I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

gack. That ain't pretty. Need some more info, though: what function are you running? one you wrote? if so, does your code compile? under what circumstances are you running it? what's your db like?

We have a Microsoft Access (2000) built application installed on user's system (OS, WINDOWS 7)which, have coding done in VB and uses Access database (on a file server)  & has functionality to print data using report, which actually saves the file
in PDF format.
When we click on 'Print' option it shows "NOT RESPONDING". It takes around 15-20 minutes to save the report as a PDF file.
Earlier it used to happen in fraction of seconds.
Issue started all of a sudden whereas the user could do the activity on the same data few hours earlier.
We are not sure on the root cause.
We checked network connectivity and re-installation of the application but no luck. We suspect it might be because of some Microsoft patch. Although when we tried uninstalling, it worked until we restarted the user machine, and issue came up again.
Patch was KB3178690.
Can anyone please help us with this issue?

My computer is at least partially unprotected, as I am unable to run or update Microsoft Security Essentials (and also Windows Defender).

Also, I can't do anything but view the files in in the MSE directory. There are little locks next to each file icon, and I am logged in as administrator (at least I think so). When I attempt to open the MSE Client (or anything else in this folder), I get the following error: "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Client\msseces.exe The specified path does not exist. Check the path and then try again."

I have searched many of the posts here, and have attempted several fixes on my own (including running. I have tried unistalling MSE (Error: "You do not have sufficient access to uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials."), Running my normally-installed security software (Superantispyware, Malwarebytes), Installing & running new security software based on responses in this forum and others (msert, HitmanPro_x64, combofix [I know, I know], TDSSkiller, and adwcleaner).

I suspect that the cause of the problem was the "Update Flash" window that popped up. I'm usually very cautious about this, but on this evening I had a deadline to hit, and the window wouldn't let me continue without answering. I suspected a problem, but assumed I would deny installation permission when that window came up -- but it never did.

Hi Playaman,

Welcome tot the forum.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.
Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

You can try either uninstalling Microsoft Office, resetting your browser(s), and reinstalling Office, or you can try making changes to the registry. Note -- you should always back up the registry first before making any major changes to it. Just a wild guess, but do you have NAV set to check your Office files? You should turn off that option -- not needed and it does slow things down and occasionally interfere.

Hi, new to the forums here and I seem to be experiencing computer meltdown. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here's my situation:

A few weeks ago I started getting full page pop-ups any time I used Firefox or IE. Naturally I assumed I had a virus, so I installed and ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware software, and things seemed to clear up for a little while. Then today, the same problem started occurring again. So this time I installed the latest version of Ad-Aware and ran a scan - it caught a ton of junk, mostly trojans. I removed the files it had caught and restarted my computer, but when I did that I encountered this error message when the laptop booted up: "Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\wojigovu.dll. The specified module could not be found."

What's worse, I realized that now I can't seem to access any of my files. When I click to open "My Documents" I get this error message:

The instruction at "0x7b060fde" referenced memory at "0x7b060fde." The memory could not be "written."

Click OK to terminate the program
Click CANCEL to debug the program

I get similar messages whenever I try and run open just about anything else (My Photos, My Music, Internet Explorer, etc.) Firefox still manages to work, thankfully. I can't even open the Control Panel to check out Add/Remove programs.

I was able to reboot the computer in Safe Mode and that allowed me access to my files, and I was able to save a ... Read more

A:Help! Can't access files - explorer.exe Application Error

Crisis averted... temporarily. I conducted a System Restore to an earlier date and that seems to have fixed the problem - now I can access My Documents, Photos, IE, etc. I think what must have happened is that when I was clearing out affected files caught by Ad-Aware, I must have also cleared out something that had adversely affected the explorer.exe file. So I still have some sort of virus or trojan problem, but with a little more work I think I can weed those out, too.

Hello.I actually have several problems going on with my desktop computer (as noted in the subject).Firstly, Firefox loads up slower than usual. This seems to usually happen after I use IE7 and then switch over to Firefox though. For what it's worth, I had Messenger disabled several years ago.Lastly, with Firefox and sometimes even in IE, I can't get onto to certain Websites (such as BleepingComputer.com), I also can't run searches in Google or Yahoo. Have you tried going to Start> Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management. It sounds like there's a corrupted file or a service is denying you access. You are the Administrator of windows? After trying the first scenario go to Start>Run and type services.msc and when the services window opens make sure Event Log, Windows Management Instrumentation(WMI), and Remote Procedure Call (RPC) are started and not disabled. Hello,
I have a relatively new install of windows because I formatted a few weeks ago so I had a clean start with my new hardware. The only problem it seems is before I could get antivirus and things patched a virus or something caught me.

I dont think my computer is updating anymore and some applications have recently started to crash and my computer has sporadically turned off a few times this week and the temps were fine so i know it was not that.

I can not get to the microsoft update website, because when I try to go there firefox will open and direct me to the site.

I was getting an error on startup saying rundll32 could not find a file that AVG deleted and the files was called dll32 and sm. I will work on finding out what it used to be called.

I have an application called Prio installed which is a great extension to task manager that expands it abilities and it showed that I have unsigned versions of svchost, alg, and wimprvse running and some other unverified processes that are running under system.
The other suspicious proccess is unsecapp.exe

There are also quite a few open connections sitting on listen for my computer if needed I can put up a wireshark analysis.

Right now I have AVG, ad-aware, a-squared, and Secunia PSI installed.
A-squared pick up some files that AVG seemed to miss yesterday when I installed it so that got me concerned with AVG.

Thank you in advance.

Did you create the database? If not go to the database creater / administrator, otherwise cut out all the sensitive data, and attach a copy to this thread. It's probably something to do with the way the database is set-up.

Haven't come across this myself, may be a common known issue.

