Probability of both graphics cards with probs within a short period?

Q: Probability of both graphics cards with probs within a short period?

A couple of months ago, I had one of my graphics card 'die'/Code 43 on me (you can see the thread about it here: Could my graphics card have died?), and now my second graphics card has done the same thing - except I haven't had the same 'monitor not displaying' problems that I had with the first one.

I was playing Just Cause 2 at the time (it's not that power-hungry at all really), and it wasn't that long into the game when the graphics went funny and crashed/froze my computer.

[Force] restarting my computer, I was greeted with these lines (sorry for the slightly blurry image - the RAM was still counting up at the time of this picture btw):

I still had the Code 28 [under "3D Video Controller"] even after I installed the latest graphics driver [80% sure of it], and I still have it now.
However one thing has changed since the previous problem: I installed a 64-bit Windows 7 [Home Premium still] back in January (2011) - so perhaps that's why I didn't get a BSOD this time.
ps. I have never overclocked my cards, and I don't think I ever want to (too risky for my liking).

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Probability of both graphics cards with probs within a short period?

It could certainly be the graphics card. I would check the monitor cables and stuff before just assuming though.

The last 2 days i have noticed that after around 30mins or so i can no longer open files/internet/pics etc

Nothing can be opened but window tabs can be minimized and have full use of mouse and keyboard.

I cant open task manage when this happens and only a restart works.
This can only be done manually via the reset button on base unit and not via Windows restart function.

Ive run full AV scan with MSE and came back clean.

Not installed any programs within this time, the only thing that i can think of updating was Firefox 2 days ago.

many thanks for any help

A:PC freezing after short period

If you created a System Restore point prior to updating Firefox, you could use that restore point to roll back your system.

If you don't already have it, and can get on the web (or otherwise place a downloaded installer on the problem computer), you should try a full scan with Malwarebytes after allowing it to update.

thanks

A:30 day activation period cut short

When you try to boot XP a page should open with Let's Activate Windows at the top. There should be three options, Yes, let's activate Windows now over the Internet, Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows, and you have already precluded the other option. Once you have a valid product code click on the option that you wish to use and it should prompt you through the process.

Where are you getting the product code from?

Hello.

I encountered several BSODs within days of each other. I don't play games or download anything on my PC. I just use it for surfing the net and general usage (mostly Office). I also technically faced a blue screen just 2 days ago. I clicked on a folder and suddenly my monitor flickered and I saw a flash of blue before it went black.

I am using Windows 7 32 bit.

I am not very tech savvy so I would appreciate all the help I can get.

Attached are the minidump files.

Thank you very much.

Can you try this please: Run Chkdsk /f /r to detect and resolve any file system structural corruption. You must restart the system before the disk scan begins on a system partition.

I'll cut to the chase - my computer is crashing, a lot. It seems to do it mostly when I am either 1) allowing it to idle and do nothing for more than a few seconds, or 2) performing medial tasks like writing in Word or something like that.

All of my info is attached in a zipped file.

I'm specifically focused on the three most recent crashes (Codes 3b, 24, and 1e) . There should be a lot more in there because my system seems to bug-check if I leave it idle for more than 20-30 seconds, but my computer wasn't creating .dmp files until I ran chkdsk with both options selected.

Let me know if you need any further info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, recently my laptop (Dell Inspiron 6400, running WinXP Media Edition)'s been failing; it freezes anywhere from ten seconds to five minutes after I log in. I'm unable to install an antivirus because the laptop freezes during installation. Safe Mode seems to be, well, safer, although even so it has frozen.

I'm unable to install the antivirus (Kaspersky) in Safe Mode because Windows Installer is disabled, and none of the solutions I've found online seem to do the trick. And I suspect that even if i could get the installer to work, it'd freeze halfway through anyway.

I have no idea what's causing the freezing; it might not even be a virus at all. I've noticed that the laptop always freezes at the "Copying new files" stage of the Kaspersky installation, although whether that has something to do with my own timing or that procedure I can't guess. Also, the time that the computer did freeze in Safe Mode, I was attempting to rename a file.

The computer is completely frozen; Num Lock / Scroll Lock can't be activated/deactivated, the mouse doesn't move, etc. I can't even shut down without either pulling the plug out or holding onto the power button.

A:Laptop freezes after a short period of time

That model has been out for about three years? How long have you had your Inspiron 6400?

We need to know the configuration, including hard drive size, brand, free space, as well as memory installed.

