Q: old copy of Microsoft Developer Network

This old copy won't work on Windows 7 Pro.
Library - Visual studio 97
What can I do about that?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You could install Microsoft's Virtual PC and XP Mode to install any legacy software that won't run under Windows 7.

Is there a program out there that allows you to copy files off of a Microsoft Domain Network to your computer which would lock the files on the server so noone else can have the file and change it while you are in it?? Along with that, notifying the person trying to get access to the file, who has it open at that time??

Thanks!

A:Copy/Locking Files on a Microsoft Network

there are very few programs that work over the windows networking protocall(SMB/CIFS) because Microsnot has never released the details of it. I would recomend using FTP with the server set up to only alow one connection at a time. win 98 and up can integrate an FTP folder as a normal drive.

When I click on the "developer" tab I get redirected to the Sign In page - however, upon selecting my profile, I get redirected back to the Guidance tab on Security Updates page https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/. and
I am stuck in this loop. This happens both with the old and the new Sign In experience. No way to access the developer info.
What can I do?

Hello again,

I found out that these extensions are supposed to make it where I can export my access databases as .exe files. This would be great, since then I could just have a .exe for ones in the office to run, so that no one could edit forms, tables, etc.

Now, I googled it, and got this site. I can't seem to find where to actually download it however.

Is this a good fix for what I am wanting to do? This way, everyone in the office wouldn't have to have access, they could just run the .exe, and that would allow them to use the forms just as they would if they had the database itself.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hello all,
I am having an issue accessing the Developer API access page within the Microsoft Security Response Center website (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/msrc). When I click on Customer Guidance > Developer API access, or navigate to https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/developer,
my browser first asks me to sign in and click which account I would like to use. I click my desired account, and it briefly redirects to the Microsoft Developer API Access page, but then after a split-second it redirects me back to the sign-in page. Is it
a requirement to have a specific type of email associated with the Microsoft account in order to get past this?

Thank you for your help!

Hey everybody

I've been trying to figure this out for a while, but just can't seem to get it to work right.

I have the Microsoft Office Access 2003 Developer Extensions, which has a packaging wizard, that is used to package up a Access database and include a runtime environment, so users without access on their computer can use a database.

I have access on the computer in my office, so I take the file I want to package, and run the wizard, creating a setup file for the database and runtime. Now, I go over to the server, run the setup program, and have it installed on the server.

I can run the database on the server fine. I open it up, it runs in runtime mode, just as the package wizard said it should, and I can do whatever I want. The problem I am having is, I try to create a share, so that I can share this program with users on the network.

When I do this, it just doesn't work right. It is saying that it can't find the file "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\ifg_agent_database\ifg_agents_modified_10_13_05.mdb"

Any ideas on what is going on?

Dear forum readers,

I have a problem when trying to install:

Windows 8 Developer Preview with developer tools English, 64-bit (x64)

When using the DVD tool from Microsoft as explained in one of the tutorials in this forum,
I receive the following error message:

The disc does not have sufficient free space.

I use a 4.7GB DVD disc, and the size of the Windows 8 Developer Preview with tools English, 64-bit (x64) iso file
size is: 4.83 GB.

Of-course this is the source of my problem, and i need a way to fix it.

What i am doing currently, is downloading the Windows 8 Developer Preview without tools.

I have read some solutions, but they did not offer what i am looking for.

I need a way to install the complete version with developer tools, including:

64-bit Windows 8 Developer Preview
Windows SDK for Metro style apps
Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Express for Windows 8 Developer Preview
Microsoft Expression Blend 5 Developer Preview
28 Metro style apps including the BUILD Conference app

I only have a normal DVD drive, no USB stick of the required size, but I have a second hard-disk with sufficient space.
AND I have an external USB hard-disk with sufficient space.

Tried to install from local hard-disk in Windows 7 by using the setup.exe in the sources directory, gives me the following error:

Whats the recommended installation procedure for installing drivers for specific hardware from a developers site or using the windows 7 default drivers?

For example when I install my windows 7 x64 Betas it found and installed the drivers for my chipset and everything fine. However browsing my Motherboard manufactures website I see they Drivers for chipset, audio, and other components I can download.

Would you recommend I stick with Microsoft drivers or use the drivers on the developers site?

If there's no seven drivers from mfg, stick with MS's.

If there is seven drivers from mfg, stick with mfg's.

If there's no seven drivers from either MS or MFG throw vista/xp drivers.

I need a new, CLEAN copy of Microsoft KMS activator.  My 2.4.9 version has been having problems lately on Office 2010, and I think it's time to get a newer version, 2.5.2 or higher. Predictably, most of the sites I see that claim to have it are scams, trying to get me to download all sorts of junk.  Anyone got access to a legit download link of it?  Thanks.

