Error when trying to subscribe to security bulletins

Q: Error when trying to subscribe to security bulletins

I currently receive Microsoft Security Bulletins at an email address that I'm closing. I don't recall needing a Microsoft account to sign up for them, but it has been years. I created a Microsoft account and tried to sign up for bulletins, but I get this
error every time I hit finish:
"An unknown error occurred while processing your request. This is most likely due to a connection failure. Please try again."
I have tried several browsers. Error is the same.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've tried to sign up for the Microsoft Security Notification Service: Comprehensive Edition over months but haven't received a single email. No welcome email either. I've checked in my spam folders too. Clicking Subscribe does not seem to change any of
my Microsoft subscriptions.
[screenshot 1 deleted because account unverified]
Clicking Subscribe turns both buttons grey momentarily and then they return to their previous appearance.
[screenshot 2 deleted because account unverified]
No subscription shown in my Microsoft Account communication permission settings.
[screenshot 3 deleted because account unverified]
Tried with both Firefox and Edge.
How can I get an email subscription to this from Microsoft? Thank you!

Hello!

Item: Laptop Windows 7, last turned on 2010.

Question: is there a "best" method to update 5 years of security bulletins?
I would expect that to download and install might take time; that's not my concern.
It's there an "order" with which the process is completed?

Thanks!

A:5 years later: how to update M$ Security Bulletins

Hi softeyes There's no real order to install your Windows Update. Personally, what I do is that I install all my Important Updates first. Once there's no more left, I install the Recommended ones (assuming I need them). Then once done, I click on Check for updates and install the remaining ones that way until no more are being returned (or no more that I need).If that laptop was last turned in 2010 and you want to update it now, it might not work (broken Windows Update service probably). If it doesn't work, let us know

Please consider bringing the old Security Bulletins back. If the individual bulletins cannot be brought back, the monthly summary should DEFINITELY remain and include links out to the Security Update Guide.

While it's appreciated to have a searchable database in the Security Update Guide, it is too cumbersome to use to quickly get the information needed on Update Tuesday. Furthermore, many of the links in the guide were dead yesterday. To get the same information
took way too many steps and required collaboration with other sources to confirm information.

It seems the desire is to simply say, "The updates are in cumulative packages so you have to install everything anyway. Just trust us!" Unfortunately this does not fly in most organizations. We need to quickly ascertain where the risks are, are they
actively exploited, are their any workarounds, etc. We don't know the CVE numbers to look up because these are newly presented to us. Saying that "Windows is impacted" is obvious, but we need to know HOW so we can examine and properly TEST these
updates.

Please don't make the jobs of the IT professionals who depend on this information any harder. Thank you.

Quote:
Microsoft plans to start 2012 with a surprisingly large Patch Tuesday that covers seven security bulletins which collectively address eight separate vulnerabilities. Previous January releases have normally featured only one or two bulletins.

The solitary critical bulletin in the batch fixes a remote code execution issue in Media Player. The remaining six "important" bulletins due next Tuesday handle the BEAST SSL issue and various information disclosure bugs, escalation of privilege issues and an update to Microsoft’s SEHOP (Structured Exception Handler Overwrite Protection) technology to enhance the defence-in-depth capability that it can offers to legacy applications. The "important" rather than critical status for the Beast SSL issue is at least debatable.

January 2012 Patch Tuesday Preview - The Laws of Vulnerabilities

Microsoft Security Bulletin Advance Notification for January 2012

A:Microsoft's 2012 kick-off features 7 security bulletins

The SSL vuln patch is labeled as "important" because mitigation is as easy as using an RC4 cipher rather than a CBC one, and if FIPS is required, migration to using TLS v1.1 or v1.2 mitigates it as well. TLSv1.1 was RFC'ed in 2006, and Microsoft's IIS7 (Server 2008) and Vista/Win7 support TLS v1.1 or v1.2. While the vulnerability itself is fairly critical, mitigation is fairly easy and attacks aren't seen as prevalent yet, and as such Microsoft deems that type of issue "important".

Hello,
I've worked lately on integration mechanism of the Microsoft Security Bulletin Data (MSRC-CVRF format) that can be downloaded from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36982. Deeper investigation has revealed the fundamental problem
- some cfrv documents has incorrect ids!! For example:
* ms14-021.xml has the MS14-018 cvrf:ID
* MS16-010.xml has the MS15-110 cvrf:ID
* MS16-041.xml has the MS16-035 cvrf:ID
* MS16-055.xml has the ms16-060 cvrf:ID
* MS16-041.xml has the ms16-066 cvrf:ID
Not sure, if it is the proper place to report this. If not, I hope someone forward this into the right place.

Hi,
I have been repairing computers for 14 years with a ad in the local phone book. For the last 5 to 6 years I have been removing spyware/adware/malware from computers before there was a spyware removal program. I have used lots of tools to assist in this effort. I can say that combofix has saved me a lot of time cleaning up an infected system. I am dissapointed that is is no longer available except though individual postings. I would be glad to pay for the right to use and download this product otherwise I have to go back to the individual tools to find and remove these headaches. Please say that you will sell your product to professionals. I actually make more money without it, but life is sooo much better with it.
Thanks for a great tool.

I have a friend who is browsing on the website of Dean Safes (in other words, a long-standing legitimate company) and he hit a road block: an optional subscibe pop up box.

It's like some kind of flash display box, not a new window opening up.  It's darkens the page and won't let you go unless you optionally subscribe.  I'm not kidding you.  You refresh the page, it pops back up.  There's no button to close the box.  I tried entering a fake e-mail to see if the optional subscribe box would go away, but instead it tells you to click on the link sent to your e-mail.  Since it's not a seperate internet window, I can't use Task Manager on it to end it.

He's using Google Chrome and Wibdows 10.

Clearly this was designed to be evil.

I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong here...I am trying to subscribe to a newsgroup called product.sonar (it's digital hard disc recording software). I thought i set it up right, and had the Cox.net tech support assure me that the account was set up right. But when I try to send a message it will say ""message could not be sent. No sender was specified. Please check your news account configuration." Also, when I log on in the first place it will say "server not found."

In all my years of emailing I haven't had to set this up, so I would appreciate if someone could walk me through this. thanks!

I keep getting constant email notifications about threads I posted in.... I thought I turned this feature off, but apparently I have not.... it's filling up my inbox like whoa. Any help?

A:Thread auto-subscribe?

I've checked you account and everything seems to be turned off and all subscriptions removed.

Forward the next email back to us and I will see if I can track down any problem.

Hey all.

I run an Internet Radio station, and I provide an opt-in weekly newsletter.

I am wondering if there is an easy script or something that would allow my visitors to fill out a simple web form with their email address, and then they would get the confirmation email?

I'm not sure what list program my server is using, but the address to subscribe is:

[email protected]

NOTE: I already have a list going, so I am not looking for a list program.

Thanks A Million!

-Mark

Is it possible to create a resource/user calendar in Outlook 2010 that:
1) everyone can add meetings/events to.
2) anyone can subscribe to, or get notifications if a meeting is added/updated.
3) anyone can add themselves to a meeting

Thank you!

A:Can I create office lunch calendar everyone can add to & subscribe to?

Hello ozasaurus, and Welcome to Seven Forums.

I see you asked the same question before and never got a reply.

I think that's because nobody that has read your question knows the answer, not that you are being ignored.

It sounds like this is for a Business/Corporate environment.
If so, is there an IT Department, Administrator(s), 24x7 Email Server(s), ... ?
Are you trying to create a public calendar on your Local PC using Local Outlook, at work?
