Preferred Solution: ProBook 6570b BIOS admin password reset

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, Unfortunately I'm not aware of any 3rd party utilities that work with this particular Model, however if you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password. Regards, DP-K

A:Hp4540 s probook bios admin password

Hello, Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. If you do not know the existing password for BIOS or you have forgotten in, here are your options: - Consumer class notebooks :  try to enter the BIOS and enter the password wrong 3 times. System disabled message will appear with a code. Please, write down this system disabled code and visit www.bios-pw.orgEnter the code and you will receive a response code.  Please, use the response code for HP to clear the system disabled BIOS and enter the BIOS and then modify passwords as per your choice. - Business class notebooks : most business class notebooks (including yours Probook) have better security and the method described above will not work as far as I know. You will have to contact HP Support for assistance on removing the password. Here is how >> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html  Please, provide back your feedback and do not hesitate to post back if you need further assistance

Hi! I've got an HP 6560b that I need help resetting the BIOS password on. Clearing the CMOS doesn't work since the password apparently is stored in the TPM chip, and you need a special file to reflash it. Could anyone please help me with that?I'll of course give out the S/N and UUID on request. Thanks in advance!

@PentiumMMX Contact HP and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.  http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/contact_us.html When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request. Or download these files. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zu4kdgxm052l87d/AAAMi-kfX4AVH8oTCbsOM4X9a?dl=0 Insert clean USB flash drive. Then run USB Image tool. Choose the flash drive then click on RESTORE. After restore remove flash drive. Insert flash drive into locked laptop and boot. ?If HDD is installed remove before booting.? At C:\OUTPUT   type CD.. ?Then hit enter? Type HPBR   ?Then hit enter? First thing is to save your settings. Select #3 re-program. Press ?S? to save system information. Type HPBR and hit enter. Since your model is not listed select ?SHOTGUN.? After reboot repeat ?SHOTGUN? a second time. If you cannot boot from USB flash drive use the Image tool to build a HDD. Then use the drive to boot the program on the locked laptop.  REO I must inform you that these services are not endorsed by HP, and that HP is not responsible for any damage that may arise to your system by using these services. Please be aware that you do this at your own risk.

A:BIOS Admin Password Reset

Hi, Your notebook is producing a hexadecimal halt code which is stored in ram as a 'one off' and will be re-calculated after a reboot.  This indicates you have one of the later AMI bios's and unfortunately none of the current code generators will work for this - surprisingly, you can still remove a power on password from the machine by removing the rtc cell ( leave the power board connected ) then hold down the power button for 60 seconds before re-inserting the rtc. The bad news is that the rtc is on the 'wrong' side of the system board so will require quite a lot of disassembly - see Page 115 of your Maintenance & Service Guide. Regards, DP-K

Hello, I can enter my HP laptop BIOS as guest, but not as Admin.I bought the laptop with the package opened, at a discounted price, but it had a BIOS Admin password set by the PC store. I want to reset this password. I contacted the Romanian HP Support Center and a gentleman told me I have to wait for the US support team to create a binary file that will allow me to reset the password.I waited for approximately 10 days without ANY feedback. The PC store told me I can send the laptop to them to try and reset the password, but I would rather reset the password myself. Does it take such a long time to create that executable? I appreciate any help. Thank you.

A:reset BIOS Admin password

Hello @hpprobook650g1,  We are sorry as there is no master password or generator for EliteBooks or ProBooks. HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks  or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.  Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password. SMC file made as per the unit.                                    When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.   Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again !!  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easier for other people to find solutions by marking a Reply 'Accept as Solution' if it solves your problem. Thank You,GBL84I am not an HP Employee

Hi, Unfortunately the hashing routine for any codes that start with a 'i' have changed, so at the moment your options are down to Contacting HP support. or You can still remove a power on password by removing the rtc cell, then holding down the power button for 60 seconds before re-inserting the rtc - the procedure for removing the rtc can be found on Page 54 of your Maintenance & Service Guide. Regards, DP-K

We have two XPS12 9Q33 units that have the BIOS Admin password set, but no one left in the department knows the password. We've tried all the normal variants to no avail.
Yesterday I spoke with out of warranty support, and the gentleman was unable to help as from his documentation this computer has a Phoenix BIOS, while in reality all the units we have are AMI BIOS. We have 12 of these units, but only these two have the admin password set.
Does anyone know of a way to reset the BIOS ADMIN password? Not the system password, we have that, it's specifically the ADMIN password. Support yesterday was very frustrating in trying to get them to simply listen to what our problem was so I gave up on that and came here.

so, i have a 6530B that i got from a relative, and i must say, it is extremly difficult to work with... I want to do a factory restore, and to do so i need to get through the bios admin password. I cant even boot from a USB to do a fresh install... Would it be easier to have HP support help me with the bios password, or should i just put in a new HD and do a fresh install, using another pc as a surrogate for the install(cant get past bios on tis one)? from what ive read spending the day trying to find a way around the password, that there really is no workaround... Kind of obnoxious... but its a business machine so makes sense...

A:How to reset bios admin password HP Elitebook 8440p

SOLUTION: This is what I did and worked like a dream. Contacted HP, told them the problem. They "escalated the case," took my info. The next day I was emailed a file called SMC.bin. It is formatted specifically for my machine, has to match the UUID. Copied file to FAT 32 formatted jump drive, booted it as per the email instructions, reset bios password.I did this via chat on HP's website.Screwing with the bios battery will not work on Elitebook...

