Belkin 4 port High Speed USB hub

Q: Belkin 4 port High Speed USB hub

Anyone out there help...... does a usb high speed hub have to be connected to mains electricity to make it work with a usb 1.1 port at optimal speed?
Thanking you in anticipation of reply

Preferred Solution: Belkin 4 port High Speed USB hub

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It is a powered hub so it has to be connected to power to work at all.

Hello. I'm a novice at this. Have connected my main desk top successfully to broadband internet via Belkin Wirelss G Router and Belkin Desktop Network PCI Card. Cannot get second desk top to connect to broadband intenet. Appears to be connected ok to the router but not to the internet. Would appreciate any suggestions as to where I might start looking.

A:Problem networking via Belkin ADSL Modem with High Speed Mode Wirelss G Router

USUALLY, you wire the system to the router first and configure the router
to access your ISP. Typically, you use your bowser to access and log-in to the device.
Once that is working, you enable the wireless feature, set the SSID and your security keys.
Now your ready to configure the desktop to use the wireless.

I bought a 320 gb external hard drive for my wifes 4 year old Dell dimension 8200. It came with an 80 gb hard drive. I installed a 160 gb internal hard drive a couple of years ago. The motherboard would only recognize 120 GB. My wife downloads and shares movies so she need the new external drive. When I activate the external drive it tells me my Dell does not have a high speed USP port. Any opinions on how to update her computer would be appreciate. One other question; her computer came with 256 mg
PC800 RDRAM. I also need to add more ram. Is there a limit to how much additional RAM I can install? Thanks for any help.

I just purchased a Compaq Presario SR2044NX computer. It has four USB ports in the back and three in the front all identified as USB 2.0 ports. I have had several problems with devices plugged into them. I first noticed this with backup programs. The programs either run very slowly or freeze up with an error window appearing saying:

"The USB Mass Storage Device is a HI-SPEED USB device and will function at reduced speed when plugged into a non-HI-SPEED port." It further says "The hubs shown in bold type have free ports that can support the HI-SPEED USB device."

There is a picture showing the Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller not in bold.
Beneath that is USB Root Hub (8 ports) in bold.
Beneath that eight ports are shown, one of which will show the plugged in device, none of which are in bold.

I have experienced this with two different WD external drives and three different zip drives. All of these work fine on my HP laptop.

I called Compaq customer service and the man at first seemed unaware as to exactly what a USB port was. His supervisor suggested that I uninstall the USB ports and let them be re-detected. I tried this - didn't work.

I believe that this is a driver or settings problem. Can anyone here give me a clue?

- Bill

USUALLY, the front (or side) ports are USB 1.1 and those on the back panel are
USB 2.0, so plug your devices accordingly.

When cabled-up and visible via My Computer, go to your Device Mgr
and look at the USB devices. You should find your device under the controller
labelled "Usb 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller".

If not, use the Disconnect Device icon in the system try to STOP the device,
then unplug and move to another slot until it is associated with the USB 2.0 controller.

I was wondering if I could get some technical support.
I was using the system with the on board factory high speed data port, which connects to the cat 5 wire.
The next day the system would not connect to the internet. I checked the Cat 5 wire by hooking up my lap top and it works fine.
Usually when I have the ct 5 wire hooked up, the high speed data port has a little green light on it  lit up. Now that little green light is yellow.
I thought I could just hook up another high speed data port. So I opened the case and put in another high speed data port.  That doesn't work either and it doesn't light up.
QUESTION is there a way to turn on and off the ion board data port?  I think the non factory high speed data port just automatically works.
Anyone know how to turn on and off the on board
Thanks  scott burry

Running a Portege R930-1d0 through High speed port replicatior II.
Is it possible to output to dual displays?

A:Portege R930-1D0 + High speed port replicator II - dual monitor support

By ?dual display? do you mean the internal + external display or do you mean two external monitors?
The Hi speed port replicator II supports the RGB port as well as the display port and HDMI port but both (display port and HDMI) cannot be used simultaneously.

