Trying enter LAN proxy information chrome & IE10 but the information isn't saving

Q: Trying enter LAN proxy information chrome & IE10 but the information isn't saving

I am initiating a proxy server that acts as our webfilter.
On one of the machines I can't get the proxy's address to stay on either chrome or IE10.
Very strange. I can type in the ip and the port but the apply button remains greyed out and when I hit OK - it just doesn't take???

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Does anyone know whether information bar is still availbale in IE10 to let you install ActiveX control? Thanks!

A:Information bar in IE10

If a site attempts to load an activex control, the modern IE will prompt you that the site must be opened in desktop mode to view the site's full contents properly (along with a button to do so) at the bottom of the screen above the address bar. Site developers can also add a meta tag to their site that will force this prompt in IE10 as well, if necessary, to avoid this.

However, modern IE doesn't actually allow loading of any activex controls (except Flash, which is technically baked into the browser now ala Google Chrome), so there's no bar specifically for those.

This JUST started happening within the past few days and for the life of me I cannot figure out why.

Yahoo is my homepage for Firefox (I have the latest updated version). Because I use Yahoo frequently, I tend to have cookies saved so I don't have to log in every time I turn around (and have Firefox remember passwords, etc). When Yahoo used to come up, I was golden....as I was with other websites I use frequently.

But now....every time I close the browser and reopen it, everything is gone on EVERY website I sign into. I went into OPTIONS and see that I have cookies marked to be accepted with no problems. I don't have any options checked to clear anything out when things close.....I have cookies accepted until they expire...everything I can see looks fine!!!

So what is happening? It has to be Firefox because when I tested this on IE, it held everything when I reopened it.

I am stumped! Any ideas???

Thanks in advance!! :)

A:Firefox NOT Saving Log-in Information?

Hi carrie640,

What version of firefox do you have? Many people are having problems with clearing private data in Firefox V3. So you're saying that when you go into
Tools > Options > Privacy > Always clear my private data when I close Firefox is unchecked. Correct?

Also, do you have an antivirus program? If so, which one because some, such as Norton 360, have options that can disable Clear Private Data.

When I put in a new contact, or edit an old one, the Location Information pop-up box comes on, the the country field is blank, with no ability to choose a drop down or enter a country manually. It will not let me cancel entering, even though it gives me the option. The pop-up box keeps coming up, either stating I have to enter a country, or warning me that if I cancel, telephony types of features may not work. If I hit yes to cancel, the box just keeps coming up. If I hit no, the blank country issue rears it's head again. I can find an answer no where else. Oh help me, Obi Wan.....

When I type my password it redirects me to a screen stating fraud has been noted on my account and asking for highly sensitive personal information including mother's maiden name, credit card number, pin number, etc. At the time I was using AVG and Spybot which picked up no infections. I switched to Microsoft Security Essentials which did detect and quarantine an infection called Trojan Downloader/Win32FakeVimes bu the problem still exists.

I have Frontpage 2000 and Frontpage 2002 , how do i do it in them,I have already created the form wat next ??

(p.s - I have saved the webpage as a .asp file)

A:Saving Webpage information in a database

well you'll need to learn a little ASP and i believe asp uses SQL although I am not very familiar with asp. More PHP but they are somewhat alike.

You won't beable to save them on your computer but you can save them on your server(assuming it has databases), but on your server you can protect these databases so only you can see them.

I think Tim will beable to answer this question better since he is the ASP guy.

But I think you're better off getting a book on ASP and databases. IMO, its not something you can explain easily

Hi all,
I set up windows home server for my family about 1 or 2 weeks ago, and we have just been getting to grips with it. The first time i connected to the shared documents, on all computers, it asked for a username and password. The files i needed to set things up were in a locked area (specificly), so i entered the Admin logon. Now i have finished with that, how do i re-enter the username and password, so i can enter the individual accounts that can only view their documents, and not everybody elses.

Also, while i'm here: On Windows Home server, how do i view/restore/copy files from the backups?

When I try to add new information for my Yahoo Instant Messenger contacts, I get the message that says: an error occurred while saving the contact information to the server.

I also can't download and install Yahoo IM 10.

So, I cleaned my system of all Yahoo files using CCleaner....both regular files and in the registry. Then I tried to install version 10, but it wouldn't download the files and I got an error. So, I downloaded version 9. That worked. Unfortunately, I used to get the error message before I cleaned things and reinstalled. I still get the error. I'd really like to use their online contact information. Any suggestions? Please don't tell me to use MSN....I hate it.