Hello I Have problem with  Bios password in HP 6570B Can any one help my  Product:   A5E64AVSERIAL:     5CB2382W85

A:BIOS PASSWORD HP 6570B

Hi, Unfortunately,  business machines have more stringent security than consumer models - they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial No. and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.  Additionally, there are no 3rd party utilities that will work for this particular Model. If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password. Regards, DP-K

Hi Yet again, Windows is frustratingly taking up all of my time and I have tried everything google has to offer to try and fix it but it seems like no one has screwed up as much as I have on whatever forum. Let me explain the problem: I'm trying to set my account to administrator because I can't install programs, change account settings, make any changes through CMD without getting the system error 5 access denied message and I can't set the administrator account through CMD either. I also don't have the permission to change anything in regedit and I can't even reset my pc because it requires an administrator password which I don't have, is not "nothing" nor is it administrator or admin or password and I can't change it through cmd either. I can't even access the administrator account because it is disabled and even with an elevated cmd I can't activate the "hidden" administrator account. I've ran malwarebytes and superantispyware and I am now looking for the Gandalf of all Geeks to help me solve this problem. I'd immensely appreciate it!

The firm in which I work has a Lenovo PC with Windows 10 installed. There are two user profiles on the computer, the admin and another normal account without administration rights. We have only the password of the account without administrator rights.

The network administrator had left the company surprisingly in without giving the administrator password of the PC and we cannot contact him anymore.

Now we want to install another programme and we cannot do this without an administrator account.

I disabled secure boot and have tried to boot the PC with an Linux USB Stick, but it do not boot from the stick.

Any suggestion how I either can reset the password of the administrator account or create an new account with administrator rights.

A:Windows 10 admin password reset or new account with admin rights

Although there may be techniques to recover a lost password it is forum policy that we do not discuss these here - your best bet would be to visit a local security specialist and get them to recover/reset it for you - and a change to the policy for the replacement admin may be a good idea, I always wrote a list of all passwords and stored it with the Managing Director and also in a fireproof safe

Afternoon,

Having recently (today) inherited my company's IT support role (Without any real training / qualifications ) I'm coming across a number of small issues, one of which is the following:

All machines at my company are independently managed by their own (local) Administrator account, across the board the Username and Pass to access the Admin account is the same... except for a single machine.

It seems this machine has a differing password to the other machines, unfortunately the previous administrator is no longer contactable, I however require access to the administrator account. To the best of my knowledge he didn't set-up a Password Reset Disk either.

I've read about various 3rd party tools which can enable the resetting of the Administrator Password but am loathe to try them without first hand confirmation of their validity etc (On my head be it and so forth)

Is there any method to determine what the Admin pass may be, or should I plump for a 3rd party tool to aid in the resetting of the pass? If so, does anyone have any suggestions for which to use?

If it makes any difference, the machines are networked to a Mac Xserve server - though as I understand it, I wont be able to access locally stored passwords through the server itself?

Many thanks for any light that can be shed upon this issue

Mike

A:Fingerprint Scanner on Probook 6570b

Hi: I believe you need to install the HP Client Security Manager software in order to enroll and login with your fingerprint. HP Client Security Manager provides enhanced Windows login and website single-sign-on capabilities. Security Manager is also the host for HP Client Security plugins, and therefore should be installed before other Client Security modules. This package is provided for supported models running a supported operating system. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp74001-74500/sp74101.exe

I recently picked up a Probook 6570b.  So far I have upgraded it with a 240gb SSD and have installed a 1TB HDD in the optical bay. The system board has non-upgradeable Intel HD 4000 graphics but I upgraded to 8GB RAM to help with this. The last possible upgrade would be the CPU.I have seen plenty of threads on this laptop that have a cut-and-paste list of processor options from the HP website so I know what the manufacturer recommends. The problem is, I want to know what others have tried and what their results were. I have seen similar HP laptops that went from 35w to 45w processors and even i5 dual core to i7 quad core processors but I've never seen anyone post results of attempts to upgrade the 6570b in a similar way. The reason I am looking to upgrade above the recommended CPU performance is because the best processor recommended for this machine is the i7-3540M which is only dual core. This machine is ivy bridge with QM77 chipset and socket G2, all of which will support quad core. I was looking at the low power i7 QM chips to keep the CPU wattage the same but there are only two that will work and they go for over $200 on eBay. If I am able to run a 45w quad core, I'll get better performance at about half the price. So, has anyone ever tried something like a 3630QM or ideally, a 3840QM chip in one of these Probooks? If so, how were the results? If no, is there an online community that may be better suited to assist with this project? So here is a little adde... Read more

I just bought a HP ProBook 6570b laptop 2nd hand from a local college who was moving to a new campus and upgrading to new computers/laptops. Anyway, I bought this computer and it was reset to factory settings. It had Windows 7 and when I first turned it on it had a free upgrade to Windows 10 which I did upgrade to...though now I've seen a couple places people saying Windows 10 is not good? The main point I guess is that I don't know a lot about the functions and capabilities of the computer and what all it comes with. I have several questions but I have 3 questions to start with. 1. I tried putting icons on the desktop but have noticed that the touchpad allows you to zoom in and out much like on your phone. When I do this (usually by accident) all of the icons become huge and then when I zoom back out, they are all in different places. Is there a way to turn off this zoom function? While it may be handy for certain things, overall I've found it to be very hindering to basic use of the laptop.  2. I've noticed that the screen orientation will often turn. These both seem to be functions that are compatible for a phone or tablet. However, again it becomes annoying when I'm just trying to use it as a laptop. Is there a way to disable this function ? I know it has a "Tablet Mode" which I would possibly be interested in using sometimes, which brings me to my next question... 3. Does this computer come with touchscreen capabilities? It has seems to have all the o... Read more

A:boot order in Hp ProBook 6570b

Hi

Are you using any of the preboot security tools? Like encryption, face recognition, fingerprint, etc. I think it is called HP ProtectTools.

You may need to disable those.

In addition, you may need to disable secureboot if that is turned on (I would expect it on that computer).
