I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I can remotely connect to my private network through my Nortel VPN client. I am given an IP address for that private network. However, I cannot ping the DNS or WINS servers or any of my 5 servers.

My system running the Nortel VPN client is a Windows Server 2003 SP3 server.

A:Can connect to private network but cannot connect to servers on it

I am still unable to connect to any of the servers on my private network after I VPN to that private network. I guess because I didn't make an actual question statement, no one replied to my post.

Does anyone have any ideas on why I cannot connect to the remote servers on a private network when I use Nortel VPN client on my Windows Server 2003 computer? I can connect to the private network. I am given a private network IP address and 2 DNS IP addresses and 2 WINS IP addresses. However, I cannot ping any of these servers or any of my application servers on that private network.

I'm at a loss at what might be going on.

Any suggestions are greatly appeciated.

Ok... For a while I thought it was my network that was causing these problems, but I went to a friends and brother my laptop, still couldn't connect to many different things (Itunes store, online games, updating Malwarebytes and AVG). Someone told me that it may be malware that is stopping me from updating my security, and told me to try and update them in safe mode with networking. It still didn't work, so now I come here for help. Oh and my CPU usage will occasionally jump to ~70% when just browsing the internet if that relates to my problem

Like the title says, I can't connect to anything server-related. My internet works fine as I am here typing this.. I noticed the problem started on Battle.net. I finished a custom game and went to join another but no matter what, they would tell me the game was closed or full. but I could refresh and see new games being created. Then if I exit battle.net and try to reconnect, it won't let me even connect and says my internet is down.. Then I open steam and can't connect there. No matter what game (War3, CoH, Steam, Shattered Galaxy), I can't connect to the server but I can get on Yahoo! messenger and AIM. I've had this cpu and router for a while and never had this sort of problem before. I've been messing around and changing settings and nothing seems to fix it for a long period.

There is ONE weird thing and I don't know if it's related.. I've been having this problem for a while but I noticed that when my roommate (and his laptop) were not here, the problem didn't occur. I thought it was fixed, but today it's back and so is he. I don't know if it's a coincidence or how his laptop could possibly affect my cpu like this, but if you can help I'd be so happy.

Thanks!

A:Can't Connect to ANY servers

Sounds like the issue is with your router only routing your modem to one device, what kind of router do you have? I have had a similar problem and fixed it by changing my router settings to Gateway. If that doesn't work, google port forwarding and forward your ports to your PC.

Also, have you actually talked to anyone on AIM and Yahoo messenger? Because they could be false connections.

Hi there,

I'm having an issue with my work computer where it can connect to all of the servers in the company accross the country EXCEPT the servers located in New Jersey. I am running Windows XP SP3. I am able to ping the servers and get a response back, but my network drives are disconnected and I cannot open them. I have tried completely uninstalling the driver for my network adapter and reinstalling it with no affect. Mine is the only computer having this problem and I have uninstalled all software that was installed within the past month to be sure. It is ALL of the servers in New Jersey so I know it's a problem with my computer and not the serers. I had a similar issue a while ago where I could ping Google, but could not get to the website, and that ended up being the ZoneAlarm firewall that I had. That was fixed by uninstalling ZoneAlarm and doing an ipconfig /release & /renew.

My IT guy and I are completely stumped here and just don't know what to try next. I have read some posts about similar situations and re-registered some dlls but that didnt help either.

Please let me know if there is anything else that you can think of to try and get my computer to access the servers.

Thanks so much!
Evan

A:Cannot Connect to Certain Servers

There used to be a ZoneAlarm Removal Tool to clean up the mess ZA leaves behind, but it seems to have disappeared from the web. I guess you're now supposed to reinstall Windows to extinguish ZA's blockages.

You didn't install another firewall, right?

I've got this strange problem, would appreciate any help:

I have web space with two different companies,

I can load Internet Explorer and connect to them fine by entering the addresses into the address bar.

However, I can't connect to them using BulletProof or CoffeeCup ftp software.
When i try either server using either program, I get an error. In BulletProof it says error 10061 connection refused

Does anyone know if there is any options which might prevent me connecting through ftp software? or why this might be happening?

I presume it is a problem with my machine rather than my ISP restricting something, as I can connect using IE, which seems wierd.

I'm using Windows XP on dial-up net connection, with IE 6.

If anyone has any ideas I'd be most appreciative

I'm pretty sure that Unreal Tournament uses the Quake 3 engine which is prone to this issue.

I don't know all of the solutions off the top of my head, but the most common one is that you need to patch the game. You are probably trying to connect to a server that is using a newer updating version of the game than what you have. Just google for Unreal Tournament 3 patch.

I play a lot of computer games and generally I end up hosting the server for my friends.
A month or two back I had my PC die and just managed to fix it today with a new motherboard. I switched my Asus P8 P67 LE for a P8 Z77-V LX.
The motherboard seems to work fine and everything's going great except for the fact that suddenly no one can connect to any servers I host. I've been around the block and I understand port forwarding, so I know that's not my problem. We've tested on minecraft and the source engine, whenever I give someone my external IP (from whatsmyip.com) and they try to connect to it their connection times out. I can connect to the server on localhost just fine, but when I try to connect to myself through the external IP (Which usually works fine in minecraft) even I timeout.
I installed the realtek drivers that came with the motherboard so I'm really not sure what's up. Everything worked fine before the switch. Any idea what's up?

