I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Configuration: Office laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) and MS Office 2007 Pro; attached to MS Exchange Server 2003 using Cached Exchange Mode. Everything was working fine until I took laptop home, connected to my home network, VPN'ed into my office, and then returned to the office. Logged on and connected to Windows Server 2003 as usual. With one email in outbox, I Send/Receive and Outlook now reports sending 3 of 3. I think I noticed while VPN'ed into the office at home that it reported sending 2 of 2 with only one email in the outbox. What's up with this??? Thanks for any guidance.

Out of curiosity, I went to check on my Win7 OS liscense....

I opened cmd and typed .......slmgr /dlv

One line caught my attention : Remaining Windows rearm count : 1

What does that mean ?

Thank you.

A:Remaining Windows rearm count : 1

You can actually install windows without giving the key number. You are allowed a certain number of days to give the number or you will lose use of Windows. In addition you can do it so many times (rearm). It probably does not apply to you any longer but you can do it once more.

So I have an ASUS X5DIJ Laptop, I have MS Office Pro Plus 2010 on there and I might be downgrading from Windows 7 64bit to 32bit. I have already activated MS Office at once. However, if I downgrade and reactivate, would it count as a second activation or would it keep the activation count as 1 activation?

Reply soon,

A:Would downgrading from 64 bit windows 7 to 32 bit count as a separate activation of M

If the installation is different, it would be a second activation. Generally you can get away with 3 activation attempts on Office before it fails and you have to call though.

Any reason why you'd switch from Win7 64 to 32bit?

I've previously posted for help under "Performance & Maintenance". I thought it would be more appropriate to ask for help here.

I believe I've a corrupt file system/registry. The windows explorer hangs a lot. I've a hard time accessing files on the hard drive. Ran Malwarebytes, NOD32 online scanner. It's all clean. SFC doesn't run.

So, I've run SFCfix.exe & attached the most recent version of SFCfix.txt & CBS.zip.

I've attempted some repairs by running Windows Update Readiness tool, looking at CHECKSUR.log, by downloading the individual updates mentioned in the log, placing them in C:\windows\temp\checksur\packages folder, and running WURT again & the summary of checksur.log reads.

Hi :)

So I originally had Windows Media Player 10 installed, and then I upgraded to Media Player 11 for a few months. After a while, I decided I didn't like it, so I rolled back to Media Player 10, but all my play count data has been reverted to back before I installed Media Player 11.

I would like to know if there was a way I could restore that play count data if at all possible. It's not a big problem, I know, but it's a problem nonetheless and I would like it fixed.

Thanks in advance :)

Alright. I don't know what got into, but my mom's computer is wacked. I'm on it right now and I've manually deleted many viruses from using norton free scanner(sucks so bad), and then ran ewido micro and found more than 130 cookies and maybe 10-20 of them were viruses like trojans, downloaders, etc. I've gotten this computer already working 10x better than before. By the way, We use mozilla and deleted Internet explorer.

-1- An Internet explorer popup(even though it's uninstalled and removed) that talk about like IP:XXXXXXXX with numbers and stuff, I just don't know exactly what it is, it only pops up every so often, randomly

-2- I'm getting WinAntiSpyware 2007 popups on firefox and like a spyware detected box, which minimizes firefox until u click cancel or whatever and then firefox comes back up on an anti-spyware site..

A:count if excel

It should not be hard for you to try & see.
Just take a count now, add the word alpha to a cell. If it is just counting the number of cells wit 'a', it should only count once. If it is counting number of times 'a' is used, then it will count twice.

What is a fair way of counting Web traffic? Especially in relation say, to newspaper circulation?

I've heard one blogger say that his blog is equivalent to the 5th largest newspaper in the U.S.

But, can you count every "hit"?

Tom Tomorrow, of "This Modern World" blog wrote:

"If Blog X, with comments, has 50,000 readers a day, does it really have 50,000 unique readers a day, or 25,000 readers checking in twice a day? Or 5,000 readers checking in ten times a day to see what’s being said in the comments section? (Or one really obsessive reader checking in 50,000 times a day?) A blogger with much higher traffic than mine once admitted to me, somewhat furtively, that any visitor who waits at least an hour between visits counts as a new unique visitor."

Also, what Tom Tomorrow didn't say is that you may have false hits...
That is, someone "googles" the words "world of tomorrow" trying to get a site that predicts the future and mistakenly gets Tom Tomorrow's political site -- then the guy immediately leaves the site...but he's been counted!

It's equivalent to someone who passes by on the street and glances for a second at a copy of the Washington Post in the newsstand before walking on. Should the glancer be counted as a reader? But that's how the bloggers count their readership.

