Q: is System Requirement Lab accurate in GHz?

Hello, all! I was checking some games out on System Requirements Lab website(canyourunit.com) and I checked SWAT 4. So it ran through the test and said I can play the perfectly, because I passed both tests. But then when I checked what would be the required GHz to play this game it says 2.2GHz. I was like "WHAT?", that's because I only have 1.8 GHZ, but I still passed it! System Requirements Lab says this "You Have: 1.80 GHz Performance Rated at 3.10 GHz". Now I am a bit confused. What is my real GHz? And what does it mean by Performance Rated at 3.10 GHZ???
Help please!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello...our laptop seems to have decided that its 2011 not 2010. I have no idea how to fix this although i'm sure it's relatively easy but I'm tech challenged. I am using an HP Compaq Presario with Vista. Updates are fairly current although I am having update errors since the year issue showed up. This also is true for my antivirus software with also does not like that the date shows 2011.

Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks so much in advance!

Hi all,

Okay so I want to run the Sims 3 on my HP Pavilion dm3-1021tx Entertainment Notebook PC and I'm not sure if my comp can handle it. I tried the 'can you run it' website and it narrowly misses the minimum requirements based on CPU.

Here are my laptops specifications: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/nz/en/ho/WF06b/321957-321957-3329744-64354-64354-4011360-4044755.html

And these are the Sims 3 requirements:
http://www.thesims3.com/game/systemreq

Now the reason I don't fully trust the can you run it website is because my laptop has a dual processor and I heard that means the 1.3GHz actually doubles or something? I don't know, that could be really wrong..

So will the Sims 3 will be basically unplayable on my system or should it be fine?

Also if there is no point me getting the game for my current system, how can i upgrade the CPU?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.... dont know much about this kind of stuff!

Hi,
I've been using Google Talk to make phone calls since 2010, although the quality of the calls were usually so-so at best (Static, gaps in conversation, etc). Most people I know who use it are happy with theirs. Upgrading the connection speed didn't help, either. Since it's time to buy a new PC, could anyone tell me what system requirement options i should choose in order to optimize the call quality?
Thank you!

Dear all,

I would like someone to advise me if I can used a 17" LCD Monitor on my very old system bought in 1999 HP Pavilion 6619 Celeron 600Mhz.
Will the LCD monitor work with the system or do I need a better spec.system.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

A:LCD Monitor minimum system requirement

It will almost certainly work, there's almost no requirements for monitors. The connections need to match, and I'm sure both have the same DB-15 VGA connector, and then ideally you want the video card to support the native resolution that the monitor is designed to run at. That resolution will be marked on the box and you will want to match that in Display Properties. The monitor will work at lower resolutions but the quality will be poor. For a 17" LCD the native resolution will be either 1024x768 or 1280x1024.

I am a HUGE Elder Scrolls fan. I'm going to get Oblivion in Stepember for my birthday (the collector's edition, in fact).

I've got a FX 5200, which is pretty weak. The system requirments say that Oblivion will run on the FX Series, but I'm not naive, I'm assuming its made to run on a FX 5600 or FX 5900, but I was happy that it would at least chug along and run.

Then, I went to the System Requirement Lab and ran Oblivion and it said that my PC won't run Oblivion, saying that Oblivion requires a FX 5700 or something. I was heartbroken and almost on the verge of depression (no joke) that I wouldn't get to play Oblivion, since it was hyped up.

Then I heard about this mod Oldblivion that can run Oblivion on cards has late has GeForce 3 series.

My question is, will Oldblivion help me?

A few days ago an on screen message said words to the effect that Windows had encountered a problem and needed to close. The system cycled through a diagnostic sequence - an attempt at repair - eventually closed down. When rebooted followed much the same sequence.

I tried using a Windows Repair Disc, which opened up several repar options, but all eventually led back to the on-screen message - Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close down.

The system was restored using an external hard drive with a copy of system image. However, when the system is booted - within seconds a box appears on screen asking for a password to be entered. When the password is entered the boot continues without a hitch and Windows 10 works as normal.

The introduction of a password could well be something that I stumbled into whilst trying to solve the initial problem - I cannot honestly recall - but I would appreciate guidance as to how to eliminate this step from the boot process.

A:How accurate is driver max?

