T480 bottom bezel of monitor seems hollow/soft

Q: T480 bottom bezel of monitor seems hollow/soft

I just noticed the bottom bezel of my t480 is somewhat hollow or soft. The top, left and right bezels are hard. Is this normal? I have an x230 and the bezels are hard all over.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The middle of the bottom bezel of the display looks like is unglued a little bit, causing all kinds of dust particles to go inside and it's very hard to clean. Is this how the bezel is supposed to be?

It is an Analog VGA.  The manufacture date was 2014..  It was purchased closer to 2015.  There is a dark shadow on the bottom right hand corner of the screen  It is about 1 inch high.  It extends about 2-3 inches across the bottom (Where time/date is).  Looking at the shadow it has a specific and static shape almost like a graph going UP (Up hill); you know the line on the graph from x-y?  It is a  giant blob, a shadow but does have a specific shape impacting only the bottom right.  The monitor was not placed near magnets, moved, hit, dropped or struck in any manner.  It is highly unlikely it was moved without my knowledge.  It was working amazing since the day I got it.  OVERNIGHT near a windows 10 update this shadow problem happened.I unplugged it and moved it around a bit.  I noticed tapping the bottom right (where the shadow is) does make it go away for 10-30 seconds.  So touching that area in the back (not the controls) somehow fixes the problem.  I do not know if this helps but the shadow is translucent (more grey than solid black)

Hi, I have a new t480s with the intel uhd 620 driver, windoze 10.  Most of the time it is docked and an external monitor on displayport. Whenever the monitor powers off the windows all resize to what looks like the size of the 480 screen, so I have to rearrange everything each time.  Anyone find a fix or workaround? I saw posts from intel saying they are ignoring the issue and blaming MS on it. Thanks!

Hi,my laptop monitor starts flickering an a regular basis as soon as I start Visual Studio. Not always and not only with VS but very consistently. I know that there were some unresolved flickering issues last year, so I wanted to check if there are any updates. This is a deal breaker for me. It seems to related to the software (e.g. visual studio) and somehow to the scale setting of windows. With the recommended "200%" I get it very consistently in VS. With "175%" it seems to be better for now.At two occasions my display flickered very heafily in VS and then shut down. Had to close and open lid to get it running again. I have updated my BIOS to the newest version (BIOS Version/Date LENOVO N24ET44W (1.19 ), 07.11.2018)Display drivers too. Hi, I'm a bit confused after checking out the spec sheets of the T480 and T480s. Sometimes I read it has 1 USB-C port and sometimes it seems to have 2...  What I would like to do is to:- Charge the T480(s) via USB-C adapter- Connect a USB-C external monitor via USB-C and power the external Monitor via that USB-C "cable" Both at the same time. Is this possible with the T480/T480s without using a dock?

I have a T480 with Windows 10 Pro connected to a Dell U3415W monitor via a DisplayPort to HDMI cable via a 40AJ0135US Ultra Dock (DisplayPort side connected to the docking station, HDMI connected to the monitor).  While using this setup, I will occasionally (sometimes quite frequently) get black-outs in the monitor for a few seconds and then the display returns without issue.  Its extremely annoying and interrupts my work.  Often, restarting the laptop will help resolve it for a while but it always returns in some fashion. I have run the ThinkPad Docking Station FW updater and it said everything is up to date.  Additionally, Lenovo System Update is 100% updated.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm considering buying a docking station to go with my T480 but I'm not certain what solution is best for me.I want to connect two monitors, one runs [email protected] (VGA or DVI) and the other [email protected] (VGA or HDMI). Initially I was considering the 'ThinkPad USB-C-dockingstation (40A90090EU)' and use the VGA plus one of the DP ports with an adapter. However, when I was reading the display configuration options for this dock I came to the conclusion that this does not seem to be possible. (https://support.lenovo.com/nl/en/solutions/pd029622#USB-C%20dock) Browsing through the forum the second best option appears to be the 'ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock (40AC, 40AC0135XX)'. The advantage is that it supports higher resolutions and direct HDMI connectivity. What I read from the display configuration options my configuration should not be an issue. (https://support.lenovo.com/nl/en/solutions/pd029622#thunderbolt)However, I cannot confirm that this dock is compatible with a T480. I think it should be as the T480 manual lists one of the USB-C connectors on the left as Thunderbolt-3 compatible. Does anyone have experience with this combination of hardware or otherwise can someone confirm this solution is going to work? The docks are just to expensive for just giving it a try in my opinion.