So, my question is: what is a fair way to count blog traffic (to compare it to newspaper circulation)? IS there an... Read more

Now that your log is properly posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a Malware Removal Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.From this point on the Malware Removal Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the Malware Removal Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the Malware Removal Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRL Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic.

My name is Laura and my 2 year old Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 has slowed to a crawl. Two of my four children currently rely on it to do their homework assignments. The other day I got a weird phone call from a man in India who identified himself as a Microsoft tech and told me that my laptop had so many Trojans that it was actually causing problems on their server. He said he wanted to help me get rid of them. He asked me to go into a CMD window and he was instructing me until I saw a line that stated their were more than 7,000 Trojans! I eventually figured out what I suspected all along. He did not actually represent MS but a separate company and for $177 he would clean them off and clean all the PCs in our home. Before this though, I gave him remote access to my laptop and when I realized he wasn't with MS I panicked and unplugged my laptop and disconnected the battery to shut it down as quickly as possible. I wish I knew more and could tell you more but I am not at all tech savvy. Thank you beforehand for your help!

A:Trojans: too many to count!

Hello Laura,

That was a very smart move, good for you for trusting your gut and doing an immediate disconnect.

Since this Windows 7, my first recommendation is to utilize System Restore. These are the restore points I see available to you:

==== System Restore Points ===================
RP162: 12/5/2012 7:12:44 PM - Scheduled Checkpoint
RP163: 12/12/2012 9:41:43 AM - Windows Update
RP164: 12/20/2012 2:05:43 AM - Scheduled Checkpoint
RP165: 1/1/2013 3:00:24 AM - Windows Update
RP166: 1/9/2013 10:35:07 PM - Scheduled Checkpoint
RP167: 1/10/2013 9:20:24 AM - Windows Update
RP168: 1/24/2013 1:00:22 AM - Scheduled Checkpoint
RP169: 2/3/2013 9:40:47 AM - Scheduled Checkpoint
RP170: 2/11/2013 918 PM - Scheduled Checkpoint

To minimize interference, it's best you perform the System Restore without Windows loaded. Restart your computer and tap F8 to bring up the Advanced Menu, then click Repair your computer

Follow the prompt to enter language, keyboard input method, and then the prompt to enter a password. If the machine does not have a password, simply click Enter.

In the next menu, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight System Restore and press Enter.

Follow the prompts to restore to an earlier time. Select the date closest to just before they had remote access. Follow all prompts.

How did that work out for you?

I recently had to re-install Windows XP Professional on my PC, and ever since then, the Freecell statistics do not keep an accurate count of my wins. At first I thought it was a random event, but it just happened a second time. I lost a game (1 loss), then I won a game (2 losses). 2 losses?!? I don't think so. I looked around on the Microsoft support website, but found nothing on this. I know that in the grand scheme of things this isn't an important kind of problem, but it seems to me that if you can't trust your computer to do a simple count, then we're really in trouble. Please advise.

I should know this, but I just can't remember how to do it.

I'm doing a database for a company that offers classes to students. The database is in Access.

They have various divisions that take part in different events throughout the year. One of the things that they do, is provide t-shirts for the kids for the different events.

I've got a report which breaks down like this:

Class Name
Student Name T-Shirt Size
The t-shirt sizes are currently a drop-down menu from a table that the database manager can make changes to if they need to (i.e. add or delete a size).

I'm trying to figure out how to code a count for each t-shirt size at the division level and then at the company wide level. This will allow them to say, "We need 15 small shirts for X division, 10 medium shirts, etc"

Any ideas? I want to run the counts off of the table which shows the table sizes, so that if they change sizes, I won't have to go in and make changes.

p.s. I do already have the Division Footer set-up, so that's already done.

A:Doing A Count In A Footer

A drop-down list would be within a form not a report. I would however recommend that you make a report using the wizard. Within the wizard you can do grouping and group by the two different criteria. While grouping you can do functions on fields like summarizing the data for the different sizes. If you need further assistance feel free to let me know and I will help you out.

Column A: FirstName
Column B: LastName
Column C: Quadrant
Column D: Group

There are four different quadrants (i.e. 1,2,3,4) and three different groups
(Adult, youth, child).
How do I calculate how many Adults are in quadrant 1, how many in quadrant
2, how many in quadrant 3, etc. and the same for the youth and child groups?
I have tried many many times...
Please help,

A:How to count two things at once

Welcome to the board.

