Passing Port 80 Service Request Through Router From WAN To LAN

Q: Passing Port 80 Service Request Through Router From WAN To LAN

I run a web server from my laptop, and my IP address (location) gets updated via DynDNS.org servers.

My notebook is always behind a NAT-configured LAN, and I have configured the router firewall to pass port 80 service requests to my IP (usually 192.168.x.2, where x is maybe 0 or 1 or whatever...I use NetSetMan for location based setting). Note: the DHCP server is configured to stay away from static addresses in the private LAN.

Most routers have their own port 80 service, the configuration interface, accessible by hosts inside the LAN.

I don't have a problem with port 80 service requests coming from the WAN getting passed to 192.168.x.2 host running the web server.

BUT, users in the 192.168.x subnet requesting service from within the LAN do NOT get delivered the web page from host 192.168.x.2, but instead the router's configuration interface, if they use the host NAME. Of course, if they use the host IP address, they get the content.

What is happening of course is that if anyone uses "http://mywebserverhostname.com/", it goes to DynDNS.org where the IP is resolved to the address a.b.c.d, the WAN IP address of the router I am currently connected to. So the http client bundles the packet to the destination a.b.c.d:80.

The users INSIDE the LAN get the router configuration interface web page when they type in a.b.c.d:80, but not users OUTSIDE the LAN (in that WAN).

What's the solution?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Any chance this is a Belkin router? I had the same problem with my Belkin N450 Gigabit, not being able to use my DynDNS name, only the ip address (192.168.....). The Belkin died a few days ago when our power blipped two or three times in a row (I did not have the router on a battery backed up UPS plug, do now).

I replaced it with a Netgear 450 Gigabit router and the problem is gone. I can now connect using the DynDNS name (and Mooo.com name) again. So, bottom line is, it's probably your router causing the problem.

I went round and round with Belkin on this for over a month and finally just gave up. Made it difficult to test changes to the web server.

Have you tried a different port to see if that port is being blocked by your ISP?

I also see that your parsing TCP to UDP, probably doesn't make a difference to the port being open or closed but it might be better to set them both the same or set to Any.

Another problem you may encounter is your IP may change, most ISP's like to change your IP every so often so you may have to set up a DDNS with a hostname in order to access the services you want remotely.

I have no idea.

I know we have two ports in router (mine is Netgear 300N Model)

Could anyone really help in explaining me
1. Which one is routers mac address
2. Static ip should be binded to LAN or WAN Port

Pls guide Thank You

P.S. I intend to use DVR for CCTV for remote viewing later

I Don't know what your talking about directly but I'm willing to try. Can you explain a little better what the isp person is asking you? From the screenshot I know the bottom section is your local connection and the top part is your WAN connection. If that helps any.

I have a P1 GEN2 OLED. While the internet is flooded with complaints of the OLED screen itself, the thunderbolt 3 port of my P1 GEN2 magically stopped working for no reason.  I have been using the laptop with an external display ever since I got the laptop. All went well. Suddenly from yesterday, the external display starts turning into a blue sreen with "NO SIGNAL" shown on it.  I had a windows cumulcative update (KB4532693) and windows security update (KB4524244) yesterday and I suspected that the update might be the culprit. I rolled back the OS. No change. Still NO SIGNAL.  I searched this Forum. Played with Thunderbold 3 menu in the Bios. Everything was enabled and every single option of "security level" was tried. Still NO SIGNAL.  I checked Intel Mangaement Engine software. It is already the latest version. Reinstalled it. Still NO SIGNAL.  I checked Nvidia driver. Latest version already.  In sum, the problem is: the thunderbolt port is still able to power the extenal display but just simply does not pass signal to the external display. HDMI port, however, still passes signal if use an HDMI cable.  I want to give it a shot here to see if anyone has experienced similar issues and how they sovled the problem before I call Lenovo technical support, the staff of which does not seem to know more than some people here on this Forum.

