Will Yoga 2 pro power adaptor harm my T570

Q: Will Yoga 2 pro power adaptor harm my T570

Hi, I have two Lenovo laptops, a Yoga 2 pro and a Thinkpad T570, both with power adaptors. The Yoga adaptor is 20V 3.25A and the Thinkpad 20V 2.25A. Both have the same connection. Can I use one adaptor for both computers, and would the 3.25A damage the Thinkpad? Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm little apprehensive about recurrent force power shutdown I had to do during past one week in my lappy. First, I had to do it while the whole system got stuck up following Prime95 stability scan when I customised blend settings for CPU 100% load along with 92% memory usage. Next time it was when the system freezed following CoreTemp startup (when I researched it through forums i could notice that the freezing issue is a bug in their latest version still persisting while running on win 8.1 OS). The last one was when I had to do when while shutting down normally I unplugged the usb connection from the port and system remained 'on' for unusually long time while screen had already turned off.
This all happened in the past week. I had bought this system just 2 months back. Could anyone tell me if there is anything to worry about or give some advice regarding it?

Hey guys, there are many threads out there about the USB-C Port on the Yoga 910. I have a USB-C to HDMI adapter and it was working on my Yoga 900, now on the 910 it is not working. It also works on the Dell XPS The reason for the following is due to the 4K of the 910. Hi all, I've had my Yoga 13 for about two months (and have loved it), until this morning, when the network adapter disappeared. I was working upstairs, shut the laptop, brought it downstairs, opened it and was greeted with no wireless networks. Troubleshooting informed me that this was because Windows cannot detect a properly installed network adapter. This is on Windows 8.1. I have tried: 1) Checking airplane mode etc2) Looking in Device Manager to see whether the network adapter is still there (it isn't)3) System Restore (no effect)4) Installing the latest driver off the lenovo website (no effect) Completely stumped by this other than guessing the network card is broken - which I'm not too happy about after only two months. Other laptop in the house is working absolutely fine on the network. Thanks for any ideas you might have!

A:Yoga 13 Network Adaptor has disappeared...???

I'm having the exact same issue. Bought a Refurbished Yoga 13 for someone for Christmas. Installed all the windows updates and then upgraded to Windows 8.1. Everything was working fine until I put the laptop to sleep. When I woke it up, the wireless device was gone (doesn't show up in device manager). Restoring to a previous time in the day did not fix the issue, but "refreshing" the PC through settings did fix the issue. I then reinstalled all the windows updates and re-upgraded to 8.1. Everything was fine even after rebooting several times. It wasn't until I put the laptop into sleep that the the issue came back. I tried reinstalling the wireless driver to no avail.

Hi, I bought a brand new Lenovo Yoga 910 series laptop, costing a fortune. Its not even 20 days since I bought this laptop, I am seeing the wifi adaptor losing the connection within 5 mins of usage. Whats worse, it causing my wifi router to jam as well, and all of my other devices loses connection. I have few other devices, including a lenovo thinkpad, where i never faced any issues till date.  After some research I found out that the wifi adaptor in the lenovo yoga is Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4a  and it has lots of issues on Windows 10 and people are complaining on multiple forums about it since couple of years. Suprising that Lenovo nor Microsoft nor Qualcomm has not fixed it yet or I couldnt find a proper solution till now.  It is such a bad customer experience, that such a basic thing like wifi connectivity is not working properly on such a high end laptop. I feel I just made a bad decision of buying this waste device instead of a Mac book Pro. Hope someone from Lenovo fixes this for me or else I shall return this device.

I am totally in the dark about what kind of adaptors exist to connect an external monitor to my Yoga 900 13isk2 via the USB-C port. I would like to connect to either a DP1.2 UHD (3840 x 2160) or to a dell 2560 x 1600 panel that accepts DP or dual link DVI. I may also wish to connect to a 1920 x 1200 panel via DVI. Where can I find out which products are compatible? I haven't fully understood the implications of USB-C 3.0 vs 3.1 or 3.2. I would probably purchase the necessary part off amazon, and I am based in the UK. Does anyone have a definitive guide to connecting external monitors to the Yoga 900 13isk2? I didn't purchase this premium model on the basis that I would have to experiment with third party adaptors until finding one that works. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

