I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

You will have to take a look at the device manager and get the drivers off the manufacture . Asus doesn't have drivers for the laptop on windows 7

I have a brand new (no data) Asus Sonic Master S550CM laptop with a 1TB hd and 6GB Ram. It came preinstalled with Windows 8. The laptop is going to be used by a senior and Windows 8 is just too complicated for her. Originally I was planning on getting rid of Windows 8 and installing Windows 7, but I'm starting to think a dual boot might be the better idea. I've spent several hours looking for info on drivers and whether it's feasible to dual boot but I'm not getting very satisfactory information. Asus.com doesn't seem to offer any information either. So, I'm posting my first thread to a forum - ever - if I've posted this in the wrong area my apologies.

The hd has two partitions: OS (C) 372.6GB and Data (D) 537.6GB. I'm thinking that I should shrink (C) to 186GB and rename it (E)? and install Windows 7 on (E) leaving Data (D) to be accessed from both Windows 7 and Windows 8?

I have just enough tech skill to get myself in trouble on these complicated projects. I have dual booted computers before (Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP) but not a laptop.

My questions are:
Has anyone successfully done this?
Are there other "things" I should do (ie I read that I should turn off fast start-up)?
I also read I should disable secure boot in the bios, but the bios won't let me select secure boot to disable it.
Which Windows 7 should I install, the current O/S is Windows 8 64-bit?
Will the touch screen still function in Windows 7?
Can I make Windows 7 the "default... Read more

Hey,
I have Asus S550CM vivobook. It has 750GB HDD and 24GB SSD. Due to voltage fluctuations my on board msata port was fried. But by removing the SSD, the laptop works. But now it uses HDD for cache memory and hence my HDD usage is 100%. This makes my laptop to hang and work slow. But the HDD had about 300GB free. Please suggest me how to make it right.
Thanks in Advance for helping.

I have an Asus S550 CM laptop and i have been facing strange issue with the laptop ,While working on laptop it turns off exactly after 30 minutes as if power cord is unpluggedi have tried various solutions like replacing the thermal paste , removed hard disk , running on battery. Even if i run the laptop in bios it will run only for 30 minutes. After the laptop has turned off and the very next moment when i switch it own it will again run for 30 mins .

so far unable to figure out what is causing the laptop to behave in such a manner if any one can put some light on it would be a great help.

Hello,

I am new to this forum, so please bear with me if I ask some noob questions.

I have a problem with my ASUS Vivobook S550CM. It takes to boot for a very long time (literally more than 5 minutes). But once I get inside windows 10 (I just upgraded last year) everything seems to be close to normal or a little laggy but still useable.

details:

Asus laptop comes with core i5, 6GB RAM, 2gb Nvidia dedicated graphics, 750GB HDD + 24GB SSD cache (Kingston SMSM150S3/24G)

I was able to diagnose and come to conclude that the problem lies in the 24GB SSD cache. When I tried to recover it back to Win 8 (original pre-installed OS) it can no longer see the recovery partition. Upon checking with utility software (belarc) I found out that the 24gb SSD cache disk already FAILED under SMART.

So i believe this is the culprit and immediately i searched online for 24GB SSD Kingston replacement and only found a used working item on ebay Kingston 24 GB SSD Laptop Solid State Drive SMSM150S3 24g | eBay

Now, my question is. When i get the item from ebay and install it on my ASUS laptop, Do i need to do something with the replacement 24GB SSD or i just swap it directly with the old defective SSD (by the way they have exactly the same brand and model).

Please advice as i have no idea on what to do.. I read somewhere that there has to be a set-up for IRST and etc... but i have little knowledge about it.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Ray

Hello -

I have an ASUS All-In-One PC.  Windows 8.1 64 Bit Operating System.

My computer for the past couple of weeks has not allowed me to download anything.  It is not downloading automatic updates and when I manually try to download any new programs or software it will not let me.  I believe I'm infected because I tried to download Malware Bytes from your site and got an error message that the files were corrupt.

