System drive/OneKey recovery for Lenovo G500S Touch

Q: System drive/OneKey recovery for Lenovo G500S Touch

I have a Lenovo g500s touch laptop with Windows 8 that is not able to boot. The error message occurs very early in the startup process says ?Your PC needs to be repaired. The application or OS couldn?t be loaded because a required file is missing or contain errors. File: \windows\system32\winload.efi. Error code 0xc000000f. You need to use recovery tools on your installation media. ?When trying to use OneKey recovery from the initial image, the recovery seems to start with the progress eye bouncing back & forth for about the 30 seconds. Then the status = Intializing, the current file is blank, speed = 0 Bytes/Minute, Time elapsed continues to increase, Time remaining is blank and the status bar is blank with 0%. I have let this run for many hours and it does not change. Booting via a USB recovery drive seems to indicate the hard drive is correctly working. From a command window bootrec/fixmbr = successful; bootrec/fixboot = successful; bootrec/scanOS says 0 windows installations found; bootrec/rebuildbcd also says 0 windows installations found.Any suggestions to fix this problem?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I was shocked to see if I let it run (>12 hours) the oneKey recovery advanced past the initializing step. It then proceeded to the recovering step and semed to restore all the files. The whole process took about 27 hours. Now when I boot it comes up to the Lenovo screen but does not advance any further. Dave W

I am having issues with my 1TB HD in my G500s Touch  and decided to upgrade to a 500GB SSD from Crucial.  Used their Software I cloned the new SSD and installed without any problem. Now when I restart the laptop looks for the onekey recovery which it cannot locate.  Is there a problem with because I run windows 10?  Reinstalled the old drive and tried to update the onekey recovery but I get the message that there is not enough room.  Space in the partition is 24GB but it needs 96GB. I am not at tech and this looked like an easy project.  Help would be appreciated.

Good day One of my clients came to me with a laptop issue She hasa Lenovo G500S Touch laptop. It sometimes freezes at the Lenovo Bios Screen. She is running Windows 7 on it as she does not like Windows 8  Now it does not happen all the time but its frustrating to her as she is not tech minded and she just wants the thing to work.  Sometimes it starts up normally and sometimes it just hangs at the Lenovo screen. I have tried removing the battery (sometimes it works) , tried resesting the bios and disabling USB boot. I have also tried to remove the hard drive and check it in another PC and its fine. When it does start then its fine. it mostly happends when she moves the laptop around or puts it in a bag and takes it out again. There are no bios updates for the Lenovo G500S touch but only for the Lenovo G500S which does not work on the Laptop. Is there anything else we can try as she has spent so much money on this laptop trying to get it repaired as she does photo editing on it and I know the warranty has expired on the laptop and at that stage she did not take out extended warranty. Is the motherboard now defective ? Please advise as I have never seen this in my IT career and now I don't think I must recommend Lenovo PCs to my clients if they are going to give these issues. I have even cleaned the RAM Slots too Looking forward to help here. Regards Roger StaceRSCOMPUTER SERVICE AND RETAIL SOUTH AFRICA.

Without seeing the notebook myself I could only state that it sounds like a connection between main board and attached daughter boards in the case. Ribbon cable, connectors and such do come loose over time. The other things that could cause this would be damages from a drop or liquid spill... But without looking at it for such I could not be certain. CB

One of the things I loved about this laptop initially was that the sound was very strong. In the past couple of months, the sound has gotten increasingly weaker, such that now I must have it have to basically 100% to be able to hear things. Even with headphones today, I noticed that the sound was very weak unless I had it up to 100%. I checked all the drivers. I'm running Windows 10 and have been for some time. Any thoughts?

I have a Lenovo G500s Touch computer that I bought at Best Buy in March. I noticed not long after I got it that my camera wasn't working with Skype. Not wanting to put DAYS into trying to figure it out, I waited until about a month ago to research what the problem was. (It is still under warranty) So this is about my 5th day spending most of the day trying to figure it out... nothing is working.

I have 8.1 and it can't even FIND my camera. HELP, Please.

Check Device Manager, to see if the camera is even showing in there with the driver installed. If it does not, go to Lenovo's Support site and download the correct driver for your device for the onboard camera.