Since no one else answered this one yet I guess I'll take a shot.

I would suspect there is a field being mapped to a field/variable of the wrong type. Do you have an aggregate function on a non-numeric field that's mapping into a field of the same type as the original instead of a numeric field that would hold the result of the aggregate?

This was done for 3 of the branches (besides head office) on 3 computers in each branch over a OneDrive. At the head office, where the original files were created, everything works fine. However, in the branches, 2 out of 3 branches are giving me an error on the fields which pull the "Current User" and the "Date/Time". I am confused because all fields seem to be working fine on some computers but not other others. Please help.

If I open a blank database & try to import objects from the corrupted database, I cannot access/view the objects of the corrupted file from the blank database. Unfortunately, I dont have a backup of the file, I can try to restore to an earlier storage point (using System Restore), but will lose considerable work. Any ideas?

My original post was in the Window XP/Pro discussion. This is continuation from there as did not know if I needed to copy them over here........ This still happens when I start the machine: Services.exe - Application Error. The Application Failed To Initialize (0xc0000005)., Windows XP Professional SP2Then it will take its time loading....and if I try and install something it won't; it will shut itself off and restart..i think it has a mind of its on.... ok the following is what I have found today...this will all be hand type as the floppy drive does not work, the internet connection says it up in Task Monitor but to get online its not happening. Last night I attempted to run Spy-Bot Search and Destroy; it said I needed to load the definitions file....but I have no online access...so...does anyone know how to update with out being online? Here is what I started with today.Turn machine on. STOP: c oooo 145 {application error. The application failed to initialize properly (0x 0000005). Click OK to terminate application. The above message is what I receive, when I run "error check". It was advised from the Microsoft website that I ran ERROR CHECK, along with "disk cleanup" & "defrag" analysis, to see if the machine needs to be defragged.I went along with the advised procedures by Microsoft, because it was said that the computer would run faster. I've been doing the ones that worked, defrag analysis, disk clean up & CC Cleaner. Along with those maintenance tasks, I update all the definitions on the malware software. With the aforementioned error message problem with the lap top, I also have a problem with Adobe Reader (listed in another topic), that I can't uninstall it, without getting a 'Error 1402' message. Then the one last problem is the cursor jumping around at random times, when I am typing to either the forum or in a Word document. I mention these other issues because I am not sure they're not related. This is a DELL Inspiron 1520, Centrino (2007). I have another laptop, a 5150 Inspiron, with a P4 chip, and it absolutely has no issues. It hasn't even caught a virus. I don't use it as much now, but in the past I took it everywhere. It is heavy & the fan was on the bottom, so I built a stand out of PVC pipe & fittings. It kept the laptop off of the surface so it could get air circulati... Read more

What steps are you taking to run the check?

That error seems to indicate a hard drive problem, which is why it was suggested to run chkdsk /r.

Start/Run...type chkdsk /r and hit Enter. Type Y in new screen and hit Enter. Reboot the system. The command should execute, before booting into XP.

I get the topic title message each time I boot up.  The full message is "MSASCui.exe Application error. This application failed to initialize properly (Oxc0000034). Click on OK to terminate the app."  One other message also appears each boot-up, beginning with "msmsgs.exe App error" etc.  What do I do?  I've tried system restore, re-downloading programs that appear to be affected (CCleaner, for example).  Thanks in advance.

Hi There

I have been given a friends computer to fix. The way he described it, it sounded like it was full of Malware etc, however I haven't been able to start it up as I get the following message appearing when I power it up.

userinit.exe - Application Error The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click ok...

This message appears twice, I then get the wallpaper of the computer up, but nothing else, no icons or task bar. I have tried a wee trip to safe mode but don't get anywhere from that either, just the same message.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Cheers

Colin

A user is getting a popup warning upon login (see event log entry below).

This started last friday and another Tech ran chkdsk and the user was able to print a few times before they left at end of day, not able to print today. I ran the chkdsk but no luck.

The print spooler service will not start, when forced the popup shows.

I have removed and replaced spoolsv.exe with no luck.

I was brought a machine the other day from a friend who got it from a house she was cleaning...so of course there is no telling why they left it behind as it is souped up with all the fans, lights, and amd EP-8KHA motherboard with the counter on it...which when I first loaded it..it took forever the boot screens came up then the wonderful....Services.exe - Application Error. The application failed to initialize (0xc0000005). came up. I went through the prompts of ending it...then 20 mins or so later windows finely loaded but the start menu was gone....at first the whole desktop was just the blue screen but my patients in letting it load I finely had icons but still no start menu...I found that someone had removed nortan...so there is no anti-virus on it....well I tried to load AVG on a CD that I burned off my PC and load it...along with Spy-bot, ad-aware SE, and a few other programs to see if I could get some of the tried but true to repair any virus, malware and such off. Well to no avail did any of the programs load...so I had noticed that when I tried going into user accounts to see if this account had admin. privileges the user accounts never loaded. Doing some investigating I found on Microsoft that I could make another account with admin privileges and that it should load....NOPE....I got the account created but when I tried to log into it no windows just a blank screen...Ctrl.Alt.Delete. brings up the task manager on network I see that it says that the INTERNET is run... A:Services.exe - Application Error. The Application Failed To Initialize (0xc0000005).

Well...it seems to me (I may be misreading) but that system belonged to a unnamed 3d party, which had the operating license.

If I had found such system, the first thing I would have done is wipe it clean (because I don't like using someone else's data which they've decided to trash) and to give myself a good start at seeing if the system worked properly.

Then I would have done a clean install.

That's the only way that I know how to go from a series of unknowns...to a known good, working system.

Worst case scenario: The system is highly infected.

Best case scenario: The system has O/S or malware problems or a combination thereof.