You can use the internal notebook?s HDMI port and for example one of the Hi speed port replicator II ports to connect another external monitor.

I have a laptop running XP home.I have plugged my new CD burner into the USB port and I am now getting the above message.I may be nuts, but I don't think I was getting this message 2 days ago when I first plugged the device in.
Device manager shows the followingno problems with devices)

USB root hub driver M/S 7/1/2001 V 5.1.2600.0
VIA rev5 or later USB universal host controller VIA technologies with same driver info

USB Mass storage device(cd burner)

Everything seems to be working fine.I am using the on board XP burning software with no problems.
If this is something that I can easily correct,I'd like to.

Have made no hardware or software changes after adding the burner.
Thanks for any info.

Recently, I reinstalled my Netgear wna3100 driver. Ever since then, I've been experiencing problems with high pings in games where I normally never had problems with. Pages load slowly even just the home page of Google.

I've attached my ipconfig picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:High download speed and signal, high ping in games, slow page loads

To Disable Selective Suspend:

open the control panel
go to power options (you may have to set view to small icons)
click change plan settings
in the window that opens:
click change plan settings
click change advanced power settings, expand usb and ensure usb selective suspend is disabled.

I would also (while the device is plugged in)
go into the control panel - system - device manager - click the properties for it and make sure it's set to always on there as well.
I don't think the ipconfig can tell us much here since it's a data rate problem of some sort and not a actual connection problem from the sound of it.

The two things I mention above will hopefully keep your system from putting the device in 'low power mode' which may , or may not help your current problem.

I'm also curious if your system has recently slowed down in any other ways?

Back before I re-installed Windows 7, I would get this message whenever I plugged my Ipod in: "hi speed USB device attached to a non hi speed hub" and synching would take an absolute age. The funny thing though is that my PC is high speed USB capable. I ignored it for ages until I recently re-installed Windows. Voila! my problem was solved and when I plugged in my Ipod, all was good. I got no message and synching was as fast as it should be.

Until now.

I just plugged my Android phone in, and Windows said it couldn't find drivers for it, so I set it to automatically find them, which it did. As soon as it registered my phone, I got the dreaded "hi speed USB device attached to a non hi speed hub". Now when I plug my Ipod in, I'm getting that message again and synching has gone back to a snails pace. I went back and changed the "Automatically find drivers" back to the default setting it was on, but that has changed nothing.

What's up here, and how do I fix it? I'm using the same USB port the whole time and my PC is clearly capable of utilizing high speed, it just seems that plugging in my phone has done something to screw it all up. Any help would be MUCH appreciated as it will save me running off to work in the morning without my new podcasts cause synching is too slow.

I have this very annoying problem and I'm really out of hopes. I don't know what to do anymore. I'll make a summary of the problem and will be as concise as possible

So I have this Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop with a broadband connection (direct cable, no router) and 3 weeks ago I reinstalled my Windows. Everything went well until 2 weeks ago when the internet speed went down, dial-up like. Pages won't load, and if they do they load just partially. I called my ISP and they said they had no problem. I couldn't find any solution so I thought maybe, some sort of virus or spyware is doing this so I formated the whole hard-disk and did a clean install of Windows.

Unfortunatelly nothing changed, the download speed is the same. Here is a speedtest.net evaluation:

Drivers are up to date, no windows firewall, no antivirus and no windows update. The ISP support guy told me to deactivate IPv4 and IPv6 from Local Area Connection, but nothing changed. I did a TCP/IP reset which raised my down speed to almost 1 Mb, but after a few minutes it went back to "dial-up". With the down speed being the same, Speedtest sometimes shows me upload speed in between 50-70 Mb which is unbelievable (I will make a ss next time I see this).

And the very weird thing is that I have another netbook (pretty weak config, Intel Atom CPU, 2 GB RAM) and with the same cable it has normal speed (the kind of speed I had on this Dell too). An... Read more

I have wireless internet through my cable provider. My signal strenght varies from 5 to 48 mbps on most days. Why isn't the signal consistent and what causes my internet to get so slow. Is there anything I can do...call my cable provider?

