Internet Explorer 11 says it installed, but I can't find it anywhere!

Q: Internet Explorer 11 says it installed, but I can't find it anywhere!

I just had to reinstall windows home premium sp1 on my dell tower. (in place upgrade)

It went without a hitch except it deleted my IE 11, which is required by intuit to use my quickbooks software.
I installed IE 11 from two different download sources on microsoft's servers, and both times it said that IE 11 installed successfully, and to restart the computer to begin using it. But when I do, it's nowhere to be found, and IE8 is all I have.

This is bad... I have to use IE 11 with quickbooks. It's a requirement of the software.
I thought I couldn't be the only one to ever experience this but I can't find other references to a similar problem.
Thanks in advance for help!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm having a problem with Internet Explorer where it cant connect to any webpage at all.
I have tried to troubleshoot the problem but the troubleshooter says that it cannot find the problem. It works when i start it up in no addons mode but even if i disable all the addons that i could find in manage addons it still doesn't work unless i use no addon mode.

No other computer has this problem other than me so it's not a problem with the router, but i can also use other browsers just fine with no problems.

I tried multiple attempts at solution trying to fix this such as:
ipconfig release,renew and flushdns
the two netsh command that, i think, flush the ipv4 and some other connection
disabling all addons in Internet explorer
reseting all internet explorer settings
checking if Proxy settings are accidentally enabled
Using antivirus + antimalware + antispyware to check for viruses(though i do think it is a virus)
Uninstalling and reinstalling Internet Explorer
System restore is out of the question because it doesnt have a restore point before this occured
If it helps, i had a "strain" of a computer virus named [email protected] + "Mutations" of that virus in the same folder and it seemed to have happened a couple days after i had gotten rid of it using help from my anti-virus's support team, i'm in the 7th step of fully removing it. I also did SFC /Scannow in cmd so i can post it if i need to.

A:Very slow Internet since I installed Internet Explorer 8

Here is some info on repairing IE8.Don't know if it will help, but maybe worth a shot.
Also, maybe going back to IE 7 might be a good option..

Methods to follow for Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8
Method 1: Reset the Internet Explorer settings
If you have Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8 installed, you can repair damaged files or missing registration information in Internet Explorer 7 or in Internet Explorer 8. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. On the Advanced tab, click Reset.
4. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset to confirm.

I recently reformatted my HD and reinstalled XP Home, which includes IE6, and my other programs. I downloaded IE7 and went thru the validation and installation process, and rebooted. Everything looked fine. However, when I opened up IE, I still have IE6. I repeated the installation procedure with the same results. I checked My Computer\Local Disk\Program File\Internet Explorer, and sure enough, it showes IE6. BTW - the installation created an Internet Explorer Troubleshooting shortcut on my desktop. When I click on it, it takes me to Page Cannot Be Displayed. I have reformatted in the past, installed the same programs, and never had a problem upgrading to IE7. Can anyone offer a solution?

A:Internet Explorer 7 Does Not Run After Installed On XP Home

Hi! Pretty strange, first lets see if you have actually got IE7 on your machine. The folder is hidden so first set your PC to see hidden files, you can do this by:
1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
2. Click the View tab.
3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
After this navigate to the directory C:\WINDOWS\ie7 and see if it exists. If it does find the executable iexplorer.exe and try to run it. Report back with your findings!

I recently UN-installed Webshots, but I am left with a shell [it appears] of some version of IE. It is not listed in the programs to be uninstalled, but it is still in my start programs list. If I click on it, it does come up, and gives me a message that "Smile" cannot find ... etc.. That's why I'm assuming it is something Webshots/Smile installed.

How do I get rid of it, if it's not in the uninstall programs list? I want to get rid of it before I install IE 10.

A:Internet Explorer installed by Webshots?

Right click on it in the start menu and click on Open file location and see whats in the folder. If there is and uninstaller run it, if you uninstalled it already then delete the folder and it will be gone.

I recently had to reinstall Windows XP, all of the updates, Service Pack 2 and Internet Explorer 7. Computer works pretty well but a few things seem to be missing.

The IE icon does not show up anywhere on my computer and the only way I can use IE is to open the windows update in the start menu and then type in the website I want. I know it is installed and that it works because I've used it but I can't find the program icon. I looked in C:>Program Files>Internet Explorer but it's not there. When I go into display settings to add it to the desktop it isn't there either.

Do I need another driver or something? How can I fix this?

Friends computer has done something with her Internet Explorer. Turned it on the other day and it can't be found. I'm going to take a look at it this afternoon and would like to be able to load an alternate web browser on her machine and then hopefully find or download a new copy of IE. Can I get a full copy of Firefox or some other browser so I can get on the internet? Would like to be able to have the alternate browser on a flash drive.

A:Can't find Internet Explorer

One thing you can try is look in Program Files folder (two if 64Bit windows)for the Internet Explorer folder then run iexplore.exe.

Alternatively search for iexplore.exe
If you can't find it someone may have chosen to remove it in "add or remove programs" in XP for example it can be done under a tab on the left called "Add / Remove Windows components"

Someone may have just deleted the shortcut or renamed it accidentally. Look and see if you see the Big E with a funny name. Check the recycle bin and see if it is in there.

Alternative you can download Firefox on your computer and copy it to a flash drive. However some sites do work better with Internet Explorer IMO.