I have Panda Free Anti-Virus installed on my PC as well as Super Anti-Spyware.  Super Anti-Spyware has not been allowed to be updated in 53 days.  When I manually try to ask it to update - it fails.  So I believe I have an infection.

Please let me know if you need any more information and of what I need to do next.  Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hello everyone!
Next week i'm getting new pc with this motherboard Asus P6T SE with i7 920 processor. Asus didn't yet release drivers for Windows 7, that's why i'm wondering if Windows 7 RC 1 will work.

Should I try to install drivers that I got on cd with motherboard or what? And if they won't work? What do I do then?
I heard something about running the installation in Windows Vista compatibility. Can someone explain a bit please? Will it then work if I do that?

I'm really looking forward to have this Windows installed so help is really appreciated.

Hi and welcome to sevenforums

Wait till you get the computer. See what is installed. If its vista maybe even play with it for a week or so. Vista and win 7 are similar ( like a ford fusion and a mustang). Once you get the hang of it come back and ask by then the Windows 7 RTM will be out and if you are going to install win 7 thats what you want. It comes out around July 13.

In the mean time ask questions the more you know when you get it the better

have fun ask q's

Hi, I got my ASUS ROG G751 Series G751JT-CH71 Gaming Laptop 2 weeks back and the 1 TB 7200 RPM Rotational HDD had bad sectors in it. I have given it for replacement and it was impossible to make recovery disks. I just bought a Corsair Force Series? LX 512GB SATA 3 6Gb/s SSD and using it as the C Drive.
From what I have researched, I need a Windows 8.1 Core Single Language 64 Bit which I can install using generic keys from Microsoft and then activate it using the Windows Key in the BIOS of the system (I have retrieved the key as well).
I installed Windows 8.1 Pro in the above manner but the key that I have in my ROG did not work. The system said that I cannot use this key for this version of windows.
I have not been able to find an OEM ISO yet.
Can someone please tell me:

Which version of Window should I be looking for that will accept my key when I try to activate it?Where do I download this version of Windows?
Thanks,
DAN

the embedded key is for core 8/8.1 you have to install core software..

use the bold blue link in my sig below and get windows 8.1 core software and it will read the bios embedded key.. no need for key tricks..

core for core key - pro for pro key ( core single language for core single language key)

you cant install pro software with an embedded core key - or the other way around for that matter

2. How to use that ? Is there any tutorial for this ?

That is all for now.

It's not really about overclocking, but power savings. I have not used it myself. You can certainly do without it, but if you are interested in seeing what effects lower energy usage settings have (if any) on performance in day to day use, you might be able to save some energy.

In order to get it to boot I have to tell it to drop windows signature to see my desktop. I have been told this is a RAM problem and to download the drivers from the Asus site which I did and it did nothing. Seems to be a windows boot problem and I am tired of spending money on this machine. I have already spent its worth in repair people to constantly recover the machine. Laptops should last longer than a year I would assume. Now this one is an expensive paperweight. Any ideas?

A:Asus X202E - Missing Windows 10 Drivers?

Hello and Welcome to TenForums!

If Asus have not provided drivers for your model on Windows 10 it does not mean that it will not work, just that they will not support you. If you feel comfortable experimenting you could try the upgrade and see if the W8.1 drivers still work in W10 - this is true for many of the older systems but I cannot guarantee it will work for you. Obviously if you do have a go make sure you backup all your files and create a system image and recovery disk so that you can get back to your current working system. There are a number of tutorials on Windows 8 forums that can help you with this.

I recently switched from Vista to 7 and am having trouble finding Windows 7 drivers for my ASUS M2R32-MVP motherboard. On ASUS' site is a search with 3 boxes (hardware, socket, and the series), I pick motherboards, then socket AM2, then the board M2R32-MVP. This brings me to a second page where a box comes up prompting me to select an OS, but the only options are DOS, Netware, Unixware, Linux, Win98SE, WinME, Win2K, WinXP, Win2003, WinXP 64bit, Win2003 64bit, Vista 32bit, Vista 64bit, other.