A:High speed internet not so high speed

"call my cable provider?"

No. You are mixing up some terms, but it doesn't sound like this is an ISP problem.

For now I'm going to assume that you have cable internet service and a wireless router. If not, please describe. If so, please post the brand and model of your modem and router (or modem/router combo).

Wireless signal strength is usually given in terms of "n bars out of 5" or "good," "excellent," etc. What is yours, and does it vary? How close is the PC to the router, and what obstructions are in the way?

When your bandwidth varies from 5 to 48mbps it could be an adapter or driver or router problem, but more likely is wireless interference. Are there other wireless networks on your same (or close) channel?

Some people first just try changing channels (in North America the non interfering channels are 1, 6 and 11) without trouble shooting to see if that helps.

If you are having difficulty determining the channels of the networks you detect use NetStumbler for help: www.netstumbler.com

I've read that people have had problems (not necessarily with the referenced model) with 3x vs. 2x hubs for some reason.

I'd like to know if anyone has either had experience with the referenced hub or has another 3x hub they've found to be effective and (possibly) less expensive (best price for the Belkin is ~$50).

First question... Are they high speed hubs?
I have an older 4 port Dlink here that's never run 480... looking into the chip on the internal circuit board, it turns out to be a 12mbps chip... you can slow them down, but you can't scare them into running faster.

Hi All,

I have an Adaptec USB 2 Connect 4000 B in my PC and just realized that two of the ports are not recognized as high speed. I was running off of the windows default driver so I went and updated the driver and after all ports were "optimized" I thought the problem was solved. However, now the computer does not recognize anything that is plugged into the card. I can roll back to the windows default but was curious if anyone has any thoughts as to why only 2 ports would come up as high-speed.

Any help is appreciated.

A:Hi-Speed USB ports not registering as high speed

Some hardware have USB 2.0 and 1.1 backward compability un seperate USB ports. It can also come from the device you connect and also the USB card's speed compared to your PC.

Try rolling back to the Windows default settings. If nothing can be detected still, that can be a presence of hardware defect. Return and exchange.

Using a Belkin N150 Surf (one of the new ones) and seem to be having trouble forwarding one specific port over UDP.
I've got a bunch of port forwards set up which are working perfectly over both TCP and UDP but for some reason the router will not forward 3074, returning errors in the security log of:

**UDP Flood to Host**, 59251->>, 3074 (from ATM1 Outbound)

Oddly enough it will forward this port over TCP.

The only way I can get around this is by DMZ'ing the PC which is trying to connect via the port which I'm not too keen on using as a permanent solution. Ruled out everything else by disabling software firewalls / trying other systems / port scanning, sent an email to Belkin days ago but they seem to be as useless at replying as ever..

Can't say I'd recommend the brand. I have one in my hand atm actually a FSD5321-4 worked for about 6 months with port forwarding working OK then gave up altogether. I've had it working a couple of times but always fails after a few mins if it works at all.

All you do is pick the IP address you want forward and port number then IP address and port of the destination then check enable (can't remember exactly) then it either works or it doesn't.

I'd check for a BIOS update then look for a replacement.

I have a question, may be someone knows: I ran out of the USB slots, so I decided to use an add-on PCI card. I have an old Belkin USB 2.0 card, not sure whether this is exactly the model number that I found on their website, but may well be, since the card, according to Belkin is supposed towork on "Windows? 98 SE, Me, 2000, OS, or XP with USB 2.0 support".

Now, will this thing work with Windows 7 x64? Is there anyway to find a proper driver, or the system has some generic driver that would be good enough?

I could just try and plug it in of course, but thought to ask first, may be someone knows and will save me some trouble - if there is any trouble waiting for me .

Thanks in advance.

I have an HP Pavillion with an AMD CPU & Windows vista installed. I installed the SW for a Belkin F5U220 (5 port PCI Hi-Speed 2.0 USB card) and then the actual card and then restarted the computer. According to Belkin instructions windows should recognize the card and drivers.