So recently for some odd reason my computer is no longer saving my login info. For This forum, other forums I frequent. my yahoo email I set to keep logged in for 2 weeks since I'm the only user on my PC. With my bank, my redbox account, myspace, paypal, all those I only have it save my user name and I enter the password. but it's no longer saving anything.. EVERY time I open FF and go somewhere. it's not saved. I'm even having to answer secret questions and stuff on my bank. I'm not sure if this is a Vista problem, or a Fire Fox 3 Problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I should upgrade to FF 3.3 or whatever there update is. (or it might have automatically)

Thanks in advanced for any help. this is getting really old.

A:Vista, or FF3 is no longer saving password/sign in information

Update here.. It's Fire Fox. It has worked for months and months with no problems. but now It's doing this.

I just tried IE and it worked perfectly and saved every site I went to. With Fire Fox, before someone asks. yes when you go to tools>options>privacy, the check (Always clear my private Data when FF closes) is NOT checked, so it should be saving this info.. Also the weird thing is. When I come to vista64 and I start to enter my user name of XGUNTHERC. it remembers it. and it automatically brings it up, and when I hit tab and go to password. It brings it up. So I just hit enter and it logs me in. BUT before I didn't have to do this. EVER. even when I restart the PC it remembers all of this good stuff. and now it's not.

any idea's?

edit* Thanks for moving to right spot mod!

Your post sets out the message which I assume you have received, but doesn't actually ask a question (this is not a criticism of you as a new Member, we all had to start somewhere!)

If you are attempting to access a 'secure' site (a bank for example), a message like the one you have received is important but nobody else can tell you whether or not you should continue with your transaction. If you are doing something that involves you giving personal or financial information, you should be very sure before proceeding.

Various questions arise in situations like this, including for example, where you got the site address (URL) from. Did you get it in an email and click on a link, from a link on a web page or type it into your browser yourself?

I'm fighting a mysterious issue in my XP SP3 computer that causes occasional BSODs.

Symptoms are pointing to it being a drive controller, the D drive (where I keep my documents and other data files), or maybe if I'm lucky, just a SATA cable for the D drive. This issue is documented in another forum; I'm not looking for a solution here.

Here's what I'm wondering.

I have a full image of the D drive from two weeks ago. So if I buy a new drive, I'll just restore the old image to the new drive and away I'll go, complete. Almost.

I'd like to find a way to capture all the files that are new or changed on D since two weeks ago. This process as I see it would involve:

Use "find files or folders" to find all files new or changed since 7/11/2010
Zip these files into an archive
Put files where they go on new D drive

Simple enough. But I'd like there to be a utility that doesn't just archive the files, it also saves the path names, and then puts the files in the right path on the new drive. For example, if I have new files in d:\directory1 and d:\directory2\newstuff and d:\directory3\photos\july21-2010 (you get the idea), I'd like the files to automatically go from my archive into where they belong, even if that means creating a new folder where none existed in the image from two weeks ago.

Does such a utility exist, or is there a technique I can use to make this happen? FWIW, I use 7-zip as my arch... Read more

Hello I have Windows 7 starter on my HP Mini Laptop

I'm just wondering is there something wrong with my Windows 7 or could it be a virus?

I cannot:
enter safe mode
system restore back to factory settings
view system information

I attached how my pc looks when I click on things like firewall, system restore, system information etc.

Also, I often see corrupt disk notices and there was a notification on my desktop that said my WIndows version was unlicensed or something like that.

My Windows come up and I can get on the Internet with no problem, but the first thing that made me realize something was wrong was when I kept getting corrupt disk messages. Chrome corrupt disk etc.

What I have tried: was running AVG scan, nothing found AND pressing F2 and running all the test and everything passed, hardware etc.

Could this be a virus or a windows 7 software problem.

I have noticed of late - lets say the last few weeks at least, that hi-def 1080p [possibly 720p also] 'tubes played via Chrome are laggy - choppy where in the past the exact same had been like butter. I had wondered if something about my internal lan was deteriorating but running speedtest I'm actually getting excellent full-throttle everywhere.

I had just reinstalled fresh 7 Ulti x64 on my lab mule, and installed IE10 as I have done on my carry weapon [thinkpad]... I thought I'd test such things on my big screen 46" Sony. via Chrome 23.0.1271.95 pulled up a youtube link I'm very familiar with, flipped on fullscreen and 1080p and let it rip. choppy... to me it appeared that the network couldn't keep up so I did the standard trick of halting and backing the vid to let the buffer gain some headroom. visually it looked like this was having no effect.
So I stopped all that, shutdown chrome, opened IE10 and did the same vid there.
Voila' - the vid played silky smooth and the visual buffer indication was running well ahead of the frames.

