I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, Everyone. Got me a nice little x270 to replace my old x201.  Happy enough with the machine, but getting it connected to my accessories (monitor, keyb, mouse, ethernet) is a bit of a chore. This machine appears to have a "proper" dock port on the bottom.  Is there a compatible ultradock available for the model 20HN x270?  By proper - I mean, Not USB.  A nice dock I can simply drop the machine into when I'm at the home office.. Thanks!

I am just going to guess that computer is trying to boot via USB, so you might try changing the boot order in the BIOS so that Windows Boot Manager or the HD is first.

Hi, I am looking for some help, I have a T450 that has been working away on a Thinkpad Ultra Dock with no issues, then all of a sudden it will not charge while docked!! Take it out of the dock and charge directly and it works fine, I tried replacing with a new docking station the exact model but again it does not charge the laptop while in the dock, I have switched out the battery and it is still the same. I have fully updated the BIOS etc and still have the same issue, I tried updating the Ultra Dock firmware but run into issues as the firmware update will only run while docked and also has power, but as the laptop is not detecting power I cannot proceed , I tried updating out of the dock but it does not proceed either as it cannot detect the docking station. Everything else works via the docking station HDMI, USB, DVI, Ethernet  all working perfect, has anyone came accross this issue?

I am running 2 monitors (Dell U2414H @ 1920 x 1080 60Hz) on my ThinkPad USB 3.0 Ultra Dock.  I also have my Yoga 900 monitor on and the desktop is extended to all monitors.  I have a regular issue where the Displayport monitor turns off for 1-3 seconds then comes back on for no apparent reason.  I have searched the internet and the only similar issue I have found suggestes the dock is under powered to run 2 monitors however that does not seem consistent with what other people are doing.  There is no particular application that causes the issue. Can anyone help?  It's very frustrating waiting for the monitors to come back on.

Hi there, when I undock my X280 from the Ultra dock (notebook closed but running) and open the lid the device will not respond to keyboard or trackpoint input.I need to close the lid again which triggers entering 'energy saving' mode. Then opening the lid again will resume everything to normal. I can reproduce this every time on two identical Docks. Funny thing is, my wifes identical X280 does not show this behaviour but works fine. Any idea what I could try to solve this small (but a bit annoying issue)?Thanks.Q.

Yesterday, I updated my T450s and, among other updates,I updated the Ultra Dock 90W firmare to version 2.29.00.  Afterward, when the laptop is docked, with the cover shut, and I try to power up the unit, it won't do so.  When I open the laptop in the dock, the power indicator is green and there is a green light on the function key.  No matter what I try, the machine won't power up after this.  If I force it to shut down and then try to power it up open instead, it powers up normally and both the laptop screen and the attached monitor work and, if I close the cover after, the attached monitor still works.  Obviously, I can use the machine docked with this work around, but I can't figure out why it won't work when I try to poweer it up closed.  I subsequently updated to version 2.30.00 and the behavior continues. What am I missing here?

I have a Thinkpad W540 with a Lenovo Ultra Dock Docking Station (40A20170US). Here is the set up I am trying to get to work:Display 1) VGA Planar PL2010M monitorDisplay 2) DVI Planar PL1910M monitorDisplay 3) DisplayPort Lenovo L2251x Wide monitorDisplay 4) LCD monitor (off) When I have selected Standard Mode under the BIOS display settings, I am able to connect two monitors plus the internal LCD at the same time: one on VGA and the other on DVI, or I can connect one on VGA and the other on DisplayPort.  This allows me to have three displays, including the LCD.  My problem is that I am unable to get a third monitor to work as well.  When I connect a monitor via DisplayPort, the monitor on DVI stops working.  After reading forum posts and whatever else I found online, I learned (maybe I'm incorrect?) that I need to switch to Advanced Mode in the BIOS to be able to use three external monitors.   I then uninstalled drivers (the BIOS instructions state that you are supposed to uninstall graphics drivers before switching to Advanced Mode), switched to Advanced Mode in the BIOS, started up the computer, reinstalled the latest drivers, but now the only screen working is my laptop's LCD screen.  None of monitors are detected by Windows no matter what I try. When I switch back to Standard Mode in the BIOS, two of my external monitors begin working again. My docking station firmware is updated FYI.   Any suggestions ... Read more

