B590 - dvd rom write test works but failed to write disk

Q: B590 - dvd rom write test works but failed to write disk

I am trying to write disk to my model of dvd plds+dvd-rw+ds8a9sh el3a firmware but on the wndows 10 and windows 7 ultimate I am getting the same error that write process goes very fast and ends with fail. I am using the normal cd writing way provided by both windows.
the firmware utility says that there is no update needed for the el3a as it is the latest one.
in the even viewer I am getting the same error ""error 7 ,rom0 device has a bad block" .
when I am using bios built in function of Lenovo it passes the test successfully but when try to write using above of the operating systems then it says that above error in both of these. the dxdiag command result is as follows.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

It looks that it is firmware error after trying all the tests. But there is no firmware on the manufacturer webisit(LENOVO) or PLDS manufacturer(DVD ROM) website.Any suggestions.

Hey all,

I am having an issue with a Western Digital 320Gb SataII drive that I purchased a little while back. The store I purchased it from insists that there is nothing wrong with the drive, but I think there has to be?
The first time it happened, I was downloading files from a P2P application. Failed to write to disk on the partition and something along the lines of G:/$mft kepy popping up(I guess to do with the boot table on the disk?). Figured that there was just an error, so I ran a chkdsk, but it didn't find anything. I rebooted the comp, and tried chkdsk again, but this time it couldn't access the partition. I had a couple more errors or problems with it (tried partition magic, but that wouldnt even open because the partition table was screwed up or something), so I decided to backup and then format the partition. Great, everything eventually worked again, and I copied everything back.

A couple of days later, I was copying some files over, and I had the same issue again, random popup saying something like "failed to write to disk - delayed write failed" and then my system crashed and I rebooted. Couldnt access the partition when I tried to chkdsk again. However, I still cannot find any bad sectors on it when I finally managed to get chkdsk working again (after a couple more reboots). It also took me three reboots/tries to get an image of the disk because it had problems reading it.

Is there any way I could convince the retailer that there is s... Read more

A:Failed to Write to Disk - Delayed Write

Well what you need to do is get a copy of Diskeeper. Go to www.diskeeper.com and get a trial version. Then you open that up, and analize the drive your having trouble with. Soon you can go into your options and run a program in there called Frag Shield or something like that. That will change your MTF size to a proper size (Cheoose Recommended settings) and the problems will go away. I had the same thing happen to my old 250 GB drive. But that should take care of everything.

I bet because you have selected the System partition, and you are obviously in Windows running a command prompt. You really do not want to be farking around with your system partition, but if you are savvy enough with coputers and know what you are doing, try running test disk as administrator....

Hi there. I was surfing the internet and suddenly about 30 windows popped up saying "System message - Write fault error. A write command during the test has failed to complete". Another window came up saying "System error. Hard disk failure detected. It's highly recommended to run complete HDD scan to prevent loss of personal files." The buttons given were "Scan and repair" and "Cancel and restart" I did not press either and have come here seeking help. Please advise as to what steps I can take. Thanks a million in advance

A:Windows xp "a write command during the test has failed to complete"Missing Start Menu/Desktop Display Icons

1) Boot your PC into safe mode.
2) Delete c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\temp\SoftwareUpdates.exe (do not double click/run it!)
3) Delete any suspect programs as c:\ProgramData\xxx.exe, i.e. rmIhrYfwFjUdy.exe or QFUDzzwTiL1aQy.exe. They had weird names, were launched from ProgramData, had no Description or CompanyName.
4) Empty the recycle bin.
5) Restart PC.
Think it will help you fix the problem.

I have recently upgraded one of my PC's to Win 98 SE and ever since then it
has locked up regularly. It's very frustrating. It seems to happen
whenever it wants and it is almost every time the PC is on for more than a
1/2 hour or so. The keyboard and mouse will stop responding and the cursor
just blinks for a little while then eventually the screen goes to blue
screen and shows an error that says "Disk Write Error. Unable to write to
disk in drive C: Data or files may be lost. Press any key to continue." I
can press any and all keys and nothing happens. I always end up powering
down. I went to Technet on Microsoft and I found the exact error in the
knowledge base. However, it mentions that this is caused by use of an
EherFast network card. This PC is standalone and not networked at all and
there are no legacy cards in it at all. What else could possibly be causing
this error? Any help is most appreciated. This is really frustrating.

