I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello. The settings (windows mobility center) button on Dell Inspiron 17R SE has stopped working after upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1. The light goes on then off  and nothing happens. The other two buttons are OK. Bios A15. Tried to reinstall QuickSet several times and several versions. The problem with this particular button seems to be quite widespread. It's strange that Dell has not properly addressed it yet. Any response will be appreciated.

BIOS A17 fixes the problem. Thanks for the solution!

Hello forum people,

I have the following problem on my Toshiba Satellite R850 running Win7 64bit: I decided to change the wireless adapter so I can connect to the 5GHz wifi network my router provides which wasnt possible on the Atheros wireless adapter it came with. I changed it to a Intel Wireless AC 3160- the physical change went quick and without problems and while the adapter is basically working now the problem I'm facing now is that the F8-hotkey function to de-/activate the Wifi and Bluetooth is no longer working. When I press the hotkey button all the different hotkey combinations show up on the upper part of the screen, but now there's only F1-F7 and F9, F8 just went missing. Does anyone have any idea how to get it back?

Thanks in advance and take care

I have an emachine E727 series and all of a suddenthe wifi button has stopped working. I have troubleshooted the internet options i have restared my laptop through power and through just preshing the power button and of course I've pressed the wifi button several times.

Does anyone have any suggestions of something i could do to get my wifi to work.

Thank you

A:Wifi button not working

The eMachines E727 laptop appears to come with Windows 7 Starter Edition 32-bit.
Is that the correct Windows version yours is running?

Go into the Device Manager, then expand the Network Adapters heading.
What's the exact description of the devices listed there?
Double-click each one to open its properties window.
Does it show each one as working properly?

If that laptop's built-in wireless device has stopped working for some reason, the easiest solution is to install an external USB wireless adapter.

The Wifi button is no longer working on my Packard Bell Ajax C3

You click the button, and the wifi comes on briefly (about 1 second) then turns off. I have also tried FN + FN2, and the same happens.

I have checked the hardware/driver details, which are as follows:

Atheros AR5007EG running driver version 7.6.1.204

Any ideas what I can do to enable wifi?

Cheers

Hello everyone,  Since i got my Lenovo Y50, i have been having an issue rarely and i thought it would be better to try and fix it.I have had it on Windows 8.1 and now on Windows 10 also, when i start my computer, WiFi works flawlessly, but if I try and switch to another network on open the WiFi networks tab on the taskbar, it might happen that it kinda "freezes", meaning that it shows either that WiFi networks availalbe or not available but when i click on it nothing happens. I mean it doesnt pop up the select WiFi network window. And also if during this time i try to go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Settings it doesn't open it. If i plug a LAN cable in it the internet works fine but the WiFi button still stays the same. Doesn't even change to the cable connection one. Also this sometimes happens when wifi is working but i notice that the icon changed to the above mentioned (WiFi networks availalbe or not available) and when i try clicking on the wifi button nothing pops up, meaning again i cant change the WiFi on disconnect. Funny thing is that every single time this happens, a restart fixes it. Every time so it really doesn't make sense to me and it baffles me that this can happen. I tried reinstalling drivers, looking for stable ones, etc. nothing helps. I will provide a picture with my device manager Network Adapters tab, i hope it helps. Any oppinions are welcome.

HI Michael, If you go to the Control Panel, and select the "Network and Sharing Center" item, in the bottom left of the screen there should be a "HP Wireless Assistant" link in the "See Also" section. I'm having a problem that's been on and off with my.wifi for a while. I have a Yoga 2 Pro and the WiFi card seems to disappear completely and I can't get it back without removing all the batteries and leaving it a while. It's not like it needs a driver update, it totally disappears as if it's not even installed and won't show up in any OS or even under the "rfkill list command". It appears to be completely failing. Thing is I've swapped it out and it seems to be some part of the operation that mounts it that isn't working. I notice that it installs into the power board and not the motherboard. Would swapping this fix it? Does anyone have any ideas?