A:Unable to connect to 3 monitors to Ultra Dock (Thinkpad W540) in Advanced Mode BIOS Setting

So I fixed the issue for myself and just wanted to post in case somebody else had the same issue.  I took the following steps to fix the issue:[Background: BIOS is in "Standard" display mode to begin with; I had already updated the docking station's firmware first with a program called fwdphb03.exe and then with Lenovo's update utility.]1) In Windows, I uninstall drivers for the Intel Graphics and K1100 dedicated card.2) Restart, go into BIOS, switch to "Advanced" mode under the Display tab.  I also have the option selected to start up on the docks in the BIOS Display tab.3) Booted into Windows (8.1) and it looked like the Intel Graphics drivers were automatically downloaded. I then ran Lenovo's System Update utility to get the latest video drivers.  Under the optional tab in the Lenovo update utility, I selected the "Optimus" drivers and hit download/install.  It installed, and I had to restart.4) Booted into Windows again, ran Lenovo update utility again, and again it had a video driver to install when I checked for updates.  I installed that, had to restart again.5) Booted into windows, checked screen resolution and saw that no external monitors were showing.6) I then decided to get a driver straight from the source.  Downloaded: the following file from  Nvidia: 334.95-quadro-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe.  I ran the installation, it did a "Clean" installation with everything checked off. Does the Thinkpad P51s support the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock? I have the Thinkpad P51s with stock Windows 10 Pro and updated to latest drivers and Windows version and installed the latest Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock drivers. Attaching the Thunderbolt 3 Dock to the P51s as described in documentation, it charges the notebook, however, noting attached to the dock is recognized. I've tested with attaching USB flash drives, headphones, Ethernet, HDMI, and DP, but nothing is recognized nor are any warnings/errors displayed in Windows. While the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock is listed as being compatible with the P51s and T570, the notebook order page does not list the Thunderbolt 3 Dock in any of the accessories lists. Lenovo Sales also confirmed that the Thunderbolt 3 Dock is fully compatible with the P51s.  However, I needed to purchase the Thunderbolt 3 Dock separately from the notebook order. What's going on? Has anybody successfully used the P51s or the T570 with the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock? Or is this something I need to wait for full support via a future BIOS/driver update? Or perhaps my Thunderbolt 3 Dock is defective? Thanks,Boris

T470s running Win7 x64 Enterprise USB ports on the local laptop/machine work fine when docked or undocked - it's only when the machine is docked using the 170W Ultra Dock that the dock USB ports don't function at all.  I do not hear Windows recognizing the port via audible notifications.  There seems to be no issues within Device Manager.  The dock does recognize external displays (via display port),, so part of the dock seems to be working ok.  It's just the USB ports that seemed to be somehow turn off.  MY next step is to test the OEM version of the OS with the dock to see if I can reproduce the issue.  But curious if anyone else has seen this or resolved this issue before?   Thanks in advance

With a Thinkpad T470s) I can get 1 working but the other monitor just doesn't see a signal. My company has issue me a Lenovo T470s and an Ultra Dock to replace my existing equipment. I have two external monitors connected to the docking station with display port cables. The problem that I am experiencing is that if the laptop is docked and the cover is open, I get video on the laptop display and one external monitor. The other external monitor gets no signal and goes to sleep. If I close the laptop cover, I get video on both external monitors. A co-worker told me that this was working as designed and that the solution for getting video on all three monitors was to connect one external monitor to one of the display ports and the other to the DVI port. (He hadn't tested this configuration and is using two display ports with the laptop cover closed.) I tried my coworker's suggestion and got the same result but prior to switching to DVI, I downloaded and installed the latest(?) driver for the HD Graphics 620 adapter from this website (lenovo.com) and that seemed to solve the problem (when using two display ports) but after shutting the laptop down, I had the same issue the next day. What I want, is to have the laptop cover open and still be able to use two external monitors and get optimal resolution on all three monitors. What's the best configuration for achieving this? (Don't guess, like my co-worker. Give me something you've tested and that you can confirm that it works.)