My Yoga S1 has contradictory, intermittent power issues that I'm trying to chase down. Culprits are bad power bric/cord/plug or power socket on mother board or power board that feeds into power button/led on. One day it blacked out and wouldn't restart to hard drive or windows stage. I did get an error code which I can't remember 5100 or 5500 poss?, that seemed to indicate the power board or ribbons to that needed replacement or re-attachment. So fiddled with it and it did fire up in windows all ok. Then ran out of power and died again. power button wouldn't light up. plugging in power unit did light up led as getting charge. Left it overnight and then it miraculously charged up. pushed power button light up twice then nothing. took out power board/detached ribbon, then it fired up to windows, fixed some hd errors and has been restarting without problems. Except now there is no plug showing on battery icon when plugged in. So not recharging but I'm sure the battery is good. And logically, the power brick and plug must be feeding electricity into laptop to get it to recharge enough to start up. So power socket and plug may be suspect with intermittent contact problems. Or the power board somehow is involved in this? I've ordered a new powerboard as easy screw in and cheap. My question about powerboard is does this control ability of plug to charge battery? power brick with new plug is next order from ebay. but the power socket, which see... I'm hard on my power cords (position I hold my laptop, I guess), and they tend to stop working on me. So I have to keep buying new ones. But actually, it's not the whole thing that stops working on me, it's just the wire that goes into the plug which goes into the computer. So why do I have to buy a whole new AC adaptor each time? Can't I just buy the part that goes into the computer on one end, and into the AC adaptor on the other? If so, where? I have a Dell Inspiron 1100.

A:Power AC Adaptor

Actually it sounds like you have been very fortunate!!!!

Usually the part that fails is the socket on the Mobo, and that's a much bigger problem...I am very familiar with as well.

Is your plug a right angle connection? Are you pulling on the cord and breaking the wires inside? My new laptop has a much sturdier and straight plug/cord. I guess HP realized it had a problem.

If you get a compatible plug at Radio Shack, it should be possible to make repairs to the cord...with a little skill and luck.

So i've had my Dell Inspiron 7000 series for over a year and everything has been fine. All of a sudden today i have started getting the following message:
"The AC power adaptor is not recognised. System performance will be impacted. Please connect the correct Dell AC power adaptor for best system operation."
Not sure why it has started saying this as i am using the same charger i have used for the past year. When i have it plugged in then i don't lose battery but i don't gain any - i will be on the same percentage an hour later if i have it plugged in. Soon as i unplug it i start losing what little battery i have left.
Just wondered if there is a way to fix this, and if it was a problem with the laptop or the power adaptor.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi MATTANDBENNY,
What is the exact system model?
When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point.
Update the BIOS - enter the service tag and download the BIOS, update and restart the machine and check.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

If you have a different P/N # then it's likely the cause of the "Adapter is not supported" and you may need to contact Lenovo on how to go about getting a replacement AC adapter.

Hello All!
I am having a pretty hard time finding a power adaptor that is compatible with my laptop, an old latitude E6400 (Tag# 1DN25K1)

It had a nasty tumble in an airport then the adaptor was doused in broken duty free limoncello, I trashed it to be on the safe side assuming a replacement woauld be as easy as pie.
When I got back stateside I handed it in to a repair shop however the repair shop owner after ordering a replacement directly from dell that would theoretically work according to the express service code number, in order to assess any damage simply did not fit the socket. He apparently tried matching it with a variety of different adaptors from his 'library' but none fit so he handed it back to me after trying to get a match from customer support and failing.
My wife has three different dells, all work models spanning over 7 years, and none of their adaptors fit either.
Thinking about buying this - any thoughts? www.laptoprescue.com/.../
I am completely at a loss how to proceed here other than attaching a pic of the socket.
Sincerely,
Robert.

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion dv9700t laptop. The power connector attaches to the right side of the laptop and the plug is straight. Unfortunately, I do not have much spare room on the right side of the laptop where I typically use it and the plug/cord is interferring with my mouse. I've been scouring the internet looking for some kind of a right angle adapter that I could plug into the end of the power cord and then into the laptop so that the cord would immediately turn towards the rear of the laptop and give me more space for my mouse. Does anyone know where I could buy such an adapter?

Thanks for any suggesions.

Good Afternoon

I'm worry that something inside could be broken and my charge doens't work again.   How can I solve/prevent it?

Thanks

Try first:  Replace the adapter.  That may solve the problem.
If not, the jack may be replaceable (it is on most newer systems;  we'd need to know the exact model number to tell for sure - i.e., Inspiron 5521, etc. -- not just Inspiron 15).
To repair the cosmetic damage, the touchpad assembly needs to be replaced.

Hi,

I just bought a used Packard Bell monitor as I needed to use 2 monitors at the same time.

