Yoga 730-13IKB - Thunderbolt 3 / USB to HDMI - not working - stopped working.

Q: Yoga 730-13IKB - Thunderbolt 3 / USB to HDMI - not working - stopped working.

Hi again, another issue. I have a UNI multi dock - it was working fine - HDMI, SD card readers, USB. Suddenly one day it stopped. Display does not recognize signal, cannot change display mode with win+P - I can switch but cannot apply changes..Intel software, windows settings - nowhere to see it. I bought Microsoft USB-C to HDMI hoping the dock broke or something, but still the same. Installed all possible drivers again from lenovo, did windows update - still nothing. What else can I do?

Hello to everyone, maybe someone can help me with my problem or has some advice: I bought a new Lenovo Yoga S740-14IIL and wanted to use an external display via the USB Typ C Thunderbolt port, which should be capable off it and is marked by a little Thunderbolt-logo.But nothing is working: There is no signal and it just shows "Billboard USB Device" in the Hardware manager of Windows 10. I used a "Hommie USB C to HDMI Adapter ([email protected])" device to connect. I tried different things:- Using different monitors- Using another OS (Ubuntu) for testing- Installing the automatical Lenovo Updater on WIndows but it hadnt found new Updates Ive read in the forum that other Notebooks have similiar problems with HDMI output via Thunderbolt, but nothing about the Lenovo Yoga S740-14IIL yet. Best regards and thanks for your adviceMSPD

A:Lenovo Yoga S740-14IIL Thunderbolt HDMI isnt working

Go to start, type in "Display", and go to the display settings. How many monitors does it show? Try the "detect" button - does it see it then? Is the adapter and wire functional?Press the Windows Button and 'P', and choose duplicate. Does it do anything?Let me know.

Hi all, In the past few days my laptop slowly degraded, starting with docking station connectivity not working (but does work with other laptops), then HDMI port not working (HDMI screen and cable works with other laptops), and now system no longer charges. Current status is that all USB-C ports (including charge) and HDMI port and not functioning. Computer doesn't charge when it is off, too.  I've looked at multiple solutions and threads on this website without any real solution. I've already tried - - run Lenovo Vantage a few times to check updates. Did the same on the Lenovo product website (using auto-discovery of serial #), everything is fully updated- Turned on/off Thunderbolt Service (on the Windows 10 control panel) - I turned it on and automatic but it always returns to Manual- Searched in the Device Manager for Thunderbolt (anything) - it's not there- Uninstalled and re-installed Thunderbolt software from the Lenovo website (both controller driver and FW, file names n1nta05w.exe and n1nth08w.exe)- Went to the BIOS/Configuration - enabled and disabled again all Thunderbolt related options - Used Paperclip to do hard reset using the emergency reset button Any ideas what left to be done?  Thanks!

Does it mean I need to send my computer back for a repair? Thanks.

I already typed something here, since I thought it is related:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-6th-gen-BIOS-update-broke-external-... Pulling Thunderbolt cables was fine. After a while:Pulling Thunderbolt cables gave me 1 in 3 cases a bluescreen (internal power error). I did a BIOS / Thunderbolt / Driver update on 21th of May 2019. Everything was fine, restart worked. Went to work, this time, turned into standbye before pulling the cable. Everything was fine. At home, I opened the Screen after getting out of Sleep (old Linux Standby), saw the welcome for a short moment, and than bluescreen again.  Reboot, ... freezes in BIOS. Directly at the "Lenovo" Splash screen, before having the chance to put on the finger on the fingerprint reader.Super laggy. Tried EVERYTHING mentioned in this forum, enabled/disabled all settings in BIOS, had to reset with the button in the bottom with a paper clip, tried to deactivate internal battery. By a chance of 1 in 4 I could get into the BIOS or select a boot media.  Lenovo hardware test says, that everything is fine. Have been many times, close to a brick, since it hangs directly after pressing the power button. By chance could boot, made a backup. HDMI is also not working. For me it sounds like the Thunderbolt Chip or Firmware is broken. Similar to the more popular bricking of Yogas, P51, before. I maybe could flash it manually like discribed here, but I guess, this is against warranty regulations: https://posts.nadim.computer/2018/10/26/repairing-a-thinkpad.html

