I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I use Outlook 2003 and have a separate e-mail contact list for a club. A new club person is going to manage/maintain the e-mail list but they use Windows Live Mail. I know how to import contacts into WLM, but I can't figure out how to import them to a sub folder under Contacts. The Import contacts option doesn't allow selecting where to import the contacts.

How about importing them in and then make a group contact list for the ones you want in this specific group?

I am importing a contact list from Xcel. Everything works fine except for the phone numbers. In the Xcel, I originally used "special formatting" so that the numbers entered in the"Phone Column" would have the (555)555-5555 format. However, when I import into Outlook they come out as 555555555. I then reformatted the column in Xcel so that the number read 5555555555 just to see if that made any difference. It did not.

What do I need to do to get the (555)555-5555 format in Outlook?

Thanks!

This usually happens with your Operating Systems dialing location is not set properly. You can adjust this depending on your operating system but usually you would fine it in Control Panel - Phone and Modem Options - Dialing Rules.

Once this is set, try to reimport your sheet and see if works.

Our sales department currently has to manage two contact lists, one in Excel and one in Outlook. When dealing with thousands of customers, you can see how this can get very time consuming so I'm trying to figure out a way to automate this process somewhat.

The difficulty of this arises because they have unique requirements for column headers so importing is time consuming, and matching data is very time consuming.

My question is, is there a way to export from Outlook to Excel and automatically create the columns (and unique column names), and when needed, import into Outlook automatically putting the data in the right fields.

We use Outlook 2003 in a Exchange server 2003 environment.

If anyone has any other idea's let me know.

I have an Acer desktop pc at home, running WIN8 Pro, and I use Outlook 2010 as my primary (POP3) email tool.
Obviously I have an extensive contacts file in there.

I have just bought a SP 128Gb and installed Outlook 2013 on the one month free trial.
So, far I like it.

I took it in to work today and the IT guys set it up for connectivity to the Corporate WiFi, VPN, etc.
Cool! Now it's a mini-me of my work pc!

My question is, and I'm a complete dummy here, is how can I copy my contacts info from my home pc into my Pro?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi,
Can someone point me to documentation on how to import contacts into Outlook when the contact list is in some other format - in this case a .rtf file?

I am so confused about where outlook 2013 keeps things.

I have installed Outlook 2013 and would like to import my contacts from my outlook 2007 in another computer. I have already prepared the contacts.pst file from outlook 2007 and made it available in my public folders. I then imported the .pst file into Outlook 2013 via network. However the contacts shows up as a separate contact list rather than integrated into the outlook 2013 address book . How to correct it?

I must have got the process wrong.

Thanks

OK. I found the imported contacts in a separate list inside the address book. There are 2 lists one is "In This computer" the other is just "contacts" . How do I make the "contacts "list as the default so I get an address book when I click on 'To" ?

However, I'm trying to get all my contact on there, around 300, and they are all stored in the "C:\Users\{User}\Contacts" folder. I need to get them to sync with the Mobile Device Center. The only way I know to do this is to put the contacts in Outlook 2007.

I had the same problem. Evidently you have to specifically check the folder that you want to import from the .pst file. So I did one import and go my archived data, but no sent or received. Then I did it again and chose sent. It worked. But no received, so I did it again and it worked. But no contacts. I did it again and chose contacts. It worked. Be careful to correctly select import duplicates or not and to correctly choose the existing personal folder to import into or you will get a duplicate personal folder in the list (its ok, you can delete it). In the end it was simple and I just needed to pay more attention to what I was doing. My fault for doing it at 3 am! -S

A:Import Hotmail contacts into Outlook

This may or may not work,
1. First have the HotMail acct installed in your OE application. To do this follow instrucitons at this link
2. Than open up Address Book> TOOLS> Press Synchronize Now.
3. This will move contacts from the Address Book's Main Contact folder
(not any contacts in sub-folders that you have created) to the HotMail
Address Book, and visa versa. You will need to check both address books
for duplicate entries, and delete as necessary.

Hope it helps

Hello,
The title would make it sound like a simple problem, but I can't figure it out for the life of me. Here is the situation. Last week a thunder storm blew through and sent a electrical spike through my protection and rendered my motherboard useless. My computer guy salvaged my data for all users from the drive. Once the motherboard was replaced, he had to repair the OS,(Vista). He then plopped the data into a folder on the drive. Now I just need to reload my programs and all that stuff. My question is this: I see the folder with all of my contacts in it. How do I get those contacts back in Outlook 2007? I tried the import wizard, but it seems that there is no option for importing that format. I looked at the properties of one of the contacts and it is listed as a .contact format. What is that? Any help would be appricated.