It could be that the CPU cooling is too full of dust, hair, fiber, etc. to cool adequately... or that the hard drive is failing, or that you have inadequate memory. But it could simply be an infestation that needs to be cleaned out.

Have you tried re-enabling Windows Installer? Have you attempted to use MalwareBytes, SuperAntispyware, ComboFix, Windows Defender, Spy Sweeper, Spyware Doctor, or other top-flite spyware detectors and removers?

I have been having this problem for about a year now where my computer hangs for a few seconds and then resumes. During the 'freeze', I can still move my mouse, but programs stall or won't open until the freeze is 'over'. If there is a media player playing, it'll freeze and loop the audio or just crash completely. When I'm listening to music, It'll stop and then resume after the freeze. The problem never leads to BSOD or anything, but it's getting pretty annoying.

I have run chkdsk several times and there were no errors and I'm sure all of my drivers are updated.

Anyone know what the problem may be?

A:Computer hangs for a short period and then resumes

I think its a small virus causing the problem. You can check online with many brands of antivirus to see what you might have.
The virus may be taking many resources from your computer so you have this issues or perhaps its part of the problems that the virus is supposed to do.
Also, I suggest you to make a backup of your files because you never know what these kind of problems will lead to

I have a home server running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on a PC with an Asus P5N-D motherboard. (nVidia 750i SLI chipset, nForce 10/100/1000 NIC)
We have around 10TB of hard drives connected to it and all are in RAID 1. (two 2TB+2TB arrays with Seagate Green drives and one 1TB+1TB array with Seagate 7200.12 drives)
Randomly, it will decide to slow down from gigabit to 100mbps. (My router shows gigabit as orange and 100mbps as green)
That's very unfortunate for us seeing as we transfer hundreds of gigs of data through it regularly.
If I unplug the cable from my router (Netgear N600 DR3700, DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/17/11) st) and immediately reconnect it, it goes back to gigabit. (The light also switches from green, 100mbps, to orange, gigabit)

Here is a screenshot of my advanced network settings box.

And here are the settings I have selected:

Network Address: Not Present
Priority and VLAN: Priority Enabled
Speed/duplex settings: Auto Negotiation
VLAN ID: 1
EVERYTHING else is set to Disable

Under Power Management, "Allow .... turn off to save power" is unchecked.
Any help? I'd rather it stay in gigabit mode.
Thanks.

I've discovered this issue predates Windows 10 and some online posters noticed something I have been able to verify in my situation.  It you restart, boot up, or wake from sleep with the power button the system doesn't go to sleep after a brief period of idling.  If you wake it from sleep with keyboard or mouse it does go to sleep.  I think better stated would be, it returns to sleep.  This discovery explains why at times I have thought the issue had somehow been resolved. Using the power button to wake up a system is an OK work around, but not ideal.

Processor: Intel Core i7-7700HQ 2.8GHz
RAM: 16Gb DDR4
GPU: GTX1050 (Intel HD630 Integrated)
OS: Windows 10

So this has been an issue with my PC pretty much since I got it back in September however has just recently gotten so bad that it can't be ignored. When running a large program such as Counter Strike or Rocket League the game will run fine at around 190fps/150fps respectively however shortly after will drop to an apparent '60fps' however it is extremely laggy and looks more like 10. This occasionally will fix itself for around a minute then break again. Recently though it will not fix and the whole computer system will lag until the application is closed. It will then take up to 5 minutes for the PC to run normally again.

At first I thought it was a thermal issue but have downloaded multiple PC monitoring programs and found this not to be the case. CPU and GPU sit at around 70C / 60C. I have reinstalled and updated drivers including the integrated graphics driver and have factory reset my PC 3 times. Nothing seems to work.

This is an odd problem. This has been happening for a few days now and I'm at a bit of a loss about what the problem is exactly. It seems to have started after a recent Windows update, but I'm not sure exactly what specific element has screwed things up for me and it may have taken a bit of time for me to notice the problem due to the nature of it. I wouldn't know when to roll back my system to even if I was willing to try, and I'm not at this point.

If I leave Windows 10 alone for more than a few minutes, it freezes. This happens without fail and it's consistent. Any more than five minutes give or take a minute or two and it's frozen hard and requires a hard reset. Ctrl alt del doesn't work, alt tab doesn't work, nothing but the power button or the reset button on the case has any affect.

