How to Change Sound Format (XP specific)

Q: How to Change Sound Format (XP specific)

In Vista, it is possible to change the default format (16000 Hz, etc) for a set of speakers or a headset by going into the Speaker Properties of the device and clicking on the Advanced tab.

I've tried looking everywhere for a way to do this in XP, but haven't found anything yet. Is it possible, and if so, how do it do it?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A program I have installed (Dead Rising 2: Off The Record) Fails to start, unless my speaker format is set to 24 bit, 48000 Hz Mode. My speaker format is normally 24 bit 192000 Hz Mode. I want to be able to make it automatically change to-and-from automatically, as the program is launched. How can I do this?

A:Change Speaker Format when launching specific program

The normal audio configuration is 16 bit 44.1Khz, which is standard "CD Audio" and what commercial audio CD audio is.

What do you have that you need 24 bit 192Khz audio for ? There is nothing that approaches that.

I have a recording studio and record at 24 bit 44.1Khz but when I mixdown to "standard" audio its 16 bit 44.1Khz.

everytime i play music or movie sound is crapy i have to open sound properties and switch default formats ie 24bit 44100 hz to 48000 hz or visa versa then sound is great and if i close app then open again same thing sounds like crap until i toggle

A:why do i have to change default format (sound hz )

Is your sound output via the headphone jack or are you connected via HDMI?

It could be a conflict between the Realtek Sound Manager and the Windows settings.

Sound quality is changed by format, so I change the format many times.

When I see a movie, then change to 24 48khz or 192. But many musics are 44.1khz so when I play music, then change to 24 44.1khz.

But that click-work so bother me. So I want change format by command line.

Could you tell me how to control Realtek HD audio manager in command line, plz?

Ex)Realtek HD audio manager - speaker - default format
16 bit 44.1khz <-> 24bit 192khz

A:I want to change realtek's sound format by using command line

If the source is 16 bit, 44.1Khz, changing to 24 bits, 48Khz, etc does not make it sound better. It can only be as good as the source.

I have an audio file (mp3) of a toilet flushing , and I would like to make it so that every time I delete anything , I want to hear the toilet flush. what is the easiest way to apply that sound to the delete action ONLY , and what format do I need to convert my MP3 into so that it will work........

thanks ,

A:how to apply a specific sound to a specific action

Heh. I did that quite a few years ago with Win95.
First off, you'll need to convert that mp3 to a .wav file. Audacity can do it in seconds.
Put your .wav file in C: -> Windows -> Media
Then go to your Control Panel, select Sound, then click the Sounds tab.
Scroll down to Windows Explorer in the window you see, and click on Empty Recycle Bin.
The dropdown box below will turn from grey to white. In that dropdown window, choose the name of the .wav file, in this instance, perhaps "Toilet".
Click "Apply". Save your new sound scheme if you wish with a new name.
Every time you empty the Recycle Bin, you'll hear your flush.

A:how to change files from firefox format to another format

The simple and obvious answer is to just change the files that you want changed and leave the others alone. But you must have something more in mind.

What is "firefox format"? To what format do you want to change? Using what tool, application or method?

the organizer can be open but the data are all missing and i do know if i can recover my data

A:can i recover specific files after format ?

Maybe...maybe not. Here is just one of several programs that might not find what you want.
Recuva - Recovery from damaged or formatted disks
QUOTE: Recuva scans all parts of a drive, looking for the bits that make up your files. If a drive's index has been damaged, chances are other parts of the drive may have been damaged too. Recuva will show you a list of files it has found on the drive, and give you an estimate of the likelihood of success of recovering them.
Similarly, when you format a drive (especially if you use the Quick Format option), Windows erases the hidden index but does not overwrite the existing files until you start saving new data to it. Recuva can still scan the drive's contents to find your files.

Like most free software these days, Recuva may have adware bundled with it so choose custom install or pay close
attention while installing and UNcheck any offers of toolbars, etc.