Vista finds the card, but considers it an 'unknown' device. I let Vista attempt to find the drivers but it doesn't. I even tried the option of inserting the driver disk, but Vista could not find the drivers.

The Belkin site does not even recognize the F5U220 as a legitimate device, so I can not get drivers from them.

I give up - this is the worst version of windows I have ever used and I started with Windows 3.1. I'm beginning to hate microsoft, but don't have the knowledge or interest in learning a new operating system - like Open-BSD or Linix.http://www.techsupportforum.com/imag...es/1-upset.gif

goal in a nutshell: I'm attempting to help someone (online) to forward a port so they can run a game server.

On the game side of things, I also run a server for this game on my machine (XP Pro with a Linksys E2000), and they can connect to me fine. I mention this to help eliminate questions about problems with the server setup or game itself as we seem to have that process down ok.

The key differences between our setups is they run Win 7, and have a Belkin router (F5D8236-4v3) - both of which I'm not familiar with other than what I've learned over the past couple of days. It could be either, but I suspect the Router settings to be the issue...but Im guessing.

What's the full name & model number of your Belkin device? Also, it would be helpful to fill out your system specs (click 'User CP' on the topnav, then click 'Edit System Spec').

I am attempting to dock an Acer Aspire 5723Z laptop running Windows 7 64-bit into the Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Dockstation Model # FSU216 which the supplier provided with the laptop as being compatible.

When the devices are connected, the (Edge10 GB19XX) monitor display switches off when I close the laptop. The screen resolution does not always readjust.

In Devices in Control Panel under Unspecified it says IEEE-1284 controller USB hub ? ?Needs troubleshooting?.
If I right click and click ?troubleshoot? it says the driver is not installed. When I click ?apply this fix? it tells me the driver was not successfully installed. If I click ?skip this fix? and then ?view solution? it says ?a solution is not available for this problem.?
When I originally attempted to install the drivers from the disk I got an error message that it did not have permission to copy a particular file. I tried to uninstall the device a number of times. Each time I went back though control panel afterwards, it asked me again whether I wanted to uninstall the device, which implied that it had not been successfully uninstalled the previous time.

Belkin claim they don?t have drivers for Windows 7 64-bit - only for Vista 32-bit.

Does anyone know a way to get these devices interoperating so that the display works properly?

If not, does anyone know of a docking station which will work OK with this laptop/OS?

Regards Keith

A:Display problems with Belkin Hi-Speed USB Dockstation

Wow. Except for the model number on your laptop, you and I have exactly the same problem with exactly the same docking station--the VGA support for Win7/64. I got around it by using the HDMI port on my laptop and hooked in a small HDTV I wasn't using. Does your device support HDMI? It's one way around the problem.

Also, have you been able to get your printer to work via the parallel port? Mine won't send the page to the printer.

I have Belkin WAP in my living room hidden on top of the Grandfather clock. Getting it up high helped a lot. The biggest help is keep anything, and every thing away from it no matter what it's made of. Anything in proximity of the antenna(s) will detune them and they will suffer for it. I updated the firmware of Belkin F5D8233-4 v3 to version: 3.01.29 which I downloaded from http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/521. After that, only port 1 of the 4 wired connection ports will able to connect. I believe the other 3 ports were able to connect before the firmware update. How can I troubleshoot/fix this issue?

A:Only port 1 out of 4 wired ports of Belkin F5D8233-4 is working.

can you go back to the old firmware at all ?

Hello -- I recently have had Cable Internet installed into my house and since then have been unable to send/receive any files in mIRC. The networks that I use are irc.dal.net and irc.phazenet.com -- I know that it has nothing to do with those two networks but it's just an FYI ...

I know that there is a way to configure the router to let me send files out. I can receive just fine ... But I can't send files out. I'm going to assume the way to configure this is in the Special Application Settings within the routers web-based configuration utlity. I don't quite understand how exactly to do this. I won't put my computer in the DMZ because I know there's a way to set up the router to allow me to do what I'm trying to do. The ports that I'm using for DCC chat and sends would be 1024-5000.