There is no error message, there is no spinning wheel mouse icon, the mouse pointer doesn't move. It's just frozen and no input does anything. The screen just has a still image of whatever was displaying when it happened and audio is also dead, no system sounds or anything. There was sound once, but it was when I had a game running and left it too long, and it was just that locked up audio buzzing sound. It's a hard lockup of my system and not just the video getting stuck.

It also doesn't matter if something is running. If I have a video or game running, it still happens. As long as I'm not actively inputting something with an input device such as the keyboard, mouse, or a gamepad it lo... Read more

Hi, some thoughts and a possible temporary 'fix' to get you by for now.. while you research the many threads there are on sleep issues on the forum, and some questions that may help anyone looking at this.

First, have a look at this and see if it relates to your situation:
Solved Win 10 Unattended Sleep Timeout - Same as Vista, Win 7,8[.1] ? - Windows 10 Forums

If not fixed:
1. If you put your PC to sleep or into hibernation manually, can you resume successfully?
2. Have you tried a clean boot - what happens?
3. You can also use shellexview (freeware) to disable shell extensions (hide all MS items first, the disable the rest) and see what happens- should not need to restart to try.

Finally, to keep you going for now: try downloading and installing 'Don't Sleep' (freeware).
Running this may stop your PC going into this odd state.

Have only had my T480 for a few days and Constantly plagued by an issue with the trackpoint and it's buttons. After a random period ranging from 1 minute to 10 minutes, the trackpoint stops working entirely; the touchpad becomes extremely laggy. After about 30 seconds the touchpad is working correctly however the trackpoint and its buttons stop working all together. The only way I have found to solve it, is rebooting the system, however it happens after every reboot. On occasion the trackpoint will work after this, but for only a second before failing to work again. This appears to be random, maybe after 15 minutes of it failing, after forgetting it's broken and trying to use it. This is after updating the Touchpad and pointer drivers, ensuring im on the latest BIOS.However this exact same issue occurs on a Linux partition, which leads me to believe it's a hardware fault.Has anyone experienced this before?

Hello,

It seems i have narrowed down my issue that I have been dealing with for it seems like months now. Well essentially my system will reboot anytime it sits for an extended period of time (about 15 to 20 Minutes). My computer will go into standby mode. I do have it set for my computer to never sleep but only my screens. I have followed the BSOD instructions and do and those to attach to this post. Here is the additional information regarding this problem...

Is Windows 7 . . .
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? - x64
- the original installed OS on the system? Yes
- an OEM or full retail version?Full retail version
- What is the age of system (hardware)? Eh, varies video cards about a year old, memory and hardrives are about the same length of time. Chip is fairly new within a few months.
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) OS was freshly reinstalled on 11/17/2011.

All drivers for all pieces of hardware in my machine have had the newest drivers updated, including my video cards. I have also done the BIOS update for both of my video cards available from Palit. Oddly enough i can play Starcraft II for hours and no issue with rebooting... only when it sits for an extended period of time as mentioned earlier. Any ideas woul dbe great...

Thank You,
Josh

Hello Nissan & welcome.

Analyses
Most of your dumps are including your Graphic Driver. So to really make a secure uninstall and get rid of the leftover files of the uninstallation from the Control Panel, we'll use some specific tools. The little guide below tells you what to do to uninstall and install your Nvidia-driver.

Tutorial

i) Find your driver here, save it to your desktop
ii) Download Driver sweeper, for the leftover files
iii) Uninstall your driver from the Control Panel
iv) While rebooting, go into safe-mode without internet (tip: plugout your LAN cable or disconnect wireless)
v) Run Driver Sweeper, click all the Nvidia components and analyse them
vi) Clean them all
vii) Head into Windows, without internet
viii) Install the Driver from the desktop

Anyway, this is a brand new APU build. I've only had the computer for a few days now, anytime I try and play Dayz for example after a good amount of time it will just BSOD on me, after a restart and lets say you try and launch the game again, it will BSOD during the loading process. If you try and run lets say two games at once, it'll BSOD after a little while. I have a strong feeling it's a heat issue with the stock heatsink, and I have a 212 evo coming Monday, so I would hope that would be the cause but to make sure I rather ask some other people.
I know for a fact this stock heatsink isn't able to cool this chip, because you can check Core Temp, or Speecy, and the chip is at around 70C+ which of course you panic and kind of lay off of it for a little bit, a few days ago I actually believe it hit 93C before I shut the computer down. That's way too hot, so I do believe the majority of these BSOD are heat related, but it could be heat and driver related possibly as well?

