IE11 this page can't be displayed (in EDGE - Hmm, we can't reach this page)

Q: IE11 this page can't be displayed (in EDGE - Hmm, we can't reach this page)

Hi,
1. I cannot find a solution for a problem accessing Microsoft forums websites from Windows 10 - IE11 and Edge browsers:
in EDGE - Hmm, we can't reach this page. IE11 this page can't be displayed.
For about a year it worked at least from Edge. Now both cannot access Microsoft forums. All the other sites are accessible.
I am using a corporate proxy. The same sites are accessible from Windows 7 with IE11.
First I blamed our IE GPO with multiple settings. So for a test I placed my machine in Blocked OU (no IE GPO, proxy is set from different GPO).
Everything what I tried didn't help. The question: why just Microsoft forums (no other sites) are not accessible.
Did couple of tests from Windows 7 IE11 machines. The same Microsoft forums are perfectly accessible (all GPOs are applied).
Suddenly, found that one corporate Web App does the same : "This page can't be displayed". On other Windows 7 it does work.
I am out of ideas now... cannot blame anymore our GPO or proxy...
Any advice?
Thanks

Preferred Solution: IE11 this page can't be displayed (in EDGE - Hmm, we can't reach this page)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've set Google as my search provider in Edge. If I open a new tab and type where it says: Search or enter web address, I get:

Hmm, we can?t reach this page.

Try this
?Make sure you?ve got the right URL: http://windows%207%20iso%20download
?Refresh the page
?Search for what you want

If I click on the last option, a search opens in Bing.

This is driving me crazy!

A:Edge: Hmm, we cant reach this page?

Does Google look ok as the default search provider in advanced options?

I just tried

Went to Google home page
brought up settings\advanced
clicked the drop down for search box and selected add new
it showed me google was available and I clicked add as default

are these the same steps you took?

Hi,

I'm running Win 7 Pro x64 and IE11. I often get a situation while browsing where I click on a link to read an article and the page comes up blank with the text: This page can't be displayed.

This condition seems to happen randomly. I usually have several tabs open. Once IE11 starts doing this, the majority of tabs produce the same blank page. I even opened a new tab and clicked on Google where the same thing happened.

The solution is to close IE11 and restart IE11. I've tried other solutions such as a complete IE11 reset, but that doesn't cure the issue.

Is there a fix for this condition?

Hello,
sorry, i'm not a computer wizard although I know my way around a bunch of these things.  Have the strangest thing, which I can't figure out.  I have this website, which is giving me always the "Page can't be displayed" error, together
with the TLS and RC4 comments.
Strangly enough, this is the only site where this happens.  All other various sites are accessible (e.g. Google, Facebook, Youtube), so it doesn't seem to be a connectivity problem.   FYI : i also get this same problem with Chrome.
I believe I had no problems with this on my previous computer, who also had IE11.  It must be some of the security settings or some kind of access right, although nothing special is installed.
I have the TLS 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 turned on.  I also tried using the SSL 2.0 & 3.0 but no success.
Any suggestions ?

IE11 on this computer abruptly stopped displaying websites with "This page can?t be displayed" error. Firefox on the same machine seems to function properly. No other obvious anomalies. Users software requires IE11 so it's critical to use that browser. Looks as if the virus software may be expired. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello,

I am unable to access Sign in to your Microsoft account on my desktop computer running Windows 10 on a home Ethernet network using Edge and IE11. I am connected to the Internet through a Fritz!Box 7490 DSL connection.

I originally tried to solve this problem as a network issue - and it may still turn out to be one - but since I am able to log in to my live.com account using Google Chrome on this computer and from Linux and OS X machines on the network, I am now looking at the possibility that it is some setting shared by Edge and IE11 that is causing my problem.

A secondary effect of this problem is that I am unable to activate Office 365 products, because once I enter my account email address, the activation process wants to take me to live.com to confirm my subscription.

I have seen a number of posts on this and other sites about the "Hmm..." messages, and that's the message I am shown when I try to access login.live.com. Since, in all of the other posts, the issue was a complete inability of Edge to access the sites, this seems to me to be something different. Thus, I started a new thread rather than add to one of the others.

I will be grateful for any and all suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Cheers,
hussar

Hi
got a couple of win 10 ent machines which are having issues using ie 11 to get to an intranet page, which links to pdfs which exist on a local server.
Edge gets there fine on the same machine, but there is an issue with edge, so we can't use it for most things.
If I copy the url from the address line in ie11 and paste it in an explorer window it gets to the pdf with no problems, and I can also paste it into chrome and edge, although chrome won't allow the link to opened at all.
I have uninstalled and re-installed ie11 and made sure other pdfs work, which they do.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I'm having three problems.......

1.) For some reason, when I do a search and click on the site that I am interested in, it goes to a totally different site. I have to go back to the search engines site and click it two more times before it takes me to the site I requested.

2.) When I'm online playing Pogo, sometimes I get kicked out because a pop up appears in the page that I'm playing on.