Would anybody please help me try and get this resolved so that I may send any files as necessary to people? Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

My Belkin N300 wireless router is now experiencing intermittent slow Internet speed. The router is 2 years old and has worked perfectly until last week.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I completed.

Internet speed test when directly plugged into the wireless router and cable modem: 30mbps
Internet speed using laptop wifi: 2 mbps then sometimes works at normal speed
Called ISP and they verified there was a connectivity to cable modem issue. Did a power cycle for modem and router. Then got full 30mbps from cable modem to ISP using direct connect to laptop.
tested other devices such as laptops and tablets, all experiencing intermittent slow speed
when experiencing slow wifi, switched to direct connect ethernet cable to router and got immediate full 30mpbs

So far all my testing is pointing to the Belkin router's wifi connectivity. I will check on the router's firmware since it has never been updated.
I also found a thread online suggesting disabling QOS on the router. But this should not be needed as it was working fine for two years since its purchase.

Any suggestions to what else I can do to resolve this issue?

I need a help to resolve one issue with my Belkin router F7D4402 v1. I have got it recently and configured it without any issue and my internet (ADSL) was up and running. However, later I have noticed that, my internet speed is limited to 1.5 Mbps. whereas; the speed I was getting on my old Linksys WAG200 router was minimum 2.0 Mbps.

I have tried to disable the QoS and other options but no use. But when I enabled the Mac cloning it worked fine. I was getting the speed I subscribed for, but unfortunately, the other devices on my Wi-Fi stopped working. With Mac clone enable, the internet is only available to my PC.

I need the internet on my PC plus all the Wi-Fi devices in my house and along with it my full internet speed, not just 1.5 Mbps.

Can anyone please help to fix the issue?

Thank a lot.

A:Belkin router F7D4402 v1 ADSL speed is fixed to 1.5 Mbps

It's not the router - - you up against the limit of ADSL.

I have a Belkin wireless router (F5D7230-4), a Buffalo Linkstation 250, and a new Dell Dimension 9100 with XP-home and plenty o' RAM. Everything mentioned is directly cabled together, with only 1 laptop sharing the wireless access.

EVERYTHING is fast--internet, processing, whatever--except transferring files to the Linkstation, which takes forever. 400 megs took 18 hours the other day (!). Furthermore, if I start to transfer a bunch of MP3s, the first 5 or 6 will FLY, but then it just grinds to a crawl. If I'm just browsing the contents of the Linkstation, the speed is fine; playing an MP3 directly from the drive works fine as well. And if I hook the Linkstation directly into my network card, it runs like greased lightning, so I assume it's a router issue.

All firmware is updated. No firewalls on. Protected mode is off. Frame bursting is on. NAT on. UPNP on.

Does anyone have ANY suggestions for me? I couldn't find any other posts that seemed to address my specific issue, and it's driving me nuts...! Thanks in advance!

There THe belkin modem/gateway shouldnt limit your speed capabilities. You should be able to find the speed listed inside the modem's status page. To do this..
Click start>run>In run type CMD
In the black window type IPCONFIG and then enter. Note down your default gateway.
Open a browser window and enter the gateway's address into it. Click go
This should take you to your gateways graphical user interface.
Look for a status tab or see if it lists connection speeds on the general page.

Also you can test speeds at different sites. Google search broadband speed test and choose 1 of the millions of sites

Is this even possible? Ive never seen a download speed so low, I cant even watch youtube, and forget netflix. Yet my upload seems to be through the roof. What is causing this? .58mb/s DL with a 43.26mb/s upload @ 5 ms ping.

A:Extremely low download speed and extremely high upload speed

Might I ask what time of day you did that test? In My Opinion, the Internet is like the Interstate. You can't go fast at rush hour.
You should try it at different times of day to see if it changes.
You could even try another test site http://www.internetfrog.com/mypc/speedtest/

Good luck
