Preferred Solution: M92P Tiny Msata in Mini PCIe is possible?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Are there X230 models that have mini PCIe ports that aren't connected to a SATA controller? Would I be able to see it in Lenovo diagnostics (the F10 tool)? I recently purchased a X230 model 2425BW1 and Samsung 128GB mSATA. Upon installing, I noticed immediately that it wasn't being detected in the BIOS. I've tested the drive and confirmed it is working. When I messaged the seller I was told that the mini PCIe slot was for connectivity only (WWAN, WLAN etc.). So I decided to look into the PSREF to show him that the port accepts a mSATA drive as well, but I couldn't find anything on my particular model (2425BW1). I also do not have access to a other mSATA drive nor do I have a WWAN card to try. I'm trying to determine whether it is my drive that's incompatible with my X230 or a defective/malfunctioning mini PCIe port that isn't seeing the drive. I have updated to BIOS 2.70 and EC version 1.14. Couldn't find anyone else with an issue like mine. I thought ALL X230 with WWAN upgrade option could take an mSATA drive.  Thanks!

I have the M92p Tiny and would like to get my temps down. My idle temps hang around 50c and just some average tasks bring that up to 80c quickly.First, what is the weird socket this has? The LGA1150 cooler I have doesn't fit this one - the screw holes are in different spots. Are there any available aftermarket CPU cooler options out there for the M92p? I don't mind keeping the case open with a huge cooler. I see the M93p has a proper heatsink, anyone knows how cross compatible these machines are? Can I swap the fan and heatsink from a M93p onto my M92p?

Can anyone with a M710/M910 Tiny please run RW Everything and save the full PCI data to a file and attach it to this thread. If you run Linux instead the command is 'lspci -vvv -xxx' (run as root). I think they have fixed the m.2 PCIe/NVMe SSD bug in the UEFI for it based on the recent changelog entry. If they have then we should be able to get them to fix it for the m900 Tiny as well. In particular I'm interested in the bytes 4Ch - 4Fh in the PCI configuration space for each of the PCIe ports. RWEverything CHANGES for M1AKT15A

According to Lenovo specs the tiny supports maximum 16 GB of ram.Has anyone tried putting more than that to see if it works? I am tempted to try 2x 16GB, but will it work? Both CPU and Q77 chipset support 32 GB ram, is there some hardware/BIOS limitation?Could it be just because there was no single 16GB SODIMM at the release time?

Hello!  I am new here and would appreciate any insight from you more seasoned users. I am in the process of cobbling together an M92p Tiny desktop from pieces and parts acquired from various sources.  I would like to get the memory up to 8GB starting out.  I have a matched pair of 2X4GB Dual Channel SO-Dimms, BUT they are 1.5 volt.  Most of what I am reading tends to indicate that I should be running 1.35v memory, but if I can use these two older sticks, I'd like to do so and keep my out of pocket cost down. Anyone have experience running 1.5 volt RAM in these systems?  The motherboard is an IQ77T. Thank you!Sherrick

A:M92p SFF - Graphics upgrade; PCIe 2.0 vs 3.0

The GTX 750 Ti could work with a SFF M92p.   Upgrade to the latest BIOS beforehand, CD ISO method is most reliable.   Check that there aren't any taller heatsinks on the motherboard that could interfere with the graphics card (refer to photos of the card.)

Since your system is older, to ensure the necessary airflow, clean the front air intake and fan with vacuum and canned compressed air, jam the fan with a cable tie or similar so it can't spin and over-speed.  Same for CPU fan and heat sink, and vac the intake and rear exhaust of the power supply.

I can confirm that this MSI brand low-profile  GTX 750 Ti 2GB  card works perfectly in my M93p SFF machine without upgrading the PSU:   MSI N750-Ti-2GD5TLP

Measuring the power draw running Prime95 (CPU benchmark) , FurMark (GPU benchmark) , charging mobile phone via USB and copying large files at the same time , it stays below 190W.   Have been running this for several hours. I have also been playing Fallout 4 (FullHD, ultra textures, 60 FPS) for 100 hours without any problems.   As the case is quite compact, I was worried about the temperature but it stays below 80C for the GPU at full power over extended periods of time (about 25C ambient temp in the room).

Hi Guys, Previously installed mSata with my envy ts 15-j173ca with Windows 8.1 and boot directly with the mSata where windows reside. Now I can no longer directly boot via mSATA w/o going into the F9 Boot Menu option. Take note that removing the internal SHHD drive fix the issue and boots normally. Tried every combination in the boot menu via BIOS but have no luck at all. Is it possible to downgrade my BIOS to F.66 - and how am I gonna do that? Any recommendations pls.....? Many thanks,Gerry

I recently purchased a m900 Tiny and installed an Intel 600p NVMe SSD in it. It immediately started showing errors in both Windows 10 and Linux 4.8, and did so even with another SSD in place of it, and even after Lenovo support replaced the motherboard. It appears to be a bug in UEFI, prior to v45 the issue did not show up under Linux 4.8 but it still did under Windows. Hello,

When I was removing the dust inside the Laptop at the fan I saw the (half) "mini-card"-Slots. In one I have the WLAN, but the otherone is empty. So my Idea was to add a  mSATA Mini (Half Size) SSD.
I saw this on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/MyDigitalSSD-Super-Cache-HybriDisk-Software/dp/B00JF4CUBO/ref=pd_cp_pc_0

Thanks to everyone who answer.