New dv6-7000 laptop (Win7 64-bit) has a problem I can't seem to solve:  When using any SDHC memory card you cannot write or erase files to the card.  You can read the files just fine, but you get a "Write Protected" error when trying to write or erase.   The card is, of course, not write protected, and can be written to in several other laptop/desktop SD drives that I've tried.   And I've tried different brands/sizes of SDHC cards.  Smaller capacity regular SD cards work just fine.   I tried removing this device and rebooting to reinstall the hardware, but no help. The Realtek SD Driver shows as version 6.1.7600.16385 in Device Manager properties, dated 6/20/06.  HP's support site shows a newer driver version 6.1.7601.29005 dated 2/24/12.  When I download and run sp56166.exe to update the driver, it seems to go through the update process successfully. But the driver still shows as the older version in Device Manager.  And, of course, the problem still exists.  Any ideas would be much appreciated!  Hard to believe that a new dv6 laptop can't properly write or erase files from High Capacity SDHC memory cards.   Thank you!

A:dv6-7000 can't write to SDHC cards ("write protected" error)

I understand high capacity SD cards return the message they are write protected in your system.

I take it the write protect switch is in the off/disable position on the card since they work in other systems.

What is the product number?

NOTE: Do NOT provide the serial number.

What brand and model is the SDHC card?

A:can cortana write an email or can i use to write with microsoft word?

Cortana is essentially a search tool. It's a bit of a toy (my personal opinion!) which attempts (sometimes) to give a slightly intelligent answer to a very limited range and format of questions, otherwise simply opening your browser and launching a search.

It can recognise speech as well.

It can also search your indexed files and folders.

It also gives some sometimes amusing answers set up by MS to silly questions.

So no, it's not a word processor, nor is it an email client.

If you're worried about the age of your office suite, I wouldn't particularly, unless there's a particular document type you need which it doesn't support. You can always use one of the free office suites, or one of the many free word processors if you prefer.

I almost never prepare text for emails in a separate word processor, unless it's to be attached as a document.

Hope that helps.

Most disk check utilities like windows scandisk will read test a drive then mark the areas it can not read as bad. This is inadequate since there are times when you will find areas that can be read from, but cannot be written to. I am looking for utility that will do a read/WRITE test and mark bad sectors / clusters.

A:Utility for read/WRITE test and mark bad sectors

The drives manufacturer's diagnostics can do that, look up the software that the manufacturer provides and run a test, if the drive is repairable it'll give you the option.

IMO though, a drive that has multiple bad sectors is a disaster waiting to happen and generally doesn't offer the consistent read/write performance when it was good.

I don't have any kind of burning software, and am forced to rely on Windows XP's built in Write-to-CD software. The problem is, even with a rewritable CD drive, re-writable DVD drive, and re-writable CD's and DVD's, any material I put on them with the built in Windows XP writing software, becomes write-protected, making it impossible not only to remove the material at a later date, but also to add anything to it. A CD can have over 675 mb of free space that is absolutely inaccessible because of this problem.

Is there any way to reformat these CD's or otherwise remove the write-protect on them? Some of the data on these CD's is not the kind I'd like anyone else to see, meaning that if they are absolutely absolutely ***ABSOLUTELY*** untouchable forever and ever and ever, I would be forced to destroy them altogether (likely breaking them in half or something) and dispose of them as trash (environmentally unsound or not) rather than submit them to a recycling center and risk some noseybody reading what's on them before recycling them.

--NYC

A:Windows XP Write-to-CD: Write-Protect blues

All CD's are read-only and the contents cannot be changed. Some use packet-writing, but those only erase the previous version and write a new one, so they can't be changed, either. Space is less and gets used quickly.

The best way to have read/write access to data is to use an external USB drive or thumb drive.

It is best to stick with the standard ISO format. Save all your changes to a folder untill you are ready to burn the final copies to CD.