And the adaptor box got way hotter than my usual monitor's power cable's adaptor box. It also says LITEON as the manufacturer (the same as my laptop's manufacturer, which makes me think it's a laptop power cable.

Google images seems to back up this theory.

So if this is a laptop power lead, would it cause harm?

From what I can tell from looking at both the backs, the monitor is AC 12v and 3.5A, while its adaptor is AC 12v and 3.33A.

Would this be incompatible please?

Or could it just be that laptop cables get hotter than monitor power cables?

thanks a lot

A:Used Monitor's Power Lead Adaptor Very Hot

It doesn't sound good. It's one thing if the adapter is used to charge a Laptop battery since once the battery is charged the Laptop will draw less current. But running a monitor I have to assume it's going to pull the same amps all the time. Meaning it will stay hot all the time. That sounds like a fire waiting to happen. I'd look for an adapter that can handle the draw while running warm at most.

A few weeks ago my laptop died on me, or to be more specific, ran out of power even though the adapter was plugged in. I bought a new adapter and that seemed to solve the problem, although I had to move the plug around in the jack to get it to work. Last week I notice the adaptor plug (new one) to the jack got really hot, so hot in fact that some of the plastic on the plug melted (nothing too serious as it still works). It happens every so often, but its getting more frequent. What I mean is that there's no telling when it will happen, although through further inspection I've found that the laptop makes a peculiar noise when it does heat up.
That being said, the only method I have of charging the laptop without it heating up is to have it turned off before I plug in.
I've found a replacement jack for the laptop and I'm pretty sure I can replace it but I'm not sure that it is the root of the problem. A friend of mine who is an electrical engineer believes that it might be something wrong with a resistor, as it shouldn't be emitting so much power that it heats up the plug. Any one else have insight on this problem?

A:Laptop power adaptor plug gets really hot (burning hot)

The fact that the laptop plug gets hot means that you don't have a good connection between the connector and the laptop power receptacle. I would NOT use it that way, because very bad things happen when you do. Rather than try to put it in words, how about a picture. This is one of two laptops that I've gotten after the user ignored the advice to fix the power jack. The other one looked worse, but both motherboards were obviously a total loss.

Hello all,

I'm currently at work and being a new IT tech, I'm fuzzy about amp measurements in terms of power supplies and their matching power cords (that plug directly into electrical outlets). I have an external HDD that requires a 12V 4.0amp power adaptor and I have found a brick piece that will handle the power correctly for the HDD. As for the secondary cord that plugs into the outlet and the brick, I could only find a cord that can handle 2.5amps (at least thats what the tag on the wire says). I'd like to know if this will or will not work, and any advice on the relative subject would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A:Solved: External HDD Power Adaptor: matching of amps?

Assuming the polarity of your brick is correct there should be no problem. The 2.5a power cord is designed for mains voltage in New Jersey is that 112v?.Volts times amps=watts so 112 time 2.5=280watts.The 4amp brick at 12volts would only be running a maximum of 48 watts.

I usually keep my trusty Yoga 3 Pro laptop beside me with the power cord plugged in at night in sleep mode when I close the lid. This morning when I opened the laptop to turn it on, nothing. Did not start/wake, no power LED either white or amber on side. There has been no trauma - water, dropped, etc - it just decided not to wake up this morning and no power LED is especially troublesome. I have tried to hold the power button in for an extended amount of time to see if it would reset itself, but nothing. My first troubleshooting will be to borrow a friend's known-to-be-working Yoga 3 power charger to see if my charger/power cord is defective/died. I doubt that's the problem, but that's the easy first thing to check. Since I bought the laptop from Lenovo in December 2015, I think the warranty is done, but not sure. (Any comments?) If the friend's charger does not power up the laptop, I plan to open up the laptop (first time for this particular laptop although I've opened up previous Thinkpads and other laptops literally hundreds of times) and disconnect the battery, push the power button for 20 seconds or so and see if there's a discharge that may correct the circuitry. I know I have done this successfully with older laptops. However, I know that Lenovo and other manufacturers are hard-wiring components and making it more difficult to work on. Important note... I very rarely use my laptop without the power cord... (past experience proved to be frustrating because I always needed more time than the battery provided.)

I've probably only used the laptop "on battery"... a few dozen times over the last 3 years!

I have a Dell Inspiron n5110 laptop. I just got a new battery recently. My laptop's adapter is 90w which has stopped working. I have a spare 130w adaptor. Is it okay to use the 130w adaptor? Will it affect the battery life or anything else or not?
Here are the pictures showing the adapter specifications.