In a nutshell, you will EXPORT from your old PST file and then IMPORT to the new location. You will be able to select what information (inbox, contacts, calendar, etc.) you want to work with.

The PST file by default is named OUTLOOK.PST and is stored on the hard drive. This, however, may have been changed by the individual that original setup your PC.

It all depends on what e-mail program you are using. If you are using outlook then you want to copy your *.pst files and *.pab files. *.pab files is your personal address book. Hopefully you created a *.pst files, this is your personal folders. if not then you can either create one or export it. you can also export your calender too.

Hi, We are a team of 25 who all use the same contact list (which contains addresses, organisation name, tel numbers, emails, contact names etc for approx 600 organisations). We regularly have to bcc all these contacts in to emails. We previously all held the distribution lists (sorted alphabetically by email) and had to let the rest of the team know when details changed so they could be updated by all. The problem with this was that the distribution lists do not hold all the information needed (e.g. addresses, organisation names) and contact information was not always updated as it should have been. I have updated an excel spreadsheet containing all the information and I would like to create a macro for all the team to periodicaly import this data in to Outlook Contacts and possibly create distribution lists from these. I trust this makes sense I am using Outlook 2003.

I created an e-mail account in Windows 7 and 8 WLM for my POP (ISP) e-mail account (the only account).

I exported my Outlook 2003 contacts to a CSV (comma separated DOS) file. I start WLM in Win 7 (or Win 8 they both work identical) and select contacts and then "Import" Comma Separated Values CSV and select the CSV file created with Outlook 2003. WLM goes through the motions like its importing but when its finished there are no contacts imported.

In Outlook 2003, I have "Contacts" and also a sub contacts folder for a club e-mail list. I only want my regular Contacts, not the club e-mail list. However, if I select "Address book for current user" in WLM it will import the club e-mail list only.

I've been over google searches and this forum's tutorials and searches and didn't come up with anything I haven't done or tried.

Put Contacts in the Search or Run box and it should take you to the Contacts Folder in C:\Users\YOUR_NAMZE\Contacts. I usually use Windows Address Book on WinXP to Export the contacts to a .csv/Comma Separated Value file which can be use for importing into a number of E-Mail programs and some Webmail and can also be opened in a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel, Corel/WordPerfect Quattro Pro, Lotus 1-2-3, LibreOffice, OpenOffice, etc.

2. How do I retrieve my contacts from the CDROM? keep in mind I have already gone through the import function AND also tried copying to the windows\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook folder with the same result.

Looking for a easy way to do this and free of course!!

Any ideas?

Thanks

A:Import Outlook contacts to Lotus Notes

In Outlook, click File, Import Export, select export to a file, select file type - most likely Comma separated or Tab separated will work.
But you may need to do some editing of exported file Excel to comply with LotusNotes field naming conventions, sequence of fields, etc.

Perhaps this will be useful to your techy guys (who should have prepared for this when they switched you, what were they thinking of!)

If you describe what your techs already tried and failed to do, someone here will find an answer. Also computer system and Outlook version might help.

Hi, I work in a small business and I want eveyone to put their outlook contacts in a public folder so we can create a shared contact database. I then want to do e-mail merge selectively. My idea is to create a new field (or modfiy a user defined field) with a dropdown list so that people could consistently categorise their contacts before sharing them e.g. prospect, customer, reseller etc. Can anyone tell me how to amend the standard contact form and then publish it so everyone can use it as their standard contact form without having to 'reload' all their contacts?

Alternatively, is there a better way of achieving the end result? The attraction of this approach is that the mail merge program allows for boolean operators to be used on any field in the record so we could select all contacts with User Field 1 = to 'customer' for example, it also allows multiple selection criteria.

I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks

A:Customising contact form in Outlook 2007

I don't recommend using exchange for a marketing database, especially if the company is very large. You will be constantly limited, importing and exporting data. Users will have thier grandmothers, poker buddies and and ex wives information in Contacts. Build a marketing database in Access or something. Then you can easily do reports and sort and all kinds of things people will want. You can initally populate it with contacts and build from there and 'push' information to public folders from the database.

Bottom line is Exchange main function is to enhance communications, trying turn it into an enterprise solution is a bad starting point.

Just my opinion. Your experience may vary...

I have been struggling with this for far too long. I'm having a problem with an Excel Spreadsheet control on a custom OL '03 contact form. I added the spreadsheet on the second page of the form. My problem is that it appears that I can either display the spreadsheet as I've formatted it, complete with column headers, but the users can't enter data, OR I can allow users to enter and save data with the VBScript copied and modified from Sue Mosher's site...