I pruchased a refurbished Dell desktop computer about 3 years ago. When I purchased the computer it was already programed with windowsxp office. About a month ago I caught a virus which caused me to have to get the computer reprogramed I didn't take it to the store I brought it from I took it to a repair shop.... to make a long story short, they gave me what I thought was a new windows program everything worked fine until yesterday. I went to log on and a message pops up on the log in screen that says this copy of windows must be activated with microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate windows? Yes No. When I choose Yes it goes to the home page and after maybe 20 seconds a window comes and say this windows product has already been activated please click ok to exit. Then I cliick ok and it logs back out. I have been searching the internet left and right I have tried calling the people who reprogramed my computer only to find out the person who did it is terminally ill and in the hospital in ic. I have tried calling dell and microsoft and no one has an answer they just keep transfering me to nowhere. I don't have the windows disk and no way to get it. Is there any way I may be able to save my computer with out a disk is there a way that I can do it manually? I have tried to restore in safe mode but the latest date it gives me is 1/3/2009 which is the day before yesterday. Can someone please help me? A:this copy of windows must be activated with microsoft before you can log in?????

Ive ran into that problem before...

The only way that i could find to fix this was to reformat the computer and start over.

But you said you didnt have the windows disk that came with it. Is there a windows licence on the case anywhere? if so then call microsoft and explain your deal and they can send you a disk without a licence for a little bit of money. It beats paying full price for it.

If you dont have a licence for windows you will have to buy a new copy of windows...

If you have to buy a new copy of windows you might look into just geting windows 7 if your machine isnt to old and will support it.

I've been experiencing difficulties with the copy & paste function in Word. This is a recent development and I don't know the cause of it.
Whenever I try to copy an object/picture in Word and especially from Word to another program like Powerpoint, the image that is copied is the last copied image.
For example: Let's say that I copied a butterfly from Word to Powerpoint. The butterfly pasted successfully. Next, I copy a kitten from Word but in Powerpoint the butterfly is pasted again. This happens every time I try to copy/paste a new image.
I checked the clipboard and can see that the image of the butterfly is stored there, even though I copied the kitten. I hit "clear all" and copied the kitten again and clipboard stores the butterfly instead.

How do I correct this problem? Since this never happened before, what could I have inadvertently done to cause this error? Thank you for your help.

I have Windows Vista 32-bit OEM and want to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I brought a copy (Full version) on Amazon via a third party seller but when i put in the installation disc a message pops up basically telling me that i have the wrong disc.

I contacted Microsoft, gave them my product key - and was told that I had been sold an illegal copy.

I asked how this was and they told me that the OS was sold for business PC's only. The disc knows from boot up that my PC is not suitable...

How is this? It doesn't even allow me to enter the product key. The disc won't even boot.

Anyone else had or heard about this problem?

A:Microsoft says i have an illegal copy of Windows 7...

You can't do an upgrade from x86 to x64, so it would make sense that you'd get a message if you tried running it in Windows. I don't know why people try installing the OS from within an OS...but I digress.

The fact that the DVD won't boot is what's troubling. Is the disc real, with the Microsoft holograph? If it definitely doesn't boot, yet other discs boot fine on your system, I'd go back to amazon for a refund. Too many people are getting burned by buying discs from unreliable or unknown sources. I know this wouldn't apply to Amazon, but given they are selling from unknown third-parties...it is no better than Ebay.

Try and get a refund from Amazon, and then buy a legit copy from a known, valid source, such as Newegg, MicroCenter, etc.

I often find that when I copy some text, a few letters long, which has different fonts, different font size, and different colours all in it, when I try to paste it, it comes out in a completely different font, different font sizes, and different colours - most times.
Sometimes it will paste correctly as original, then sometimes in comes out in the strangely different font and colours etc.
If I copy the entire line that this text is on, it always pastes out correctly, as original.
But when I just copy a small piece of the text (which has different fonts in it, etc), it comes out all peculiar.
I do not know what to do.
Please advise...

If I remember after spending all day trying to get my frigging computer to work, I tried using the windows repair on my CD. Waited for it to finish and some error came up somewhere in there with"Com+ Setup Error" and "Setup failed while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\regsvr32 /s"There was A LOT more of stuff there but yeah..Continued with the installation and tried to boot up, it said that "This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can continue" clicked yes and it froze to desktop. Rebooted and went to System Restore command prompt thinger on the disk. Typed inBootcfg /listBootcfg /rebuildThen yThen Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Versionthen /fastdetect/exitRebooted and still didn't work on either one. I really hope I can save this computer without formatting.. x_x"And that is where I'm stuck at right now. Would love some help.EDIT: Oh and a process keeps crashing called "Auto Update" have no idea what it is but it's crashing.

