Optimizer Pro impossible to get rid of?

Q: Optimizer Pro impossible to get rid of?

I was recently trying to download a file on a trusted site (I'd used the site before without any problems). I found this program called optimizer pro on my desktop, so I deleted and uninstalled the program. A couple days afterwards, I see my computer running super slowly and an Optimizer Pro pop-up appears. I go to uninstall it again, and it says the un-installation files are missing. I go download optimizer pro again for the un-installation files and my computer doesn't complete the download. It says -Network Error-, So I go look up a solution on google chrome and all it says is "Try Again Later". So I'm stuck with Optimizer pro which seemingly slows down my PC, and I can't download anything to get it off of my computer because of the constant network error. So I thought maybe there was a solution inside the OS that someone on here knows about.color=#000099]Edit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum, as suggested by Staff. Preferred Solution: Optimizer Pro impossible to get rid of?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At... Once again, I turn to you guys.
I was FINALLY able to get rid of ShopAtHome Agent by going into the registry line by line (No small task at just over 4 hours) and removing anything that even SMELLED like SAH. Upon removing those, and using Killbox, I was able to remove the files that were keeping it on my system. Now I turn to you guys with a new problem.

I have two things going on. The first are pop-ups. They come up USUALLY about every 6-8 pages.. However sometimes more often. In the title bar they say clkoptimizer.com. Secondly, is this ExitExchange. Every once in a while, I'll load a page, or when I'm leaving a page (It happens at both) I get redirected to somewhere else, and it always says it's part of ExitExchange.

The kicker....
My Adaware and Spybot logs are clean, as is Hijack this. (Log to follow)
I've checked in my registry and can find NO reference. I'm realy stuck. PLEASE HELP!!!!

PC Optimizer Pro recently installed itself onto my computer. It's one of those fake scan things. I looked up some steps on how to remove it and followed them but now every time i turn on my computer it can't even load up the desktop. I'm on a different computer now writing this. The only way I can get on that computer is to start it up in safe mode but even then as soon as it boots up it says a critical error has occurred and will automatically shut down in 1 minute. Since it keeps shutting down, I have no way to run any of the scans stated in the preparation guide. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or at least run the scans to give you a better idea? Thanks

Hi

I posted yesterday about what appears to be an infection by a piece of malware called PC Optimizer Pro. It appeared out of nowhere in the form of a ?pop up? in the bottom right of my screen. It stated that there were 3,000 or so factors slowing down my machine, but as it was an unsolicited pop-up I wondered whether it was malware, which one of your members, Amateur, confirmed. It has even installed a desktop logo, which needless to say I have not clicked!

Amateur suggested I undertook the ?Pre-Posting? process,. Although I am not hugely computer-literate, I think I have managed to complete this ? with one proviso; BitDefender. I was unable to disable this because the process said to ?On the left panel click >> Virus Shield?, but there is no such option so I can only hope this hasn't been a problem when I went on to do the scan. I had SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes, which I have now disabled, and u-torrent whioch I uninstalled from the Control Panel.

I should also point out (I don't know whether it's related) but I have had intermittent interruptions to my broadband connection, and whenever I scan with one of the above utilities, scores of ?tracking? malware, which the software assures me are not serious, are always detected.

As requested, I have pasted the text of DDS.txt below and attached the other two logs. The checklist asks whether I have access to a Windows Install disk or Boot CD - the answer, I'm afraid, is "No".

Hello peter.ward,

Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you don't know how, please look in here:

How to disable your security applications
To disable Bitdefender real-time antivirus protection:Open the Bitdefender window.
Click the Settings button in the upper toolbar.
Click Antivirus on the left-side menu and then the Shield tab.
Click the switch to turn off on-access scanning.

Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Hey folks

My comptuter has had a mind of its own for the last two weeks.... it lets me onto google, shows you the first few lines of websites and will load up a couple of sites (like its letting me on here now) but wont let me on my webmail/socail sites... my skype works sometimes. I thought it was the DNS thing but having looked into it a bit more reckon its the OPTIMISER PRO thing that keeps popping up and tells me I have 1001 errors.

I wasn't sure at first how to uninstall it so I deleted it and it said that went into my recycle bin, but I dont know where that is... following this I then went into the control panal and uninstalled it. I've run the revo link someone said to do from this website but dont know what to do after I've done that... after restarting (is that the same as rebooting?)I'm still having the same problems could it be something else?

I'm running on windows 7.

Please help...

Cheers! p.s I'm really not very technical with computers so please simplify response and help

Hi! My name is Julia. Recently I've been having some major issues with the virus Optimizer pro on my Windows 7 computer. It does things such as saying there's a virus on a file that I've downloaded, or try to (such as adobe and steam updates), and makes my computer blue screen when I try to run my anti-virus software (AVG) it also makes my computer glitch and say things like, Internet Explorer (Not Working) and with other things too like Microsoft word and Paint. My new school year is coming up and I need my computer functioning so I can work on homework and essays without possibly transferring the virus to my schools computer. Please, I really need help!

Hello everyone. I am in desperate need of help. I downloaded spybot search and destroy from cnet.com and apparently PC Optimizer Pro was downloaded along with it. This is not my question, but would love to know the safest place to download from without these issues. Anyway, I have use Malwarebytes, deleted PC Optimizer Pro files in the registry and then they keep cropping up. Also, today when I went to manually edit the registry I was not allowed to delete all the registry entries for PC Optimizer Pro. Thank you for any help you can provide!