Using a
Linksys E1550 router.

I can get more information as needed.

Hello,

My laptop is able to connect to the internet, browse facebook, email, and the like, but when I try to connect to "application servers" (Thats the best way I can describe it) I am told that I dont have an internet connection or that I cant connect to the server at this time. Like I said, I am perfectly able to access the internet, but when I try to register my Kindle application with my account, or when I try to connect to the ubisoft servers to play Assassins Creed 2, or when I try to register my Byki application (language learner software) I am unable to connect. I'm not a tech expert, but I know enough about computers to tinker and look for problems, and have looked into everything I can think of.

I don't believe its an issue with my wifi because other laptops using the same home wifi network are able to do the very things that my computer cant. I am in portugal for a few months, but again, the computer right next to me has no problems registering the same applications. Any help would greatly appreciated.

Why hello there

Today I felt like playing a cheeky bit of PUBG but every game I got connected to I was stuck in the loading screen and then timed out... I assumed it was something wrong with the game and so started to reinstall it.
Later someone asked me for help on Dark Souls III but every time they tried to summon me the connection timed out. After this happening I restarted my router and tried again to no avail and so I tried connecting to both TF2 and BL2 servers and just timed out. I'm not someone who is very good with this sort of stuff so any help would be appreciated.

Basically I just time out every time I try and connect to something and nothing I've seen on Google has been any help

Running Windows 7 Ultimate With Linksys WRT54GS2 router on Clear WiMAX modem.

Outlook and Thunderbird will not work when the router is connected with the error could not find servers (one for gmail and one to my website host). I tried all the firewall solutions and router settings. When I unplug the router and connect directly with the modem, no problems. It would seem its the router but I think not.

I think its the network set up that happens when connecting to anything that forms a network. I notice that direct cat5 cable connections to other computers starts problems like loss of FTP and this is without a router. Is it possible its a port conflict that occurs when the system sets up a network or something in the network set up that blocks ports?

I have tried all firewall AV and router issues. I checked services to be sure nothing was disabled. I am at a loss. If its a registry or host file issue its beyond me. Thanks for any advice.

Hi, i'v been having a problem with my internet since october 2011. the problem i have is i cannot play ANY games online. i own an xbox, ps3 and gaming computer all with no luck in gaming. what happens exactly is call of duty on xbox 360 i can get onto xbox live join a room to play but as soon as i am in it lags for 10 seconds or so then boots me out saying lost connection to server. thought maybe it was my xbox so i tried my ps3 which had the same effect with a different game. i'v also tried battlefield on my computer which came up the same problem, disconnected from server instantly. i'v contacted my isp several times hoping they can figure out a solution, and when i say several i mean atleast 15 times. noone can seem to figure out a solution. my speed tests all come back good, and so do my ping tests. i had a technician come out and change my equipment on the roof because i thought maybe it was faulty which never helped. and i'v also went out and bought a brand new router, which never helped either. i'v tried connecting all my systems up directly to the modem and with no luck. i'm hoping someone can help me out, thank you!!
OH and my isp is xplornet and its fixed wireless internet, also i ran this for over a year with no problems playing online and they have tried me on a static ip which did not work either.

Anybody have ideas? I'd really like to play my games on Windows 8.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but it's definitely an internet problem.

Started happening several days ago...

When I try to play multiplayer on Age of Empires 3 vanilla it always says "Failed to connect to ESO servers" after hanging for a little big on the "Connecting to ESO..." part.

My internet is working fine, as I can browse and play other online games without a hitch.

I've tried turning off windows firewall, disabling windows security essential real time protection, and turning off the verizon router firewall.
I've tried port forwarding, resetting my routers, and system restore, no results.
I tried playing on a different computer on the same network, and got the same problem, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with just my computer. I know the servers aren't down because my friend was playing at his house during this time no problem.

Grrr what should I do? Suggestions? Thanks!!

Hello stevek1948,- Download TCP View from here : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb897437.aspx- Run it and leave the window open.- Now run one of your programs (for example say Notepad++), and try to update it.- You would see the exe name, local address and remote address in the TCPView. If the address is not fully visible stretch the column width. When an EXE starts to make connection, it shows in green color. After connection is established it is white. When it is terminated it shows in red for a fraction of a second. Be quick to note as this happens very fast.Post here your findings.

This also applies when I setup my own private server.

So I need help to find out why, but I do not know where to start looking.

Nothing works, I must say that I hear a lot about you need to forward UDP port #### and TCL(I thinks thats what it is called) port # however I have only 1 area where I can forward ports and and it does not say what type it is, just NAT.

It is a good modem which runs well with a couple of PCs running the net at once, as it has bandwidth management.

So where do I start looking, a mate said I should check with my provider maybe they have some sort of setup which causes problems, if so what do I need to ask them?

Hi and welcome.

