System Update 5? Thought it was replaced by Lenovo Vantage?

Q: System Update 5? Thought it was replaced by Lenovo Vantage?

Hi, System Update 5 popped up this AM and wanted to search for updates. I allowed it and none were found. No problem there, my question is, hasn't Vantage replaced System Update? In other words, is SU5 needed on my P1? TIA!

Preferred Solution: System Update 5? Thought it was replaced by Lenovo Vantage?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In this first screenshot of Lenovo Vantage running under Windows 10 (64) on my X1 Yoga (1st generation), please notice where it says that I need to install Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105.  However, in the second screenshot, please notice where the Installation History shows that Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 was successfully installed already. Everytime I boot up and run Lenovo Vantage to check for updates, it tells me that I need Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 so I let it install it. Everytime I install it, the installation appears to be successful and my computer reboots, but then after rebooting, Lenovo Vantage again tells me that (1) I need it, (2) I already have it. This is crazy.  In the third screenshot (looking at Windows Device Manager) I see the Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A. The fourth screenshot shows that it is disabled.  I will enable this and then retry to install the updated. I'll report back in a second posting on this thread whehter it works.  (I would leave this posting open and finish it later, but I'm afraid it woud all be lost when I reboot).

A:ENDLESS LOOP: Lenovo Vantage Tells Me To Update a Driver That Vantage Says Is Already Up to Date.

After enabling the driver in Windows Device Manager, then again trying to update, the update was successful. After another reboot, Lenovo Vantage no longer show that this needs to be updated.  I'm no programmer, but it seems to me that the Lenovo Vantage update program ought to be able to see whether a driver is disabled and to tell the user to enable it in order to allow successful of updating of the driver. My 2¢.

Not sure if I'm using the right term but while either of these programs are checking for updates, cursor focus is contanstly being pulled to either the app itself or the numerous background processes it seems to be opening. Seems minor but this means you literally can't multitask or do anything requiring typing while checking for updates, because your cursor is constantly being moved out of whatever you're trying to do.  This is especially a problem because of how long the scans take to run.Few addl questions: - Are these two apps doing the same thing, and if so, why are there two of them?  Just noticed the 'System Update' one today, Vantage I have had since purchase - Why are there numerous 'Setup' popups being generated in the background while these programs scan? (see photo attached). If you Alt-Tab during the process, you can see many exe / software shell things opening and closing (is this what pulls focus away?).  - Is there anyway to fix these programs so they run truly in the background?  Can't imagine it's a big ask to clean these up a bit. Thanks!

Hey all ... here is a screenshot of the current state of affairs: Note: this is the Win 10 Pro 64-bit OS, Version 1803 ... Windows Update is ' ... up to date'. I have tried various Lenovo Vantage Critical / Recommended / Optional update selections (in their respective groups and / or alone) and re-booted every time following failed system updates ... I cannot seem to break whatever log jam is occurring here. I thought perhaps trying the IME 11.6 Firmware - 10 [64] - V.11.8.55.3510 update alone, or, the ThinkPad BIOS Update - 10 [64] - V.2.26.1.18 update alone (they are both 'Reboot Required' updates) might get me past this issue, however, so far, no joy.  There is a 'Fully charged (100%)' battery installed in the system. Thanks for any insights offered, FFF P.S.  I would also be interested to find a Lenovo drivers list of older Synaptics Pointing Device (ThinkPad UltraNav / Touchpad) drivers for my P70 machine ... does such a historical driver resource exist?  The reason being, the more recent touchpad drivers are unsuitable for me ... too sensitive / 'sticky' (adjustment of various touchpad settings doesn't cure the usability issues) ... I much preferred the behaviours of the earlier drivers but can now only Roll Back to Driver Version: 19.3.4.202 (16-Jan-18) ... I'd much rather use the July 2017 driver version, whatever the version number was (possibly 19.3.4.112).

I've tried reinstalling the program and the update, but nothing seems to fix it. I can't change any of the setting in Vantage because of this, so i'm stuck with 60% charge. Hi all, I'm sorry if this has been asked before but there was a TON of options in Lenovo Vantage to help out customize the audio with my machine... There was that huge update with Lenovo Vantage and it used to be a great tool, now it's garbage in my opinion to be honest. I mean it seems like the options are all gone? Especially for dolby audio output? I've noticed that the machine doesn't sound near as good as it did when it shipped. This isn't due to damage or anything like that. This all started after that ridiculous update with Lenovo Vantage.  Is there anyway to customize the Audio back to the way it was with output as well as input?? Besides seeing ads and muting the microphone.  Is there anyway to revert Lenovo Vantage??? I mean that used to be pretty much the "core" of the Machine for ThinkPads.. now it's terrible. I'm not here to rant I'm just giving feedback, as well as I'd like this fixed, because now my computer sounds terrible. All of the drivers are up to date, etc. That's how I got in this mess!

I purchased this used X250 (Product Number 20CMOOE5US) last week with Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit Edition. I downloaded and installed Lenovo Vantage from Microsoft Store which is built-in in the Windows 10. The Lenovo System Update utility updated several components but failed with a BIOS update. The current BIOS version listed at the bottom of the Lenovo Vantage window is N10ET21W 0.21. I tried the stand-alone BIOS update version 1.27 downloaded from https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds102288, which also failed in the same way: the error message reads "OEM check failed from BIOS service. The utility process has not completed." I also noticed this weired label in the System Information for the processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5### CPU @ 2.2GHz 2.19GHz. I guess a BIOS update would correct the processor info. But then how do I get BIOS updated? Please advise.

