I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a problem with my Thinkpad x260. The battery is stuck at 96% with a message "plugged in, not charging". I'm pretty sure i haven't had this issue before. I don't have any thresholds for charging turned on, the battery always started charging even if it was at 99%.  I restarted a couple of times, fiddled with the adapter and battery - took it out and put it back in - nothing helped. How can I fix this and should I?I've looked up this issue on this forum, but haven't found a single clear reply on what to do with that

Periodically, such as yesterday, my batteries stop charging while plugged in. My Thinkpad X270 HN is not even two years old, and I haven't read about any battery issues. I don't understand why this happens or what to do about it. Moreover, I'm not sure where my two batteries are or what is used first. It's quite confusing. Battery #1 will not charge beyond 51%, as I see the icon half-full and the number, yet underneath the 51% it states that battery number #1 is acutally charged at 100% already. And underneath the information about battery #1 is info on battery #2, which states 5% full and not charging at all. I don't understand why these batteries either don't charge at all or only charge up to a certain percentage.Again, I'm not sure how these batteries work either apart or together. I'm assuming the battery icon on the taskbar is battery #1, and when it's lost its charge, or juice, I assume battery #2 kicks in, but, again, I'm not sure how it works. I have no idea where to find the icon for battery #2.Finally, in order to change the batteries -- if need be -- do I have to change both at once, and can they be changed without bringing the laptop into a repair shop? Meaning, if I try myself, do I unscrew the bottom and simply replace them? Thanks,PPenguin

Hey all, I have a simple question, that isn't urgent, hence foregoing contacting support, also I don't think what I'm looking for exists anyhow, but I figure this discussion may give the engineers and Lenovo an idea or two. I recently purchased a T480, haven't recieved it yet. During my research of the device, I couldn't help but notice what looked like an additional port on the battery next to the connector. But I figured it wasn't what I thought cause I can't find anything regarding anysort of additional port on these removal batteries. For the T-Series, I find its encouraged for those who do travel with T-Series thinkpads, to carry spare batteries. Since of course we all know, the T-series (non-s) have bridge battery hot-swap systems. So, do these batteries have an additional port on them so that we can charge extra batteries without having it installed on the device itself? For ex. Battery A is charging in the device, Battery B is charging via usb-c or something on a different charger outside of the device. If this additonal port thing don't exist, is there a Lenovo Offical external charger for the extra batteries? Cause I can't find any, but I'm entertaining the idea that maybe I'm wrong and just couldn't find it. It would sure be useful to be able to charge extra batteries without having to have them installed.

Hello

I run my ACER laptop mostly from home and it is hardly taken out.
So I mostly don't need to run it from battery, instead I use AC main power source, which is connected to the batteries charger anyway.

Now, the cord is always plugged in whether I am using the laptop or not. Is this the best way to use the laptop under this circumstances?

Or should I instead, unplug the cord after shutting down the laptop?

A:Solved: Charging Laptop Batteries

It wont hurt the laptop to have it pluuged in,but you
would use less power by unplugging it from the wall when not
in use,as the ac adapter is always drawing some power while plugged in.

Hello, My faithful X220 has developed a pretty catastrophic fault. Batteries which functioned fine are now not charging. I recently replaced the a faulty DC socket - something I've done to Thinkpads a few times and was very careful. The laptop is receving power fine, when plugged in it's behaving fine. However both batteries are sitting at 0% and do not charge no matter how long I leave the laptop on. In Lenovo power manager I see the following for one of the batteries: Current: 0.00AVoltage: 5.64V What I dont' understand is why Current is showing as 0, perhaps this is because the battery is not being drained but the voltage is also pretty suprising. I would expect it to be higher, around 11V. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what could be wrong? I'm presuming that there is a charging circuit between the DC jack and the DC output on the battery connector, so am assuming that as long as the laptop is receiving power, the problem cannot be with the DC input socket, but is that correct? Thanks for any advice.