I'm wondering if, in order to constrain explosive growth in bandwidth-demand at Youtube, if Google slipped a throttling function into Chrome specifically to constrain bandwidth on their property?

anyone know?

Im presuming a redirector.
Another thing I noticed was looking through win\sys32\drivers I find some of my DLL have creation dates listed as today and the modification dates listed around the install date( Im presuming) i.e Creation date = 3/15/2013 and mofdification date = 10/15/2009.
I ran MS system esentials autoruns and process explorer. I tried to remove some of the unknowen users but after restarting they were back.

I have Windows XP Pro, sp3. I have an AMD 64x2, #4200 CPU. It has a 512 KB of cache. I have 3 GB of physical, DDR memory. I have a 200 GB, SATA, internal HD with an 8 MB cache. And a USB connected, external ,200 GB HD. I don't know if it has a cache or not. I have an nVidia 6800 based graphics card with 256 MB of memory. I use two browsers: IE ver. 7.0.5730 and Firefox ver. 3.0.1

You know how sometimes in cop shows or shows that have police investigations in them, they look somewhere on a computer to find out where the user has been on the internet or what he/she has been doing. I know about (but it doesn't show everything, seemingly):
C:\Documents and Settings\(owners name)\Local Settings\History
I don't know if I'm doing necessary actions or not. I just look in the folders and files. There must be somewhere else, maybe a cache or caches, where more information is kept. If anybody knows please tell me where it is and how to see it.

A:Where is all the information

The information is everywhere. In the registry. In files in program Files and Application Data. It is even on the hard drive. Files that have been deleted can be easily read with the right equipment. Windows cannot even see most of the computer's history. The only way to make sure that no information can be found is to erase the whole drive, Windows and all.

Is there a link somewhere that will tell me what is necessary under task manager and what I can stop and how do I control it's appearence there ?

Also is there any way of controlling what is arriving and leaving your p.c. ? ( I was thinking of adware traffic in particular ) A monitoring process of some sort with a kill switch to stop such traffic perhaps.Does a utility like this exist ?

Many thanks in anticipation .............

A:Information please

There are tons of spyware/adware scanners, both free and paid. As far as stopping all of it, that's probably a pipe dream. How about a specific example of something you'd like to stop.

For running tasks, there are lots of pages that tell you about trimming your services. In truth, my advice is simple.

Don't fix stuff that ain't broke!

I know little about computers, but here is my problem. My HP pavillion 963 had been running slow for a while when it completely froze up. I took it to a shop and the guy told me he would have to " re-format " it. Would I be able to save my photos and music? I put some of the 900+ photos on disc but not all. I have over 400 songs that I hate to lose. Is there any way to save these? I runs on Windows XP.

A:Is all my information gone?

Hello gearyoil

Tyr alittle cleaning up to see if it helps your pc.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! ( Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it.
Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.
Empty your Recycle Bin.

Also do alittle cleaning to see if you have any Adware/Spyware in the system. Follow these instructions.

Download / Install / Update / and Run:
Adaware SE check for any updates before running it.
Get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. You can download it at this SITE
To run this tool, install to the hard drive, then open Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection.

Download and install Spybot S&D . Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation.

I hope it hel... Read more

Hi all,
Just like to get some information. On my computer right now running windows seven home 64 bit. I installed norton 360. My question is when I've run a diagnostic test in Norton it tells me too upgrade to the latest windows service pack. When I go into windows update it tells me that there is no updates. Is this something different that I need to do with windows seven or is this just something on norton.

A:Need some information

There are no service packs yet.

You will need to go to Norton to get a updated version of 360.
It would seem that you are using an older W7 unaware version.

My father and I both have Toshiba laptops.
One is Vista and one is Windows XP.

Both the chargers recently broke. (The wires got cut...)

Can anyone help me with what chargers to get?
Here is the information for each laptop:

Laptop #1 (Windows XP)
Satellite L35-S2151
Model NO. PSL33U-02601

Laptop #2 (Vista)
Satellite U305-S7446
Part NO. PSU300-04R012
The 0 might be O's. I think they are zeroes because they were skinny.
I'm using my brothers, but I really want my laptop back.
