I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

UPDATE: the issue seems to extend to all usb peripherals, which work fine in bios, but then stop working after the splash screen. this includes a usb wifi aerial :S i cant even get into safe mode (at least any way that i know of) as the keyboard is dead before the nessessary fkey can be pressed.

I recently started using Oracle VM VirtualBox to run other operating systems within Windows 7 (for running old games). For this, I have virtualization enabled in my bios (instructed to do so in the VirtualBox manual).

I also use digital multitrack recording software and hardware to create music, which I like to devote as much system resources as possible to when running (disable Internet connection, turn off firewall and anti-virus, close real-time defragmenter, etc.). Multitrack recording really pushes hard drive access, and the sound processors place heavy demand on the CPU.

My question is: Does the virtualization technology take up any resources, or slow my system down any? Would there be any benefit in disabling virtualization in the bios when I'm recording?

Thanks!
~Syn~

Hi, Rapidly tapping the ESC key after power on should get you to Startup Menu and from there you can select Computer Setup (bios). If you can't get to the Startup memu using the ESC key then you will need to take a longer route to get into the UEFI settings.  Review this procedure. The below image is reflective for the Leeds motherboard in your PC. There is not a lot of differences between the below image and that which Paul had posted.  You will need to change the Disable to Enable and then save the settings. The other changes will require Windows 8 Pro or higher and also to enable the function under Turn Windows Features On or Off.

I'm struggling to enable VT-x on Lenovo X1 Yoga despite having executed a lot of troubleshooting steps. When I go to BIOS I see two options:- Intel (R) Virtualization Techonology- Intel (R) VT-d FeatureThe weird thing is that when I set Enabled on the first one, the Intel Processor Identification Utility and haxm_check.exe tells me I don't have VT support! If I disable "Intel (R) Virtualization Techonology" in the BIOS then the tools tell me I have VT support. Problem is, despite the tools saying it is available (but only when it is Disabled in the BIOS), the intelhaxm-android.exe setup fails with the message:"This computer meets the requirements for HAXM, but Intel Virtualization Techonology (VTx) is not turned on."The "Hyper-V Platform"  on Turn Windows features 'on or off gets greyed out too, which may indicate the VT is not enabled. I have Hyper-V disabled; Performed multiple cool shutdowns; Updated BIOS; Nothing worked.Any help would be appreciated.Thank you.  The only way to make Windows 10 recognize VT is to disable it on BIOS!!!Having it disabled on BIOS Intel tools say it is supported (otherwise it shows no support)However, it is seen as disabledAnd HAXM does not install The BIOS version is up to dateHyper-V is disabled

Hi All,

I have a Satellite Pro P100 P/N PSPA4E-00X00HEN on which I have just installed Windows 7 RC.

I desperately need to run Virtual PC 2007 (other versions won't work) on it but it wants Assisted-Hardware Virtualization enables in the BIOS (Phoenix Technologies V4.70).

I have just updated to the latest BIOS version but it doesn't have the facility to enable AHV in it.
I have checked the processor specifications and it does have the Intel Virtualization Technology facility.

From what I have read up on the internet, although the Processor is capable the manufacturers on the computers/notebooks, in this case Toshiba, program the BIOS to their liking which will either enable or disable certain features.

What I would like to find out is, is there going to be another upgrade to enable Virtualization or is there another way to do it.

Many thanks in advance.

A:Satellite Pro P100 - How to enable Intel Virtualization Technology

Hi

From my knowledge the usage of Virtual PC 2007 does not require a virtual technology supported by hardware (CPU).
I used Virtual PC and Virtual Machine on PC without the VT capability.

But you are right. The Intel CORE2 DUO T7400(2.16GHZ) CPU supports the VT
http://ark.intel.com/cpu.aspx?groupId=27256

Unfortunately from my knowledge the P100 BIOS does not support the option to enable/disable the VT.

I can log on correctly, and join games normally. However, after I click the join game button, and the select class and spawn point menu comes up, my keyboard and mouse stop working in Battlefield 2. I can alt-tab out normally, and my keyboard and mouse will continue to work outside of Battlefield, and player icons and control points continue to change on the selection menu, but I cannot move my mouse or keyboard to even exit to the main menu. I am at a complete loss for what to do.

A:No Keyboard or Mouse Input

I am currently experiencing a similar problem with the Demo version. I have previously been able to play with no problems, until recently. I had changed nothing in the menu's, nor changed my mouse/keyboard/joystick or any drivers.
Originally, i was having the exact same problem, so i tried an un-install/re-install to see if this would fix the problem, now however, i can use my keyboard, but my mouse still refuses to respond while trying to select a spawn point.
I am totally confused by this, as my mouse also works fine when i alt+tab out to desktop.

Any help will be greatly recieved,

Thanks.

hello & welcome to TSF ,

have you tried to use PS/2 devices( wired )

normally when you have probs with wireless devices it is best to go back to the default type (wired ) then go to the device manager and check to see if you have any driver issues then try reinstalling the software if your drivers are okay

That is a very good question. The AMD A8 PRO-7600B  APU does have virtualization technology as a feature. According to the Maintenance & Service Guide on page 56, that feature can be enabled in the System Security tab. The manual does say that the options are hardware dependent. I'm having a problem with the interactions between the mouse and keyboard and the computer. When using the scroll wheel, the webpage that I'm viewing will begin to zoom in and out. Clicking the scroll wheel usually fixes the issue. Sometimes I will left click to open a shortcut and receive the properties box, so in order to open anything I have to right click and use the open option. Sometimes clicking on anything will result in the File option opening at the cursors location and refuse to leave, instead just flickering. Keyboard works for awhile and then refuses to respond correctly, opening dialog boxes, not responding, etc.