Good afternoon,  As a frustrated owner of this device, this laptop along with Microsoft has turned into a Mac user. This device from the onset has been a problem. from its cheap make, WIFI connectivity issues, faulty battery life, apps closures I can't see how Lenovo couldn't come up with some type of way of being able to help those that felt suckered into purchasing this device. The customer service a year after the purchase (purchased in 2013) was as poor as Staples. I need a Windows based machine for a project I will be doing, and swearing off Windows I wanted to see if there was any redeemable feature that could help me along this purchase. Removing this device from storage and not using in a year, neither battery (the one that came with the machine or the newer purchased battery holds a charge despite stating it's 100% full. Prior to the switch to Windows 8.1, I felt the device worked perfectly (which was released a week plus after I purchased it. Ever since Windows 8.1 and the even worse Windows 10 have destroyed my love for this machine.  Now as of current, I haven't been able find the battery management reset which was so easily found under Windows 8/8.1 so I decided to reset the device twice losing my access to Windows 10 and the second time no way of being able to recalibrate the battery.  I am now doing a total factory setting which will hopefully help me in something before I trash the machine.  Lenovo and Microsoft, a ... I really hope that there is someone who can help with a OneKey recovery failure.  Briefly, when Windows 10 was first launched and prior to trying it out, I used the OneKey recovery button to back up my laptop onto an external hard drive.  When I didn?t like Windows 10 I successfully restored everything to where it was by using the OneKey recovery button.  Because this worked I had no hesitation repeating the OneKey process earlier this year.  Sadly, when I pressed the Recovery button, after a few minutes the following message was displayed: ?The program cannot restore the system partition because there is not enough available space on the hard drive?.!I tried Lenovo support and was told to take the laptop to PC World, which I did, however after three weeks of trying they failed to restore the laptop too! Can anyone please help?  Because the recovery worked the first time and I was confident that it would work the second time I didn?t backup any data.  Everything is now locked on the external hard drive. Thanks in advance.

I?m still trying to resolve a problem with a OneKey recovery failure and I have not had any response to my first post.

The only difference between the first time I backed up and restored and the second time is that there is much more data stored.

Can anyone please help?  Because the recovery worked the first time and I was confident that it would work the second time I didn?t backup any data.  Everything is now locked on the external hard drive unless I can restore the laptop to the state when the back up was made.

On the Lenovo Onekey Recovery, I selected the option to restore system partition to its initial status. Now I'm not sure what this does exactly, but it then asked for what language I wanted to use and then username and password. And before I could type in anything, the screen turn black and no matter what I did, it wouldn't budge from there. Now I don't know if I accidentally removed windows and I don't know how to get it back. Does anyone know what options I have?

Ive been having issue with my lenovo G580 laptop. Its been stuck in a constant startup repair loop.

Using posts on this forum, ive tried to rectify the problem myself but realised its beyond me but Ive made changes using the DISKPART feature of windows at the command prompt stage, and I think ive disabled the recovery options.

Ive tried to use the onekey recovery service preinatlled onto the laptop. Usually just press the recovery button, next to the power button but pressing this now just boots into the system repair loop.

Does anyone know how I can rectify this?

A:How to re enable lenovo onekey recovery

You can try setting the recovery partition active using partition wizard boot disk, then rebooting to try one key recovery again. There should also be a way to relink recovery to the one key button.

But the factory install is an inferior install to begin with so you'd be better off doing the reinstall in the tutorial under signature picture below.

The stop code waa DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL   What failed was tidsvycf.sys"  and as the laptop rebooted it ran a disk check but then as the laptop restarts and works for less than a minute but then it goes back to Application Error. I've tried clicking OK and cancel and neither work.  This kept happening for a while so I decided to go to System Recovery to reset my laptop back to factory settings. Which I've done in the past when my laptop got stuck on updates. But this time when I got on OneKey Recovery I got the error saying "program can't find initial backup image". Attached is the picture.. Now how do I factory reset my laptop..  When I got the laptop it was Windows 8. I upgraded it to Windows 10 using assisting technologies. So it was a windows 10.

I am having issues with onekey recovery because I am trying to factory reset my laptop. I have used it before without issues, but I believe it may have happened after I tried out Windows 10 but then reverted back to Windows 7. If I try to use the onekey recovery key on the keyboard, it just turns on my computer normally. Any solutions to this issue?