RIght I've spent 5 hours searching this issue on the net but I can find nothing that matches my problem, so I'm hoping you guys can perhaps help me out with this :haha:

I recently purchased a monitor off of eBay which arrived yesterday. It works great and I love it. At the bottom of the screen, there is a white mark however:

The picture is a little inaccurate, as in reality, it's more of a "fog" than a mark. For example, if I mouse under it, I can still see the mouse, it's just covered in a white cloud, which I guess also rules out the chance of it being a dead or stuck pixel issue. Another way to describe it would be to compare it to the effect you get on an LCD when you press on it slightly with your finger - it's the same white effect that that gives pretty much, only it's permenantly on screen (only when the monitor is turned on though). I have the computer connected through the DVI port and my Xbox connected through the VGA port of the monitor. This issue is present on both of them, which rules out a cable problem - it is deffinately the monitor.

I'm not sure how easy getting a refund or replacement would be. The monitor is second hand, but as new according to the seller. The seller also used pictures of the actual item, and on those pictures, the mark isn't present, meaning this damage was done during postal transit. I've been told that marks like... Read more

Ok, my friend's family bought a new monitor, it dosent have any screen adjustment buttons im told (only ones that make the screen brighter or darker) and now she cant see the blue windows bar on the bottom or start button. She wants to know if theres anyway to move the bar from bottom to top? (I douldent decide where to post this).

A:New monitor..cant see windows bar at bottom

They bought a new monitor that only has brightness and contrast adjustments? Doesn't sound too new to me...are you sure they've pressed all the buttons on the front of the monitor? Most new ones change those settings with an on-screen display, not a seperate button for each adjustment.

Anyway, Start->Control Panel->Taskbar and Start Menu, uncheck 'lock the taskbar', then change the resolution to something where you can see the bottom of it, then click and drag the taskbar to the top, then change the resolution back. Also, you may want to try messing with different refresh rates, sometimes that changes the size of the screen as well. (Start->Control Panel->Display->Settings tab->Advanced button->Monitor tab) Make sure that after you're done adjusting, this is set to at least 72, as anything lower than that starts to hurt your eyes.

I just got a B51 Lenovo and what a disappointment it was when I touched the left side of the keyboard. It was bumping with this hollow sound and the same feeling like there was not a solid base to support that very soft keyboard. I am unpleasantly surprised to find out that a contemporary laptop could have that defect. When I asked the distributors they very politely explained to me that it is how things are: cheap materials and low quality. Well, my quetion is: does the whole B51 series have the same keyboard problem and whether there is any chance to solve it/replacing the keyboard with a stronger one? I am satisfied with the hardware--it is fast and relyable, but the keyboard is the greatest disappointment for me during my whole working-with-laptops life.

Have you reloaded ALL drivers? Windows will usually substitute "basic" drivers, which may be less than optimum.

I purchased my HP all-in-one desktop at the end of November, 2016. It's been great so far, aside from getting used to the windows 10 formatting. Yesterday, I was working at my computer, walked away for less than an hour, and when I "woke" it back up there was a shadowy area in the bottom center of the screen. It appears as though a bulb has gone out, to give a better description. The information on the screen still shows up, but is shadowed in an arc around the center of the bottom, reaching nearly half-way up the screen. Is there any help I can get to fix this issue, or warrenty I might be able to claim?

My darling son wanted to be helpful and decided to clean off my desk for me... and proceed to spray windex directly onto my monitors and wipe them with a dish cloth

The following occurred:

So it's quite obvious I need a new monitor, there's no fixing that I'm afraid, I'm not sure if it's water damage or he pressed too hard but the damage seems so far to be isolated to the bottom edge of the monitor. I will be replacing it when I can afford it but that could be several weeks/months away with my current budget.

I was curious if there's a way I can just change the positioning of the monitor so that the bottom damaged portion is below where the actual displayed portion is? I tried to do this by adjusting the settings on the OSD (On-screen Display) and it has Vertical and Horizontal Positioning but using the arrow keys it just completely skips over it and doesn't let me alter those settings even though they are present there. It does the same on my second monitor (they are both identical models). This is on an Acer 220HQL Monitor, I even looked at documentation but it doesn't say anywhere how to actually change the positioning of the monitor image (they are both plugged in through DVI)

Does anyone know how either I can unlock the positioning on the actual monitor OSD or if there's another workaround on the graphics driver side I can try?