Hello - Has anyone had any experience with Optimizer Pro?  I did a general search on this site and found no topics,so I'm posting this as a new topic.  I foolishly downloaded a codec and was not careful with the download process and ended up having this "utility" installed, which behaves very much like ransomware.  I cannot directly uninstall it from control panel - I click on it, select Uninstall and nothing happens.  Anyone have any experience with this malware?  Thanks!  Steve

A:Optimizer Pro

Update - nothing seems to remove this ... I tried Fixit from microsoft.com, but this utility did not even find Optimizer Pro.  So, I created a backup of my registry file, did a search for OptPro and deleted any reference this annoying piece of s**(oftware).  Fingers crossed, I rebooted my system (Windows 7) and it appears to have worked.  I manually deleted the folder under c:\program files (x86).  There is still residual reference to it under All Programs, but seems to be off my system.  Hope I didn't mess anything else up, but so far so good (knocking on wood) ... if anyone has any other info or caveats, I'd appreciate it.

Any one know of a good vista ram optimizer to free up some ram in vista.I just installed it on my laptop and it is using about %40-%50 of my 2gb of installed ram.

A:Ram Optimizer

Hi, Vista is actually using your available memory very well. Why have 2gb of memory if Vista will not use it. My system users around 45-50% of the available Ram, as the system will access physical memory faster, using your Ram is good. Most of the programs that offer to improve performance are really only going to relieve you of money and do nothing for your system. Vista has built in defrag Chkdsk and disk cleanup also many run a free program called CCleaner to remove unwanted files(there are others). Registry cleaners are often included in these "optimization" programs they offer to make your computer run better and improve performance. I have been in this industry for 30+ years and believe me if I thought they worked I would be using them and recommending you did also, sadly this is not the case.

I attempted to remove Optimizer Pro by using the uninstall facility.  This seemed to help but when I next tried to turn on the computer it would not start up - after the blue screen with various instructions on it just went black and wouldn't boot up any further.  I eventually managed to restore it to a previous point.

I then found this site on the internet and was advised to run the DDS and send in a new post.

I just attempted to download a software "converter" from a site that was supposed to be trusted. In the process I also downloaded a program called PC Optimizer Pro which began immediately to "analyze" my PC and found 1600 serious problems. I'm sure none or almost none exist, given the care I take with my PC these days. So, I'm highly suspect of this app.

Anyway, I want this software removed. To that end, I have uninstalled it from the Control Panel. I also went into the registry to remove several lines but was not able to find the first one listed. So, I thought I'd ask you, the pros, what I can do now. I have not rebooted so I don't know if it is actually still on my PC anymore or not. It looks so much like malware that from experience I suspect it is and expect the worst.

Help? Thank you.

William

We have a problem on a Win 7 machine. PC Optimizer Pro was opened and now everytime we try to uninstall it, it keeps coming back up on reboot. We got it from downloading some kind of foreign language viewer. It also installed the weatherbug and a handful of other programs. I think we uninstalled the rest of the toolbars and weatherbug, but we can't seem to get rid of the PC Optimizer Pro. Malwarebytes seems to be of no use as it has not detected any problems. I'm afraid my french is very poor so i hope this english instruction is OK

HIJACK THIS:
Try not to reboot
Currently the Spyware identified by the security experts and especially the morphing and breeding .exe`s in the new variants of CWS, after every re-boot required by Ad-Aware and Spybot etc, just spawns more and more files for the poster to find and delete. This is making the advice the security experts give just too hard to follow.
One of the security experts recently had one log with over a hundred files, they guy had to format c: drive.

Download and copy hijackthis to its own folder , it makes backups so keeping them separate and available can be useful.

Note the Spyware tools websites are very often under attack and so I have provided more than 1 location to download from:

http://209.133.47.200/~merijn/downloads.html
http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/

Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”.
Click on “Save Log” and then save it to NotePad.
Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.

MODS please move..

Hi and Welcome to TSF

Please update your version of hijackthis before doing the fix!!

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run ad-aware SE with VX2 addon cleaner, Spybot Search & Destroy (with updated database) and CWShredder as these programs will clean a lot of the crap out first. All links to programs are in my signature. Ok..on to the log?..

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Check and fix the following in HijackThis if they still exist (make sure you do not miss an entry)

it didn't destroy anything, it slow down the pc, it open a pop-up window at start and after some time telling me that there are 3900 useless things on my pc to delete for improving
files that are instead probably safe and asking me to buy license for deleting them, i started to think that was a virus because i tried to uninstall it normally since i just have ccleaner for that but it doesn't show up in panel control program list so i google it and found was a malware, tried to scan with my antivirus that is avg 2013 free version, hasn't found it, runned malwarebyte's, hasn't found it, tried a 6 step guide of manually removal with regedit found on a forum and pc optimizer pro files weren't where guide said that they were, i don't know where they are hiding, i don't know which tipe of vista i have but i have an aspireM3630 with all original components except for the video board, i can do any action it doesn't block me anywhere, it just slow me down

I have this "internet optimizer" on my computer and do not know if it's a good or bad thing. Inside the optimizer there is "active alert" and "security update".
Should this be removed or left alone?

I have two questions...

Which is a better operating system in your opinion? Windows 7 or Windows Vista? Currently I'm running Windows Vista and I don't like it too much because of it's unnecessary features and how much memory it uses and the likes.

The other question, is what is a good optimizer/cleaner/registry fixer/etc. for Vista 64bit? I saw Advanced Vista Optimizer, but is that really any good?

Thank you.

A:Vista Optimizer/W7

optimisers and registry fixers and such are not a good idea to use, try ccleaner for cleaning your temp files. windows 7 is a better os than vista in my opinion, its easier on resources and boots faster,