Hello. I apologize if this question has been asked before, but I read everything I could find on partitions and onekey recovery but I still do not understand the concept. I have a few questions for you.I purchased Lenovo Yoga 720 15inch version from best buy. The hard drive size is 256gb SSD. However, when I finished setting up the laptop, I noticed that my Local Drive (C) has only 192 space left. Right next to the Drive C, there is Drive D, which has 25gb space allocated by uses 1.7gb for Driver and YMC software only. There is nothing else in the drive, only drivers. As of now, after I installed all the programs necessary for me work, I have just 158gb space left in my Drive C. I would like to increase that space. I spoke to Lenovo on the phone and the guy told me that there is hidden partition in the drive for Lenovo Onekey recovery, which I do not think I need because I have done Windows reset before and successfully set up the clean format. Here are my questions for you. 1. Can I delete Drive D partition and merge it with Drive C without messing up my operating system? I have already backed up drivers from Drive D onto my external hard drive, and I would like to delete Drive D and merge it with Drive C. Please let me know if this is possible. 2. I looked for disk partition in the disk management, and it shows following:260mb Healthy (EFI System); 212.3gb (Windows C Healthy Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition); Lenovo (D Healthy Primary Parti... Hi avraham123 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

This is the main guideline  (click highlighted link for full article) regarding corrupted partition.

If the Hidden Partition is destroyed:
If the hidden partition is destroyed or replaced hard drive, you won't be able to restore the system through Lenovo OneKey Recovery software. You need to utilize the Recovery DVD, read more from below related articles:How to recover the system to Factory settings with Recovery DiscsHow can I get a system recovery CD, DVD or USB from Lenovo
Note:
If you accidentally uninstall OneKey Recovery, you may go to D drive. Find the folder named as Drivers. Open it to find out OneKey_Recovery folder --> find setup.exe. Click on it and follow the on-screen instructions. OneKey Recovery will be reinstalled.
If you are unable to reinstall OneKey Recovery, you are recommended to contact local service provider or read How can I get a system recovery CD, DVD or USB from Lenovo for more information to get recovery media

As discussed here are suggested steps that you can also try if repair failed .
1) Make sure that recovery partition is there or not. As I said, go to Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Disk Management and check.
2) Second, When the laptop is shutdown, try pressing the NOVO button and see if the laptop starts in the recovery mode.

A:Disk Partitioning on Lenovo Z50-70 with Windows 8.1 and OneKey Recovery

First about the partiitons. Refer to this link. It described each particular partiition. From the link you gave the 13 GB space is the OKR recovery partition. To your Hdd the 13.72 GB labelled as Recovery Partition is the OKR Recovery partition. To be strict about these two partitions they are really user OKR backup storage partition. There are other partitions needed by OKR through the NOVO button. You should be able to see them using a third party partiition program like EaseUs Partition Manager. Second. As to your important question: "The most important question I have, is what happens if my internal hard drive fails after several years (like it did on my previous DELL laptop). I will hopefully have a good Windows System Image Backup, but with no recovery disks, if I wanted to purchase a new internal replacement hard drive, how can I get a copy of the essential OneKey partitions, to get to a state to recover my Windows System Image backup." Comment: If you made a system image or backup using Windows you will only get Windows when you restore. As to the OKR (Onekey Recovery) partitions you will not be able to restore them. If you made the backup using OKR then you will be able to restore them from the date you made the backup. This means updated OS plus programs you installed. This will only happen if the OKR partitions remain in place. So if you use a new hdd which does not  have the OKR partitions you will not be able to restore your OKR backup.

I bought my wife an ideapad maybe a year or so ago (the exact model isn't coming to me at the moment) and she recently had it die while she was using it due to low battery. When it started up, it was having issues starting up and went stright to onekey recovery. No problem, we've used this feature before... but after the recovery, it gives me the option to restart and it loads automatically to the onekey recovery again. It has done this time and time again. I am able to boot in to bios by pressing Fn+F2 when at the lenovo splash screen but nothing in there seems to give me any help or remedy the situation. The Lenovo splash screen seems to hang for a very long time and also displays "Checking Media" in the upper left corner, reminiscent of a DOS screen. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated... Also, I have ensured that the onekey button is not stuck. It seems to click in and out of place pretty obviously. I'm at a loss!

i have a windows 8.1 64bit on my G500s (non-touch model) laptopi was installing windows updates (and this is the only action related to OS - drivers i made)accidentally i found no Optical drive in my computer under windowsiam sure the laptop wasn't subjected to trauma, falls or else.i thought it might be a conflict in my OS , so i installed a new fresh windows installi was astonishingly surprised that the CD drive in not listed in the BIOS (setup)i tried to install the BIOS update from the lenovo site but unfortunately it refuses to run as i have the same version (most updated bios version)i tried my DVD drive in another computer and it worked fine, so it is not a drive problemstill the tray opens and closes and its led light run, so it is not power problem, however not identified neither by the BIOS nor by windows  help is highly appreciatedthanks in advance

Hi Ahmadsamir11,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with DVD in your Lenovo G500s laptop.