3.) When I log onto Yahoo Messenger, my screen gets real small. I have to go to the Control Panel and maximize it again. It does it periodically other times as well, but mostly when I log on to Yahoo Messenger.

Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how I can get rid of it????

Thanks In Advance,

2. Enter any member No and pin code and login
3. Box indicates 'you are about to view pages over a secure connection'. Click OK
4. Requested page does not display. Status bar first indicates 'Opening page https://secure.qmiles.com/FrontPage.jsp', then changes to 'Connecting to 213.130.112.202', and finally 'Done', and displays a page saying 'Page cannot be displayed'

I use windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 and Tiscali broadband. This same problem exists at 4 Tiscali broadband site I have checked in this area, but works OK at an AOL site, and also at 1 Tiscali broadband site a few miles away.
Can you suggest what I should do to be able to view the login page?
This is not a security or firewall problem, as the problem is present even when antivirus and firewall are turned off. As the site is accessible from another site, it does not appear to be a security problem. I can access the secure bank sites.

I can get to first link but second IP comes as unavailable. Perhaps the page is generated uniquely based on input you provide when logged in and cookies you have on your machine. There was a temporary DNS error. Try refreshing page

Error code: TNET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND

This is what is happening to all my browsers except Google Chrome in win10 although not the same error message in all browsers or no error message at all. Sometime it'll just say connection timed out or just crash. It only does this when trying to open indexed search results in google or a non-facebook, youtube and gmail sites. It wont open up sourceforge, cnet or MSN start page but i can play youtube videos.

The only reason i am allowed to create thread on this forum is thanks to Linux Mint. I've no such problems in Mint like the ones im having on the other end. I don't know what could of went wrong but these browser errors are crippling my windows.

That is when using Edge.  Similar type of messages happen when trying to get to the same page in Chrome and in Internet Explorer.  I changed the website name, giving a fake one instead of the real one.

My guess is that something is wrong at the website's end and not at my end since I can reach all other sites; just not one particular one.  Any good way to check on this?  Any other way of testing the vaidness or health of the website?

I have had this issue so much more often the past week with Edge than my entire time using Windows 10. Is anyone else seeing a increase in this? I cant tell if its a wifi problem (all my other devices using wifi are fine) or a problem caused by a recent update or what, but its so aggravating.

Any tricks or suggestions before I just ditch the Edge browser and rely only on Chrome?

We have 2 wired pc, and a laptop. The PCs are Acer3100+, 1.8ghz, 1G ram, connected via ethernet to a wildblue modem. I have just installed a Belkin wireless router, model F5D 6231-4, that I bought on ebay. Both pcs will go online, a little slower than before, but my big concern is that when I run a cmd, ipconfig/all, my IP address dosen't match what they say. Belkin says it should be 192.168.1, and I get 70.41.xx.xxx, in this range. They said to configure router, but when I enter that page address, I get the notice of a network error. I don't know enough about this to know if this is a security issue or not! If I manually enter the numbers that Belkin should be , I get the correct address in an ipconfig, but I cannot get to the page, or get online. What have I done wrong!!!!

A:Can't reach Belkin configuration page..is this a problem???

the Belkin default address is 192.168.2.1

you're apparently wired like
modem---(wan)belkin-router(LAN)---yourPCs

the WAN side address will be set by your ISP, not belkin and might well be
70.41.xx.xxx, but none of your PCs will see this using IPCONFIG /ALL --
they will see the LAN side addresses. IPCONFIG will show the DHCP address
given to that specific machine. the LAN side address of the belkin should be
the default above, and thus your PC addresses will default to something like
192.168.2.x.

use one PC to access the router config using your browser http://192.168.2.1/
IF NECESSARY, you can change the default router address and the range of IP
addresses that will be assigned to your PCs.

you should absolutely change the admin password

When I try to go to the same page as the working browser I get the samel thing. It's like the second browser is not connectted to the internet. I can't even download anything successfully. My unsuccessful attempts to fix it. 1. I've tried windows recovery which didn't work, problem remains.2. I've downloaded official Lenovo recovery tool, made the order to download and create recovery USB for my serial number and I've run it, unfortunately problem still remains. I suspect that none of those recovery images reset BIOS to previous version and I'm not even sure how could BIOS screw up internet this way, I'm thinking to try dowload some old BIOS version and install it but not sure which version and how to find it.I would appreciate any sort of help. Thank you.

Since the problem have persisted even after reformatting, that rules out malware. I suggest you make enquiries with your ISP.

Btw, you should install an antivirus program on this machine

Please Help! I keep getting a "This Page Can Not Be Displayed" message. Recently it has started when I try to use a link in messages on my Yahoo mail from eBay. There will be a link to the auction. When I click on it, I get the error message. I also get the message on the opening mail page on Yahoo. The advertisements on the right side of the page get blocked. I can still use the mail. I run WindowsXP, EZantivirus, Spysweeper, Windows Defender beta. I have checked off all the security settings that the error message tells me to. I have tried clearing the cache, shutting off pop-up blocker, firewall, anti-spam, and anti-virus programs. With no success. Any suggestions? Monty

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and I would really appriciate some help, I don't know what to do?? I'm sorry about the lengthly text, but i didn't want to miss anything.