My Netgear R6220 spontaneously stopped passing the internet signal from the modem. I have verified with the ISP that the problem is not the modem, and checked that the router is still broadcasting wifi, albeit with no internet. At the time this happened two computers were plugged into the router via ethernet, and only one dropped off the internet initially. But once I rebooted, that was it.
So far, I have rebooted the modem and router, hard reset the router, uploaded new firmwear for the router, run all the Windows 10 diagnostics and checked that the settings are for automatic ip addressing.
I've looked at several similar threads, but nothing quite matches, and I believe I have tried all the fixes I've seen. I don't think the computer itself is an issue, since it's working fine with the modem, and two computers were affected, but it's a Dell XPS with i7-3770 processor and 32 GB of RAM
I'm using straight connection to the modem now. Any help is appreciated.

I have a bit of a confusing setup. There is Internet being supplied through network cables to my computer, and another Internet connection from a Wireless connection. So I have no problems getting Internet to my Windows 7 computer. That is the easy part.

What I want to then do is pass it along from my computer on a second wired network connection to a Wireless Router (D-Link, DSL-G604T) to provide a wireless Internet access point. I haven't done it just yet (plan to purchase that extra network card soon), but I would like to know if this is possible, and how to do it. Will it work somewhat easily using Internet Connection Sharing?

Also, I don't mind if I have to keep my computer constantly on for it to work. I keep it on a lot.

When the user tries to login into their laptop whether cabled into our domain network or not, they receive a message "there are currently no logon servers available to service this request".  but if cabled into the network and they wait 5 minutes, they
are able to sign in without issue but it takes 2 to 3 minutes to load the page.  I signed into the laptop with my domain admin account and received the same message as the user, but when we tried cabled in (5 minutes later), i was able to sign in without
issue.  The troubleshooting steps:
1.  Updated the network driver today (still receiving same result)
2.  Re-added the computer to the domain today (still receiving same result)
3.  the event viewer is showing the 5719 NETLOGON message and also 1129 (but the user has been receiving this for a number of months)
4.  The only thing we haven't tried is creating a new user profile but the only reason I don't see that working is because if its happening with my domain admin account it can't be a profile issue.

Any ideas of what could be causing this and is there a fix for it?  I do see there is a hotfix but wasn't sure if we should run it or not.

I have been using an DSL Siemens speedstream 6520 router at home. I usually carry out some R&D by placing servers behind the router. I access the services on each of the servers from the ouside using port forwarding and it has been working fine for http, ftp, RDP, any user defined ports etc but in the case of port 25 SMTP its not working at all. I have checked the port on the local lan and I am able to telnet to that server but from the outside only on this port 25 I am not able to telnet. But If i were to change the SMTP port number from 25 to any other port like 24 or 26, I am able to telnet from the outide. Is there any way i can make SMTP port 25 to work and access the same from the outside.

A:SpeedStream 6520 DSL Router - Port forwarding for port 25

Is it possible that port 25 has been blocked by your ISP? This is a pretty common thing for ISP's to do as a SPAM prevention measure.

As you can see, there are quite a few ISP's blocking port 25 on this list.

I recently added a Linksys WRT310N Wireless-N router to my home network and can no longer access my web/ftp server from outside the local network. Previously, I was running a ZyXEL EQ-66HW ADSL gateway in router mode as a hub and wireless AP. With the ZyXEL running by itself, I had no problem running XAMPP (Apache/FileZilla/etc..) on my internal server with a dynamic/DHCP ip address from my ISP. Problem was that I needed wireless-n and the ZyXEL only went up to G. So I put the ZyXEL in bridge-mode, turned off its wireless and DHCP and connected the Linksys as a router/firewall/AP. So far, no problem - bridge works, Linksys gets the external DHCP address, internal network gets its subnet from the router and the wireless is up. No problems routing internal to external - everything external to internal times-out. I can ping my ISP/DHCP external address, however. So it seems to me it a firewall problem. I tried forwarding my main ports 80/20-21 and opening the same on my COMODO personal firewall. No luck. I turned on DMZ to my server with COMODO still on, nothing. Disabled software firewall and tried both regular forwarding and DMZ. Still nothing. Help? I had the same problem before with the Linksys when it was using a cable-modem. Also, I was using AVG firewall before when it worked - I have newly switched to the COMODO.