Good Luck

Hi 7-community,

I have a sturdy problem regarding Internet Explorer 11 installation (atm I use IE10). Every time it fails with error code 9C47 ("unknown error"). My first attempts to solve this issue where sfc -scannow and CheckSUR. In short: they couldn't fix the problem. I looked into the created logs but for a lack of experience regarding the deep insides of Windows I could only identify that Windows has severe problems.
Therefore I googled a lot and found out that this is the best place for being helped. I heard about a specialist called NoelDP It'll be great if someone could help me avoiding a fresh Windows installation. Please let me know, if I can support you with some more logs etc.

Logs (OneDrive)

PS: I have two CBS.logs. One was created during CheckSUR, the other one during sfc -scannow.
PPS: I also tried to remove IE via "control panel>add/remove programs" but the only thing which appeared, was the small window..... blank (i.e. no functions etc. appeared).

Heeelp! One more annotation: I would appreciate not only if someone could help me but also explain the steps he/she takes in order to solve the problem. I don't wanna die stupid

I connected my computer up to an ethernet connection and it says that the internet connection is connected, but I cannot browse - internet explorer cannot find server and says that the page cannot be displayed. Firefox does not work either.

The connection works fine on other computers.

I contacted my ISP's technical help and worked through the basic troubleshooting - the computer can ping the modem, but not any webpages. They have suggested that something on the computer is blocking the connection.

I have uninstalled Avast and turned off the windows firewall to ensure they are not the problem - no change.

The computer has previously been infected by malware (av suite) which was blocking a previous USB connection, but this issue was solved. I am unable to use this previous connection now to see if that will work.

I have run Super AntiSpy and it came up with two malware.trace which I deleted - no change.

Go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. In the Device Manager do you see any devices with yellow marks? If so, these are devices that need to have drivers installed. If you have a driver disc for your Netgear Adapter, install it (remove the adapter before running the driver, and plug it in when it says to) You can go to the Dell/Support/Download Drivers web site, type in your Make and Model # and it will take you to the download page for your particular machine. Download all the other drivers for your computer marked with yellow in the Device Manager.

Hello all.
Today I installed Windows XP SP2 on my father's Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop. When it finished installing and loaded up again, I could not access the control panel, internet explorer, Windows update, or My Computer. If I tried to do so, it would only show the desktop, and then appear to restart explorer, as the "Your computer is not secure" bubble would appear. I could access the internet through firefox, but whenever I would attempt to download something it would crash. Also, when I tried to install AVG antivirus, it got to about 80% and errored. Assuming that it would help, I went ahead and installed SP3 as well, however the issue is still there.
Also, I have tried to fix it in safe mode, but likewise I cannot access the features above. I do not think it is malware, because before I installed the service packs it worked fine. Also, this computer is about 5 years old, and I don't have the operating system CD anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Installed XP SP2, cannot open control panel, internet explorer, etc.

I'm wondering if you didn't install SP2 (or SP3, I'm confused on this...) while the machine was infected.

Try running System Restore and go back to a day prior to doing any of these installs.

Did you have any odd symptoms prior to installing SP2 or 3 ?

It's a bit late to be doing either of these. What prompted you to do it? Was the machine having problems before ?

Hello everybody,
my problem started with installing updates on a Windows 7 Professional x64 System. After installing most of the updates there had been installed Internet Explorer 11. But then Windows Update wanted to install the package again.

When installing IE11 over Windows Update again it put out the error Code 9c48.

I wanted to fix this by manually uninstalling the Update but unter the Windows Features window the tick beside IE11 wasn't set.

The funny thing is that I can start IE11 and if I check the version under the info of the IE11 it displays a correct Version (11.0.9600.16428 and KB2841134). Under Installed Updates the KB2841134 isn't shown.
Also I tried to manually remove packages with the following command:

FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"
But after that I didn't have installed IE at all and couldn't install Version 11 or below. With the System recovery I switched on the state before uninstalling.
In the update history I can see after scrolling a little that IE11 was successfully installed.

Im getting that on alot of stuff. I dont remember where any settings are to turn off internet explorer for use in windows stuff if that would help. I get this for my admin tools and my device list in hardware/system properties. Where is windows xps settings to check default programs etc. I set it to use internet explorer in set program access and defaults but it still wont work. I was going to uninstall and reinstall Service pack 2 and see if i could reload that internet explorer after installing an njstar japanese explorer and after a problem with my WMI file possibly being corupted, but it wont uninstall properly from remove programs.(should have the thread linked in my sig.) I dled the other internet explorer 6 from windows site and installed it so that it was working properly and i could acess my bank again because something was causing alot of buttons to not be recognized all of a sudden on most pages. I dont think it was the njstar i think it was the dl of the windows update for dr.watson batching up my computer.. I think it was screwing with my other virus scanner because of the default setting on install. can anyone help?

I use windows xp pro. I still dont have where everything is on this operating system memorized and dont remember all the time where certain tools are for it.

A:Solved: MMC requires internet explorer 5.5 or greater to be installed

Theres also those links that are sometimes blue, or even green in web pages that lead to searches. And when I ever I start up IE there's like an automatic pop-up that comes up along with it (www.click2begin.com & www.popupsearches.com). I bought this Toshiba notebook on Black Friday 2007. It came with Windows Vista and Internet Explorer. At some point after that I downloaded a beta version of IE8 and it screwed up the program already installed, so I tried to delete the program and go with Mozilla. Now I want to install IE8 and the installation program tells me I already have a previous version on Internet Explorer installed and need to delete it before continuing. The problem is that I can't find the program to uninstall it. Anybody got any ideas?

Hello and welcome to TSF

Open up Zone Alarm and click on Program Control, then click on the tab Programs, select Internet Explore, and set under 'Access and set all the options to allow, they will then have a green tick in the box. The under 'Server' do the same thing.

Do you have these problems in any other browsers? Please try one of the below (both are free):