About a month ago I had some serious spyware on my PC. I have since been able to get rid of the majority of these by using SpySheriff, SpyCatcher and SpyBlaster. As well as a Security Task Manager and Start Up. Now I am unable to connect to Ebay login, hotmail and msn messenger through IE6 (which i've used for about 3 years) it keeps displaying a page 'Error Connecting' 'The Page Cannot be Displayed'. I downloaded IE7 but wouldn't load up the homepage, it displayed the same 'The Page Cannot be Displayed'. So I downloaded FireFox and again, it showed a page 'The Page Cannot be Displayed'.

Under the Tools option on my web brower i chose to 'Diagnose Connection Problems' and it came up saying

HTTP, HTTPS, FTP Diagnostic

I nearly forgot to mention that everytime I open up IE a box pops up saying

iedw.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b). Click on OK to terminate the application.

If ok is clicked I then get the window pop up to say ie has encountered a problem, Send or Don't Send the report.

I can still the IE unless I choose ok, so i push the box aside and carry on. It doesn't do this in Safe Mode.

I'm having issues connecting to one website that I've verified is up, but not for me.

Windows Network Diagnostics seems to indicates a problem with this website, but not for the internet in general.

The windows network diagnostics report:

Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this issue. I don't think there is anything wrong with my DSL modem.

I'm haveing a recurring problem with not being able to complete purchases on the internet because when I click the "checkout" button, the next screen is "this page cannot be displayed." It happens whether I use MSIE or Advanced Browser. I thought it might be an http 1.1 problem, but it doesn't matter whether that's on or off.

It's somewhat maddening since I need to purchase several items from different sites and can't get there. I even contacted one of the sites who told me the problem was my computer, not their website. Can anyone help???

Have you tried refreshing the page? Sometimes that helps. Another thought - although a pain, I have active scripting set to prompt in internet options. Do you have scripting turned off? If the page requires scripting and yours is turned off, you will get that message.
I hope this helped.
Sincerely, Libra

Read this.

If no luck, try booting in Safe Mode with Networking and

Please click here to download and install the HijackThis installer.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything

If you can't, try downloading HijackThis from a working computer. Copy the installer to a USB flash drive and plug it into your faulty computer. Run the program as described above.

try typing "ipconfig /flushdns" from the command prompt?

I am having a similar issue with a single website (a subscription based data site). Nothing works for me. Have tried skipping DNS alltogether -- no luck. I am going to contact the tech services for the site and will post back with anything that works or appears remotely helpful.

Good luck!

I'm using IE11 on my Window8.1 pc and frequently get the message " This page can't be displayed" on any and every site including eightforums. I found that opening a command prompt and entering the following commands helps (ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter, ipconfig /release and hit enter, ipconfig /renew ) but I hope there's a better solution than to keep doing that. Any ideas ?

Hello LetMeIn,

It could be a temporary issue with your ISP's DNS server. As a test, try using Google Public DNS to see how the sites load afterwards.

Hello,

I have been unable to connect to the internet getting the "this page cannot be displayed" message. I performed the diagnostic and pasted the log below along with the highjackthis log file.

I believe I was infected by a virus or malware but have since ran combofix and other virus programs. My computer is pretty old so I took some risks and tried several XP TCP/IP repair programs.

In Registry Editor, I deleted following keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2

I think this maybe part of the problem now.

I have now went through the 5 steps before posting. However, I was unable to load microsoft updates since I cannot connect to the internet. I am running service pak2.

I'm a little frazzled trying to figure out why I cannot connect to the internet. I keep getting page cannot be displayed. I performed the IE diagnostics and i have cut and pasted the log file below.

Also below is the Panda Log file and the highjackthis report.

I really appreciate any help or hints that would get be back on line.

Thanks again.

Is there a reason why one particular web page could not be loaded from a specific computer?

I am trying to connect to www.bloomberg.com on my machine at work. I get the error message in the subject. I can surf around to anywhere else I like except there. And this means no other pages for that site. Like www.bloomberg.com/bbn/.

I have gone to other computer in my office and been able to connect with no problem. I have also cleared the browser cache and history. I have checked the security settings to find if it was restricted. I've also checked my content advisor to see if it was disabled. None of this has yet worked.

I am using IE 5.5 on Win 98 SE.
Any thoughts on this?

Thanks,

Keith

A:Page Can't be Displayed

That page uses java. Check your java settings. Check to make sure that the virtual machine is current.

Are you running any sort of adblocker?

Check your proxy settings. Are you using a proxy? If is, try turning it off.

On your advance internet options, check to see if the JIT is enabled.

Also, check your hosts file. To check it, do a search on your computer for hosts

There is not an extension on the one you want. When you find it, open it up and see if there are any entries that might reference that website.