Vantage and Lenovo System Update both use the SU catalog. The SU catalog is updated with the new driver around 30 days after it shows up on the support page.Lenovo must quality test the driver and build .XML entries for the catalog. Thus your support page has the most current drivers.

My keyboard backlight doesn't go on and off automatically anymore depending on how light or how dark it is.  I have discovered this happens since i "upgraded" Lenove Settings to Lenove Vantage. I never gave it much thought because it worked always. Now that it is somehow gone i am experiencing how highly inconvenient this is in my work flow.  There isn't even an option anymore in Lenovo Vantage to enable automatic backlight... Why? I have never heard of 'upgrades' that actually demote an important every day function, and add an inconvenient annoyance.   Please tell me i am missing something, otherwise there is no excuse for this horrible 'upgrade'. On the X1 Extreme with the latest 1.17 Bios you can set it to run in Discrete graphics only mode instead of hybrid with the Intel. (You technically could prior to this bios, but it had issues that could brick the unit). Problem is if you do a frwsh install, Vantage will always show the same "Nvidia And Intel Drivers" package as available, if I had to guess because there is no Intel and it checks for that. The driver says "Installed Version:Not Available" which makes me thing there is a detection issue. The first install works fine, but it will always show up as an avalible update untill you hide it. Installing it again and again does nothing. And you can then open the Geforce experience software and it will then update to the true latest version, but Vantage will still show it as available after and if I had to guess would break something if it installed over a newer version. On a test fresh install, changing it to Hybrid and installing then changing back seems to work, but if you start out as discrete, it always shows that already installed update untill you ignore it (so this likley wouldnt of shown up in their testing as their systems were likley hybrid origonally).  Just a heads up to anyone and hopfully someone who can address this sees it. Also if anyone knows a better place to just simply report bugs like this in a way where it can actually get past level 1 tech support and submitted to someone who can address these issues id love to know it.

Hi, I recently was prompted to do an optional update to the touchpad driver via Lenovo vantage. Since then the custom settings for the touchpad have reverted to the generic windows mouse settings. There used to be options to turn off taps, gestures etc. I have set the touchpad to low sensitivity for taps but it's still too sensitive when using the touchpad and it often clicks on things I don't want it to. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled based on my serial number and still the same. I'd have thought this is how it is but knowing that I used to be able to turn things off like taps, then this is why I am trying to find a solution. So far haven't had much luck with support via Live chat with Lenovo or via email. Can someone help? I need taps turned off and want to be able to access those settings like just recently.

Although I am running a fully patched system, when Lenovo Vantage failed when I tried to install the "Critical Intel Thunderbolt Software and Firmware Updates - ThinkPad" (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Tablet-and/Critical-Intel-Thunderbolt-Software-and-Fi...). I tried several times and then decided to come here and find out if others were experiencing issues. I decided to follow the manual install procedures available at the link provided in the pinned thread. While following those procedures, I noticed that several of the instructions provided were incorrect (e.g., how to find version number of current Thunderbolt firmware from the tray icon). And others were not particularly helpful (e.g., please ensure that Thunderbolt device is attached before updating firmware - this is both unclear and incorrect - I updated my Thinkpad with just the power adapter attached - is that a Thunderbolt device? If yes, then why don't the instructions say so, since they already demand that you attach a power adapter before proceeding?). Through the update process, I found that I already had the correct Thunderbolt software package present (v17.4.78.500), but I did not have the latest Thunderbolt firmware version applied (I had version 40 instead of 43). Perhaps this is related to why the update through Lenovo Vantage failed, I don't know. In any case, I'm not accustomed to installing firmware patches when instructions are inaccurate or don't match expectations, so... There had been a number of minor changes covering Windows security updates and driver updates triggered by Vantage itself since I last used Vantage. Has anyone faced this problema and know the solution? Would appreciate any advice.Happy Holidays BTW.

I have been wondering why there are two methods to get updates for my X1 Extreme. One update method is via the Lenovo Vantage application (under Windows 10 Programs)The other method is to go to the Lenovo Support page (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-...); I used the full URL with model number, but you can also use the main support page and use 'Dectect Product' which uses Lenovo Service Bridge to detect the laptop model and serial #. I have used both, but am probably going to stick with Lenovo Vantage. Which method are most of you using? PSell is similar in this regard. I read other posts and none specifically addressed this for the 920 and the use of what is actually a good Lenovo config tool seems to be poorly documented.   I would think it would be the same for any Yoga model with Windows 10 and Lenovo Vantage installed.   I can't seem to find a version for Vantage, so hopefully this works on all versions.    1) Find and open Lenovo Vantage on your machine (use Cortana if needed).   This is the Responsive view and yours may look different...don't worry, options are the same.  Click on Hardware settings  2)  Click on Input (again, responsive view...whatever view you have should have this button labeled the same)  3)  This will open the Hardware Setting - Input UI.   Under 'Function Keys' click on the one that is labeled 'F1-F12' (should look like below, highlighted in blue) to make that the the Function the default setting for those keys...to further clarify: it will now be a Function Key (F1-F12) by default.    With this change, you will press the FN+ one of the function key for the Hot Key option (e.g. FN+F1=mute/unmute, FN+F2=volume down, etc.)     4)  Your change is already saved, so you can now X-out (click X in the upper right) of the pop-up windows created by that were created
