/discontinued-products/
Then you can compare all the hardware parts.

Generally speaking it should not be a big problem to use an SSD instead of an common HDD.
The notebook supports the SATA interface and you have to use an 2.5? SATA SSD drive.

Hi,

I'm trying one of this popular caddy's that allows me to put a second hard drive in the optical slot bay, I use a Sata to Sata adapter, so there is not really an adapter besides connecting properly:

[http://www.akasa.co.uk/update.php?tpl=product/product.detail.tpl&no=181&type=Enclosures&type_sub =2.5%20Enclosure&model=AK-OA2SSA-BK]

My problem is with Toshiba BIOS that is expecting a ODD device in that Sata port and cames out with a "CD-ROM error", disabling the Sata port.

I have a workaround, if I start the PC, after BIOS post with anything in ODD bay, after starting Windows, I insert the second HDD in the ODD bay, go to "Windows Device Manager" do a "Check for hardware changes" and voil?, the second HDD is working fine, to me this proves a BIOS limitation.

Is there any help, a Beta BIOS or something else, I have the last BIOS 3.00 for this machine installed.

Hello,

we are encountering unusual problems with one of our Tecra devices.

Background info:

(The Laptop is used mostly in docked mode).

Occasionaly the screen won't turn on (laptop aswell as ext. monitor) while the laptop is used in dock-mode when the system is powered on by the user.

The user is also facing this issue, when the device is used outside the dock (eg. presentations) and reputting it into the docking station.

As said, the issues arrive occasionaly and we can't spot the problem.

Things I've already did:

- Update BIOS/UEFI to newest version
- Check multiple BIOS/ Windows settings e.g. Power-Settings -> disabled most of them that could cause this weird behavior
- Checked display drivers (Intel) and updatet them to the newest (no beta drivers)

The solution now exists of powering off the device via hard reset (pressing the power button for multiple settings), restarting the system and then putting it back into the docking station.

As you can imagine, this problem is very frustrating to us when the user has worked on something important and hasn't saved his progress before leaving meetings, because he knew he will be at his office, putting his device back in, but nothing happens and we have to hard reset it.

I appreciate any kind of help.

Best regards,

Ok, I though similar issues with Win XP on other notebooks with new HD audio from Realtek.
The point is that you need SP2 and SP3!

The SP2 and SP3 provides important fixes and patches for HD audio?
So first of all uninstall the installed Realtek audio driver.
Then install the SP2 and SP3.
Then go to the device manager and delete the devices marked with yellow exclamation mark.
Then reboot the notebook.
Now Win XP should found a new audio device and should ask for the driver.
No you should install the sound driver from Realtek.
Reboot once again? and now the sound should works fine?

Got a Tecra M1 refusing to power up since few days.

The M1 has 3 led to indicate: (a) the AC power is connected (b) the power is on (c) the battery is available / charging.
Each of these can be green or amber.

The symptoms are the following:
- with AC adapter and batteries plugged, (a) and (c) are green
- when powering the laptop, the leb (b) is turing green for a fraction of a second; then start blinking amber with more or less 1 second frequency. Got a intermediate beep on speaker with the same frequency.
- display is bank. Not even bios is displayed.

I tried already the following:
1) remove AC and battery, wait a while, plug both and restart. Same issue
2) remove battery, boot on AC. Same issue.
3) remove AC, boot on battery. Same issue.

Any idea ?
Does anyone know the meaning of having this "power-o" led blinking amber.

Unfortunatley that?s everything what you can do if your notebook doesn?t start. At the moment it looks like a serious hardware malfunction and the mainboard or CPU could be affected.

>"Perhaps someone knows if that particular "sequence" of flashing is listed as meaning any particular problem lease.

Knowing that you can read the blinking code using the following procedure:

The short blinking means 0 and long means 1.
The code might be something like 0001 0001

Error code starts with LSB (least significant bit) therefore the error code has to be read starting with last bit. This means that the code: 0001 0001 would appear as 1000 1000
This code you have to transform in HEX and you will get the error code.

But in my opinion even if you would know what cause this problem, mostly it?s some motherboard malfunction (maybe also a part connected to motherboard like RAM module) and this means that the whole part needs to be replaced.