This is going to be a FWIW type answer. Driver Max has a pretty extensive data base and I use them just to see what they suggest the newest drivers are for my computer. But I always use the manufacturer's driver download site if I ever decide to update a driver. (For example, the manufacturer might put out a new driver but people report problems. They pull the driver while they work on a fix but a 3rd party website like Driver Max might keep the driver in their data base.)

Gateway Support - Drivers & Downloads

My general rule of thumb is if it ain't broken don't fix it. You say your computer sometimes hangs on logoff/shutdown. Before messing with the drivers I'd try troubleshooting by doing a Clean Boot. That might narrow down the issue and give you a specific problem area that's causing the hang at shutdown.

So i think this is related to my upload. There are several "bits and bytes" that were not correctly uploaded.

How can i be sure when uploading a big file, that the 10000% exact copy is on my ftp? Is there a ftp programm which has a error - analysis in it?

Please give me some tips. (And if it is possible, OSX please)

i normally mrun seatools if a drive i have just reinstalled on has crashed.

It depends what the errors are.
If it is just bad sectors, the sectors can be marked as bad
and windows won't use them.

My keyboard works fine when typing and things like that. However, for other things where pressing keys is necessary (i.e games) the keys don't work. They all seem to do something another key is supposed to do and usually they all do the same thing.

Look up the keyboard manufacturer and download the specific driver for your specific keyboard. Then go into the driver's settings for the keyboard and change the keys to do whatever you want the keys to do. Then go into the games' options or settings and chnge the key mapping/input/control (whatever it says) and change all the keys to do whatever you want them to do. With different software, it seems that there sometimes is a difference in reported temps. I normally have Core Temp set to run as soon as I start up, but I noticed that today while running task had the cpu at around 60-75% for hours, the cpu temp reported in Core Temp hasn't changed at all. So I ran CPUID hardware monitor and noticed two locations for CPU temps, one matching the 20deg reading as in Core Temp and readings of 81deg C and 59 deg C under the motherboard section for CPU temps. Screen shot attached. What do you guys use for accurate readings and is what is shown here something to be concerned about for high temps? Thanks.

A:Accurate CPU temps

Hi,

According to the specs of your processor: Intel? Pentium? Processor T3400 (1M Cache, 2.16 GHz, 667 MHz FSB) Socket P with SPEC Code(s) SLB3P it can handle those temps, but if correct they are on the high side.
Processors on laptops usually get hotter though.

About the 20c reading, you could check the bios and see what it reads, it could be that the temperature sensors on the CPU are stuck but i'm not sure.

I always use Realtemp to monitor my CPU: Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring you could give it a try and see what it reads.

If you want to try to lower the temps you could clean the airduct with some compressed air and you could raise the back of the laptop with some raisers to ensure enough air flow.

Is there a different setting I can use to keep the time accurate?

A:Windows Time not accurate

You can choose a different server certainly, but they are all precise, assuming they update correctly.

Right click on the clock in the notification tray lower right> Adjust date/time> Internet time tab> Change settings> Make sure Synchronize with an Internet time server is checked> Pick a server from the drop down and click Update now

But I'd be looking to confirm your CMOS batter is not low on voltage. The CMOS battery keeps the settings for BIOS when the PC is not powered on. Slow time, or wrong date/time are often signs of a failing CMOS battery. If another time server also results in losing time, that will be your next step.

You can also change the intreval that the time updates as a stop gap, but if the battery is failing, you will have to change it eventually or other problems will occur.

I hope you'll forgive a question from a non techie, but I wonder if anyone can tell me if I'm being misled by my IT Manager.

He has stated that we must stop using Mikogo, as these kinds of desktop sharing programmes make it 'easy, for someone with the right tools' to access any files on our entire, company wide network' - even if the user themselves does not have this access.

He goes on to say that even if his event's log shows a connection with Mikogo for, say, 15 minutes, the external person could still have access and be surfing the network without this showing up on the IT Manager's activity logs (or anywhere else for that matter), so we could never know what was accessed and when, once a person is 'in the system' via a desktop sharing facility.

This seems odd when so many companies use Mikogo - or similar - and it would cause us many problems if we had to stop using it; but before I make any decisions I just want to check the information I've been given is accurate.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Mel

A:Am I being given accurate info by our head of IT?