As you have mentioned that this DVD is working in another system, try to swap check the DVD of other system in this system and check for the issue.

Also try to change the BIOS into default setting and check for the issue.

A:Lenovo G500s DVD-drive doesn't work

Hi Didam35,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that the ODD (Optical Disc Drive) is not reading the DVD disc in your G500s Laptop eve after the latest drivers are updated, below are the steps to check and resolve this issue:

Ensure that the DVD you are inserting is in good condition.
Open device manager by clicking on Winkey+R key together, type devmgmt.msc in the Run window and select OK.

Example:

Now under ?DVD/CD-ROM drives? right click on it and select Un-install and then restart the computer to check the issue or scan for hardware changes. To scan for hardware changes, right-click the drive and select Scan for hardware changes.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back if the issue persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Why OneKey Recovery does not work after installing latest update of windows 10? I have updated windows today (14 Oct 2017). I think the latest version of windows 10 has been installed on my laptop now. After installing this latest version of windows 10, I am unable to make system backup using pre-installed OneKey Recovery Software in my Lenovo Yoga500 14ISK laptop. An another issue is I found a windows.old folder in my system drive which is using approximately 15 GB. It is a very disturbing thing to me. It is appearing after installing the updates. Can anybody help me with the above issues. Thanks in advance. Sincerely,Rubel Ahmed

Hello all! I have an old laptop that is very slow and buggy. I got all of the files I want to keep off of it, so now I would like to get it back to a factory reset condition. I've tried using Win7 to restore it, but it only has very recent images of the computer that I can back it up to (no solution), and I don't have the CDs for a Win7 reinstallation (though I still have the email with the lisence key from ages ago). I've tried OneKey Recovery, but it doesn't find a partition (perhaps someone knows how to point it to the right one?). Can anyone help me make my laptop "like new?" I am thinking I can get an image from somewhere, just not sure where, and then use that to restore my computer to its original form. Maybe I've got to get myself a set of restore discs, but I don't know the best place to find those. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Please see the file with 4 screenshots for more details. Thanks in advance,Dave

Can i Recover the C drive Files from Backup file of other PC using onekey recovery ?Since C drive is formatted For Ideapad Z510

A:Z510 Onekey Recovery issue,C drive

Hi Anandgs ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

If you have previously created a One Key Recovery backup before formating the original harddrive on a separate media , with the same model Ideapad Z510 and specifications , as far as I know , you would be able to restore using one key recovery from user back up as an option .

This would overwrite current data on the current pc .
Would this be how you plan on retrieving backup info?

Update us .

Regards

I have done a recovery before without a problem.  But now when I'm in the system recovery environment, my backup drive (an external drive) is not being detected.  Only drives C and D are an option.  I have tried my two different USB ports, and neither work.   By the way, I have a G50-30 laptop, but there are no forums for laptops, so I have posted here. Can anyone help me, please?

In good faith i managed to do system image with Onekey Recovery before my drive died fully. I did not expect that restoring would be impossible. I bought new drive, what is 250G smaller (750) but still enough for the restore (500G). I would have NEVER used Onekey if there had been warnings that i cant use it right away on new disk (that has no service partition) and after a day of browsing i even found out that the partitions have to be the same size, making my new HD useless. My only option so far is to to buy new 1TB HD, find somebody with 1TB HD Lenovo laptop, copy Onekey service partition and then HOPE that all works out. Because Lenovo Onekey Recovery fails to do what it is supposed to do - provide security, i feel i have to make sure that noone of my family or friends ever buy Lenovo products. I need either a program that can extract files from the backup image system or simple way to rebuild service partition and upgraded version of the application that can restore on smaller file system. How it all is right now is absolutely horrible.

My lenovo laptop has original windows 7 and its hard disk is of size 640 GB. When I try to recover my system ( Onekey Recovery - Recover from initial state - Next ) it shows "Hard disk 0, 596GB" in "Selected disk:" in "Recover Summary". Will it erase my personal data on D drive? Or will it only format C drive without affecting D drive?

Hey guys, I have a Lenovo Ideapad IdeaPad 100 14ibd - win10 and basically im planning on formatting my laptop to get rid of all the stuff/unknown files that are terribly slowing down my ram. But im still new to this process so im wondering if using Lenovo's Onekey recovery is a good thing but then i saw the Reset this PC feature of windows is another thing. My question is, what would be the more recommended thing i should do to get my laptop to its original state just like the new windows 10, or are there any difference within those  two?PS: I got my back up files all set from this laptop to my external hd already Thank you!