Anyway here are my computer specifications as well...
Motherboard: GA-F2A85XM-D3H
Memory: 8GB (2x4GB) CORSAIR Vengeance 1600Mhz
CPU: AMD A8-6500 GFX Radeon 8570D
Hard drive: 320GB Seagate 7200RPM
PSU: OCZ Fatal1ty 550W

Currently chip temp with just the internet browser open is literally 68C, I think these BSOD are heat related...What do you think? I am pretty certain, lol

I have included the ZIP of the dump files and such, as stated per sticky thread.

Okay so i've had this new PC almost 1 month now I believe(Maybe a little less). Everything was going pretty well until a few days ago, it suddenly restarted after quickly flashing the Blue Screen(Way too fast to read).

Then after everytime I boot it restarts at random times giving the quick blue screen and restarting. Sometimes it restarts just before loading windows logon screen, then sometimes a few mins after windows has fully loaded. The max time i've had it running was probably 10-15 mins.

I've tried formatting it quite a few times only to have the exact same problem, nothing had changed hardware or software wise to cause anything like this. Also no POST beeps so that doesn't help.

I've found out that the HDD isn't the problem, i'm running it right now and it works fine. I've also tried installing on multiple HDD's and keep having the same problem, both IDE and SATA.

Before this, the PC was working very well, except for not being able to boot from disc, like WinXP for example. Yet I'm using the same DVD burner now in this older PC and it boots CDs and DVDs fine. :s

A:Blue screen quickly flashes and restarts after short period of booting

First you need to stop the restarts so you can read the BSOD.

Turn off auto restart - right click my computer, properties, left click advanced, and in the startup and recovery section left click the settings button and uncheck the box 'automatically restart'... next time it will blue screen properly, then you make a note of the exact message and post it here.

Second, since the hd's use 2 different controllers, the mobo isn't a prime suspect (new you say?).

Check your temps and voltages during any period where it stays on for a bit.

Check that the cpu heatsink is secure (socket 775 stock units can be hard to seat).

I have a very similar problem to this person, (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic160500.html) except I am running Windows XP home edition.
I downloaded a file I presumed would be safe, scanned it with Mcafee before opening it and unwittingly installed Total Secure 2009.
My computer then froze up so I had to restart. On restart, I managed to scan using Mcafee and Ad-aware, Mcafee found RemAdm-Generic (C:\windows\system32\LMInit.dll), Ad-aware found a few PuP's I removed.
I then restarted again, and a new account had been created "Admin" and I couldn't open the task manager on other accounts.
I tried to run MBAM, but after 3-4ish minutes the computer logged me out, then froze on the login screen.
Anyone help out? I don't like having to restart every 3-4 minutes

Hard drive activity looks normal after that and I guess system works fine except graphics.External video output doesn't work.

Hi there,

My computer came with a VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP card, which is apparently a Graphics/Video Card with onboard video (or the other way around, video w/ onboard graphics) Now, this is a terrible card- it can barely play any modern games. I want to get a new graphics card, but I'm concerned if I install a new Graphics Card, that because of the onboard video, it will affect this greatly, or if I actually need a video card instead of graphics. What do I actually need, and will it adversely affect anything on my PC.

I can provide more information if you want...

I have a Toshiba Sattelite A105 S4064.
Sadly, this laptop only sports the Intel 945GM chipset graphics control, integrated onto the laptops mobo. supposedly, I should be able to adjust teh video memory ranging from 8mb to 128 mb, but in windows it shows 0mb dedicated video memory, 32mb of system video memory and 192mb of shared system memory. Furthermore, the bios on this laptop has no options to adjust the video memory availability.

My question: Is there any way at all to up the video performance on this laptop? I have been unable to find very detailed specs on this model. is there an open slot on the mobo into which I can put in a new graphics card? can the video memory be adjusted?

Anyone who is familiar with these models, please give me something to go with or at least get started in the right direction on this. Thank you!

A:Graphics Performance Short-comings

I had a toshiba satelite model, I'm thinking you have a nvidea chip in that thing, you'd have to go to control panel, display, then there should be a tab with what video card you have, click on it, then advance, there should be an option menu, classic view or new view(something like that) make sure it's on classic so that you can adjust your frequencies. But mind you, its all a confined space, so there is much reason why a high end chip cant be put in the model, and you may damage your laptop because of it, my satellite model ran hot all the time.

Hello!