Hi!

I need a cell to accept only data that meet the following criteria:
1. the first 9 characters should be composed of numbers only
2. the 10th character should either be a letter or the number zero (0).

If they don't meet both of the requirements, I need for an alert box to pop up informing them of the requirement they failed to meet.

How do I do this?

Is it possible to do this purely with an in-cell formula and formatting/data validation?

Hello All,
Can some one tell how (if possible) how to change the
country specific default in Internet Explorer 9.
I was able to do it in Google.
I would like to change it to non specific or USA.
Right now its on latin america ( I live in Puerto Rico).

Any help will be appreciated

A:Change country specific in IE

I think what you are asking is, how do I change the language in IE9.

If that is correct, in IE9 go to:
Tools >General Tab.
At the bottom under Appearance click on the Languages Button.
You may already see this, I couldn't find a Latin America Listing.

Click on the Add Button, and a list of Languages will appear.
Scroll down until you reach English (United States) [en-US]
Click on OK
You should now see this

Click on English (United States) [en-US] to highlight it, you will notice the buttons to the right darken.
Click on Move Up.

At this point you can leave the two listed, and OK, OK (2x) your way out.
If it causes any problems go back into Languages, and Highlight Spanish (Puerto Rico) [es-PR] and remove it, and OK, OK out again.
After further thought, this maybe what you need if the above does not help:
Go to: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Region and Language\Location Tab, and change Puerto Rico to United States.

You may end up having to change everything in Region and Language to U.S. to make the change:

I don't think you can do that. You can select the program.exe file, go to the Properties / Compatibility tab and select "Disable DPI scaling on high dpi settings". You can also select "Run in 640x480 screen resolution" but that will be too large.

Assuming I am using the correct terminology in my question but knowing that I am possibly talking about something else I will explain. Having done a fresh install of Win7 HomePrem I noticed that when I click on a drive I have to wake it up--it doesn't open immediately and I could here it begin to hum. Prior to my reinstalletion I did not have to do this--clicking on any drive would pop up a window immediately. Then I recalled that I had done this manually and I think it was through the 'Power Options' --> Advanced Settings --> Hard Disk --> Turn off hard disks after... Am I correct in this? That this is how I prevent my disk from going to sleep/turning off? by setting it at 0 or 999 minutes. Assuming not then how do I do so. Assuming yes, then is there a way to do so only for one HD? I have 4 (where my OS sits and 3 others). I do not like to wait every time I want to open a folder in a drive I am not presently using and since this drive mainly happens to be the D: drive and not my E: or F: drive (hardly used) I was hoping I could be specific.

Hi!

What I want to do is to change the width of one specific taskbar icon but keep the rest intact.

Is this possible to do?

Take a look at the screenshot I posted and you'll understand what I mean.

A:Change width of a specific taskbar button

If I right click on taskbar you have several options.
Personally I have a check mark on "Lock Taskbar" on mine. If I uncheck it I can raise or lower the height of the taskbar.
In my taskbar I can grab and Icon and move it left or right but not the width that you are talking about.

So...right click on taskbar and open properties and see if you can find a place where you can select the size or width of each icon.
Post back and let us know what you did.

I recently installed the U-7imate theme for Windows 7. I like it a lot, but one annoying thing is that it changes the text color in right click menus to white. As you can see, this works nicely with Windows Explorer and such, but Solidworks does not like it so much. I can't read anything in the menus now. Is there a way I can change the text color in a specific application? Or is it just one global variable? The theme also messes with Google chrome a bit but that is not such a big deal. If I could change that back too that would be cool.

Hi there!

I used many different file types each day, specially those related to image editors. I have many .psd and .ai files (documents for Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator). However, since I use other programs (GIMP and Inkscape), these files look pretty ugly. They are a white sheet of paper with low resolution GIMP/Inkscape logo. And that is awful

I think I did something with W7 like messing up with regedit in order to change that. I just want W10 to show those files with a proper icon file (.ico) I have in my computer.