If your head of IT has told you not to use something, citing security risks for the network he/she is responsible for safeguarding then I'd generally accept you're not going to win this debate.

I do not know the full extent of the answer in regards to your query, but I consider it doubtful that you're being misled. The nature of the software certainly has a capacity to reveal (literally) possibly sensitive information in normal usage. From your details it sounds like the guy is concerned about that, as well as the open nature of the connection between the computers -- it could be exploited, giving total access to your network files to an intruder.

The responsibility of a corporate IT network is a huge responsibility, and is only ever as strong as its weakest link. Past history shows that most attacks occur because hackers/criminals take advantage of those ill-informed or totally unaware of the consequences of their actions on a grander scale. In reality the risk might be minimal, but it is "another" means by which the network "could" be compromised, and ideally you want it exposed to as little risk as possible. I'd imagine the person is playing safe.

I'd just comply if it was me, I'd rather the head of IT was my friend than someone I clashed with.

Right, after the new PC building problems that occured, I'm stuck at the stage of not being able to boot windows, and have discovered that I need to repair.

Sticking in my Windows disc, I get the options to set up windows XP, repair using the recovery console or leave.

The first option is what I would want, as I should be able to select my current installation and repair it. But my current installation isn't there.

The second option basically gives me command prompt. Typing bootcfg (which according to one guide, should make the repair thing able to see it) just brings a menu of bootcfg commands. Using the boot /repair command, I am asked if I want to add the installation to the boot list, which I want to, but each time I try, I get told Error: Failed to add to list etc.

So I can't repair windows, as far as I can tell, and I can't afford to lose the programs on my current installation.

Help.

Through a combination of luck and being careful, I have managed to get very little spam for the last three years; however, it seems every time I register a domain at Dotster, I get a lot pf spam for a while. I am satisfied Dotster is the weak link in my chain.

Anyway, I've been diligently reporting spam by using SpamCop to identify the source and then suggesting to whom I report.

This triggers the thought: With the extremes which spammers go to hide the source, can SpamCop really be counted on to identify the source accurately?

A:Just how accurate can SpamCop be about the real source?

I think SpamCop is extremely accurate. Unfortunately, I also feel reporting the spammers that send spam from outside the US/UK is just a waste of your time. Doing so doesn't seem to help, but that's just imho.

That's a very good question! I've used several programs, Adobe photoshop, MS-photodraw, Photosuite 4, and Photosuite 4 Platinum, all give mixed results. Out of all Photosuite 4 is the easiest to work with and gives me the closest cut.
As you know the higher the resolution of object the cleaner the cut. I Usually do a rough cut of an object, save that object and work that object separately. After rough cut use your magnifier and freehand cut edges, cutting to transparent. After cut is complete around object use your transparency tool and lightly touch the edge around the object. This process does a great job of smoothing all the cut edges. I've used this process many times and it produced great cuts for composites.
hope that helps Dave

I was going to post this in a prior new post but it disappeared so no sure if that is because I'm new or if there was some complication with it since it was there and now not...  Anyway, I was given some direct information from Support and then in turn from an "Expert" that when the PSREF says that a particular Y700 laptop runs a SATA 3 SSD then that machine can only be upgraded with that bus design.  Not saying that it may not act like AHCI so it can handle an NVMe but as in high end performance SATA mode (correct me if that is accurate). But anyway SATA 3 drive units should be expected to perform as such.  If you have an 15ISK machine that comes with a PCIe NVMe drive then you are good to go on upgrades in that format.  Someone not in Support noted that the M2 only designation machines can run NVMe but that is not certain.  Also from non- Support feedback, there was a mention that the issue with the DMI "capped" issue was more of a motherboard limitation so that was the reason for the limited top end performance for the NVMe drive units. This is not confirmable either but just putting it out there as something that was stated. Just a footnote that maybe all this information is just conjecture although direct info from Lenovo. Just saying this is what I was told today when I pressed for answers to the question(s).