I have a Gateway Computer running Windows 98. MY problem concerns a Philips 3610 Read/Write - Write CD. It has always been a problem i.e. - balky. I am using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 3.5 software. I can burn a CD but it is only readable on the Philips. I can't get it to initialize on the other CD drive on the computer or on the drive in my wife's Compaq laptop. I had to transfer a 5MEG file to her computer and finally had to install an old Zip Drive to do it. Sometimes (sometimes not) I get an error message after the CD is burned, but it reads OK in the parent drive.

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Also, went to Philips website to try to find new drivers - It's lousy!

I trust you have the updates from Adaptec/Roxio.

Try the Sony CD Extreme software: http://sony.storagesupport.com/dlag...m/dsonyweb/cdrw/SonyCDExtreme1.3.390Setup.exe It should work fine with your burner. If you just select “data” in the opening wizard it will record session at once, close the session so it can be read and leave the disc open so you can add more stuff. Very robust software – make sure you don’t use a formatted CD. If that still doesn’t work I suggest trying some different blank media.

If you are recording to a formatted CD then you are packet writing and it can’t be read on any other computer until you install the reader for it from http://www.roxio.com

I'm trying to understand how fast a DVD burns, I mean in minutes it takes to burn data to the disk. What I want to burn to DVD is actually just data for storage, not movies.

Let's say I want to burn 4.7 Gigabytes of data to a DVD. The way I calculate it, if I burn at 2.4x, it should take about 27 minutes to do this, once the burn is started.

Is that about right?

By the way, I don't own a burner... yet.

It really sucks, and then after this happens the drive is detected but I cant browse it. It just reads like nothing is on it. I dont want to just pull the cord out, because I used to think not "safely removing" the drive was the cause but I started safely removing it and i did a check disk and it didnt give me any errors. Any help? If you want to know anything else let me know, Im sure I didnt cover it all. Also, the drive is very warm to the touch, I dont want to say hot but its about as warm as the bottom of my laptop, is this normal? Obviously Im doing big read/writes. And last tiem this happened I restarted the computer, plugged the drive back in and all my data was still there, so I dont think the drive is bad, although it very well could be. I bought a Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300GB 16MB Cache SATA coupled with a Silicon Image 3112A SATA Controller. I was never able to install Windows XP on this drive as it always crashed before the end.
I connect the hard drive to an existing Windows XP Pro SP2 installation and when i transfer any big files (500MB or more), i get the "Delayed Write Failed" error and the hard drive just disapears from windows! The drive reappears after i reboot.

What i did :

1- I spent hours reading all i could find about this error on the internet but no solution yet!
2- I updated all the drivers and BIOS of all my hardware but no change.
3- I returned the drive where i bought it and they did tons of tests only to return the same drive saying the drive was perfectly fonctional. So i guess the drive does not have any problems.
4- I thought it might be my Firewire controller because of Microsoft's article "885464", so i removed it from my computer but didn't change anything.
5- For the silicon image 3112 SATA controller, windows xp installed drivers version 1.0.0.50. I updated to version 1.0.0.51 and now instead of getting the "Delayed Write Failed" error, my computer just freezes and i need to reboot.

Windows XP Professional SP2

I only received the "delayed write failed" error once but it's come at the same time I'm having problems moving any files from my C Drive over to either my external or my storage drive (2nd).

When I try to move files over or use Winrar to rar any files on either drive (storage or external, not my C:) the operation becomes desperately slow. Everything begins to freeze up and it takes about 5-10mins before I can actually cancel. Now I can access the files with no problem and move them FROM both my storage and external drive without any issues. But moving files TO my external or storage is incredibly slow to the point of impossible.

I received the "delayed write failed" error one time while extracting a DVD to my storage drive while I slept, that was yesterday. I read there may be a cache issue and checked my external drive properties in my device manager to see if I had "This setting disables write cacheing.." checkmarked and I do which is supposedly the right thing.

Hopefully I've explained that right, please help!

Update: It seems to be only my external now and only with transfering files to not pulling files off. I did some reading and I'll try a diagnostic tool if I can find one from Western Digital for their 250GB drive. If I figure out a solution I'll post it here.

I have done some searching, and I believe I have the same issue as boss123 in:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic424906.html

I also see that Lucy Lune had a similar issue at:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic441336.html/page__p__2612573__hl__delayed+write+failed__fromsearch__1#entry2612573

Everything on my desktop is gone and I have zero functionality.