Hi I have tried many resolutions and nothing. It all worked before with 2 cheap routers off of my cable modem (High Speed Cogeco Cable) but I couldn't password protect the routers because my wireless for laptop wouldn't log on at all?

1) So now I have a new rca cable modem (from provider) to a linksys ezx55w 5 port switch (not in the uplink port I assume since I have tried with and without from modem).

2) From switch to D-Link Di-524 (for wireless in yard and garage if I choose to bring laptop out here or around) to two computers in garage

3) From switch to 100+ foot of cat cable to house to an X-Micro also wireless for where laptop mainly stays) (cheap router but works great)

So all should be fine as I have researched and had replies to do it this way for ease of not conflicting hooking 2 routers together.

NOT SO...lol.

After reading I do not see if there is something in the settings I should do to each router still...since they (to me) are on seperate lines from the 5 port switch? Or maybe is this a cause from my provider not allowing me to use 2 seperate lines as I see it as well?

ANY HELP is greatly appreciated please been working on this for over 3 weeks now and read so much that all the scenerios don't make sense anymore.

OK... in my 40+ years, I have never had trouble like this, and I've been working on computers since I was 10.

I am trying to get a Palm Symbol SPT1700 to sync with a computer. Finding a computer with a serial port nowadays is impossible, so I've been trying a Prolific USB-to-Serial adapter. On one computer I was able to get the Palm to sync once with the laptop through the adapter and it has refused to retain a connection again ever since.

I have this Panasonic CF-29 Toughbook that actually has a serial port. I have tried EVERYTHING but I cannot get Windows XP to recognize the port. In BIOS, there are three entries - Serial A, Serial B and MP (multimedia) Serial Port. I have tried every combination under the sun of 'enabled,' 'disabled,' and 'manual' for those three but nothing works. I have tried to scan for new hardware. I have even manually added the port. Nothing. I have tried to disable the touchscreen (which doesn't work anyway) as well as the modem and USB legacy support. Nothing has any effect.

I installed the USB-to-Serial adapter on the CF-29 and while it installs fine, the laptop refuses to acknowledge the Palm. I looked at the port of the adapter and it is set to COM4. In the port drop-down menu, it shows that COMs 1,2,3, and 7 are all in use somewhere.

ANY help at all is going to be greatly appreciated!

Hi All,

I'm a new member that was referred here from cexx.org for a malware issue. While I'm here I also want to seek help with updating from SP2 to SP3. I tried installing from windows update many times when it was still being supported by ms, but was never able to.

I also tried to download and install the stand alone. It gets near the end of the install and then I get an error message "access denied". The sytem then removes all the SP3 files and reverts back to SP2.

I did a search but found that most people were having issues with AMD CPU units. My system is: XP Pro (Media Edition); (2) Duo 266ghz with 3.25 gigs of ram (4gb but windows only recognises 3.25)

Any help will be greatly appraciated.....

A:Hello and a request for help installing Service Pack 3

I could be wrong...but I would think that your malware issue takes precedence over anything else involving an infected system.

If you would like to provide some detail as to what those issues are...and/or a link to your previous thread at the other website...it might help clarify what should be done.

FWIW: The reported issues with AMD processors...turned out to be HP/OEM issues due to the way they set their systems up. Just an info item.

To anyone with knowledge about LANs, NATs, and port forwarding around a router.

I am on an iMac OS 9.1 on a small home LAN (3 macs) connected by a simple hub to a Cisco 675 router which is connected to ADSL (640 Kb/s Qwest)

I see from other postings that it is not always trivial to play host for an online game if you have DSL and are on a LAN. Apparently requests from other players to join your game must be directed by the game server through a specific game port in the router to your location in the LAN by a little thingy called NAT (though why I don't need NATs help to direct my web traffic to my little box I have no idea). I have been wrestling with this problem off and on for about 2 months now and am getting nowhere. I hope someone in the forum can help me out.