I have a friend's machine which seems to have caught a nasty cold. Proxy has been mysteriously enabled and points to 127.0.0.1:5555 while the hosts file has been filled with all sorts of junk. The machine is relatively new, clean inside, and is running XP Pro.

It has Symantec AV installed, but he didn't keep up his subscription so it has lapsed and is non-working. I installed Spybot S&D and a full scan found nothing (two tracking cookies only ). I also installed Avast! but have not yet completed a scan, the machine locks up and has to be rebooted (possibly due to the still installed Symantec, possibly not - I'm removing the Symantec completely as I type this)

I am connecting from my own clean machine and have a thumb drive to sneaker net to the "patient" machine - I'm not connecting it to the network at this time until its absolutely needed.

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Dave

A:High probability of a rootkit infection

Some infections will alter the Proxy settings in Internet Explorer which can affect your ability to browse or download tools required for disinfection. If you are experiencing such a problem, check those settings. To do that, please refer to Steps 1-4 under the section Error 732 when trying to update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware in this guide. The HOSTS file is a text file that maps an IP address to a name. It has no extension and can be viewed using notepad. At the top is an explanation of the simple syntax. Each line is an IP address, a domain name, and an optional comment placed after a # sign. In Windows XP, 127.0.0.1 localhost is the universal IP address of all local computers and is the standard hostname given to the address of the loopback network interface which refers to the local computer only. Anything that appears in your HOSTS file without an # at the beginning, except from the "127.0.0.1 localhost" line, should be viewed with suspicion. If you see 127.0.0.1 next to the domain name of security related sites such as an antivirus vendor, then your HOSTS file has likely been altered by malware so that it blocks access to those sites. When redirecting to another site, malware will substitute an illegitimate IP address for the legitimate one. Although malware can be responsible for altering the HOSTS file in an attempt to redirect your browser, it does not do so without infecting other areas of your system. There are several legitimate security programs like Spybot S&... Read more

Problem: when playing a 3d accelerated game, or running long 3d tests, the screen blacks out, monitor loses power (monitor is not connected to PSU) and the system has to be warm-booted to get back the graphics signal. Basically, is this *highly* likely to be power undersupply to the 3d card? Blackouts occur after a few minutes, the time until the blackout has decreased since a recent mobo mem upgrade. I reckon my PSU is *just* capable with the load before the GPU kicks in, I just want to get a second opinion before I pay to replace the PSU. I have (at various times) reinstalled the OS, updated, rolled back, and replaced any drivers related to video.

Also, what wattage rating should I pay attention to when upgrading the PSU (+5,+12...)?

System:
win xp
GE FX5200 card (with upgraded cooling)
celeron 2.5GHz
onboard sound, LAN
2 256MB ddr400's
cd writer
dvd-rom
3 hdd (1 sata)
2 non-cpu fans in an open case (hdd, graphics card)

Thanks in advance... Midds

A:graphics - power undersupply probs?

This should help you out.
Here's a power supply wattage calcuator.
http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/
Fill in the info about your system into the calcuator. This will give you the minimum amout of power your system requires to run. To be on the safe side always go with a higher wattage power supply. You always want some breathing room in case you install more hardware that requires more power. This should help you to determine if your current power supply is being overworked.

Im probably going to have to say that your current power supply just isnt cutting it.

I would say a 400 watt psu would be sufficent enough to run all the hardware that you listed. When buying a new psu dont buy these low quality $20 elcheapo power supply. They have a high failure rate. Protect your investment and invest in a quality power supply. Makers like antec, enermax, fortran, and sparkle will do you well.
As the saying goes....
you get what you pay for.....

Came up clear so tried to update my anti-virus again and it started to go again until i caught it and removed said anti-virus program. Now from that point on my system has been running slower my graphics card has stopped working ( Nvidia 6200 256mb) well it starts to reboot the computer over and over again, even after trying to update the drivers. And now just recently my modem (ADSL running ethernet 10/100mbps) has stopped working????? Comes up with limited or no connectivity and you can try to repair the connection and no go.Is there anyone here who could really help me out as this is drivin me nuts and the computer will be taking a long walk off a short peer soon, or even exiting my car on the freeway at rate one. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Adam

Howdy whoever gets to read this message. My name's Gordon and I'd really appreciate some help as I am slowly coming around to the idea of beating my PC with a very large shame stick.