This is my first time posting so i hope its in the right place. Here it goes:

I have just replaced my WiFi card from (BCM943228HMB) to BCM94352HMB. Before replacing my WiFi card i done the following:

1. Made computer boot in safe mode with networking.

After that i replaced the card, then booted into windows 10 (safe mode with networking) and checked device manager. Everything was OK (See attached picture). I then tried to turn on WiFi, but it does not turn on. Any help is appreciated.

Hahaahahaha don't look at the other tab

A:WiFi not working after replacing WiFi card [BCM94352HMB]

Why are you booting into safe mode? I would connect a network cable to the wired network port, if possible for you. In regular windows, not safe mode, right click on the 802.11ac network controller and uninstall. Right click on the top device manager entry for the computer itself and select scan for new hardware.

We have had WiFi for about 10 days now, and everything was ok until yesterday. WiFi went down, for some reason. We have 2 desktops PCs connected to router via cables, and 2 smartphones (Google Nexus S running Android 4.0.3 and Nokia N96 running old Symbian, if it matters) that go with without wires. The thing is, when my brother, turns on his PC, WiFi doesn't work for any of us, not on my PC nor on any smartphone, or his PC. When he shuts his PC down, it's all OK again. He did install (automatic) Windows Update.
Why is this all of a sudden happening? And how do we fix it?

I have a desktop computer but it definately has a wireless network card. i used to get windows updates for it and it just stopped working one day. when i look in the BIOS the only option related to booting a network card is B03 D00 Yukon PXE. no matter when i boot it i still dont get wireless signals. when i go into the boot menu and try to boot this device it says " PXE E61: media test failure please check cable" i have opened the tower and the card is securely in its slot. i thought i would workaround by getting a usb wifi card. I installed it and connected to the internet and it alternated between having a connection to the internet and being connected to the network but not the internet. even when it is connected to the internet i cannot reach any web pages. my dropbox desktop files update very slowly (7kb/s). when i am connected with the usb card the network stops working for everyone else in the house. they can no longer reach web pages or continue downloads. please help.

What happened just before this problem began? Was it a Windows update? If it was you can a) uninstall it from Programs and Features.  Click on the view installed updates. You can uninstall it there. b) Use System Restore to roll back to the checkpoint dated just before the loss of wifi occurred. Type "System protection" in the search box and then click on the create a restore point  which will appear above to invoke the System Properties and System Protection tab in the utility. Now click on system restore to see which system restore and checkpoints are available.

Hello! I wouldn't be posting anything on a website like this unless it was a super emergency but I have a huge assignment to be writing due for next week so I'm in a bit of a panic.
My laptop (ASUS X555, windows 10) wasn't connecting to my wifi network so I pressed 'forget this device' and now my laptop won't give me an option to connect to wifi at all. It's not that just my network isn't showing up, the option to connect to wifi isn't there at all. In my network connections section it just says Ethernet and doesn't say wifi, and there is nothing mentioning my network in device managers. Also when I connect on the symbol where the wifi option would be in the bottom right corner of the laptop, it only shows aeroplane mode and no wifi option.
Does anyone know how to fix this or what I've done wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone and thanks so much for taking time to try to help me. The other day our wifi stopped working on my computer. I have come to find out that WIFI isn't even an option on my computer anymore. We can still hook up other devices in our home to the wifi. If you have any ideas please let me know.
I tried restoring my device to a restore point that was set before this issue arose and it is still an issue.
I have an HP desktop all in one, Windows 10. So it's like a laptop/computer combo.
So at the bottom right hand corner of my screen, there was always a question mark (HP support assistant logo), then an " ^" which I can click and it gives me more options. The next logo WAS my wifi and networking button. Which is where I'd click and then select which network I wanted to connect to. Now it's just a little icon that looks like my computer with a wire sticking to it with a red X over it. I have went ahead and plugged a network cable into it, and now the red X is gone.

When I click it, there are no options to search for wifi networks.

When I go to my control panel, there's no wifi category.
Like I said, my phone and other devices can still see and connect to my wifi so it's not my modem. It's definitely this computer.
Any ideas?

Anna