There is no option for Windows 7 either 32 or 64 bit. This comes as a surprise because there is a thread on this site with my exact problem and someone posted the ASUS site as the solution and other posters seemed to accept iy... have they stopped supporting my mobo for 7 or what?

I've read suggestions that vista drivers could do it but when I put in the disk that came with my mobo it wouldnt read. I put a lot of money into this computer for gaming, but without those drivers nothing works properly. Can any anyone help me?

Hey folks,

I've recently reserved my copy for Windows 10 on my Asus R500A laptop and when the first time I got that laptop three years ago back in July 2012, it was pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64 edition.

I realized that when its time to upgrade my current Windows 7 system to Windows 10, most of my files and drivers will be brought over to the new operating system.

The only problem is that I'm worrying right now - is whenever I wanted to do a clean install of Windows 10, I want to make sure that I have the "proper" drivers for my laptop that is designed to work with the new operating system.

What advice can you give to me right now in regards to Windows 10 drivers for this laptop?

So I recently just replaced my Asus P6X58-E WS with another Asus P6X58-E WS from Amazon. I always remember hearing to ignore the drivers disk on CD that comes with product and go straight to web-sight and gather latest. (I ALWAYS keep CD for just in case moments) When I was running Win7 last year on old MB, this was never a issue and downloaded drivers from Asus web site, but when I recently went to the Asus drivers download site, there are no options for win8? (Screen Shot Below)
Here Is my problem... After Installing new MB and testing OS operations with only my SSD pluged in (OS win8 is on SSD) everything was working great!! this also confirmed a few of my last MB memory slots were fried because I had 18GB of memory installed but BIOS & OS was telling me I had only 6GB.. Im back @ 18GB now...
I also had QTY6 1TB-HDD I was using with previous MB ( No raid configurations) I record music and many project files can get very big so, each HDD was dedicated to different "IMPORTANT" things. Well, after confirming OS win8 was in working order, I powered down and plugged in all 6 HDD, then powered back up. (I wish I would have done this one HDD at a time now) only 2 are being recognized!!! I keep getting the message....
"you must initialize a disk before logical disk manager can access it"
Now, from what I've gathered from a Google search, this is what you would do to format a NEW hard drive, Correct? I then was reading its as simple as downloading lates... Read more

If anything you now have your hardware name and can try to get the updated driver through the actual company who builds the drivers.

It also does sound like you may need to format the HDD's. Do the same thing but instead of clicking on device manager you will click on disk management and you can right click on each drive and select to format. Just make sure to not format the primary partition if that is even possible.

I recently upgraded this old Dell M1530 Vista x64 laptop to Windows 8 Enterprise x64.

Apparently the sound company for it (Sigmatel) went out of business before Windows 7 was even released and their latest drivers are some ancient Vista drivers.

Should I download and install the Sigmatel drivers or continue to use the drivers that come with Windows 8? (They seem to be fine so far, just seeing if there's any other input on this).

Do you think that the Windows 8 drivers would probably be better based on the fact that they're much newer and made to run in 8, regardless of the fact that it wasn't made for my system specifically?

All I've ever really cared about is what has the best maximum output levels. I really hate sound drivers that are very limited in how loud you can make them output. My old laptop (this M1530) is actually better than my current Origin beast laptop in terms of sound because the sound driver on my new laptop (Realtek) doesn't allow very much loudness at all on a set of headphones. The only reason I ever liked the Sigmatel drivers is because they let you turn up the volume until it's so loud it could blow your ears (and your speakers) out.

Or perhaps it's hardware and has nothing to do with the drivers. I dunno, I'm too stupid.

Point is, drivers that came with my system that aren't designed to work with this OS or go with the Win 8 default drivers?