The digitzer on my son's Envy 15t cracked when dropped at school. I successfully replaced it and it functions. However, when I calibrate the digitizer, the location touched on the digitizer does not line up with the expected loacation on the LCD.The alignment is correct in the upper left hand corner and along the top. But, as I progress to the right and down touching the digitizer, the two components no longer line up. The farther right and down I go, the greater the shift. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HID in Devise Manager, updated the drivers, disabled and re-enabled the HID, preformed the hard reset, reset and recalibrated multiple times, installed Windows updates, and preformed the HP diagnostic UEFI test. The UEFI test was a little odd. When clearing the squares, the screen appeared to be inversed. Meaning that when I touched the top of the screen, the squares on the bottom would be removed, and vice versa. The test to mover the boxes around had the same type of issue. To move a box up, I had to drag it downward. Weird. Updating the BIOS and chipset drivers is my next task. Has anyone else had such an experience or advice? Yes, I ordered the correct part but that does not mean I received the proper part number. Thank you.

A:HP Envy 15t : Replaced digitizer does not calibrate accurate...

I'm going through a very similar thing with a 15-u. I replaced the digitizer, and the touch is all out of whack, barely responsive, unusable. I have to ask, when the screen was cracked, did you notice if the touch still worked or was it already out of whack at that point.  On the 15-u, it was out of whack with the cracked screen, and basically the same with a brand new digitizer. I even replaced the control board next to the screen with no change. Please reply to let us know if the bios updates helped, I would love to try that but the dang customer didn't give the power adapter.

I installed Windows 8 with UEFI enabled in BIOS on a GPT SSD disk and was curious about the partitions the installation created. The disk was clean with no partitions before installing. (Note: I split the main partition afterwards so ignore the last partition in these screen shots).

Windows 8 disk management shows the disk (disk 2), as four partitions, the first two reported incorrectly as 100% free and unused.

Then looking at the same disk (disk 3 here because it starts counting at '1' and not '0' like the previous window), with MiniTool Partition Wizard you see the the five partitions accurately displayed and the usage correctly shown.

Does anyone else looking at their GPT disks and EFI partitions with Windows disk management notice the same, or have an explanation?

Also has anyone had W8 install the 300MB recovery partition? Is this normal for UEFI installations?

A:Windows disk management, not accurate for GPT and EFI partitions?

That is normal.

Windows won't show you the msr - and the others are shown in disk mgmt as an unrecognized filesystem.

Probably to stop you, or programs from messing with them .

3rd party partitioners will let you see them.

PSC12C-03100S - Satellite C650 - 031

I have this Toshiba Laptop below-

Laptop PSC12C-03100S

Serial 2A3304580

I have Windows 7 on Premium OS.

I just bought this Laptop about 2 weeks ago.

I set the correct date and time for the computer clock.
I find that the computer clock after left over night is different.

Is this due to cmos battery being low power ?

I try to set to time server on Windows 7 to make it automatically make it accurate, but I don't know how to go about doing this on Windows 7 computer. Seems the NTP settings is different from Windows XP ?
Usually it is set to time.windows.com option is set by default , but I can't see this on Windows 7 ? I usually set it on C.S.T..

How is it done ?

Thanks

A:Laptop PSC12C-03100S clock not accurate

Check the BIOS and make sure that the time is set correctly in that.

Otherwise, your CMOS battery has died.

I downloaded AODR and installed it on my laptop (Windows 7; Office 2010). It worked like a charm. I got rid of a huge amount of duplicate emails, reminders, etc.I then installed it on my desktop and it does not want to work. Also Windows 7; Office 2010. It seems as if it might be a Net framework issue. That PC has Microsoft Net framework 4 Client profile and also Extended installed. Both have Microsoft Sync Profile 2 installed.I attach a few screenshots. I really hope you can advise.

I have a question about download speeds.

There is a customer in my local area that has service with Charter communications. They are paying for 60mb down and 5mb up. They are not getting the speed they are paying for at all. A couple of techs have been out to their home to resolve this an stated this was a line problem. So that is still waiting to resolved. Here is the odd question. When trying to measure the speed I am getting different results.

Here are all the average test results:

These tests were all done with direct connections to a ubee modem.

Speakeasy Speed Test
Speakeasy Speed Test
20mb down 5mb up

Speedtest.net
Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
15mb down and 5mb up

Testmy.net
Download Speed Test
11.5 down and 5mb up

Toast.net
Internet Performance and Speed Test
4mb! down and 5mb up

Charter communications (charters own speed test)
Charter Communications : Digital Cable, High Speed Internet and Telephone [olvemo]
33.5 down and 5up
So every test got the upload speed right but every speed test was different. Now all of the closest servers were selected but still this odd result. Now I know you should use your ISP's speed test but this can be misleading to the average consumer.