Hello, I have a pretty new Yoga 920-13IKB.  The USB Type A port just stopped working out of the blue yesterday.  I tried the normal stuff like deleting the usb entries in device manager, disabling fastboot and trying different devices, but nothing is recognized.  I have a USB C to USB A adapter and when I plug a USB A device into the laptop via the USB C port/adapter, that does work fine.  The USB A port does charge my phone though, so it's not totally dead. Anything else I can check on the software side?  It certainly seems like a hardware issue to me. As far as warranty support, I do have Microcenter nearby.  How does support with them work?  It looks like the USB A assembly is a separate board and is not part of the motherboard, so that should be easily replaceable.  Does Microcenter carry parts like that or do they still send it out for that? Thanks!

I'm trying to use the Dell XPS 15 9550 with Windows 10, and I connected two external monitors, one to HDMI, one to Thunderbolt.
Only the one connected to Thunderbolt works, the other doesn't, it simply says no signal.
The cables and the port itself definitely work, if I switch to Ubuntu, both screens work.
On Windows, only the Thunderbolt works, even if I connect only one screen, the HDMI output doesn't work. I tried all combination of screens and cables, and in all combinations it is always the Thunderbolt output that works.
I'm on the latest updates with Windows 10. Latest NVidia drivers. Tried the latest Intel graphics drivers from the Dell site, also the latest ones from the Intel site.
One extra information: some forums suggested checking the NVidia Control Panel, but there I only have the "3D Settings" node in the tree, nothing else.
(I've googled a lot and read all the forum threads I could find, but nothing worked.)

Hi everybody,I'm facing an issue with thunderbolt. It started recently, after one of Vantage update runs. I've read through the forum and tried almost everything, but still no luck. Current state:1. Thunderbolt controller is not in the list in Device Manager. (0x20B SDK_NO_CONTROLLERS)2. USB-C devices (flash, camera) do not work3. Charger only charges when laptop is powered down (when on, it barely maintains the battery level)4. HDMI doesn't work either What I've tried (several times now):1. Running Vantage and installing all updates.2. Flashing newest BIOS (1.44)3. Installing the "critical thunderbolt update".  - Software update went through.  - Firmware update didn't happen cause controller is missing4. Clean re-install of the Thunderbolt drivers, including  - 'sc delete nhi'  - deleting tbt* driver files under system32/driverstore/5. Battery reset (pin at the bottom)6. Toggling 'Thunderbolt assist mode' in BIOS. Current system status:1. BIOS version 1.442. OS version Win 10 Pro 17763 (1809)3. Thunderbolt Software version 17.4.80.550 Nothing worked for me so far. Any ideas as to what I can try next?

I have a P50 with the Intel 530 video and the HDMI and Thunderbolt ports have stopped working.  Lenovo has replaced the motherboard and they work on the tech's flash Ubuntu OS so it's not the hardware. On 10/24, during the Lenovo or Windows scheduled updates, I see some changes to the video driver.  That's when they stopped working.  I tried roll back but it doesn't work.  I have read previous posts on P50 HDMI issues and have updated the BIOS, Firmware and Thunderbolt software.  I've run all Windows and Lenovo updates.  Of particular importance, Lenvovo keeps trying to push a large "Thinkpad Video Features" update on me but it won't install.  It says it is for Nvidia N16S and Quadro 16P so that makes sense to me, I just don't know why it keeps trying to push it down to me. Anyone experience this issue?  The screen shots show the Lenovo update they are trying to push on me and the updates to the display adapter driver that occurred on 10/24.  Since then it just hasn't worked.