Hi, I'm using a Thinkpad Pro dock with an L470 on Windows 10(both brand new). I have a VGA monitor and a DVI monitor connected, and I can output to both screens as well as the laptop display just fine, however as soon as I undock, or switch off the laptop, when I come to use it again, neither of the screens are showing as connected. I have to unplug them from the dock and plug them back in again, at which point they are recognised and work fine... until next time I have to undock/switch off. I have tried this with a different laptop (also L470, but running windows 8.1) with even worse results. On 8.1 the screen will repeatedly flicker for about 10 seconds, and any combination of the screens will work (sometimes just the laptop screen, sometimes just 1 monitor, sometimes all 3). Even when all 3 work, it rarely has the correct resolution, and takes several attempts to get it working properly. The whole point of having a dock is that there is no need to keep plugging things in every time you sit down, if I have to re-plug the monitors every time it is pretty pointless having a dock in the first place. I have updated the BIOS on the laptop, updated every driver, updated the firmware for the dock and Windows 10 is bang up to date. I'm about out of ideas now and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a fix for this? I see web searches that this is quite a common issue, but most of the "fixes" are what I have already done, or are specific to Windows 7 or 8... Read more

I have since March this machine which is giving me quite a lot of problem. I had several BSOD (or the nicer version Win 10 provides) since several months. I updated even the BIOS. Now it seems related to a specific situation: if the notebook is connected to power supply and goes to sleep. If instead it relies on battery, such issue does not occur. Looking at the minidumps, I notice the main error is always the same PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA caused by ntoskrnl.exe + 1640e0 As I use my machine for computations, it becomes really and issue. If I close it and force it to sleep, everything seems OK (or less reproducible events). I made the Lenovo tests and nothing looks wrong. Missing the CD, I do not know how to make a memtest. I read elsewhere that it be related to nvidia drivers, which I do not think concern this machine. I will attach the minidump files. Thank you for your suggestions and help.

Not sure what you mean by you searched for drivers at Lenovo?  Or are you saying you found the drivers but they dont work?  Either way below is the link to T470s.   Click "Drivers and Software" on top.  You can Choose Windows 7 32 bit or windows 7 64 bit.  Also that link will have "system update" as well.  It should pull down all software for your laptop automatically.  Also you metnion T470s but wasnt sure if you had the 20JS, 20JT, 20HF or 20hg models.

Dear community, (please bear with me, I am not an English native speaker.) This is not about the "plugged, not loading" issue I found around here multiple times. My Thinkpad will charge via charger only when it is switched OFF. It loads perfectly when plugged via docking station.Batteries are getting empty, power save mode and all that. Pluging two different power units show same result. Behaviour, reproducable:Computer running, info tray says battery 1 in use and battery 2 not loading (or vice versa), no matter if charger is plugged or notWhen charger is plugged while PC runs, the charger indicator light right besides the power plug remains darkOnce my ThinkPad is truly off (shutdown), any of my chargers work just perfectly: orange light while charging, green light when finishedAdditional weirdness: ThinkPad does not start when plugged to the charger. Hitting/pressing the power button at the right of the keyboard has no effect at all. Once unplugged from charger, it boots just as usual. While typing this with 9% remaining capacity, computer shut down. I plugged it to the charger and closed the lid --> orange light. Waited a couple of minutes. Opened lid. ThinkPad wakes up, and I continue writing.Again: charger is plugged, LED light is off again, info tray says not loading/in use. Any ideas?Frederik I am running M$ Win10 Enterprise.