Have read many posts and tried what was suggested. I pulled the 2 memory modules and cleaned the contacts with an eraser. I inserted only one of the modules at a time, switching slots etc. and then powered it up each time. Once with only 1 module installed, I got the WINDOWS XP startup screen (with the moving bar below) and then the Toshiba Splash screen appeared and then the screen went blank again. Seems like the hard drive starts up and then stops. The DVD drive seems to respond with a low clicking sound. I hear a couple chirps/clicks from the hardware but no beeps whatsoever.

I'm guessing bad RAM. I will try with some new RAM later when I get some.

Since I did get the machine to sort of startup once, am I safe to assume the BIOS and Motherboard are okay ?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hello,

i have a question regarding the Ampere usage of the HDD and SSD.
MyvToshiba HDD uses 5V and 800mA. The SSD i want to use takes 5V and 1,6A. Thats double the Ampere used by the HDD.
Will there be problems with the powersupply?

A:Tecra S11-11P switch from HDD to SSD

> Will there be problems with the powersupply?
Why?
In worst case the battery working time would be a little bit shorter due to higher SSD drive power consumption but there should not be a bigger issue?

I am trying to rebuild a Tecra M3 Model PTM30A-1DD002 for a friend. I have installed Windows XP Professional but each time I try to install a service pack it seems to hang.

I have tried SP1 & SP3 and each time it starts off gets about a minute in and then just sits and does nothing. I left the machine on for a couple of hours and it just doesn't do anything. On SP1 it says it is "backing up files" and SP3 says "Checking Product Code".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

A:Cannot install SP3 on a Tecra M3

As far as I know Tecra M3 is delivered with WXP SP2 Professional so for WXP installation use Microsoft WXP installations disc with already integrated SP2 or SP3.

Do you have original Toshiba installations disc?

Hi,

my TECRA A10-1HG PTSB1E does'nt recognize my second HDD who has taken the place of the cd-rom.
i'm using a SATA caddy, and the A10 boot with a CD-rom Error !!!
is it not possible to use a caddy with one TECRA A10?
Anybody have a solution ?

Thanks for your experience return.
Best regards

A:Tecra A10 does'nt recognize 2nd HDD in ODD bay

Hi

I assume the Tecra A10 does not support such upgrade.
The 2nd SATA controller does not seem to support the additional HDD instead of ODD.

But I read about some tricks to get such2nd HDD recognized.
You need to boot the notebook without the HDD caddy in the ODD bay.
After the Windows system has booted up, you could plug/connect the HDD caddy and the PnP system service should recognize the new device.

I think its not the best solution but it looks like it?s the only solution to get such HDD caddy recognized in ODD bay

My TECRA A7 has a 100GB HD and I wonder if I can replace it for a larger one.
Is it possible and what should I do?

Thanks for any help

A:HDD upgrade on Tecra A7

Hello

Your Tecra has SATA HDD connector so it should not be problematic to use HDD with higher capacity.
I don?t know which one you want to use but HDD between 200 and 300 GB should be good enough for upgrade.

What do you think about that?

How much memory can i fit in a Tecra M10-1CN and should it be in two 200 Pin SO DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz modules

A:How much memory can i fit in a Tecra M10-1CN?

Hi

The memory expand possibility depends on the chipset of the motherboard
The Tecra M10 supports the Mobile Intel(R) GM45 Express chipset? and this chipset supports max DDR2 800MHz 8GB RAM

So first of all you can use 2 x 4GB RAM modules and secondly the memory speed is limited to 800MHZ.

Even if you would use faster modules i.e. 1033Mhz the FSB would clock down the speed to 800Mhz? so it?s not worth to use faster modules than DDR2 800Mhz

Hi all,

This is a problem I have been facing for about one month.
I've already asked help to the Microsoft support and I manage to circumstance the problem, unfortunately without being able to solve it.
The problem is the following:

Every time I plug an external hard drive via USB I am asked to format it before using it. This of course I do not want to do. This problem appeared all of a sudden, before everything was working perfectly.

My external hard drives work perfectly in other enclosures namely other laptops.

Additionally, if I reboot Windows 7 in the "safe mode" I can connect the external hard drives via USB without problems. It appears it is something I've got recently which is conflicting to my external hard drives.

Could it be any Toshiba update? Do you have any idea about things I could try to locate the problem?