I have an AMD K6-III 500, 128MB RAM, a GeForce2 GTS card and an Aureal Vortex2 sound card. I have the latest drivers for everything installed. I have also recently reformatted and reinstalled my system to remove the clutter and any ghosting problems with old drivers. Despite all of the above my system just will not stop crashing. Most of the time games simply refuse to load and the machine either locks up or resets itself. If I am ever allowed to start a game, it is simply a matter of time before a crash wings its way.

Help! I have tried everything I can think of; which in some cases has been more than the tech helplines have come up with. My system should work blindingly, but there is clearly something deeply wrong.

I must also add that my machine is virus free and I have spent many sleepless nights trying various driver combinations in an attempt to isolate the problem. I maintain my system very well on a regular basis.

Examples: Deus Ex & Vampire worked, only after much struggling. Midtown Madness2 didnt start, neither did Imperium Galactica 2. Both Ground Control & Earth 2150 I can't get anywhere with. (If it will shed any light, when running Earth 2150's setup program, OpenGL testing is fantastic - very high FPS in nearly all resolutions - but the game does n... Read more

I have 3 problems that maybe all related to a single hardware problem.

1. After a while whilst the PC has been running (could be 15 mins to several hours) the screen graphics go all corrupted with vertical lines and splodges and nearly impossible to recognize anything on the screen. Most times, I can see enough to do a controlled restart and the problem clears only to comeb ack at some indeterminate point.

2. Sometimes on main switch-on, an audible alarm sounds from the PC. The PC does not start up and I've noticed that neither the PSU or the CPU fan are running. I have to hold down the main-switch to power off and kill the alarm. I find that if I take-off the horned fan unit sitting on top of the CPU and place it back on, the problem clears and powers up normally.

3. When doing a normal 'Shut-down from the 'Start Menu' I have to do this process twice before it actually powers down.

Do you think there is possibly a problem with my PSU or CPU where the fan sits on?

Any help much appreciated.

Hi there,
I would be extremely grateful if anyone familiar with the Samsung X15 plus model knows the type of graphics card that is in this laptop. i.e. is it a built in job (integrated) and part of the motherboard or is it one that is replaceable (Discrete).

I think it has a intel 855gm chipset (which i thought has built in graphics - the extreme one). But i am also pretty sure that it has the Nvidia 64mb GeForce FX Go 5200 card.

I ask because i recently aquired this laptop from my uncle and he said that he was using it one day and the machine just cut out. When he rebooted it the laptop had thick, flashing black vertical lines on it. You can see the windows log on page and desktop behind them. He took it to a shop and they did not look at it but suggested it could be graphics card.

It has been connected to an external crt monitor and it still has the same problem. I am going to have a go at removing/reinstalling chipset and graphics driver but just wondered if anyone knew the graphic card situation.

Also if it does turn out to be the graphics card that is buggered and its integrated, i wondered what my options can be. Try and get a new motherboard? Anyone know rough price?. Laptop is about 18months old and so i would like to keep and use it.

Many thanks. Kevin

Hi, i have taken 3 pics of the problem (not good quality though-with mobile). Just to give you an idea of the nightmare problem (just click the links below):
1. Pic 1 = This shows the start up screen:
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m308/048957/samsung_screenpic1.jpg

2. Pic 2 = This shows the welcome screen:
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m308/048957/samsung_screenpic2.jpg

3. Pic 3= This shows the desktop:
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m308/048957/samsung_screenpic3.jpg

As you can see from the pics, there are thick vertical lines throughout, from start up until desktop. They flash as well which is quite irritating and even more so when you move the pointer.

So, anyway, i would be grateful if anyone could tell me if they think it is the graphics card that is not working and whether the Samsung X15 plus has an integrated or seperate graphics card (if this is the problem). If integrated then what are my options? and if seperate, can i simply get hold of another one and replace it.

If no one can get back to me, or knows then i may try another forum and if i get a response i'l post it on here.
Many thanks. Kevin

Hello Everyone,
I have an on going ATA deployment, where the customer wants to know, the possibility of having the logs / event retained for 1 year and an approximate idea on the impact of storage and any limitations for MongoDB.
As per the ATA sizing tool and article the requirement of ATA center falls in the below specification.

Packets per second from all DCs

CPU (cores*)

Memory (GB)

Database storage per day (GB)

Database storage per month (GB)

IOPS**

400,000

12

96

120

3,600

2,000 (2,500)

So we have a approx. storage requirement of 3.6 TB per month, so how long are the logs/event on ATA center kept by default and can we change the retention period for the same.
Thank you,

Regards,
Iqbal Johar