A:X220 multiple batteries not charging

You are correct.  There is a charging circuit.  I cannot be sure without seeing it, but my guess is that you blew the fuse.  There is a separate fuse for charging current to the battery.  (The current shown is the number of amps, usually between 0.5 and 3.3)  Is this a notebook?  (not a tablet)

I bought a Dell Latitude CPi laptop on eBay. It worked great for awhile. Then the battery wouldn't charge anymore. I bought 2 more batteries on eBay. One wouldn't charge but the other one would and things were good again. Then I lost the charger. Then I got another one from someone who had an extra from their docking station. While the charger was lost, the battery that was working went dead from use. Now the "new" charger runs the computer fine but the battery doesn't charge. The battery has lights on it. It looks like you press a button on the battery and some of the lights should come on indicating the level of charge. None of the lights come on. The computer says the battery is 28% charged. It stays at 28% but if I pull the plug, the computer goes off immediately. No matter how long I leave the battery or batteries in the computer charging, the computer keeps indicating 28% (one or two batteries at a time).
Any information would be appreciated.
Ted Olsen

A:Batteries Charging Dell Latitude CPi

Hi ted

Dell batterys are only warranted for a year by Dell so they expect them to fail after that. It sounds like your used batteries have finally died. I have seen the indicators show fully charged or stay at different amounts but the battery still be dead.
Some things to try. Tighten all the small screws on the back of the computer. Try a NEW battery.
If the NEW battery won't charge then you have a problem with the motherboard which will need to be replaced but I believe that a new battery will fix your problem.
Yes pushing the button on the battery should show the level of charge. All the leds on means fully charged.

Hi all,  I purchased a T440s ~3 years ago. I used it regularly until one year ago, where I got another pc through work. Now I have to use it again, however, so yesterday I opened it. The laptop has two batteries, "battery 1" and "battery 2". Only one of the batteries is straightforward to remove, while removal of the second requires that I open the case. When windows powered up, I saw that both batteries had 0% available (plugged in, not charging). I've never had this issue before - but the laptop has not been used in approximately one year. Windows 10 was on the machine. Since I found it a bit weird that both batteries were suddenly dead, I tried searching online and found that a lot of people have had similar issues. So I tried several of the solutions which were given: --- 1) Turning off the laptop - removing the power cord - then removing the battery which is easily taken out (the other battery stayed in!) - putting power cord back in - powering up the laptop - entering device manager - uninstalling "Microsoft AC Adapter" and "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" - powering laptop down - removing power cord - putting in the one battery again - inserting power cord - powering up This didn't help at all. I also tried the same solution without removing the battery in the progress. Didn't help either - no change.   2) I formatted the computer, naively hoping it would change things. It ... Read more

"same mouth" is not an English expression in this case. Can you explain a bit more what you are asking?  I think you may be asking whether any charger with the same sized plug can be used and the answer is No. You need to use a fully compatible charger putting out 19v 3.42a. Hi All.--- A great friend of mine left me his digital camera which I can now use reasonably well. My problem is that the batteries are now flat and although I have two battery charges, I haven't a clue as to how long to charge them for.
The charger that came with the camera is a Panosonic with an input of 50-60hz 0.07A
The other one is a digitor that takes various sizes of batteries. It's input is 30hz 30ma

Could anyone give me some idea how long (for each charger) to charge these AA 1.2v 2500mAH batteries for without cooking them please.
The batteries that came with the camera are the same but 1300mAH. Do these take the same time as the others?
Many thanks, Ralph

My Dell Inspiron 1750 needs a new battery and charging cord. Prices thru Dell are outrageous. I found reasonable options on Amazon that claim they are compatible. Is there anything I should be aware of when buying non-Dell batteries/cords? Thx!

A:Thoughts on generic batteries and charging cords?

Batteries are a mixed lot - some work fine, others are junk.
Non-Dell AC adapters will run the system but will not charge the battery (whether OEM or third party batteries -- the Dell adapter is required if you want to charge the battery).