I have a mini pcie mSATA card that I want to use for a desktop of mine. Kingston sm200s3 60GB

I believe there are only 2 options.
1. SATA > SATA adapter > mSATA card
2. PCIe slot > PCI adapter > mSATA card.

As far as 2. goes; I have found a card that fits into a PCIe slot which has an input for the mSATA card.

I know that this is not the ideal way to hook up the card but I don't see any more options.

Which is there better way to go or what am I missing?

A:Mini PCIe and adapter VS. SATA

Whatever has an mSATA interface for it will work.

From here SSD Kingston 60GB SM200S3/60G mSATA p/ Ultrabook,tablet - Atera Inform?tica

its a SATA 3 device, so for optimal performance you should use something that can guarantee enough bandwith to not bottleneck it.

PCIe bandwith depends from number of lanes used (a x1 card has one lane, a x2 card has two and so on) and the PCIe revision/version of both devices. The panel on the right here gives all speeds https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express so just multiply that by the number of lanes the card has and you will find out its bandwith. SATA 3 has 6 GB/s of theoretical max bandwith, although actual transfer speed does not go above 1 GB/s afaik.

This Mini PCIe PCI E mSATA Intel Samsung SSD SATA 3 III Adapter Card with Case | eBay

this SATA III Dual Port to mSATA X 2 w/ PCI-e Bracket | MSATA-2XS3-BKT

are examples of what you listed as 1, and stuff I would orient myself towards if my mobo had SATA 3 connectors already. Because... hey, why waste PCIe slots for that?

I was motivated to do this after reading abt the mini-itx form factor, including reading that it basically can do what a full ATX format MB could do, with some limits on RAM slots and vid cards, and reading abt the low-power, 35w tdp intel chips, with native video, that were a really cool fit between low power/low heat atom processors, and the usual intel or amd desktop CPUs. the low power makes it easier to have adequate cooling.

it had to have a max power demand level that would allow a laptop-type power supply, with heat sink in the power cable and not in the computer case. --the micro-psu atx power supplies, plus appropriate laptop-type power cord, are a great set-up to allow this. [ I am fascinated by the atoms, but still not knowledgeable enough or excited enough to figure out my own build based on an atom.]

I told my 7 year old son that we would make a computer together. he likes looking at lego dots com and other kid stuff. It would be small, since it was just for a boy. it would be cool since we like things to be cool.

for items that might be visually cool to shop for, we shopped. the case was found on ebay. I though some aggressive, cool heat sinks on ram would fit, per my calculations, but I was wrong. I ordered g-skill ram with cool heat sinks, but had to remove the heat sinks to fit the case. temps are fine. that was abt it for what would look cool. the rest - ... Read more

Specs.
intel g630t. a great price point with the performance we need for everything, at low power - 35w - our needs do not include rpg etc but includes web-browsing, transfer of pics from digital camera to hard drive, some MS Office stuff. ----stock cooler is very low profile, and fits.

4 gb gskill ram.

win7 home 64bit.

Kingston 120 gb hd --repurposed from some other comp I had done.

repurposed 40mm fan as case fan.

usb 150mb/sec transponder -- from Frys for $10.

Oh- big deal - MB is Intel mini-itx dh61dl. you can build a typical atx computer with this, but with limits - the only card slots are 1 (one) mini pci-e and pci-express.

Hi! My AR5BXB63 wireless card in My MSI VR630 just failed. I'm thinking of purchasing a different mode, one which supports wireless n mode, like this.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/802-11n-Int...908?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a0b96f4ec
My question is, that will this work in my laptop? I think it will, becasuse as far as I know, PCIE is a universal interface and it should support anything I plug into it whith the same interface. Though it is mentioned on the ebay page that it will only work with certain chipsets. Who is right then? Also, there is a wifi enable/disable button on my notebook, will that work? Or is that button the reason why this wireless card won't work with any chipset?
Thanks in advance.

A:Mini PCIE wireless card compatibility

PCI-e IS universal, it will work with every MB, but your OS has to have drivers for it. Either built in, on the manufacturers website, or on windows update (I have Win 8 and it had no drivers for mine, so I had to use my power line adapter to supply internet to my computer for windows update to get the driver). So what I am saying is as long as you have a wired internet connection to use as an alternative then you should be fine.