A post in Help from Gameranger (the Mac gameserver in this case though I don't think this problem is unique to Macintosh in anyway) said, after trying to explain about port forwarding and NAT, to enter the local address of the router "into your browser"! The local address for the router is but I have no idea where to enter such an address into a browser (They don't answer e-mail requests for clarification). I tried the proxy box in IE and all it did was lock up my computer. Anyone have any suggestions on this fix??

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for taking the time to read/answer my problem.  I am an admin and some of my users have been experiencing this issue recently.  It seems to have happened after Windows Updates.  Our systems are Dell 7250/7450's about 2 years old (give

My first case was a user in the airport heading to Japan and couldn't get logged in.  That was bad.  Now, I have lots of users who cannot login to their computers unless they're on the local network.  I'm interested in finding out how I can
fix this.  I've seen lots of posts that say I need to remove/readd to the domain but, I'd like to avoid that if possible and actually understand what's causing the problem.
Here's the sequence of events that seems to have led up to the problems.

Users reported having to reboot after windows updatesUsers received BIOS message that there are no available windows installations and that SecureBoot has caused a problem.  This was directly related to the Recent Windows Update (MS16-100

I submitted a service request--to which I have still received no response--on 4/4 because my Flex4 got stuck in a windows repair look. I did plenty of research and figured out I needed to get a recovery disc from Lenovo. I tried to do that and found out I needed to download and create my own instead. Fine. I bought a flash drive, downloaded the files, and tried to boot the Flex4 from the flash drive. It didn't work. I did some more research and read that maybe I needed to make the boot partition on the flash drive active. I did that. The Flex4 still won't boot. Yes, I've changed the BIOS options to boot from USB first. Yes, in the boot menu, it recognizes the flash drive as a boot option. Yet nothing ever works. The laptop comes to the Lenovo screen with the spinning icon, and it just spins. I've left it overnight and it will still be spinning 8 hours later.  Today, I got an e-mail from Lenovo saying my issue has been resolved. I checked the status on the Lenovo web site and it says the same thing. That's very interesting since I never received ANY response from Lenovo about my actual problem. After seeing the message about the closed ticket, I tried to submit a new ticket. I got an e-mail from Lenovo with the subject: Lenovo Service Request: Processing Error. The e-mail said: "Thank you for contacting us. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Malewarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"
Task Manager:
"C:\WINDOWS\system 32\WF.msc
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"
Run CMD as administrator
"C:\WINDOWS\system 32\cmd.exe
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"
I have windows 10 (upgraded from 7)and use Avast Free as my antivirus. I got a message today that Avast blocked a virus(or something harmful), so I ran a scan with Avast and it came back clean. Then I decided to run Malwarebytes, and this is when I started to notice these issues. I haven't ran Malwarebyte in a month or two so the problem could of been there before. I tried to uninstall the program but I get the same error. I went to Malwarebytes website and downloaded the mbam-clean I followed their instructions to uninstall Malwarebyte but I receive the same error "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". On microsoft support website I followed the instructions to use the system file checker tool. I can use the command prompt normally, but if I try to run as administrator (which it recommends) I get the same error.
Hopefully you can help. Thanks.

A:The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion

I fixed it. It was a windows 10 problem. I found a post the Microsoft support form that said to restart with "Enable debugging mode". Everything is a lot faster and works now. The Malwarebytes scan came back clean.

I am a 5 year owner of an X220 that still runs strong. I wanted something bigger and lighter. I ordered 2015 model X1 (non-yoga)... it had a poor FHD display screen (fuzzy text, don't get FHD instead get the QHD) and had issues resuming from sleep. Lenovo sent me a replacement, had same issues, I sent both back. No issues with the return process, very easy and free because they were defective. Now, I ordered a 2016 X1 Yoga because I want to be awesome and show off my touch screen 360degree swivel to cute girls in my class. The QHD display is amazing, looks just like a macbook pro retina display. I close the lid or put the laptop to sleep mode, open the lid, it turns on with blank screen and beeps 4 beeps three times (Everytime I sleep it). I have to manually hold power button to restart laptop. Nice! Also, sometimes the display driver crashes and gives a prompt telling me that it crashed. Another thing is that sometimes when I put it in tablet mode and back to laptop mode, it thinks its still in tablet mode. Other than these issues I've noticed within one day of using it.. no idea what else is yet to come lol... the laptop is so so so awesome, for reals. That said, should I send it into Lenovo Depot for repair service or get a replacement? I've read bad reviews on the depot service on this forum. At the same time, I don't want Lenovo to send me another defective laptop as was my experience with my X1 (non-yoga).  What should I do?