A:Should I download the old drivers or keep the Windows drivers?

There is a saying, "if it's not broke, don't fix it" so I would stick with the working one. You could save the old driver as a backup.

ASUS board, 1 year old, has the Asus Probe Utility for, among other things,
monitoring the fans, incl. the PS fan, the CPU fan, and one of my 3 case
fans.

All of a sudden, it says that the chassis (case) fan isn't running, and is
giving an audible "bonk" warning sound. But the fan IS running.

It's plugged in to the board.

What's wrong, can anything be done to fix this?

Thanks!

I hate to turn the utility off, but don't want to listen
to that bonking all the time, incl in the headphones.

A:ASUS Mo Utility Suddenly Doesn't Recognize Fan

the asus probe reports a fan problem when a fan is either running to slow or does not register at all (and therefore is considered stopped)

if the fan uses a 3-pin connector that goes into the motherboard, the yellow wire is ised to detect the fan's speed. you have to make sure that there is, at no point, a loose electrical connection, or one that is blocked by dust.

you can disable the alert in your bios, and probably in the asus probe utility as well.

Hello I recently bought an ASUS N56JR and downgraded from the installed Windows 8 home 64 bit to Windows 7 pro 64 bit.

I went down the problem list in the device manager and searched hardware IDs to get all of the problems resolved, but I know that there are still drivers to be installed. I also installed all of the nearly 200 Windows updates. I'm not sure how to properly do that for devices that aren't showing up with a problem. For example the keyboard, NVIDIA geforce gtx 760m card, and bluetooth don't show a problem in device manager, but the keys don't light up, dxdiag only shows the Intel card, and the bluetooth can't connect to anything (but it can be found).

I know those still need work because there are obvious problems associated, but I don't know what other less obvious driver issues I could have that are less apparent. Is there some way to check for devices that aren't showing up in the manager? Also I foolishly uninstalled and unknown device instead of just the driver and it disappeared from the list. How can I get that back?

I was planning to just force updates (that I can find) on devices that the manager thinks are working properly but I know better, but I wanted to check if there was a better/actually correct way to go about this.

Have you checked with Asus?  I always get my drivers from the motherboard manufacturer.  Any other source is likely to be problem laden.

One of the ethernet cards is named Marvell Yukon but Im not sure of the other.

From Motherboards - P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP - ASUS your board has these 2 LAN adapters:
Marvell88E8056? PCI-E LAN controllers
RealtekRTL8110SC? PCI LAN controller
Should find drivers on Motherboards - P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP - ASUS .
Downside is having to download on a different computer first, at least until one LAN is working.

A few months ago, I updated my copy of Windows Vista to Windows 7 (technically, I didn't use the UPDATE option, I instead used the New Partition option. Big mistake, I've been finding). Ever since, I've been trying to recover my programs and drivers, and it's been continuing with some degrees of success. However, I've been having a great deal of trouble obtaining and installing the Windows 7 Asus drivers. Just before posting this, I had attempted to install the (apparently) latest version of Asus Live Update, downloaded directly from their website, and it gave me absurd error messages that were just a series of symbols, and then said "No ASUS motherboard. Installation will be abooted now." Literally, that's what it said.

Basically, I'm trying desperately to recover my Asus drivers so I can once again retain the full functionality of my laptop. Asus' download page is of course totally useless in this endeavor, providing little or no support, only including the insanely vast array of drivers to download.

And now, my questions:
-Is there some way to obtain these drivers much more easily?

-Is there some sort of programming confliction, such as incompatibility with the driver download and Windows 7, that is preventing the InstallShield Wizard from working correctly?