I purchased the Thunderbolt 3 Dock with my Yoga 920 as it was listed as an accessory during my Yoga 920 purchase back in November.  I finally got around to setting it up and I can't seem to get the power button the dock to turn on my laptop.  The button glows white when my laptop is plugged in but the button will not turn the laptop on.  I have my power button option in Windows set to "when i press power button while plugged in, the laptop will go to sleep."  So even while the laptop is connected to the dock via USB-C/thunderbolt and the laptop is on, when I push the power button the dock, it doesn't put the laptop to sleep either--it does nothing. Googling around, I see there is a newer dock called USB-C dock and it's listed as compatible with the 920 whereas as the Thunderbolt 3 Dock is not listed as compatible.  Could this be the issue?   I also have thunderbolt software installed and it detects the dock in the software. I need some help please!

You could do a restore to before the update. This ill remove the updates and you can find out if its due to that.

I'd try a second hdmi cable to eliminate the cable. Being that long it may have been damaged.

3rd, update your video drivers.

Hope something easy fixes it.

Thinking it was software and/or driver related I've tried everything from rolling back windows 10 to updating GPU drivers, even the chipset got an update. Can a HDMI port just randomly stop working like that? VGA out is fine, just not the HDMI. If anyone has any ideas I might be able to try.... Thanks all.

A:HDMI has stopped working

Clive235 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!Anytime someone comes here running Win10 and complains about something suddenly not working, I immediately suspect Windows Driver updates.Unfortunately, Win10 automatically forces driver updates on all of us, without our knowledge, and without our permission -- and when this happens, a working PC is suddenly "broken".  This might have happened to you.You need to go into Settings, Update & Security --> Windows Update. Then, choose Advanced Options --> History to see when updates were last applied.  If you see any that include device drivers, those could be the problem. So, if you can, you should see if you can rollback the drivers that are causing the problem.  You do this by going into Device Manager, seeing if the appropriate device is still listed, and if so, trying to rollback the last driver update. And if that fixes the problem, then consider disabling future driver updates using the information in the link:  http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/48277-driver-updates-windows-update-enable-disable-windows-10-a.h...Good Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on my post to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================... I've been running my xbox through this PC for months now and I havent had any problems, although I do need to bring up HP My Display in order for the hdmi to work correctly. I tried to connect my xbox one to the computer as usual last night but this time it said 'no signal'. I have checked to see if other hdmi cables would work (they do not) and I have tried the hdmi cable usually used for the PC on the TV and my xbox connects fine. I don't know of any recent update that may have caused something to go wrong, I can't get it to work.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6898 laptop with Windows Vista (64 bit). For two years, I have watched movies on my TV via the HDMI connection. Recently, this stopped working (I had not installed anything new or updated the computer). The HDMI cable is definitely still good. My laptop could not connect with the external display. I tried everything I could think of including making sure the drivers were up to date (they were) and the handy reboot method. Nothing worked until I went into the device manager, right clicked on the graphics card and uninstalled and reinstalled it. Using this method, I got it to connect again for a couple of days, though I had to uninstall and reinstall every time to make it work. This has stopped working now too though. I am at a loss. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

I searched many threads with similar titles but could not find a usable answer. I hope this post will have better luck.
My PC is connected from the graphics card to a Full HD TV via HDMI. This worked beautifully for 7 months with great video and audio via HDMI. Unfortunately it stopped working. The TV's HDMI ports and the cables work fine with other devices. On the PC I installed a new motherboard and reinstalled Windows. This is all working fine on a friend's display, including the DP connection from the graphics card. Sadly, however, the PC graphics card to TV HDMI connection is still not producing any picture or sound; not even the BIOS screen. The TV recognizes when the cable is attached (no cable vs. no signal messages) but no picture or sound results.

Some specs:
TV: Samsung UE32EH6030W
PC's OS Windows7 Pro - 74bit
Graphics card 1GB MSI Radeon HD 7770
Motherboard Asus H61MC
Processor Intel Pentium G850, Socket 1155, Dual Core, 2.90GHz

I'm confused, did you replace the motherboard or the graphics card? If you are using a dedicated graphics card the motherboard would have little to nothing to do with outputting HDMI when a dedicated graphics card is installed. Does the second monitor show up in the AMD Catalyst Software? And even though the HDMI cable appears to work with another device, have you tried another HDMI cable?