Lets take a look.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Make sure that under Optional Scans, there is a checkmark on Addition.txt and Shortcut.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another two logs (Addition.txt and Shortcut.txt). Please attach these to your reply.

Seems like it must be just a simple key stroke somewhere that is causing "unable to connect with this server" error.

I posted earlier about not being able to connect to CS servers, and I tried everything- opening ports, reinstalling the game, updating EVERYTHING on my computer, and resetting my wireless connection. However, I recently discovered that I also can't connect to mIRC servers. I tried connecting to some DFBHD servers also, but those don't work either... I can however connect to battle.net, where I can both join and host games. Any suggestions!? This is getting really frustrating!!!

I'm wondering if it's a program blocking it or is it something else.

So, I am a frequent csgo player and since I've upgraded my internet and got a new router I've been experiencing problems with browsing servers, sometimes they load and I can join, sometime's they don't show up at all.

I also tested this in Minecraft and it was the same case.

I can go onto any website it just seems to be a problem I have with games

Pretty sure isn't a port problem ( But I could be wrong )

and I am on Mac OSX El Capitan

I cannot connect to most game servers online (SA:MP).

I can connect to a few for some unknown reason.

This only occurs on my portable laptop, a Lenovo T400, whether using the built-in wireless connection or a wired connection to the wireless router, a Thompson *BOX.

I can connect to servers fine using my desktop computer.

I have run firewall.cpl and turned firewalls to off (not recommended)

What is going on?

The ethernet cable that runs from your desktop to your router - can you run this to your laptop and see if you can reach the game servers.

I have Win 7 installed. When I launch CS - CZ, in the favourite servers, it quickly shows the maps on those servers and then shows them as unavailable.

I've tried all the combinations with firewalls and enabling the necessary ports.

I am unable to connect to servers available on the net.

Please help.

I can browse all over and download from nearly anywhere EXCEPT Microsoft's download servers and AVGs update server.

Using XP Home SP2 (build 2600). I use Firefox as my primary browser, but while troubleshooting this problem have tried everything in IE7 as well.

This has been going on for months, but I've only realized it in stages:
1- Months ago, tried to download SP3 and had some kind of trouble, so I gave it up as not important.
2- Then my ISP (Verizon High Speed Internet) decided to discontinue the free security package they used to provide thru Yahoo. I researched a little and decided to switch to Avira with Windows Defender. Loaded Avira okay, but trying to get Defender, I needed to run the MS Genuine Verification thing, but I couldn't download it. Gave up, uninstalled Avira and installed AVG free instead.
3- Later, needed to install an application (Media Center from NetLibrary) that wanted the .NET framework which, for some reason, isn't installed on my system (or isn't installed properly). Couldn't download the Framework.

This was when I got stubborn and spent many hours trying to track down issue. I can access all MS web pages, but whenever I click a link that takes me to an http://download.microsoft.whatever link, I get a message saying I can't make a connection with the server.
I figured that something was blocking access, so I messed around with AVG settings, Windows Firewall settings, with no result. To rule stuff out, I start... Read more

A:Can't connect to MS Dowload servers

Are you still experiencing this issue?

What is the EXACT message you get when trying to access the download server?

Can you access sites that use SSL? Almost all of your bank sites use SSL when you go to the "online banking" login page. Please try one and see if you can get the "LOCK" in Internet Explorer to display at the top.

One thing you may wish to check is your HOST file. The host file is located in \system32\drivers\etc folder of your Windows installation directory (usually Windows). Open this file with NOTEPAD and see if there are any entries for the sites you cannot visit.

Thanks!

I have a HP Pavilion comp with a 500 Mhz Intel Celeron processor, 13GB hard drive, 64 MB of memory, and running Win98se. I use a 56K to connect to the internet.
I've just recently replaced my Hard Drive and I guess that's when it happened. When I try to connect to a game server, a popup tells me that I "Failed to connect to server"...

TY if you can help, same if you can't.

My dad updated our modem recently when we changed to a faster, broadband internet connection (Comcast). However, after this happened, I found out that I would disconnect from game servers in a short amount of time or could not connect to them at all. All that happens is the generic "This page could not be displayed..." message. I'm pretty sure this isn't a firewall problem, as I have tried with firewalls down before, nor is it a port forwarding problem, as I have made sure the correct ports are open and forwarded. Besides games, I can still surf the internet fine through browsers, but for in-browser MMORPGs, I also tend to disconnect frequently. Many other programs that access the internet also seem to have this problem, such as Outlook, in which I could access my email fine before but now can not connect.

My dad refuses to help (he thinks I shouldn't be playing games in the first place), but I hope someone out there can. Thanks.

Specs:
Port Software- Airlink101-AR410W
Internet Connection: Comcast Broadband through a cable (Non-WLAN)
Computer: Microsoft XP Professional, Pentium 4, etc.
Firewalls: Norton 360, McAfee, Windows Firewall

I wonder if "actively refused" means the site is blacklisted, i.e. by malware. They sometimes prevent you from accessing sites that will allow you to become aware of their existance, and/or fix them, such as windows update, mcafee, symantec, etc...

If it's firewall, then turning off/disabling the firewall should fix the problem.

Have you tried that?