I thank you in advance.
Cheers
Andrea

A:Tecra M10 USB need formatting before use

Hi Andrea

Do you have Toshiba external Hdd or Toshiba laptop? I ask this because you ask for Toshiba update.

We have recently purchased 4 new m10 laptops with the intel graphics

We wanted to have dual monitors using a port replicator but it has come to our attention that the intel graphics is unable to display DVI

We were wondering if there was any way around this issue? Without having to buy a new laptop.

For example is it possible at all to upgrade the graphics card?

Thanks

A:Tecra M10 - how to display DVI?

Generally speaking graphic card upgrade on notebooks is not supported and I think not possible. http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

Back to your problem:
In user?s manuals is written
As the port operation of all DVI (Digital Visual interface) monitors has not been confirmed, some DVI monitors may not function properly.

Page 86.

Have you tested it with different monitors? I mean from different manufacturers?

Does any one see any problems swapping out the 160GB HDD for a 1TB HDD i have already partitioned/formatted and installed XP PRO on the 1 TB HDD in my Satellite M-105 and it is working fine in there but would prefer it in the faster newer TECRA Laptop.

Thanks

A:Tecra M10 - HDD upgrade

Hi

I think this should not be a big problem since the SATA controller should handle the 1TB HDD.

You can test it using the HDD from the M105? the replacement is not difficult and both units M105 and M10 supports the same SATA HDD.

I need to (re)format my laptop, I have a Tecra M11-103 with Windows 7 pro 64bit. I received it with only an WXP downgrade CD but no Windows 7 installation CD.

Laptop no longer under warranty. How do I reformat? It seems like I used to have a nero backup software as it came bundled with laptop a long time (and a format under warranty) ago...

Is it possible to get nero again?
Thanks

A:How to reinstall my Tecra M11-103?

Hi

According notebook specification your Tecra was delivered with preinstalled WIN7 64BIT PROFESSIONAL and you got additional WXP DVD. Original Win7 recovery image was saved on HDD and using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator you have had possibility to back-up recovery image and create bootable recovery installation disc.
How it works is described in user?s manuals document.

I don?t know if you have created this disc but now after WXP installation you need this recovery disc. Of course, if you want to have ?factory settings?, you need this disc. Other way, you can obtain Microsoft installation disc and install Win7. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can find and download from Toshiba download page.

I hope you understand the situation but if you have more questions you are welcome.

I just bought a Tecra A50-a-1DJ .
The 256GB disk (SSD) looks like formatted :
1,46gb : recovery partition ;
217,47gb : disk C :;
8gb : partition for hibernation ;
11,54gb : primary partition .
I would like divide the C: drive space so that it becomes:
C: 100,47gb
D: 100gb
F: 17gb
I tried it with the built-in Windows (disk management) that with Paragon Partition Magic :
The answer is always that I can't create more than 4 partitions .
As a workaround?

MiniTool partition wizard may work

Hello, good morning, first of all I wanted to thank you for the help and attention you could offer me. my question is this, I would like to know if there is a laptop model; Toshiba Tecra A11-16Q. I throw this question because a friend has found this computer and was looking for information about it, it seems that it does not turn on, my friend opened it and could see that it had no RAM, and maybe this is why it did not turn on, but I wanted to see what kind of RAM requires to see if you can get some at a low price and thus be able to test if you turn on without having to make an outlay of money at all. Could you offer me some manual or the specifications of the technical characteristics ?. thank you.

and to forgive for my mistakes in the language, I do not speak much English and I use a translator to understand and give me to understand, and may not be very correct in their work.

with kind regards

A:Which RAM can I use for Tecra 8000

Hi

The Tecra 8000 is an oldie and therefore it needs RAM modules which are not more used in most notebook models.
As far as I know you need the 144-Pin PC100 SODIMM module.

The part number of 128MB is PA3005U

Hey all,

I have a Tecra S11 which was updraded to Win 10. I want to revert it to out of the box state, with new HDD.
I managed to make a recovery USB flash with the Toshiba software (it was the only option, no DVD option).
Now when I boot from the USB and select the recovery wizard, it asks to insert the recovery media 1.

Do I have a solution to recover it using the USB flash?

Thanks in advance for your help!