Reinstalled all drivers, rebooted system, cleaned the inside of the computer, tried other mice and keyboards all with the same effect.

Hello,
I am trying to reuse a old HP Compaq machine as a CCTV server using iSpy: Open Source Camera Security Software.

Whenever I boot up the machine, everything is normal, UNTIL I get to the (Windows 9x style) login page, when mouse and keyboard do not work.

The keyboard works fine in the BIOS, but the mouse can't be tested.

I have a Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1a CD.
The OS on the HP is Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3.

I am without broadband, using a dongle to rely on for internet, so ISOs and torrents are a big no no.

This is using a wireless keyboard and a wired mouse, both USB. As I said above, the keyboard works fine in the BIOS. Both keyboard and mouse work on a Windows 8.1 machine, so I know it is the computer's problem.
Any ideas? Thanks,

I hope I'm not wasting your time here, as I'm not positive this is a virus/malware/keylogger/whatever issue, but I came here knowing you're all knowledgeable in this and hoping you could at least cross this as an issue off the list. Recently I've had issues (I've actually only played Borderlands and Dragon Age: Origins to test this) with my input being lagged or delayed, not sure how to put it. Basically, if I'm standing still looking around, everything is fine, however, when I start moving my character, once I release the button (whether it be the movement keys or the mouse button while looking around) it carries on for anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds. I've tried many different game/performance things, such as Vsync and Mouse Smoothing etc. Anyways, I'm STILL waiting on the RootRepeal to finish (boy this has taken all day), but I'm hoping the DDS may lead to something while I wait. Thanks in advance.

*EDIT* I added a HijackThis log for a bit more info until this RootRepeal is done.

Hi.So as the title states, I'm having a problem with mouse/keyboard input.  Occasionally (usually if I'm doing something that puts the CPU under load, not necessarily full load, but under load.), my keyboard and mouse will get this delay where if I press a key or press a mouse button, the computer doesn't seem to register it until a second or two later.  It will normally happen now and again in short bursts, not really something that happens consistently and continuously for a long and extended period of time.(Okay, so I'm gonna put the problem into a small list, since it's a little easier for me this way)>Pressing a button on the keyboard or mouse, the computer will not do anything with the input until a second or two later.  Example: Pressing forward, backward, then side-strafe in a game will cause it to not register for a second or two, then I'll move forward, backward, then sideways after that 1-2 seconds.  Typing in something like Trillian will cause it to register the first few keystrokes slowly, and then suddenly type everything out in a quick burst.>Sometimes, if I press a button quickly and not for an extended period of time, the computer will act as if I held it down for several seconds once it registers.>If I press enough buttons while the delay is still going or if the keystrokes are starting to register, the computer beeps. I've got filter keys, sticky keys, and bounce keys turned off completely with no way to activate them excep... Good day,

Everything on my computer was fine this morning when I left for week, but upon my return I noticed that my keyboard/mouse wasn't working. I restarted my computer and confirmed that my keyboard works in the bios and whatnot, but when I get to the windows login screen, I get no response from the keyboard or mouse.

The mouse is a simple USB one, and I'm using a PS/2 keyboard, so I doubt it's some sort of sudden driver issue.
I tried logging into safemode, and I get the same result, can't move my mouse or use my keyboard.

Does anyone have any idea how to possibly fix this issue? I'm unable to restore from an earlier state either.

Thanks in advance for the help.

A:Sudden loss of keyboard/mouse input

Do you have a Windows Disk? If so you can boot to that and choose the repair option instead of the install.
If you don't have a Windows disk, can try another mouse and keyboard. If another mouse and keyboard work then the keyboard and mouse drivers can be removed and windows will automatically reinstall them on boot.

This was part two of a thread I started earlier today, and thought the problem was fixed and labeled it solved. Ha!
Acer T180 2.2 GHz Athlon 64

My optical mouse (USB) that I've used since day one on my month-old computer in place of the supplied PS/2 mouse began to fail last night. I replaced it with the PS/2 model, and it worked fine. I put the computer into hibernation, bumped the mouse as I got up, and it returned from hibernation. Weird. After checking all the background processes and power options and finding nothing new or unusual, tried a System Restore, with no change. I hooked up the optical mouse again, and it didn't return from hibernation with mouse movement. I thought I'd just get a new optical mouse and forget about the experience. After declaring my problem solved, tonight out of curiosity I hit a key on the PS/2 keyboard, and lo and behold, it returned from hibernation again. I now remember the computer starting up from hibernation the day after I got it, and I'm sure I probably elbowed the keyboard. It's definitely in hibernation and not standby, I've compared the two states and standby is much quicker. I know you can return from standby with mouse or keyboard input, but I've never heard of being able to do so in hibernation. I even used msconfig to disable all the Acer Empowering Technology startup processes to see if that changed the behavior. It d... Read more