Hello Mialbedwy, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could use the same method of pinning the Recycle Bin to the taskbar in a folder as a toolbar, but use the application you want instead of the Recycle Bin. This will give it a wider space.

Ok folks--here's the deal. We have a client list (not set up by me) that has the client numbers listed as the first part of the folder name. So for example, the folder names look like this:

999 (Smith)
1002 (Jones)
1003 (Johnson)

etc. There's a couple thousand. So I am thinking some sort of DOS batch routine to rename all the folders in the directory. Essentially, remove the numbers and put them at the end of the folder name so it looks like this:

(Smith) 999
(Jones) 1002
(Johnson) 1003

Ideally, I would also like to strip the () and add a "-" so:

Smith-999
Jones-1002
Johnson-1003

But obviously that's not as important because the'll still be in alphabetical order even with the ().

I helped several users with moving their Temporary Internet Files (TIF) folder to a non system disk with plenty of space.  The process is rather simple.  Create an empty folder on the target disk and use the [ Move Files ] option of Windows Setting
/ Internet Options / Browsing History [ Settings ] to move the folder.  After logging off and on again, the users' new TIF folder is active on the new disk and the old one can be deleted.

However, for one of the users this seems to be impossible.  In the Browsing History part, the "Disk space to use" value reads 0 and the "Current location" is blank, as well before as after the move.

The registry settings look OK to me.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders points to the correct location and when specifying shell:cache in File Explorer I end up in the correct folder.

Both HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content
and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Cache\Content

have a CacheLimit set to 337920 (decimal) but the Browsing History settings in the Internet Options remain zero and blank.

Suspecting a corrupted file in the TIF, I also tried first deleting the contents of the current TIF after the user was logged out.  But after logging in again, the situation was the same.  Disk space remaining 0 and location blank, registry ... Read more

Hello,
Okay I would like to know if this is possible.
I currently have several forms. I am creating a new form using the form wizard. So I click on insert->form. I go to form wizard. click ok. I add the needed fields. click next. it asks me to form with "subforms" or "linked forms". I click subforms then next. This next slide gives me four options "1 tabular" "2 database" "3 pivot table" "4 pivot chart". I want to choose 1 tabular, because it is the best for me, but I would like the layout to be slightly different. The top portion places the fields vertically across the form, and the middle portion places the records horizontally.
I would like to make the middle portion place the records vertically instead of horizontally. Is this possible?
I tried to modify it using the click and drag method, but then it would only let me access one subrecord at a time instead of all 3 subrecords.

Thank you for you time and effort.

Hi. My audio has been suffering from pops, clicks and crackles during play. I have two sound cards and an independent USB headset. All suffer the same regardless of enhancements, enabled status or installation order Having done a lot of research and tried just about everything including fresh re-installing Windows 7 and 10 twice and tested audio at each stage in the driver install process, updated drivers , bought new GTX980TI graphics card, new sound card, new PSU, disabled components one at a time in device manager including network adapters. Disabled HPET/Speedstep, updated BIOS, changed sample rates, disabled enhancements etc etc.

This problem is most noticeable in Iracing, but can also effect streaming media and other games.

This does not appear to be a DPC issue. Latency Mon and DPC latency checker run clear. However the page fault bar in Latency Mon can spike, but not trigger a negative result.

My question is quite specific to the timing of the pops and clicks and to see if it rings any bells.

The problem occurs mostly when revving an engine whilst stationary. This produces a feint but very annoying crackle from all speakers which disappears once we get moving. Also, when a tyre touches a curb or grass on the apex of a corner. The change of road surface makes the sound pop. The same can be said sometimes for the instant I change gear.

A mouse click on a browser button can also produce pops in audio.

Any Ideas?

Very long story short, I uninstalled Nahimic off my MSI motherboard and now my volume is way too low. MSI's forum has been unable to help. I have a thread here on getting the Realtek control panel back that also addresses the volume problem, but, Sadly, no luck.