Hello Everyone, I have recently left my laptop in a car for about 8 hours, when it got to about -30C.I can only turn it on now while plugged in. Lenovo Vantage shows both batteriy condition as poor, with 0Wh remaining capacity. As a result, I cannot use the laptop without a charger, and it powers off after charger is disconnected. I have tried disconnecting them for a few hours, using different chargers, and now trying to use a Battery Gouge Reset which seems to be stuck at 0%. Ironically my warranty expired 20 days ago, so I cannot call it in. I am considering purchasing a new extended battery to compensate for both, but I am worried it will not solve the issue. Any recommendation from Lenovo and the community would be much appreciated. Alex

Initially my device was working just fine. Of late though (I don't know exactly when) I've noticed that only the internal battery discharges - then takes me to low power, plug in your charger, without discharging the external battery. I've installed all the latest updates for drivers and BIOS. With the laptop plugged in, the external battery is charging. But when I disconnect the AC it tells me the internal battery is 'in use' and gives me an estimated battery life based only on the single internal battery.

Good morning! Ok here's the deal. I've purchased a used thinkpad a few month ago. The laptop itself works fine, there is no problem with the functionality of it. However since then, I've already had a head crash on the hard drive. It was a Hitachi hard drive and you guys know about them and their crappy reputation with notepad HDs. I've since replaced it with a IBM travelstar, and I think that should solve that problem. SInce that problem, I've noticed a weird problem with the battery. I plug it in and charge the battery fully, then I use the laptop for about 15 to 20 minutes, then it prompts me that I should save any unsaved data and charge the battery or plug into the wall immediately. SO it goes from 100% down to 3% very quickly. The weird part is that it does not descend. I mean it just jumps from 100% down to practically nothing in the snap of a finger. I would have guessed that it would go down to 90% then 70% then 50% etc.... Being a relatively new Laptop owner, I'm not familiar with the way a battery craps out. I would have thought it would be a gradual deterioration, not a sudden meltdown. I must add that I leave the laptop in the docking station when not in use, in a constant charging state. Is this wrong? Am I supposed to unplug it from the wall as soon as it's fully charged? Also, I use a power inverter occasionally and use it in my truck. Would this have any effect on it? Basically, I am trying to get a good feel for the Do'... Read more

A:IBM Thinkpad 600x batteries.

I got my answer.

Well after some homework on the subject on forums like this one, I've discovered what may have happened here. It seems as I overcharged my battery by leaving it plugged to the wall when using it at home. It seems the concensus is to either run the battery all the way down before pluggin in and charging or removing the battery when using it at home. If the battery needs to be in place then I can probably use my old battery now that it's thrashed, and replace it with my new battery whever I get one, to use away from home. Some lessons can be pretty expensive!:blackeye:

Hello, all. I am trying to upgrade my Thinkpad X260 to a 16GB stick of ram. The exact item I bought is called "Crucial 16GB Single DDR4 2133 MT/s (PC4-17000) DR x8 SODIMM 260-Pin Memory - CT16G4SFD8213" on Amazon.com . After installing the memory module (correctly, using the video Lenovo provides on youtube), the laptop won't boot. I can't even get into the bios, although the green bower button lights up. I'm very confused as I did a lot of research to make sure this ram is supported by my thinkpad: The Thinkpad platform specifications list the memory as "2133MHz DDR4" with a 16GB maxThe voltage on my ram is 1.2V, the same voltage that the thinkpad x260 supportsIt's also "260-pin memory", the same as the original ram. What could possibly be going on? Why won't my laptop boot with the RAM upgrade?

Is it male or female? I would have ordered the cable from Lenovo, but my boss wants a 3-foot black cable, nothing else.

Hi all, Would it be posible to install the Full HD 400 nit x250 display on a X260 (with almost the same specs, but 300 nit brightness)? The screen brigtness on a X260 is just to low for me. Looks like 50% brightness. Regards, Marco.