1. Enter the quadrants (1, 2, 3, 4) in G1:J1.

2. Enter the groups (Child, Youth, Adult) in F2:F4.

3. Enter this formula in G2:

4. Copy G2 to H2:J2. Then copy G2:J2 to G3:J4.

This is one computer problem I have not been not been able to solve for all most a year, not even with the help of Microsoft Tech Support. Here are the facts: I ran chkdsk last year and it recovered two (2) restore files which I never could find, I searched for those two restore files so I could delete them. Chkdsk totals are: 1,344,000 file records, 1,433, 532 index entries and 1,344,000 security descriptors. My HDD is 250 GB (232.88 GB) Used 113.19 GB and 119.69 Free, my file total, as of this date, is 559,012 files. If I run a repair install (upgrade) Windows searches for system files and settings it's about 110,000 files but when it searches for programs and settings it finds 1,251,000 files.

What I believe happened is although the two restore files are not physically on the drive Windows 7 has added the number of files that were in the two recovered restore files to the existing number. This is the only scenario that makes any sense to me since it would be impossible to have over a million files on a 250 GB or 108 programs.

I believe if we could find the file(s) where this information is kept it can corrected. I began working on computers when Microsoft was in it's infancy, I still have my Seagate 225 HDD (20 MB). I would greatly appreciate your help, this one got me!

HP support assistant says that my battery cycle count is 252/300. My question is ,, how this is calculated ??My laptop is of 9/10 months..What should I do to control the increase rate?How I should charge or discharge the battery ?When the cycle count is exceeds 300 , will the battery work ?Someone please help..thanks in advance..

A:Battery Cycle Count

Hi, Normally "A charge cycle means using all of the battery?s power, but that doesn?t necessarily mean a single charge. For example, you could use your notebook for an hour or more one day, using half its charge, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so it may take several days to complete a cycle" Source: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201585 (Same for many types of batteries now). The following site will tell you all about batteries:        http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/ Depending on the quality of batteries, you can get over 700 charges or more (that why some machines can get 3 years warranty on batteries) but time between charges will get shorter. Regards.

I was wondering if there is a function where it will count only the values that are higher than 0 (as in 1 - whatever) and ignore the 0's?

Still trying to improve my access reports skills (and not doing very well )...

I am running a report from a query that will list several records. in the footer I want it to display the amount of records it is displaying. Looking at Google I have seleted "Totals" in the query which will then display "Group By" in a new "Totals" row.

I then switched to the SQL view and added to the Select section the following...

Count([TableName].[FieldName]) AS TotalCount

Flick back to Design View and I can see the new column but when the query is run (not started to look at the report yet ) I get a new column called "TotalCount" but the result is displayed as 1. The FieldName is the field that the query is searching so I know they are all the same.

My Machspeed K266B motherboard spec's say it supports up to 2GB of 266 mhz RAM. Recently on two separate occasion's I installed (2) 1GB modules. Each time I examined the system recources only 1GB of physical memory as reported. I'm sure all the modues were good. The chipset is VIA KT266 and the BIOS is an Award.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I'll preface this by saying while I'm very experienced with Word (currently using 2003), I've never used macros and don't know a thing about them. What I'm wanting to do is search a large Word document and get a count of the number of occurrences of a specific word or combination of letters. Can something like this be done?

A:Word Count Macro?

(NB: "It will continue to ask for another word until the user clicks on the Cancel button.")

Sub FindWords()
Dim sResponse As String
Dim iCount As Integer

' Input different words until the user clicks cancel
' Identify the word to count
sResponse = InputBox( _
Prompt:="What word do you want to count?", _
Title:="Count Words", Default:="")

If sResponse > "" Then
' Set the counter to zero for each loop
iCount = 0
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
With Selection
.HomeKey Unit:=wdStory
With .Find
.Text = sResponse
' Loop until Word can no longer
' find the search string and
' count each instance
Do While .Execute
iCount = iCount + 1
End With
' show the number of occurences
MsgBox sResponse & " appears " & iCount & " times"
End With
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End If
Loop While sResponse <> ""
End Sub

Alright here is my example. Each table has two columns.

Table 1
a 1
a 2
b 1
b 2
b 3
c 1
c 2
d 1

Table 2
a 1
a 1
b 2

I want to have a query return a list of records from table 1 that are used in table 2 (easy part) and I want to have a third field that counts how many times the record appears in table 2. Table 1 records are distinct. So the query would return:

Query 1
a 1 2
b 2 1

I've been trying to fit the SQL count function but don't have all that much experience.
Thank you in advance!

A:Access SQL Count function

Assuming that you have the "easy part" query listing all of the records, add another column with the Heading
counter: 1
create a query based on that query, set "Totals", Group by the first 2 columns and then set the Counter column to Count.