One suggestion was to install a sound card. I Googled around and found more horror stories about Win 7 and sound cards than not. Seems like everyone hates modern Sound Blaster cards. I started with Sound Blaster cards way back when they first came out and love them; at least the older ones.

I'm not really set in getting a sound card, and I'd prefer to just have my volume back, but I'll consider one if that's what it takes to fix my problem.

So, in general, do you have any sound card recommendations? I don't need a high end card as my ears are not what they use to be. Just has to be as good as Realtek HD Audio.

Also, in Googling sound cards, it hit me that I have (going from memory) an old Audigy 2 ZS Platinum card in storage. I found some folks say it works great with Win 7, and a lot that say it doesn't.

Anybody get one to work with Win 7?

Running Klipsch 4.1 THX speakers on a MSI Z170A GAMING M7 motherboard's onboard Realtek HD Audio. And with my ears, the quality is more than good enough.

A:Sound Card for Win 7 in General, and Audigy 2 in Specific?

At one time SoundBlaster was "king of the hill" for sound cards. Not that way anymore. On board sound is as good as the SoundBlaster's in most cases. The SoundBlasters come with a suite of applications but if you don't need them there is no real reason to get the SoundBlaster. I have a home recording studio with high end recording gear, but for PC audio I use the on-board Realtek. I used to have an expensive Audigy model SoundBlaster and realistically the PC sound wasn't any better than the Realtek, plus the SoundBlaster interfered with my recording studio software so I removed it.

In ref to the old Audigy 2ZS, some of the older Audigy's work OK in Win 7 and some are not compatible. I remember this model from my days on the Dell forum but don't recall how well this model worked.

What was the reason to uninstall the Nahimic (software enhancement)?

My Realtek (just the Realtek, no added enhancement software) has plenty of volume.

Now when I went to download it onto the website that will be making the canvas print it will not allow any pdf files. Is there anyway to change the format so I can get my canvas? cheers

A:picture format change

There are a few online services which will convert PDFs to graphics files, such as JPEGs, for free. Here's one example you can try.

can anyone tell me how to change an avi file to mpeg as when i try to play avi file media player 10 wont play it somthing to do with codec ??????

A:change file format

You need to download the codec. Even the conversion programs (which by the way take hours to work) need the codec to do what they do. I recommend the XVid codec.

Hi All
Is there any way to give access to end users only to change Date format(from dd/mm/yyy to mm/dd/yyyy and vice versa). I don't want them to change the date just the date format.

I do know a good deal about Access but can not think where to start with this problem. I have dates stored as 20000928, ie. yyyymmdd in the text data type. I need to convert these into a standard date format eg. 20000928 becomes something like 28/09/2000

Can anyone help?

A:Access-change format

This expression in a query will arrange it like you want but, I'm not sure if I'm missing something as far as proper formatting is concerned.

ConvDate: Right([Yourdate],2) & "/" & (Mid([Yourdate],5,2) & "/" & (Left([Yourdate],4)))

how to change file format from .rar to .exe?

A:how to change file format from .rar to .exe?

Welcome to SF!

You will need to extract the rar file, and create a new zip file. Use Rar Extract Frog or a similar program to extract the RAR. You can then create a new zip folder from the New menu on right-click.

Hope this helps,
~Jonathan

Evening All:

I have 2(SanDisk 32Gb) pendrives that are formatted in NTFS. This presents a problem. They are "recognized" as HDD's and thus, cannot be "ejected" in normal manner using "Safely Remove Hardware" icon. When I try
this, there is not an 'eject" to click. I believe this is because the NTFS format makes[reads] them a HDD and, of course, HDD's cannot be "ejected". So, is there a command that I could run that would change the formatting from NTFS to FAT32
without having to empty all the contents of the drives, re-format, then re-install all the data?
THANX:
Rick