Also if anyone is at all familiar with this kind of monitor damage, will it the damaged part remain constant or should I expect it to p... Read more

Recently the screen started shrinking at the bottom. The rest of the screen is fine. It occurs where the taskbar is. Sometimes it only squeezes half the area of the taskbar and sometimes almost all of it. It can be hard to see the icons on the taskbar. Usually, after calling up a program which changes the screen, it reverts to normal; sometimes it reverts faster than at other times. I seem to find it most often when exiting the screensaver. I have an older Viewsonic A90f CRT and I am wondering if the problem might be in the monitor itself, or in the video card, which is built into the mobo. I figure, whichever it is, I'm gonna be out some bucks.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

I installed DisplayFusion for my dual-monitor setup, but decided to uninstall it soon after. Upon uninstalling I noticed a permanent black band/bar across the bottom of my screen. I can access (right click and get a context menu, etc.) the screen space under the band, but it completely hides anything under it including the mouse pointer.

Here is a screenshot of the area and a representation of what I see:
I'm not sure if DisplayFusion could have caused this, or if it was a coincidence.

Has anybody seen a problem like this before? Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A:Permanent black bar on bottom of secondary monitor

Welcome to Seven Forums Jorwoody. Does the black bar appear to be the height of the taskbar DisplayFusion put on the secondary monitor? If so, it seems likely that DisplayFusion is the culprit (it seems likely anyway). Do you have a System restore point from before you installed DisplayFusion? If so, I would start there.

System Restore

If not, or if that doesn't help, I would suggest you reinstall DisplayFusion, confirm the secondary monitors taskbar displays normally. I would then uninstall using the free Revo Uninstaller. See if that fixes it.

If neither help, I would run the System File Checker

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Did a fresh install of Windows 7 64bit Pro. I have done every windows update, installed mobo chipset drivers, and then my graphics drivers. A few Steam games as well. Before the install the X-Fi Titanium card had amazing sound with my Sennhesier HD 595s. I had zero complaints and loved every second of it.

I then proceeded to go for the sound drivers for my X-Fi Titanium PCI-E card. Everything installs fine, the card is recognized properly, but the sound quality is bad. It is hollow and flat sounding, grating on the ears. There is likewise the occasional crackle and pop. The headphones work 100% fine on other computers, likewise I tested with functioning HD 280Pros and the problem is specific to the software.

I'm a total computer novice so I hope I'm able to convey what's going on here. Last night I was working on some research on my emachine desktop and I accidentally hit a button (I think it might have been one of the "F" keys) which made my webpages appear smaller. Now I can see my desktop picture on the top and bottom of my screen when a webpage is open, even though the icons that normally appear on the bottom of the screen are still visible, albeit over the desktop picture. Another new thing I noticed as a result of this is at the top of the screen above where the webpage ends and the desktop picture is now seen, there is the Firefox icon followed by information about what page I am currently viewing (i.e. right now it says "Tech Support Guy Forums - Post New Thread - Mozilla Firefox). While this is all really cool, I want to be able to return to viewing my webpages normally with the tools on top and the icons on bottom of each page (not in the FULL page view where these are not visible, if that makes sense).

Geez, I hope I explained this so that someone out there knows what I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure I just need to hit another key to return it to the normal mode but I don't want to start pressing random keys and create another problem.

I don't know if this is hardware or software related, so I kept it in this topic.

There is a constant horizontal stripe that takes up the second and third row of pixels from the bottom of my monitor. The color varies, but it seems to be some sort of an average color of the column above it. For example, if I move a black box around a white space (like in paint), I can see the stripe change to gray in the areas above which the box is (if that makes sense). If I widen the black box vertically, the color becomes darker.

The stripe does not show up on screenshot, so I took a picture with a camera to show it.

The stripe exists at all resolutions.

It is superimposed on everything -- including full screen applications and the taskbar.

It does not go away with a restart, sleep or hibernate, and I can't recall exactly when it showed up. I did recently install many Windows 7 updates, however, but no new video drivers.

if i press full screen again, the video continues flawlessly, untill 5 or 10 seconds later,
no specific time, they may more may not pause again.

no other system annoyances that i can recall.
i tried updating divx, although Ive never had to install those to watch youtube.

any ideas what could cause full screen video lockup?

A:Best soft to recover 3TB HDD of GPT on wondows 7 ? free soft most like

I just recently had a problem similar to yours, just mine was a bit more complex and have put it on the 'backburner' untill I have more time. I havent found a reason why my disk did 'fail' but dont worry, it can be recovered. Greg recommended this program to solve my solutions, Partition Wizard. This comes in many 'formats' Home version is what you want, it is free and allows you to do the tasks you will need. There is also a more advanced 'bootable' cd which can aslo be foudn on their website. By following this link to a video guide, you have lots of chances of recovering most-all of your data, only downside is that you must have a seperate hdd to copy the recovered files onto, be it your internal HDD or an external one. I want to put lock of those softs so that they will open only on particular display like 1st-2nd-3rd monitor with unque size lock

I tried AMD Hydra little bit
but no help , its not that easy and contains many Crazy-Buggs

so any recommended software or tricks for me ?