We recently purchased 'Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003'. There is a large blurb on the outside of the package: 'Licenced for Noncommercial Use on up to 3 home PCs', so we thought 'hey, three for the price of one, good deal!' Well, not so.

We bought it and loaded it on my daughter's laptop without a problem. But when I tried to load it into my laptop, the CD drive hums and buzzes a while and then everything stops. When I go to the CD drive on 'My Computer' it won't even acknowledge that there is a disc in the drive.

I just spent two hours trying to get help from MS Corp through accessing their web site at www.support.microsoft.com. But no luck there: apparently I need the product ID (not the key, that is something different I believe) and I can't immediately get that because it is only available from the installed product (my daughter is now gone to university, and phone not yet installed) Well, I will keep trying, but I don't know if we will ever get the second and third copies of this program installed on our other computers.

I am posting this not for help: I know I am beyond that at this stage. Just to remind all that the [email protected]#$ Microsoft products are the biggest pain! If they tell you you can load more than one copy of their product, well, make sure the retailer takes returns in case it doesn't pan out this way. We all know that IE, Firefox, etc have the option to copy the download link of an ongoing download job. But it seems Microsoft had something really great in mind and has apparently removed that feature from Microsoft Edge I wonder wheres the 'Edge'??

Can someone please tell me how to bring back the useful 'copy download link' option of an ongoing download link in Edge?

Hello,

I tried downloading some software yesterday and ended up downloading a .zip file . After i extracted it, my Antivirus immediately detected it as malware and moved it to the chest. I immediately deleted the downloaded file but the damage had already been done.

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Dsq\network\sysnetwk.exe

There is a suspicious file created in the above said path which is constantly been detected by my Antivirus software. I tried manually deleting the files but it pops back again after I close and open the file location.

I read some of your earlier replies to these kind of problems and tried removing. But I was not successful in removing the malware.

So here I have attached the FRST Logs for your reference.

I have also downloaded the Zemana Antimalware suggested by you and scanned my PC. It detected many proxy settings and a few other files also.
I am also uploading the Zemana Antimalware Scan Log for your reference..

Thanking you in advance for your consideration.

Hope to get a speedy reply!

Copying a large file tree over the network using traditional methods such as explorer drag & drop is no longer feasible. Does anyone know of good free(and hopefully easy to use) software for coping large clumps of files over the Lan using B.I.T.S. ??

I have a folder tree with about 20 GB of crap in it that I'm not ready to throw away. Doing a backup using an image backup program with an Exclude filter, well, the listing of the excluded files takes longer than the backup operation!! So, back to the old method of moving the clump of junk onto the external first, then doing the backup.
But wait!! When I try to do the move with Explorer drag & drop, the machine looks like it's going to spend a few hours thinking about what it wants to do before it even starts to copy anything over the network.

There's got to be an easier way than plugging the external directly into the machine with the file clump. I see this thing in Windows called B.I.T.S. and it sounds like something that might be useful in this situation. But I don't know of any free network copy software that uses it. Google just gets me MS KB error reports about B.I.T.S.

Anyone using the background transfer gizmo?

A:network copy app using B.I.T.S. ??

hmmmmmmm looks like the best shot is RichCopy. I'll give it a try if my hd ever stops churning.

When I was using win98 I was about to set up a dos batch file that would copy a file from that machine to anoter across a network. this allowed me to have one icon to copy a file (which is done daily) without having to click and drag. Is there anyway to do that with win2000?

For some reason the DOS copy command does not work. The DOS statement is

copy C:file.* \\BASEMENT\*.*

This worked on win98 but DOS cannot find \\BASEMENT

Thanks

Greetings!

Hey has anybody gotten any blue's on a network copy? Even a regular copy? I've only encountered one so far. I think I'll try the SP1 RC and see if that helps. I did notice that the copy/move is a bit on the whack side. Moving 2K+ files that take up 1.5Gb should not take 3 hours. When the copy started it just sat there for 5 minutes before it started copying.

The the blue screens. I guess I get the 180 days of free support .. might as well use it. I got three minidumps like to know what they are and solve the problem.

Any insight is welcomed!

Regards!

A:BSOD on a network copy

Hi Mrbiggz,
When you get a blue screen it should read STOP:0x00000XX or something to that effect. Need that code to help figure out the issue. You can look in the System or Application event log for this error as well. Let us know. Thanks

My Win 7 shows 2 network adapters in device manager...in my Acer ao 722 net book. My desktop has XP and only shows one adapter..I believe one of the adapters in the Acer net book is wireless ( being a new machine ) and the desktop is an older pc with a wired adapter. Could i copy the wireless adapter and paste it into my Desktop, to enable wireless connections? Obviously, we are not talking about actual cards, they are all integrated into the Motherboard.

A:Can I copy a network adapter

Desktop computers don't usually come with wireless networking adapters built into the motherboards.