Dim XLSheet

Function Item_Open()
Set oPage = Item.GetInspector.ModifiedFormPages("Notes")
Set XLSheet = oPage.Controls("Spreadsheet1")
XLSheet.HTMLData = Item.BillingInformation
Item.Subject = Item.Subject 'Dirty the form
End Function

Function Item_Write()
Item.BillingInformation = XLSheet.HTMLData
End Function

but not both. I either get a blank spreadsheet without formatting or headers that I can type into and save, or I get an error message that states that the spreadsheet is locked. When I delete the code entirely, I can see the spreadsheet as formatted, but that doesn't allow the saving of data. I tried setting the protection of the spreadsheet AFTER opening it up with code, but that didn't work either. I'm better at VBA than VBS and I know I'm missing something here. What I want is for the users to see a spreadsheet with three columns, the first row with headers that is protected from change, and they can enter new data into the spreadsheet... Read more

Hey All...

Running Outlook 2003 on a PC and a laptop, both using XP Pro. I recently signed up with a Microsoft exchange host by the name of Mailstreet. Once doing that I designed a customized Outlook contact form by the name of 061907, saved it to the Personal Forms Library, then right-clicked on my Contacts folder, went to Properties, and made sure that the "When posting to this folder, use: " dropdown was set to 061907. This worked dandy for several weeks until one day when I was out of the country (of course), I tried to open a new contact file, I received the dreaded "this form could not be found. Contact your administrator." pop-up. I also noticed that half the emails in my inbox had turned into Posts (yellow note icon). I went to my flash drive, where I had a copy of 061907 stored, and resaved that over the old version I had in my Personal Forms Library. That helped, in that my customized form returned, but every time I clicked on an existing contact or clicked on New Contact, the computer would do nothing for ten seconds, a pop-up saying "Done." would appear, and THEN my desired contact form would appear. Very irksome.

So I got home and fired up my desktop and it is doing the exact same thing! And since I was told that custom Outlook contact forms are all dealt with locally, it all seems a bit weird to me. I found this article (http://www.kbalertz.com/kb_839804.aspx) which deals with this problem. It suggests that there is some kind of c... Read more

How can I change the default form in the contact manager of outlook98? I designed a custom form and would like to import a database into the custom form. But the default contact form comes up always.

I've done this with Outlook 2000, so it might work for 98. Click View, Folder List. This will bring down a menu listing of all your folders. Right-click on your Contacts folder, selct Properties. On the General tab, in 2000, there is a drop down area that reads "When posting to this folder, use:" and then you get the drop down box to pick contact or forms. From the Forms selection, you will be able to choose any other default form, or ones you have created and saved in your Personal Forms Library. Sorry I couldn't give you specifics on Outlook 98, but I don't use it anymore. Hope this helps, or at least points you in the right direction.

I have an excel spreadsheet which has names ( first and surname in single column under NAMES ) and email addresses (under EMAIL) which I want to import into my Outlook Personal Address book. I have followed advice of previous post but still only get the email addresses, no names. Tried suggestion of inserting a userdefined name for the spreadsheet but I still only get the option of email address in the import-from column. I have tried renaming the columns, I have tried changing them around. Is it because I don't have addresses and phone numbers?

I can not import my old contacts from Microsoft Outlook, to Microsoft Windows Live Mail. I open Live Mail, then go to Contacts page, then open "FILE" , then open "IMPORT", then try to select one of the types of files, such as CSV or Outlook, but NOINE of the file types are highlited, they are all grey, and you can NOT click on any of them.

Any ideas what is wrong??

A:Can NOT import contacts from Outlook to Windows Live Mail !

Forget even trying that. The closest you could import if possible would be from Vista's version of Windows Mail not from Outlook or Outlook Express. In WLM you simply have to manually add most of your usual contacts in or use the add name to contacts list when going to send the first mail out to someone. That can save time if you have a good number on the list.

First of all, I don't have Business Contact Manager installed in either computer. I am moving my Outlook 2007 Contacts from XP to Vista in the new computer. I used to know how to move my address book in Outlook Express, but I'm strictly a novice with Outlook. Please, can anyone help me?

I replaced my hard drive and made a backup of the old drive contents before hand.

I installed a new version of Outlook (2007) and have downloaded all my old emails off my web server - so my inbox is working perfectly. I want to add my contacts / calendar, etc, but I am afraid if I import or "add" my old PST file I may get duplicates in my email inbox. How can I prevent this??

Thanks!

You should just be able to select what you want imported.

Hi Guys,
Any clue on how to import data from excel to outlook contact list and creat distribution list ...
Thanks in advance ..

A:import Excel to outlook contacts in specefic format

Create a distribution list in Outlook and then export the contacts list to a CSV file. THis will give you an idea of how the DL's are formatted and how individual contacts are referenced as a part of that DL.