So I've had a redirect virus for some time and nothing has helped remove it including spy bot, antimalware bytes, disabling extensions/addons. I've run TDSSKiller along with RKill. GMER would not allow me to check the boxes for the following: System, Sections, Devices, Modules, Processes, Threads, Libraries. I also have a pop up issue that appears as an Iphone in the bottom right corner. What GMER looks like:What the pop ups look like:

A:Redirect virus, pop up virus on bottom right of FF and bottom left of Chrome

Ok, we will get it off... Skip Gmer and post the DDS log.

Hi. I have an L530 and I broke the LCD screen. I purchased a new screen but I cannot figure out where the screws are supposed to be hidden on my particular model.  Yes, I've seen the document regarding the location on the Lenovo website but on mine, those screws don't exist. Everything is smooth, consistent, no gaps at all. I can open it everywhere except where the screws are supposed to be. I shine a light from above and I don't see screws behind the bezel. Could my laptop not have screws? Has anyone else seen this? I just don't want to break and have to replace the bezel too. Thanks.

I purchased an Aspire E5-573G-59C3 laptop from Newegg a few weeks ago and it didn't have an ODD (Optical Disk Drive).  I purchased a compatable drive, but now I need the bezel with the push button and the LED.  I have contacted Acer (twice) with the part number (42.ML9N2.001) and it seems that the part number is specific to the SNID of the laptop and therefore I can't order the part because my laptop didn't have the part originally. I can certainly empathize with the salespeople at Acer trying to deal with so many models, but it is unconscionable that a company that sells parts can't sell the part requested, whether I want to use it in a laptop or as part of a wind chime!  Prior to this purchase, the only laptops I've ever bought were from Dell.  Over the years, that's 8 laptops, two servers, and 3 desktops, and I've never had a problem getting parts or service (other than an issue with a warranty transfer). So now I'm wondering if this is the standard practice at Acer and if so, should I just send back this unit and move back to Dell.  Is Acer really this bad or did I just hit a dead zone? All that said, I still need the bezel.  I've purchase [what I thought was] a compatable bezel for an E1 but it doesn't fit, so now I'm back to the drawing board. Has anyone successfully purchased the ODD Bezel for an E5-573G? ThanksJim

Hi I need to replace my keyboard with a new one, I would like to re-use my bezel and put it on the new keyboard I just bought, how can I do it? Thanks Lorenzo

A:How to remove Bezel from keyboard

The Manual has no instructions. HP only sells the whole top cover as a keyboard replacement. An experienced technician can look at it and figure out how to get the keyboard out. Can you perhaps post a good picture or series of pictures of the backside of the top cover and the replacement keyboard and we will see if we can figure it out.

Hot spot is on the top right side of the screen bezel, about 1/3 of the way between camera and right edge. Screen itself, keyboard and the rest of the bezel are not affected. Closed down and unplugged; still hot.

I bought my Lenovo Yoga 900 around the end of October, and after opening it up yesterday in class, I pushed slightly on the bottom right of the bezel to push the screen back, when the bezel ended up cracking. I was wondering if there's a way I could contact Lenovo and see if it's possible to have it repaired? If it can, please provide step by step on how to contact them for a repair request. Thanks!

Last night, I accidentally dropped my computer, it is an HP Probook 450 G2. The thing is, there's a few problems now. 1. One of the hinge caps (on the right) broke off, I can't find the piece2. The very small cap is gone, and so is the screw with it.3. The hinge is exposed.4. Part of the bezel is coming off. Here are some pictures.Exposed hinge, no hinge cap. Part of bezel off. Cap off and screw off. It seems to work ok, but I know I'll need to fix it.  To fix it, what parts will I need and what will I need to do? Thank you.

This isn't a technical problem but concerns the laptop casing - think it's called a bezel - recently I had to replace my laptop screen and when I tried to reattach the bezel, it doesn't click back into place properly at the top corners. Before it's always just clicked back into place when I've pressed it. I know this sounds like a silly problem, but it's just bugging me. When I removed the screen I lost a couple of the screws and had to use new ones but they fit in fine , - also I noticed the frame around the screen seems to bend out slightly on the left around the middle - but the frame is held tightly in place at all ends so I can't see why this would stop the casing attaching properly. Maybe a piece of the casing that should attach broke off when I took it off or something?