I want to know if its possible to connect and eGPU using the wireless mini pcie port. And also is my bios wwan whitelisted? Becausewhen I try to open bios it shows insydeh20. And I didn't find anything related to wireless card. Please help.

A:eGPU using wireless card mini pcie port

There are some external GPU docks avaiable that use the miniPCIe slot on laptop motherboards, however, this would most likely bottleneck the GPU as there's only one or two PCIe lanes on a miniPCIe slot as opposed to the 16 lanes on desktop boards. You would also need a seperate power supply to power the GPU.Of course you would also need to remove your wireless card, but since you'd be tethered to a desk with a GPU sitting on it, I'm guessing you'd just be connected to the internet with an ethernet cord.Depending on how cables can be routed, you may just have to leave the bottom of your laptop off. I've never had the opportunity to use one of those devices so I can't pass judgement, but there are several YouTube videos available demonstrating some of those devices (there are even versions for ExpressCard and miniSATA slots if I remember correctly). Also, I can't help you on the BIOS issue. You may just want to make a seperate topic about that to get exposure since the title of this topic doesn't reference your wireless issue.

The numbers are the HP Part No and you have to order the part that way. A non-HP card even with the same chip will not work. All of the listed cards will work and all are better than what you have.

Hi

My motherboard got a port called Mini PCIE. It looks similar to the standard PCIE port but is much smaller (I guess that's why it's called mini ) AND it appears to be tilted 90 degrees to the right if I'm right. So I would have to place the card vertically. Space seems to be limited. Of course I could be wrong on that.

Board type is MSI AM1i

Photo is below. The port in question is just next to the two SATA data ports. (actually on the left, in the second pictures)
I'd like to install a Wifi card there. Please tell me. How and where? Where am I supposed to place the antennas? Do you know any good cards? I didn't buy the card yet, only the motherboard

Thanks a lot

^^ The mini PCIE port is just above (again, next to the white-blue capacitors and left to the sata ports), and lies vertically in the picture with a number tag written to it

Are there any extra available Mini-PCIe slot on Lenovo IdeaPad 700 15ISK such that I could plug in and develop Mini-PCIe based https://www.crowdsupply.com/fairwaves/xtrx in Arch Linux ? If only M.2 slot is available, do I need some adapters ? Will this XTRX Mini-PCIe card fit inside my Lenovo laptop ? Does the laptop have extra antenna that I could use ?

Unfortunately, at my school you need a dual band wireless adapter in order to connect to the internet. With my current laptop, there are certain requirements it must meet in order for it to work.
it must be a full height card. An adapter will not work as the antenna wires won't go that far.
It needs to have 2 antenna ports. I have found a few ones which fit all the other specifications, but they appear to have 3 ports.
Obviously it must be PCIe-mini and dual band, as stated in the title
Does anyone know what one to get, or even if there is one that meets those specifications?

A:buying laptop PCIe mini dual band adapter

Your post is confusing for a few reasons:
Laptops do not have expansion slots, PCIe or otherwise. Everything is expanded through the external ports.
Very few laptops are made with dual band adapters right now. It is curious that a school would require something that is only available on top end laptops.
Wires? Network connectivity is done through CAT5 or 6 Ethernet wiring or wirelessly.
Dual band refers to the frequency of the wireless signal: 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
The antennas on a wireless device correspond to the channels that the wireless signal is sent out on. 2 antennae do not equal dual band.
Full height or half height cards are only configurations. The configuration of a card has nothing to do with performance. Where are you going to put a full height card for desktop PC in a laptop?
PCIe-mini makes a little more sense, but contradicts the earlier need for a full height card. These are opposites.
Perhaps it would be better to explain what you are trying to do.

Hello,
I have a newly home built MSI AM1i motherboard and have it running fine with Windows 8.1. I am trying to expand the number of SATA ports it has (comes with only 2). The mobo has a mini-PCIe card slot.
I purchased a AsMedia 106x, 2-port, mini-PCIe card (had to use a ribbon-cable extender to get it connected).
That all appears to be fine. I struggled a bit with drivers, but eventually found a Windows 7 AsMedia 106x driver set. Loaded that, seems ok.
Problem: When I go to device mgr, it does not see the added 2-ports. When I first boot up, during the black-screen phase, it does report that the AsMedia device is loading and will actually find/name a hard drive that I attach to one of the new ports. It then almost looks like it will load windows, give the nice little blue windows 8 flag and just sits there. I can hear a drive cycle every 2-3 seconds, but nothing.
I eventually have to hit the power button to shut down. If I disconnect the drive added to the new card, it will start up. The AsMedia device looks to load during a black-screen phase, but reports no device found, and then loads Win 8 Correctly. When I get in, again, no SATA ports shown for the new device.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

A:Mini-PCIe SATA-card is not recognized by MSI AM1i mobo

Usually the mini PCIe slot is reserved for Wireless Nic cards.