So I'm looking for some opinions on the best most accurate way to test a customers download speed. Also is it possible for a routers firewall to choke and hurt the speed coming into a customers home?

Any other idea's?

So I've got some money now to finally upgrade my PC. I have a GTX470 GPU, but only a Duo Core CPU. So I plan to upgrade my CPU to something more reasonable (w/o completely breaking the bank).

I've been using Game-Debate as a reference to see what CPUs can play the games I want. 2 specific games have the i5-750 as the MINIMUM requirement to play. Some of the CPUs a couple friends have suggested don't match that MINIMUM requirement (unless overclocked) and Game-Debate reflects as such using a big red X to show it won't work.

But my friends say it should still work, even if i don't overclock. One says "if quad core is the min requirement, then you just need quad core. minimum specs aren't concrete, just what the game developer estimates", while another says "the site doesn't seem to use real life performance as consideration, just straight #'s"

(to be more specific, I was looking into the X4 760k, given the mobo I have. But now I may just decide to buy a new mobo, to allow me to get a "better" CPU)

so my question is...who is right? Game-Debate or my friends? Also, CAN PC games be played if a CPU doesn't meet the minimum requirements?

While this is aimed for ppl w/ experience using the Game-Debate website, anyone w/ the knowledge can feel free to answer!

Thanks for any and all input!

A:how accurate is Game-Debate website? gaming w/o min reqs?

First off what games are you considering here? I would say checking the games actual stats from say Steams, GoG, et cetera store page is a much better reflection of what is needed to play a game.

Why not update your system specs and/or post all your information here. Along with budget and games you are expecting to play. It would be easier to assist you with a build/upgrade if more information was present.

I can tell you that depending on the time of day and amount of traffic the results will vary. I bet if you checked at 3am your results might be closer to the advertised 60mb. Remember 60 is maximum, not optimal.

I wouldn't worry too much about a router's firewall choking the speed, but certainly the characteristics of the modem and router are important. For example, my Motorola cable modem would not be good for that service, as it maxes out at 30 Mbps.

Is there a battery inside the Stick 300 to keep the internal clock running on time when the unit is not getting external 5V power? If so, is this battery replaceable?  Rechargeable?  If it recharges during time the unit is powered up, how long will it keep time between applying power to the unit? If not replaceable, what do we do when the battery wears out / dies?

This is by far the most frustrating computer problem I have experienced in my life. My mouse cursor appears to move in zig zags, basically, it refuses to travel in a straight line and randomly jumps a little to left/right or up/down depending on which direction you're moving the mouse. I'm using a Razer Naga 2014 but I know it isn't a mouse issue because I've tried plugging in various Mice and have had the same problem with all of them. I really wish I could figure this out. I'm a PC gamer and this is incredibly frustrating due to the lack of accuracy it provides me. I've tried about every fix I can find on google and I'm just lost. This is the second Naga I've purchased because I thought the problem was with the actual mouse, but after having the same problem with a second one I decided to try out other mice and they've all done the same exact thing. I'm running Windows 7 os 64 bit, have a Quad Core processor and Asus motherboard.

The best way I know do describe the problem is this. Imagine drawing a straight line in paint, except every so far along the line your mouse jumps making it look like a curve line all across. It goes up and down up and down instead of straight.

I am glad to have finger print for Windows Hello. But the fringer print scanner on my T470P have 2 main cons: 1. Windows Hello complete only after I manually raised my fringer, rather than ASAP when detection is ended, like iPhone does. 2. Scanner accuracy is low, retry twice or more is very common. I am not sure whether it is normal for all Thinkpad laptops' finger print scanner or I got a bad one?

Hi,

Are there any apps that enable you to easily make an accurate 3D model of your head?
I need an app thats intuitive, easy, fast and free. Since I am not into 3D modeling and neither do I want to pay 2000+ dollars for a software I am going to use only once. I dont know anything about 3D designing, and so I need a simple and easy software.

My goal is to make an accurate model of the head for choosing hairstyles, insight into cosmetic procedures etc.

Btw I have a slow net connection so online apps will not work for me. I am on Windows 8.