I am using an Asus X38V(b?), and I'm trying mainly to recover the following drivers (all drivers that have directories in the ASUS folder in my progra... Read more

Finding drivers

I have been using the free download program called 'Drivereasy' from 'www.drivereasy.com'. I use the version 2.6.1 which scans your PC, lists all the drivers missing or needing updates, and you can choose to download and/or install. In fact the free version is quite slow to use, but you can pay for a faster version if wanted. I find the information it gives about the drivers is accurate, so you can get them elsewhere if you like. The biggest drivers on my PC are the Graphic card, but I know to get that one elsewhere. This site does not charge for the downloads either, unlike many. Worth a try.

Hello all, I am new to OC. I just wanted to see what my system could do. The motherboard has a built in OC utility in BIOS. The motherboard has three settings you can click on, Energy Efficient, Normal, and OCBurner(or something of that nature). I have Open Hardware Monitor always running. My temps never go higher than 45 C. The BSOD/Lock Up is sporadic. Sometimes during gameplay, and other times just idling. Any ideas?

Here is my rig if this helps.

AMD FX-6100FX Black Edition, normal clock is 3.31Ghz, using the OC utility its 4.14Ghz

Asus Sabertooth 990FX MOBO

DDR3 PC10700 4x4 16GB Kingston RAM

Asus 660ti DirectCU II 2GB GFX

Corsair GT 240GB SSD - OS, Games.

Hitachi 1TB SATA - Storage, approximately 95% empty.
Please assist in this matter, I am pretty good at building PCs and troubleshooting, however, I am new to OC. Thanks in advance!

A:BSOD After using ASUS Sabertooth 990FX MOBO OC Utility.

From a BSOD perspective, I can say that Overclocking makes the computer unstable. If it BSODs with overclocking and stable without it, I would go with stable.

Hi Seven Forums,

I have a problem with my Asus X52JK laptop.
Upon getting a new laptop and my sibling's laptop (conveniently) breaking down it was decided that I would give the X52 to her.

I backed up all of my personal files to an external HDD so no worries about retrieivng them. When I went to create the Recovery Discs through the utility mentioned in the title that all went smoothly and so I began the recovery process.

Booted from discs first and went through the moitons and when that was done I was expected the W7 installation screen however I was greeted with my old login screen with user account still there.

I repeated the process with the same result then decided to check the Recovery Utility and says partition does not exist yet I used MiniTool Partition Wizard and the partition is in fact there. I have tried to use EasyBCD to get around this but with no luck. I have spent roughly 2 days on this problem.

So is there a remedy for this or will I just have to download a Windows 7 ISO and install that?

I appreciate any help I can get.

A:ASUS AI Recovery Utility message: Partition does not exist.

Asus know they have a problem with the Recovery Partition & A1 Recovery app.

What do I do now? Any other BIOS update utility compatible to the Asus P5Q-E?

You could have a corrupt file. I would down load a new copy and try it.

Here is a link to Asus for your board.

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P5Q-E

If that doesn't work here is a link to an engineering ver of AFUDOS that may work.

Afudos Engineering - Download

Try those out as the first attempt. The engineering ver will let you downgrade if you need to.

I opened my laptop and looked around, safely unclipped the mother board connections and nothing looks out of place i unscrewed the HDD it looks good none of the small slits are moved and the pins are also fine.

My volunteer accidentally deleted the newly created website files on the jumpdrive that was used to upload to a new website. Now I am trying to download the webpages that were published through Front Page back to my computer but am having problems. I use core ftp. The problem is at the bottom in the transfer window there are windows files such as windows/fonts/..... andwindows/system32/ and more windows filesthat are waiting to be upload which has nothing to do with the web file. I have used Core FTP LITE program as I update webpages but never had this problem before. I have tried deleting and cannot remove it from the transfer window. Any suggestions. Also, after the website was published for the first time there are a couple of errors. All the apostrophes were read as question marks. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

If you have not performed the upgrade already, I would recommend that you go ahead and do so. I upgraded a S3-391 notebook that is not eligible and I did not have to download any drivers, it is working fine. It is ultimately up to you though, but Acer will not be posting any drivers since it is not an eligible model.