There are three users/profiles on the computer, and in regular mode, they are all basically frozen/shut down/inoperable.

The window saying "Windows-Delayed Write failed. Failed to save all the components for the file \\System32\\00005455. The file is corrupted"
pops up over and over.

I am able to use one in Safemode with Networking.

Before I did anything, I wanted to get with the experts here (you have helped me before) and make sure I do it correctly.

Please tell me what you need as far as logs!

Thanks a lot!

Hello,Not sure why you posted a Hijackthislog though, since your problem is nothing malware related. The only info I get from you here is: Does any of this lead to delayed write failed? So this could be anything. Please read next articles for the causes and solutions:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330174http://searchwinit.techtarget.com/tip/0,28...1041334,00.htmlhttp://bermangraphics.com/problems/delayedwritefailure.htmIn anyway, since this is mainly caused by hardware issues, it's better to post your problem in the Hardware part of this forum here:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/7/internal-hardware/Don't post a Hijackthislog there, just tell exactly what problem you are having and when exactly this error appears.

I've synched my iPod with my iTunes several times before. However, now the synchronization does not complete; it stops half-way. 2 error messages come up and my iPod freezes.

A window pops up and says: The iPod cannot be synchronized. The required file cannot be found.

The other message comes up at the bottom right hand of my screen, it says:

Windows -delayed write failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file F:\iPod_Control\Artwork\F1016_1.ithmb. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computet hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

Things I have done since but still receiving above messages:
1. Reset my iPod cos it freezes half-way through synchronization
2. Restored my iPod
3. Restored laptop to various earlier dates
4. Uninstalled iTunes and re-installed latest 7.1.1 version

Frustration!

Somebody, please help! Thanks so much.

A:Delayed Write Failed

Sounds like a problem with the iPod itself. I'm not sure how this shows up in Device Manager or even what options may be available (it will appear as a drive at least), but you may find an option there to turn off caching on the drive. It may be couched in different terms, such as "Optimize for quick removal". You could try that, but I think the iPod may need the repair shop.

I recently installed Seagate 160 GB hard drive in a ADS technologies Hard drive enclosure and connected it to my machine via a USB port. I have been receiving the following message on and off when I am saving or downloading some files to the drive.

Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file drive_letter:\file_path\file_name. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

I dont get this message to any of the drives connected to my IDE channels. I have not tried this hard drive by connecting it as an internal drive.

The drive is NTFS formatted with two 80 GB partitions and is conencted to my computer via a USB 1.1 port (the enclosure is USB 2.0). My machine is a 1.1 GHz Celeron with 160 MB memory, with 80 GB and 13.6 GB internal hard drives running Windows XP Pro SP2.

Has anyone come across this before? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

which described my problem quite accurately. I run Windows 7 however, whereas this post writer ran Windows XP. I am not as computer literate as the post writer, so I am concerned I may get confused following yourf directions, but I must try.

Hello,

After I installed a 200G additional drive, I'm getting, on-and-off, this message: Windows - Delayed Write Failed and it points to various files, all on the C drive.

Both my hard drives are now going through a new IDE card, since I could not get over the 120G hump. I'm running XP Home SP2.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I keep getting this error on the my scren that pops up in the lower corner near the clock, telling me, "Windows - Delayed Write Failed" and everytime it happens, its a different file that failed the write to the HDD.

Anyone know why this error is occuring? Is my Hard Drive failing, or could it be my power supply is getting weak?

For the past day or so I've been getting the following error message:

Windows - Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file D:\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

I've poked around some help sites and, judging from that, it seems likely that my hard drive itself may be going downhill. I'm curious if that's actually the case or if there's a fix that won't require me to buy a new drive.

Anyhow, I'm not particularly good with computers, so any help you guys can offer would be much appreciated.

A:Delayed Write Failed

This depends on what drive D:\ is on your PC. Open My Computer and if it is a CD or DVD drive or possibly a memory stick or card you should leave the media in place for a lot longer that you are doing.
If D:\ is a hard drive it might be dying so make sure you have a backup of the contents before checking it - download the manufacturer diags and run them.
