I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system
It's worked out well for many of us in the past.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Is Cyberlink PowerDirector software pre-installed when i purchased HP Pavilion Gaming AK031TX recently permenant licenced or with expiry like mcfee? Thanks
Hi, It's basically a slightly scaled down version of the commercial offering; the license is permanent and will not expire. One point to mention is that you may occassionally see options to 'Update' or 'Upgrade' - the Update option just enhances the current installation, whereas the Upgrade option will take you to the Cyberlink site where you can purchase the commercial version. I have lost my CD & DVD drives after installing the upgrade patch to Cyberlink's PowerDirector Pro 2.5.
I have uninstalled all of the PowerDirector programs from my system, and still can't get onto the drives.
When I go into the Device Manager I get the following error message for both drives :
A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)
I tried updating the drivers but nothing seems to be working.
Any suggestions ????
I really do not feel like having to do a system recovery.
I have an e-mail into Cyberlink support, but I feel like getting this problem fixed sometime this century.
Thanks for the help !!!

I have had to reset my laptop which was running Windows 10 Pro x64 to fix an unrecoverable OS/Hyper-V error (not related to this problem). I used the built in Windows 10 recovery solution and reset my laptop with the option to 'delete everything' (i had to use this option to fix the error). After a successful reset i installed all the drivers and software as supplied on the HP support site (HP support assistant software was unable to install any software except an updated Broadcom WiFi driver which ruins WiFi performances... another issue). All the software and drivers installed successfully except for the Cyberlink PowerDirector. After extracting and starting the install process fails with the following error message: "This is not a valid HP drive. Setup will now abort". I have search through the HP support forum and have not been able to find a solution that solves this issue except for doing a complete factory reset back to Windows 8.1 wherein which I will have to spend hours resetting the system, updating drivers, then upgrading the system to Windows 10, and reinstalling or upgrading driver in the hope that the upgrade takes as the Windows 10 upgrade is not as painles as everyone thinks. With all this in mind I would be grateful if someone could or even HP could provide a solution that actual works for this issue that doesn't require the factory reset mentioned above maybe an installation that uses the HP framework to ... I recently downloaded the trial version of cyberlink powerdirector 7....
The Speed setting (even at 10x) isent fast enough for my footage... (Cloud Time Lapse)
So how do I make it go even faster without converting and dragging in the same clip over and over?
i tried to install but the installation failed, when trying to reinstall it asks me to uninstall. there is no program to uninstall under add/remove programs and i was unable to uninstall from the directory. i deleted the directory and deleted registry entries of cyberlink and tried installing again and i have the same problem. asks to uninstall first. how can i completely remove this from my before installing... any help would be appreciated, cheers

Hey everyone. I have been having some issues with CyberLink PowerDirector 6. A lot of the time while I'm in the middle of a project, the program randomly freezes and/or crashes. It mostly does this when I click over to something such as transitions, or when I use the magic clean feature. My computer meets all of the requirements to run this program, and I have even reinstalled it a few times. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? Is this a known issue? Is there any settings I could change to make it run better? I just figured I'd get your alls opinion first before I contact CyberLink, because it might take a while for them to get back with me. Plus, you guys have helped me out a lot in the past! Thanks in advance!
Other than trying another vid card driver I suggest their forums.
I recently bought a new computer that came with Windows 8.
About an hour ago I installed CyberLink PowerDirector 11 but every time I open it, it would crash my entire PC.
I used to have the same program on my old laptop and it would run just fine.
Here are the specifications of my computer:
OS: Windows 8.1
Processor: AMD FX 8300 Eight-Core Processor 3.30 GHz
Installed memory(RAM): 12.0 GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 255 2GB
The latest version is 12 and does have 64 bit version.
However, you might want to update the video driver first to see if it works. If not, turn off any anti virus program and re-install power director.
I have a doubt between these two, which gives a better and more professional video editing ?
Lightworks has a steeper learning curve, but a free version is available. 32-bit and 64-bit are both available for download, with 32-bit having more functionality. Check the documentations for more information.
Try each one and then find out which works better for you.
PowerDirector has an app for Android and can be purchased part of a bundled deal. (Windows + Android)
You can create professional looking videos without spending $100s, if you know how to "edit videos".
Anyone familiar with Cyberlink PowerDirector 6.0? I'm having the hardest time burning a DVD - when I go through the burn process all I have to show for it is a 7-8 second preview that loops over and over. All the scenes I added and the transitions, etc. are not part of the burning process. I don't know what I'm doing wrong or missing - if anyone who's familiar with this program can assist I'll be very grateful.
I'm having problems editing some clips using PowerDirector, I'm pretty sure its the newest version because it came with my new HD camera. Anyways, what I'm trying to do is mute the audio on just a selected clip, not the entire track, and the help file says to open the 'speed options panel' only I have no idea where that is! I figure it should be right along with the buttons trim, color etc. but its not. Anyone had this problem and know how to fix it? Help would be greatly apprieciated!!
I clicked on the Cyberlink Essentials icon as I was advised and found the video editing software called PowerDirector 12. I'm using this because Movie Maker is no longer included on my computer as it was on my previous one. I finally figured out how to import a video and even how to edit out parts I don't want. But when it came to saving the final result, that's when I have a problem. It seemed simple enough: I clicked save, and then the "save" window came up and allowed me to choose the location I wanted to save it, and in what format. Then I clicked "Save" at the bottom of the window, and the window disappeared. When I went to the location it was supposed to save to, it wasn't there. I tried this repeatedly, even specifying different save locations and formats for the video. Still, I got no video to show for it.
I even found a video on youtube that gives instructions. At 1:03, it shows how to do a save. I did it this way, and I got no results after doing this. Here's the video: How to Produce (Render/Export) a Video in PowerDirector 12 - YouTube
Can someone please help me with this?
You forgot to click Start to produce / save the video. See screenshot for instructions in producing and saving your video:

My OS is Windows XP Pro, which normally gives me very few problems, those that have occurred; I have been able to fix myself. However, during a recent regular windows update, during which time my Internet Explorer six was upgraded to version eight. I discovered that some of my programmes (For example Paint Shop Pro and Acronis True Image) would not run, including IE eight.
Following instructions I removed IE8 and reinstalled IE6 which basically fixed the problem, the programmes that would not run previously still would not run, so I removed them to do a re-install, but could not do so.
I finally did a Safe Re-Install using my original installation cd, but the problem remains unchanged, but IE six is fine. My Event Viewer logs report no problems.

Unable to install or update any software from all user accounts including Adminstrator on a XP Home system.
Just to give a little background, this is a notebook that my daughter is using in college. She got infected by a virus (unknown type) from an emal sent by her professor. I was too far to help and she took it to their on campus tech center. They were able to clean it out, but she is now unable to install anything. I suspect the technician took the drive out and installed it on a XP Pro system to clean out the virus(s). As a part of the process, he changed the privilleges of the administrator group. The tech center is closed for the summer and I am at a lost on what he did. Any suggestions?

My first suggestion would be to upgrade to SP3. You should not be running a system with SP2 due to the security risk of doing so. If you have restore points enabled you can try going back to a previous point before the issue happened.Read other 7 answers