I am owning one dell inspiron 7537 laptop. I had a problem with my laptop LCD(dead pixel) and it got replaced with some refurbished panel just before 2 months. after one month of replacement the screen started to show some problem (flickering / freezing) again I raised service request, this time I asked them to replace a my own lcd panel after serviced. as per the technical support they are ready to replace the part with another refurbished one. they can't replace it my original panel or new one (which I didn't ask) reasons they are saying is like my laptop is old so Dell policy not supports to replace a New Panel to it. OK no problem what I am asking is to get me the original part of my laptop after serviced. There will be no age problem / or dell policy issue. Because I know how much I cared my laptop. And I don’t want someone’s unknown parts that too after refurbished state. Get my laptop’s own part after serviced. Because as you see after fixing a refurbished part, it is not even passed at least a 6 month (most common warranty period) then how much I can blindly trust it again. This is my personal laptop. So I don’t plan to spend another big amount just after the warranty period expires.I have 14 more months remaining my warranty with Accidental cover insurance.

Hello everyone. I have had this problem for a while now, and it's bugging me a lot.
Basically, I have the following problem:
I get randoms "Request timed out" when pinging my router IP. ( .
I have a DGN2200 and at the moment and a netgear WNA1100.

-Random "request timed out" from with consequencial lost of connections
-Doesn't happen all the time, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I can go for hours without having it happening, then go for hours with this thing bugging me all the time.
-doesn't happen to other computers/smartphones connected to the LAN

What I have tried:

-Formatting my computer from windows 8 to windows 7.
-Tried switching usb port.
-Changed to a ASUS PCE-N15 PCI adapter , which gives me the same problems.. Now it is disabled.

I attached MiniToolBox results and an image of the given problem. Thanks for the help guys.

Having this problem for 2+ weeks now!!! I think this problem started when i restored my router to factory setting, my router is Netgear WGR614v6. Thanks

Yoga 500 - 14IBD has a problem of falling screw. Randomly without intervention of the user, screws just keep loosening and falling. I have already seen lot of similar complaints on Lenovo laptops for which the company has not taken any appropriate measure or at least it looks like the company is ignoring the problem. I have sent an email for support on this issue 10 days ago with Incident number: 171204-000033. But no response at all! The laptop is German version and Medion is responsible for service of Lenovo laptops (at least for this model of laptop) in Germany. Whom should I contact? Until last year there used to be option to call up or get called up for service which seems have been abandoned by Lenovo/Medion recently. Where should I contact to get proper service? Who can honour the Warranty service?

Hey all,
Im trying to port forward to allow cod4 to connect through box live. However, every time I try I get the above error.. Port in coflict with another service.
Now there are two ports required to be forwarded, 88 or 3074, from the top of my head. Port 88 works perfectly, however 3074 is the issue. Ive checked wiki for all the apps that use ports, and there was just one under 3074; Xbox Live. So I think that my router is still logging it as forwarded, just to the wrong ip as I changed it.
I have factory defaulted the xbox, but still the same problem.
Is there anyway I can clear this port froward issue? I would not want to hard reset my router as, trust me, its a lot of work getting the router back without a setup cd! Or maybe theres another way round which doesnt require a reset.
Thanks in advance for any help, no online is killing me

EDIT- because of this, I get a strict nat, which lowers my download speed, doesnt let me find many games at all online, etc. So any help really would be appreciated.

A:Port in coflict with another service

have checked port triggering - which has no problems
have tried multiple ips, which again shows the same error
any help would really be appreciated as my son is dying to get on it again
